I always used VB6 and the Word-COM-Library: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OfficeXX\MSWORD.olb resp: "Microsoft Word XX.0 Object Library" how should I use/call Word from C++ (VS2010) ? should I use .NET ?     I am wondering what everybody's opinion on the best IDE for Ext JS is. I was using Aptana and spent way too much time tracking down a problem which turned out to be an uppercase instead of lowercase letter. So far I've tried Aptana (with and without Spket) and JetBrains Web Storm. Aptana didn't really do anything and while Web Storm worked, it was incredibly slow. Any recommendations for IDEs and / or configurations to speed up Web Storm?

    Using Scala 2.8 RC1 or newer, what is the best (easiest and/or most direct) method to "peek" at the waiting messages in an actor's mailbox (from within the same actor's act() method) in order to examine what is in the queue, without having to react/receive the messages and/or disturb the current contents of the mailbox in any way. The purpose of this is so that an actor may determine if it is safe to process a request to exit by first determining if any of the remaining mailbox messages are ones that must be processed, instead of just dropped by stopping the actor immediately.

I have been contemplating PHP and Java EE. The latter does indeed seems as an obvious choice given my Java SE knowledge.   • Best options for image resizing

    Hi, I have resize images exceeding a max size. Methods I tried so far are not good enough :-( System.Drawing.Image.GetThumbnailImage generates very poor quality images in general. Playing with options like this one I can generate better images in quality but heavier than the original one. Probably the second option (or something similar) is the best option and I would need to resize using the proper options. Any advice?

  • Best solution for a windows service with constant running threads in C# 4.0

    Hi, I want to create a windows service that will create x number of threads that wake up every x number of minutes and do some work. I think the task scheduling or parallel framework is a bad fit for this type of work as it is best suited for work that starts, completes and finishes rather than is constant. Should I look at utilising a thread pool for this approach or does anyone have any advice for a good solution? Thanks Paul
