  • Struct size containing vector<T> different sizes between DLL and EXE..

    I have this situation where an EXE program imports a DLL for a single function call. It works by passing in a custom structure and returning a different custom structure. Up till now it's worked fine until I wanted one of the structs data members to be a vector < MyStruct When I do a sizeof(vector< MyStruct ) in my program I get a size of 20 but when I do it from inside the DLL I get a size of 24. This size inconsistency is causing a ESP pointer error. Can anyone tell me why a Vector < MyStruct would be a different size in the DLL than in the program? I have reverified that my structs in both the DLL and the Program are identical. I would appreciate any help on the subject. Thank you.

  • SQL Databases and table design/organization

    (NOOB disclaimer) I'm working on a system (a type of map), that is accessed mostly via 3 fields: ID (auto incremented), X coordinate, and Y coordinate. As it is right now, i have all data on the map, stored in 1 table. Whenever the map display is loaded it simply queries the database for contents in x and y, and the DB gives the data (other fields in the same entry). If an item on the map is doing something, it has a flag saying its doing something, and then has an ID of the action in another table holding that type of 'actions'. Essentially, for all map data, its stored in 1 table. All actions of a certain type are stored in their own table. I'm a noob, and i'm wondering what the most effective/efficient structure for such a design? (a map that has items, and each item has stats/actions). I'm using PHP atm, using standard SQL queries to get my data. Should i split up the tables so that there are only x number of entries on a table? (coord range limits)? Should it just keep growing and growing? There's a lot of queries to the table... so just tryin to see what is best :/

    I have two tables in sqlite: CREATE TABLE fruit ('fid' integer, 'name' text); CREATE TABLE basket ('fid1' integer, 'fid2' integer, 'c1' integer, 'c2' integer); basket is supposed to have count c1 of fruit fid1 and c2 of fruit fid2 I created a view fruitbasket; create view fruitbasket as select * from basket inner join fruit a on a.fid=basket.fid1 inner join fruit b on b.fid=basket.fid2; it works (almost) as expected. When I type pragma table_info(fruitbasket); I get the following output 0|fid1|integer|0||0 1|fid2|integer|0||0 2|c1|integer|0||0 3|c2|integer|0||0 4|fid|integer|0||0 5|name|text|0||0 6|fid:1|integer|0||0 7|name:1|text|0||0 The problem is that I cannot seem to SELECT name:1. How can I do it other than going back and re-aliasing the columns?

  • Include a unique URL in EXE

    Hi :) I want to give users of my site the ability to upload their software/hardware configuration automatically on Windows. So I'm thinking of having an EXE file download, and somehow put in that EXE a unique URL for each user. When the data is collected, the program would just posts some JSON to that URL. How can I do it? I'm most familiar with .NET platform. Tools like this do exist, for example Blizzard uses this approach for their beta test enroll. Each user downloads a slightly different EXE. TIA

  • Jquery toggle event is messing with checkbox value

    Hi all, I'm using Jquery's toggle event to do some stuff when a user clicks a checkbox, like this: $('input#myId').toggle( function(){ //do stuff }, function(){ //do other stuff } ); The problem is that the checkbox isn't being ticked when I click on the checkbox. (All the stuff I've put into the toggle event is working properly.) I've tried the following: $('input#myId').attr('checked', 'checked'); and $(this).attr('checked', 'checked'); and even simply return true; But nothing is working. Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong? Edit - thanks to all who replied. Dreas' answer very nearly worked for me, except for the part that checked the attribute.     I've read like 10 or so "tutorials", and they all involve the same thing: Pull a count of the data set Pull the relevant data set (LIMIT, OFFSET) IE: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table WHERE something = ? SELECT * FROM table WHERE something =? LIMIT ? offset ?` Two very similar queries, no? There has to be a better way to do this, my dataset is 600,000+ rows and already sluggish (results are determined by over 30 where clauses, and vary from user to user, but are properly indexed of course).

