  • Why wont this JS code work if its all on the same line?

    I'm writing HTML code for a java servlet. i first write the code in html/js so i can debug what im working on, and then ill make it a java string and put it in my servlet. My problem is that the code is working fine when i view it in ff from a local html file, but when i view it on my java servlet, it doesnt work because the js isnt getting called. what I did was format the html that my servlet generated so that its not all on a single line and ran the code again. This time it worked. I copied this working code into a browser address bar so that it will all be on a single line, and copied that code back into the script in my html file. Now, when the previously working code is on a single line, it doesnt work.   • Pagination links do not work properly - incorrect PHP function??

    Hi everyone, I am still trying to figure out how to fix my pagination script to work properly. the problem I am having is when I click any of the pagination number links to go the next page, the new content does not load. literally nothing happens and when looking at the console in Firebug, nothing is sent or loaded. I have on the main page 3 links to filter the content and display it. When any of these links are clicked the results are loaded and displayed along with the associated pagination numbers for that specific content. I believe the problem is coming from the function(generate_pagination.php (seen below)).   • Why does one of two identical Javascripts work in Firefox?

    Hi, I have two image swap functions and one works in Firefox and the other does not. The swap functions are identical and both work fine in IE. Firefox does not even recognize the images as hyperlinks. I am very confused and I hope some one can shed some light on this for me. Thank you very much in advance for any and all help. FYI: the working script swaps by onClick via DIV elements and the non-working script swaps onMouseOver/Out via "a" elements. Remember both of these work just fine in IE.   • Seriously, what's the deal with InheritInChildApplications? Does this work for anyone??

    I've tried wrapping my <system.web> with <location path="." InheritInChildApplications="false"> like this <location path="." InheritInChildApplications="false"> <system.web>...</system.web> </location> But VS 2010 Web Developer Express keeps saying "The 'InheritInChildApplications' attribute is not allowed" and when I run my web app there's an error: "HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid." Config Error Unrecognized attribute 'InheritInChildApplications'. I've seen some smartguys all over the Internet discussing this and how it is working for them but there's much larger number of people here at SO and other places that did not get this to work.   • "The Server is not configured correctly" message while playing movie in iphone

    Hi All, I am trying to play video files from iPhone media player in my iphone application.I am reading the stream from one Media server. but i am getting error message as "The server is not configured correctly". Here is my observation: - I kept five different video files on server.(i am sure that all of these files are properly encoded and in right format.) - When i try to run same video URL in Mobile Safari i works perfectly without any error. - When i try to run any of video it doesn't create any stream on media server.(Usually when i try to play video it create stream on media server.but here the stream is not created on server side.) - I tried to play this files using Apple's sample application MoviePlayer but i am facing same issue.(Here i tried to run the application on Simulator) I also checked on my iphone 2G having OS 3.1.2 (jailbreak) but i face same issue.   • Is it possible to tweak TStringField to work like TWideStringField in Delphi?

    We want to use Unicode with Delphi 2009 and Interbase, and found that to switch the character encoding from WIN1252 to UNICODE_FSS we first have to replace all instances of TStringField with TWideStringField in all datamodules. For around 60 datamodules, we can not simply do this over one weekend. I can see only two options for a migration strategy: find a workaround which allows to use the existing TStringField fields without triggering the 'expected: TWideStringField' error or remove all persistent fields to avoid the string type conflict As far as I know the field types for persistent database fields are registered in some kind of class registry. Could we use this to make Delphi believe that a TStringField is ok for a Interbase character column with UNICODE_FSS encoding? Or can we use a commercial dbExpress driver which work with TStringField in both cases?     Hello, I've recently been bitten by the (way too commmon in my opinion) gotcha of Concat returns it's result, rather than appending to the list itself. For instance. List<Control> mylist=new List<Control>; //.... after adding Controls into mylist MyPanel.Controls.Concat(mylist); //This will not affect MyPanel.Controls at all. MyPanel.Controls=MyPanel.Controls.Concat(mylist); //This is what is needed, but the Controls reference can not be reassigned (for good reason) So is there some other way of combining two lists that will work when the collection reference is read-only? Is the only way to do this with a foreach? foreach(var item in mylist){ MyPanel.Controls.Add(item); } Is there a better way without the foreach?

    I am calling function with LoadData.send_later(:test). LoadData is my class and test is my method. It's working fine while i am running rake jobs:work.   • Can't get FCKEditor to work in a virtual directory.

