  • Windows Share authentication from Active Directory Linux login

    Hi, I'm using Active Directory to log into RHEL. To do this, I followed the steps outlined here: http://www.markwilson.co.uk/blog/2007/05/using-active-directory-to-authenticate-users-on-a-linux-computer.htm I'd like to be able to read data from Windows Servers shared folders without being prompted for a password. On Windows I log into an AD domain, and when I access windows file shares on a server on the LAN (also part of the AD domain) my I can just access them with no authentication step. I've used SMBclient on Linux to access these shares, but it asks for my password. I would like to be able to script access to the data on the shares, but I can't if there's a password prompt in the way. Well, I could, but it's not how I want to do it. Now, since I'm logged in using my active directory username & password, can't I just access the shares without jumping that extra hoop? I know I can mount the share using something like: //192.168.0.5/share /mnt/windows cifs auto,username=steve,password=secret,rw 0 0 but access will depend who is logged in... each user logging in should have their own unique AD access privelages.     Hi, I'm using Google Custom Search (http://www.google.com/cse) on a client website. They are not very happy about rival companies showing up on sponsered links on their own site. I know we can use Google Site Search (http://www.google.com/sitesearch/ but it has an annual fee. I've been looking all around for a Free/OpenSource alternative for Google CSE, but found little I can use. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you

  • UAC being turned off once a day on Windows 7

    I have strange problem on my HP laptop. This began to happen recently. Whenever I start my machine, Windows 7 Action Center displays the following warning: You need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off. Actually, this does not happen if it happened once on a specific day. For example, when I start the machine in the morning, it shows up; but it never shows up in the subsequent restarts within that day. On the next day, the same thing happens again. I never disable UAC, but obviously some rootkit or virus causes this. As soon as I get this warning, I head for the UAC settings, and re-enable UAC to dismiss this warning. This is a bothersome situation as I can't fix it. First, I have run a full scan on the computer for any probable virus and malware/rootkit activity, but TrendMicro OfficeScan said that no viruses have been found. I went to an old Restore Point using Windows System Restore, but the problem was not solved. What I have tried so far (which couldn't find the rootkit): TrendMicro OfficeScan Antivirus AVAST Malwarebytes' Anti-malware Ad-Aware Vipre Antivirus GMER TDSSKiller (Kaspersky Labs) HiJackThis RegRuns UnHackMe SuperAntiSpyware Portable Tizer Rootkit Razor (*) Sophos Anti-Rootkit SpyHunter 4 There are no other strange activities on the machine. 8204 bytes As suggested in this very similar question, I have run full scans (+boot time scans) with RegRun and UnHackMe, but they also did not find anything. I have carefully examined all entries in the Event Viewer, but there's nothing wrong. Now I know that there is a hidden trojan (rootkit) on my machine which seems to disguise itself quite successfully. Note that I don't have the chance to remove the HDD, or reinstall the OS as this is a work machine subjected to certain IT policies on a company domain. Despite all my attempts, the problem still remains. I strictly need a to-the-point method or a pukka rootkit remover to remove whatever it is. I don't want to monkey with the system settings, i.e. disabling auto runs one by one, messing the registry, etc. EDIT 2: I have found an article which is closely related to my trouble: Malware can turn off UAC in Windows 7; “By design” says Microsoft. It is happening once a day for sure no matter if the machine is rebooted.

Every copy-paste link pair is encapsulated in <a4j:region renderRegionOnly="true">, because it is necessary for other components to restrict the reRender to that region. Could this be blocking the reRender I want to make? Also I want to rerender exactly those paste links, so no other rerender action is triggered. Hope it is clear what i want to achieve.   • Reading URL Anchor on IE

    Hi, I've got a page full of links to another page with anchors on the end (like this: index.html#anchor). On the page they point to, I have a script that is supposed to read where the anchor points to in order to display something. On firefox it works perfectly, But I've noticed that IE seems to remove the #anchor from the end of the url, so the script can't grab the text. Is there a way around this, without any server side code?

I've fooled with Google Notebook, MS Onenote, TreePad, textfiles, and Evernote a bit (currently leaning toward Evernote). All have pros and cons but none seem to be really suited to developers. Is anyone super-happy with a collection / note system that's not just generic GTD, but with developer-centric utility?

When submitting a sitemap to the search engines should i send one sitemap with links to all the different language versions or have one separate sitemap for each language. Is that even possible?

    Functional programming has been around since at least 1958 (creation of Lisp), but is experiencing a renaissance now with old functional languages being dusted off and new functional languages being created. Which functional languages are there that are newly developed or are in the making? I realize that you can write purely functional programs in most high level languages, so with functional languages I imply languages that are specifically designed for functional programming such as F#.
