  My host will not allow me to change the default folder of my primary domain. I have managed to Rewrite http://www.mysite.com to the real folder public_html/mysite.com/www/ with the following code: RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^$ /mysite.com/www/ [R=301,L] This does successfully load my domain from the subfolder, but the url becomes: http://mysite.com/mysite.com/www/ How can I continue loading requests from http://mysite.com/index.html in the correct folder shown above, without showing it in the client-side url?

• Validate a long type input

  I'm trying to validate that a user only enters a long value as input (long bigger than 0 actually). Compare and Range validator has DataTypeCheck for int values only. I was planning on using this class in a CustomValidator but then I would need to write both, client and server side validation code. Do you know of any other good way of doing this? Thanks!

  Is there a way to keep 2 sequences synchronized in Postgres? I mean if I have: table_A_id_seq = 1 table_B_id_seq = 1 if I execute SELECT nextval('table_A_id_seq'::regclass) I want that table_B_id_seq takes the same value of table_A_id_seq and obviously it must be the same on the other side. I need 2 different sequences because I have to hack some constraints I have in Django (and that I cannot solve there).

I am not able to link what is displayed to what the inputs ans outputs are. For example in this case - seeing the snapshot, how do you determine that the inputs are 0 and 1 and the output is 01?

  How do you cache an aspx page call on the client? The aspx page returns an asset and looks like this: http://srv-edu-build/edumatic3/dev/RetrieveBlob.aspx?assetId=31809&assetFileId=9823 We have tried with Output Cache, with caching in the code behind, but the only result we get is server side caching (by IIS7). In the header of the response cache-control is set to public and expiration time is set (to 14800 as set in output cache profile).

• CSS: Chrome and Safari seem to 'add' border to width, while IE, Firefox & Opera don't

  Hey guys, I'm trying to achieve cross-browser consistency for my website, but I have been trying all day now and its driving me nuts (0.38 am here in Europe now..). It's about this page: http://www[insert-dot-here]geld[insert-dash-here]surfen[insert-dot-here]nl/uitbetalingen.html (please note that I prefer this URL not to be made crawlable for seo-bots) If you view this page in IE, Firefox or Opera, everything is fine, but in Chrome and Safari the tables are a little out of line (as you'll probably clearly notice). What seems to be the problem?; it appears to me that in Chrome and Safari the left and right border (2px) in total are added to the set table width, while in the other browsers the border is considered part of the width. The (most) relevant CSS-lines are the following ones (from the tabel.css-file, also available through the page's source file): table.uitbetaling { margin: 11px 18px 10px 19px; border: 1px solid #8ccaee; width: 498px; padding: 0; } table.uitbetaling img, table.uitbetaling td { margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0; width: 496px; } table.uitbetaling tr { margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0 1px 0 0; } So basically I have used a table-structure to organize images, like this; (the class of the table is 'uitbetaling') <table> <tr><td><img /></td></tr> <tr><td><img /></td></tr> ... <tr><td><img /></td></tr> </table> If, here, I set the width of 'table.uitbetaling' and 'table.uitbetaling img, table.uitbetaling td' to the same value (e.g. both 496 or 498), the 'problem' in Chrome and Safari is solved, however in Firefox the right side border is than blank. Because the right-side border can't 'fit' in anymore. 'img' and 'td' must be at least 2px more narrow than 'table.uitbetaling' for the right-border be visible in Firefox.   How do I make a WrapPanel with some items having a Height of *? A deceptively simple question that I have been trying to solve. I want a control (or some XAML layout magickry) that behaves similar to a Grid that has some rows with a Height of *, but supports wrapping of columns. Hell; call it a WrapGrid. :) Here's a mockup to visualize this. This mockup is just two grids side by side and I manually moved buttons around in the designer. Conceivably, this could be done programmatically and serve as a sort of convoluted solution to this. How can this be done? I will accept any solution whether it's through xaml or has some code-behind (though I would prefer pure XAML if possible since xaml code behind is tougher to implement in IronPython). • How to maximize http.sys file upload performance

  I'm building a tool that transfers very large streaming data sets (possibly on the order of terabytes in a single stream; routinely in the tens of gigabytes) from one server to another. The client portion of the tool will read blocks from the source disk, and send them over the network. The server side will read these blocks off the network and write them to a file on the server disk. Right now I'm trying to decide which transport to use. Options are raw TCP, and HTTP. I really, REALLY want to be able to use HTTP. The HttpListener (or WCF if I want to go that route) make it easy to plug in to the HTTP Server API (http.sys), and I can get things like authentication and SSL for free. The problem right now is performance. I wrote a simple test harness that sends 128K blocks of NULL bytes using the BeginWrite/EndWrite async I/O idiom, with async BeginRead/EndRead on the server side. I've modified this test harness so I can do this with either HTTP PUT operations via HttpWebRequest/HttpListener, or plain old socket writes using TcpClient/TcpListener. To rule out issues with network cards or network pathways, both the client and server are on one machine and communicate over localhost. On my 12-core Windows 2008 R2 test server, the TCP version of this test harness can push bytes at 450MB/s, with minimal CPU usage. On the same box, the HTTP version of the test harness runs between 130MB/s and 200MB/s depending upon how I tweak it. In both cases CPU usage is low, and the vast majority of what CPU usage there is is kernel time, so I'm pretty sure my usage of C# and the .NET runtime is not the bottleneck. The box has two 6-core Xeon X5650 processors, 24GB of single-ranked DDR3 RAM, and is used exclusively by me for my own performance testing. I already know about HTTP client tweaks like ServicePointManager.MaxServicePointIdleTime, ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit, ServicePointManager.Expect100Continue, and HttpWebRequest.AllowWriteStreamBuffering. Does anyone have any ideas for how I can get HTTP.sys performance beyond 200MB/s? Has anyone seen it perform this well on any environment?

• Database-independant SQL String Concatenation in Rails

  I want to do a database-side string concatenation in a Rails query, and do it in database-independent way. SQL-92 specifies double-bar (||) as the concatenation operator. Unfortunately it looks like MS SQL Server doesn't support it; it uses + instead. I'm guessing that Rails' SQL grammar abstraction has solved the db-specific operator problem already. If it does exist, how do I use it?