    I have a WebForm that contains the following definition for the FCKeditor: <FCKeditorV2:FCKeditor ID="txtBody" runat="server" BasePath="/fckeditor/" Height="480px" ToolbarSet="WebCal1" > </FCKeditorV2:FCKeditor> This works fine in my VS2008-based web application. However, when I deploy it to a Virtual Directory in IIS, it looks for the FCKEditor files (e.g. javascript, stylesheets, etc...) in the /fckeditor folder, not in the /MyVirtualDir/fkceditor. I've tried changing the BasePath to ~/fckeditor/, but then it won't work on my dev machine. What is the right way to go, so that the FCKEditor maps onto the right directory. In my project the fckeditor directory is right off the root.

  • How do I modify my WCF service to work with ASP.NET pages?

    I created a WCF service (.NET 3.5) that grabs data from a db and returns a list of objects. It works just fine. I tested it using the WCFTestClient application and got the desired results. Now, I tried to create an ASP.NET web application and consume the service. After enabling <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true"/> in the config file, the error message is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." How do I modify the service to work with ASP.NET? Thanks!

  • YouTube player api - addEventListener() does not work for me?

    Hi, I'm using the youtube player api. I'm following the doc here: http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/js_api_reference.html having a problem adding an event listener on the player, it seems to just get stuck there. I put an alert statement directly after, which never gets called: ytplayer.addEventListener("onStateChange", "onytplayerStateChange"); alert("I never get called..."); any idea why this would happen? Running it through FF chrome safari, same thing happens on all. Other player features all work fine. I'm using the swfobject version. I'm running this live from a server too. I don't get it. Thanks

  • Why don't web fonts in Firefox work on a different domain?

    I was experimenting with the fancy new OpenType font capability in Firefox 3.5 and I ran into a problem. I was trying to embed a font on a different domain than the page it would be used on, and it didn't work. I thought it may have been a bug, but from what I read on the MDC reference page, I noticed this note: In Gecko, web fonts are subject to the same domain restriction (font files must be on the same domain as the page using them), unless HTTP access controls are used to relax this restriction. It looks like they designed the browser that way on purpose. Out of curiosity, why would they do that? Is there any security risk with embedding a font? Or is it for legal trademark or copyright issues? Or something else?

  • Can FPDF/FPDI use a PDF in landscape format as a template?

    I am trying to import an existing PDF as a template with FPDI. The template is in landscape format. If I import the template into a new document the template page is inserted in portrait form with the content rotated 90 degrees. If my new document is in portrait the full content appears, but if the new document is also landscape, the content is cropped. Is it possible to use a landscape template with FPDI? Thanks in advance!   • Why doesn't WebBBS work now that I've migrated to a new server?

    Hello, I've moved a WebBBS board from one server to another. Ever since the board doesn't work. I'm getting an Apache error whenever I try to access the board. Don't even know where to start the debugging, I'm not a Perl person. The file paths remained the same and there isn't any DB involved. http://gammonline.com/members/board/ Any ideas? After a bit of testing I believe that the problem has something to do with the index.cgi which is located in that folder (not getting the error when renaming it). Thanks, Roy.

    In ASP.NET MVC 2, a couple of new action filter attributes were introduced, as "shorthand" for attributes in ASP.NET MVC 1; for example, applying the HttpPostAttribute does the same thing as applying [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] to an action method. In addition, with the more verbose syntax, it is possible to combine different methods, in order to allow for example both Post and Delete. Now I'm wondering: how do the new attributes work? If I apply both [HttpPost] and [HttpDelete], will ASP.NET MVC 2 allow both or require both (thus allowing nothing)?

I'm curious as to what languages/technology are popular there for web development and software development. I have heard Ruby is/was strong there due to its founder being Japanese. What would you recommend someone focus on if they wanted to work as a developer in Japan? I have heard Microsoft has a strong base in Japan, but my guess is that whatever platform has supported unicode or Shift-JIS the best would be the strongest.

    I observe that placing the following in an external script file has the desired effect in my copies of Firefox and Google Chrome: var s = document.createElement('script'); s.setAttribute('type', 'text/javascript'); s.setAttribute('src', 'http://www.example.com/external_script.js'); s.onload = function () { doSomethingNowThatExternalScriptHasLoaded } document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(s); It adds a an external script tag to them DOM, and attaches a function to the tag for when the script has loaded. I'm having trouble testing in Internet Explorer right now, but I'm not sure if it's related to that addition in particular, or something else. Does this method work in the more modern versions of other browsers, including IE7/8? If not, how else could I go about this?

    I came accross this link that talks about the technology used with Animoto.com And it seems like they use AIR to export their flash animations to bitmaps that ffmpeg compil as a movie. http://labs.animoto.com/2009/06/07/presenting-filmstrip/ "It also takes time to render, so what you’re seeing isn’t realtime. What's the best way to handle this situation. I want to reply to them all of course as I'm very interested in making an imminent job change. Is there some sort of rule of thumb here? It seems to me they would want to work with me exclusively if they could. I don't want to limit my options though..
