Hi
We can resrict the creation of object of a class by making it's constructor private.
But this constructor could still be called from within the class.
is there anyway to prevent this in Java?
Thnx.
Hi!
So i'm writing a WebService in Java that should receive a file as an input, and then the WebService does some processing on that file, and finally it should send a new file to the client.
My question is :
How do I send a file to the client? (and how can I tell them to upload one).
Thanks for the help
Hi,
I've used JAXB Marshaller as well as my own marshaller for marshalling pure java bean objects into XML. It has been observed that both of them require almost same time to marshal. The performance is not acceptable and needs to be improved. What are possible ways where we can improve performance of marshaller? Like threading?
A simple question: what is the more efficient way to access a db in Java/JDBC?
I'm a web developper and I'd like to write some reusable and scalable code.
What can you suggest?
As we use "default" keyword as a access specifier, and it can be used in switch statements as well with complete different purpose, So i was curious that is there any other keywords in java which can be used in more then one purposes

Hello,
I'm working on a project and need a simple free java HTML wysiwyg editor can anyone point me in the right direction?.
It only has a small space to fit into, so something fairly simple would be best.
Thanks for the help!
I am looking for a open source library in Java for HTML Microsoft Word conversion. I have found many tools for Word to HTML conversion but not too many for converse.
In VB.NET there is the WITH command that lets you omit an object name and only access the methods and properties needed. For example:
With foo
.bar()
.reset(true)
myVar = .getName()
End With
Is there any such syntax within Java?
Thanks!
Hi All,
I have a small application in java which searches images using bing image search. The problem I am facing is that, its getting only first 20 images. May be because when we search on bing.com it populates first 20 images first and then its an infinite scrolling feature.
Is there any way to search more than 20 images using bing?
Cheers :)
There was an earlier thread on Java graph or chart library, where JFreeChart was found to be quite good, but, as stated in its FAQ, it's not meant for real-time rendering.
Can anyone recommend a comparable library that supports real-time rendering? Just some basic xy-rendering - for instance, getting a voltage signal from data acquisition system and plotting it as it comes (time on x-axis, voltage on y-axis).
How can I do the equivalent of the Ruby snippet below using Java?
require 'net/http'
res = Net::HTTP.get_response(URI.parse("http://somewhere.com/isalive")).body
I need to read a Excel 2007 xlsx file in a java application. Does anyone know of a good api to accomplish this task?

Does anyone know what approach one can take to automatically generate Java source code, from for example an xml or json file, in eclipse?
One great example of what I am thinking of doing is what Google Android sdk does: they have an R class generated automatically from the resources.
Every time a resource file is saved in Eclipse R class is automatically regenerated.
Thanks!
Hi,
I need a Java library for doing web searches ( any search engine is good ).
I should be able to to write code such as:
WebSearch search = new WebSearch("Apple");
System.Out.Println("Results = " + search.Results.Count);
Does such a library/API exist ?

Sebastian
This is, I suppose, a very simple question for any Java programmer.
My question is as simple as this:
When the user clicks a button, I want to show a popup form that should have at least two JTextFields and two JLabels, so using JOptionPane.showInputDialog is not a possibility.
Thanks.
I know use System.exit(0) can end a java program, for instance, if I have a JFrame window, it will close and end the program, but I wonder how many other ways, can it be closed and the program be ended ? Including when an error occurs, will the program be shut down and the JFrame be closed ?
I have got a form in Java (Swing) loading large amount of data from the database. I want to display a progress bar while the program gets actually loaded.
How can i do it??

I need to make a small test program in java which has to communicate with remote Windows server using telnet, or openSSH. Which library would you suggest to use? I'd like to use a well documented and stable library.
Hello,
I have a test class that has a @Resource annotation for a setter and I need to make it Java 1.4 compliant, so obviously the annotation has to go. I'm using Spring.
So, how would I replace something like @Resource("my.resource") so that the setter gets the correct dependency injection? Would I need to make a bean in an xml file?
I'm pretty new to this so if I'm not providing enough information, let me know.
In Java is there an equivalent to the C# "using" statement allowing to define a scope for an object:
using (AwesomeClass hooray = new AwesomeClass)
{
// Great code
}
This has probably allready been asked but the keywords make it difficult to find a relevant question.
