  • Adding custom validator without using Zend_Form's addElementPrefixPath

    The problem is that I don't use Zend_Form, so I can't use the built in capabilities. I usually look for three things when setting a validator: - its path (usually in library/path/validators/MyValidator.php) - its class name (tried Validators_MyValidator) and - in application.ini, the autoloaderNamespaces[] = "Validators" I've tried different settings/namings/layouts to no avail. When using a validator in my Zend_Validate_Input, an exception occurs, saying that it couldn't find my plugin/validator, the classes being searched only in Zend/Validate with the Zend_Validate prefix (I didn't try this prefix, though). Wasn't there a setting in app.ini that added a prefix and a path?

    I use rich domain model in my app. The basic ideas were taken there. For example I have User and Comment entities. So the question is how can I organize pagination through model data (getComments). Is there a "beatiful" method to get comments from 5 to 10, not all, as getComments returns by default.

    Having had some Sql Compact db corruption issues in the past and gone through the article on these, I got the idea that storing the database sdf file on a storage card significantly increases the risk of data loss due to db corruption. Do you store the sdf file on a storage card? Have you had any issues caused by it? What should I pay attention to when recommending a particular brand or model of an SD card wrt the stability and security for use with SQL Compact?

    I've got a class that wraps around an NSMutableSet object, and I have an instance method that adds objects (using the addObject: method) to the NSMutableSet. This works well, but I'm smelling a performance hitch because inside the method i'm explicitly calling containsObject: before adding the object to the set. Three part question: Do I need to be calling containsObject: before I add an object to the set? If so, then what actual method should I be using, containsObject or containsObjectIdenticalTo:? If that is not so, what contains method gets invoked under the hood of addObject:? This is important to me because if I pass an object to containsObject: it would return true, but if I pass it to containsObjectIdenticalTo: it would return false.

    Hi all, I am writing a spring 2.5 application and in my jsp I'm writing my own tags. It's about a list of objects...when I change the number of rows that list shows(a combobox), I am doing a submit on my form returning back to the view(obviosly with the new number of rows returned). When listing with my own tags I need to get the properties from my command object. I have access to the pageContext object but I can't figure where the command object is stored.     What pattern should I use for data-access in case of VS2008 generated L2s or EF DataModels? Repository-pattern or what? As we know VS2008 generates Data-Models and DataContexts/ObjectContexts in the same file, then, how should I arrange my VS2008 assemblies in my VS2008 solution to achieve a layered design? If I use repository pattern, how should I arrange my assemblies in the VS2008 solution (as Data-Models and Data/Object-Contexts are stored in the same file...)?   • Managing Large Database Entity Models

    I would like hear how other's are effectively (or not) working with the Visual Studio Entity Designer when many database tables exists. It seems to me that navigating the Designer is tough enough to find what you are looking for with just a few tables but how about a database with say 100 to 200 tables? When a table change is made at the database level how is the model updated? Does it overwrite any manual changes you have made to the model? How would you quickly find an entity in the designer to make a change or inspect a change? Seems unrealistic to be scrolling around looking for specific entity. Thanks for your feedback!

  • Is there a way to preserve HTML Formatting in LiveDocX?

    I have a large amount of content stored in a database as XHTML. I need to be able to pull this formatted content into a simple LiveDocX template with the formatting (bold, italic, bulleted lists, etc) preserved. Is this possible? If so, can anybody post a working example or link to an article? If not, are there other applications that I could look into? The client needs to be able to export content in the .doc/.docx file format. Thanks, Peter

The object return from ObjectQuery, is not normal object, but EntityObject but what if i write : ( notice the var) var q = customers /*EF entity*/ .Select (c => c.Name.ToUpper()) .OrderBy (n => n) it can be determined both to ienumerable or iqueryable : because ObjectQuery Also implements IEnumerable... i dont know if there's any specific info which tell the compiler "use A and not B. A is more specific..." ( there must be...i just cant find it) any help ? how will it know to use A || B ?

    I use EF for the back-end DataLayer in my asp.net websites. I create a class library and add the Model in it, reference it and use it from the ASP.NET Website. But this time, I generated the model from database but it seems does not implement IDisposable, and the methods I used to see are not there. DeleteObject , SaveChanges etc. There are only Two tables in the DB and the Model was generated with only the TableSets and two methods AddToTableSet ... Had anybody encountered such a problem?

    I have the following query: $this->select() ->where("`name` LIKE ?",'%'.mysql_escape_string($name).'%') Now I have the Zend_Paginator code: $paginator = new Zend_Paginator( // $d is an instance of Zend_Db_Select new Zend_Paginator_Adapter_DbSelect($d) ); $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200); $paginator->setItemCountPerPage(15) ->setPageRange(10) ->setCurrentPageNumber($pag); $this->view->data = $paginator; As you see I'm passing the data to the view using $this->view->data = $paginator Before I didn't had $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200);I could determinate If I have any data or not, what I mean with data, if the query has some results, so If the query has some results I show the to the user, if not, I need to show them a message(No results!) But in this moment I don't know how can I determinate this, since count($paginator) doesn't work anymore because of $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200);and I'm using this because it taks about 7 sec for Zend_Paginator to count the page numbers. So how can I find If my query has any results?

    I have 2 tables, 1 with countries, 1 with states. The states table has a column with Population. I'm using entities and I have created a List of states for the countries public class TblCountries { //Entities for my table country ... public List<tblStates> States { get; set; } } So now I can for example List all the states that belong to a country. Now what I want to do is count the population, so I can show the population that of an entire country. I tried using in my view @foreach (var item in Model.Countries) { @Html.DisplayFor(modelItem => item.States.Count<population>) } But this doesn't work, anyone know how to do this?     I am trying to get the user idle state of my Windows Mobile device. When I run the function GetSystemPowerState (after 15 min of not touching the device) I get the following value: Dec: 302055424 Hex: 0x12010000 Bin: 10010000000010000000000000000 I was hoping that PowerState & POWER_STATE_USERIDLE == POWER_STATE_USERIDLE would be true. But POWER_STATE_USERIDLE is 0x01000000 and I have 0x02000000. I went to look up 0x02000000 and found that it is not in pm.h. What does 0x02000000 mean? Where could I go to find out?

  • Custom OData operation / customize EF model to hide join table in many-to-many relationship

    I've got a data model that has two tables with a join table for a many to many relationship & creating an OData service to expose the data for CRUD ops in a Silverlight app. What I'd like to do is abstract the join table from the service. I'm not sure if the best way to do this would be in the model (using EF in .NET3.5SP1) or if I should do it with a custom service operation. If I do it in the EF model (not sure how I'd do this), then the OOTB WCF Data Service stuff would make it easy to say [..]/Courses(1)/Modules ... otherwise I'd have to create a custom operation to do this. Is it possible to do this in the EF model and if so, how does that work?