  • Need help in using Eclipse JEE version to develop a servlet project

    Hi, I have downloaded eclipse jee version (3.5) and I would like to use it to develop a servlet project on tomcat. So I * install tomcat and add it as my server in my eclipse environment. * create a Dynamic Web Project called 'TestServlet' * create a new servlet called 'MainServlet' and then I deploy my project to the tomcat server via eclipse and 'run the server in debug' mode. But when I use the browser to hit 'http://localhost:8080/TestServlet/MainServlet' I see no resource found (that page is generated by Tomcat, so I know my Tomcat is running). Can you please tell me what am I missing? Or how can I trouble shoot my problem? I think it must be some path /name is not set correctly.

  • MATLAB: How do I get 3D coordiantes from a user-click?

    I'm using Matlab to create a small chess game for one of my courses this semester. The thing I'm having trouble with is having the user be able to select one of the chess pieces. To simplify things, I'm making it so that the user selects a piece by clicking on the square that the chess piece resides on rather than clicking the piece itself (which I assume would be much more difficult). I know how to get the x and y coordinates of the view-port, but how do I transform these coordinates into 3-space coordinates? I know that there are multiple x,y,z coordinates associated with each view-port coordinate, but I'm only interested in the x,y,z coordinate where z = 0 (since the board itself is in the x,y plane that intersects the z axis where z = 0).     Hello, I'm trying to deploy my rails application by using Passenger and Capistrano on Dreamhost. I'm using Git as a version control and we bought an account from GitHub. I have installed all required gems, Passenger and Capistrano in my local machine and I have cloned the repository of my project from GitHub in my local machine as wel. According to Dreamhost support, they have Passenger, Ruby, Rails and etc on their server as well.     We're going to start a new huge project and while it's in the process of architecting the system, I have certain doubts whether I can apply patterns and be sure they won't be violated by team members. The problem is, not all team members have enough skills to develop asp.net apps let's say using MVP pattern. So maybe this question is addressed to Team leads, or experienced devs. Did you dealt with this kind of situation, and if so what was your solution. I was thinking to create the core by myself, and let 'em start building upon that core, however I'm not sure it will work out.

Why does this left join query not give the same result for a query and a table? And how can i get the right results using a query in the left join?

    By default, an unstyled set of nested <ul> lists looks like this (in Chrome, Firefox, and IE at least): The top level has a list-style-type of disc, the next level is circle, and subsequent levels are square. If I include a stylesheet that changes the list-style-type to none, is there a simple way to revert back to the "automatic bullet types" later in the document? (e.g., override with a subsequent CSS definition or JavaScript style change) Basically, I'm looking for something like list-style-type: auto; (which is apparently not valid and has no effect): <style type="text/css"> ul { list-style-type: none; } ul { list-style-type: auto; } /* Does not work */ </style> Setting the list-style-type back to disc changes every bullet in the list and I no longer see different bullets at different levels, so that doesn't work either.     What's an effective way to handle data validation, say, from a form submission? Originally I had a bunch of if statements that checked each value and collected invalid values in an array for later retrieval (and listing). // Store errors here $errors = array(); // Hypothetical check if a string is alphanumeric if (!preg_match('/^[a-z\d]+$/i', $fieldvalue)) { $errors[$fieldname] = 'Please only use letters and numbers for your street address'; } // etc... What I did next was create a class that handles various data validation scenarios and store the results in an internal array.   • PHP script causes segmentation fault then the browser asks me to download the .php file with nothing in it?

    I've noticed an unusual problem with some of my php programs. Sometimes when visiting a page like profile.edit.php, the browser throws a dialogue box asking to download profile.edit.php page. When I download it, there's nothing in the file. profile.edit.php is supposed to be a web form that edits user information. I've noticed this on some of my other php pages as well. I look in my apache error logs, and I see a segmentation fault message: [Mon Mar 08 15:40:10 2010] [notice] child pid 480 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) And also, the issue may or may not appear depending on which server I deploy my application too. Additonal Details This doesn't happen all the time though. It only happens sometimes. For example, profile.edit.php will load properly. But as soon as I hit the save button (form action="profile.edit.php?save=true"), then the page asks me to download profile.edit.php. Could it be that sometimes my php scripts consume too much resources? Sample code Upon save action, my profile.edit.php includes a data_access_object.php file.     Hi. In my application the user can defines search-conditions. He can choose a column, set an operator (equals, like, greater than, less or equal than, etc.) and give in the value. After the user clicks on a button and the application should do a search on the database with the condition. I use NHibernate and ask me now, what is the efficientest way to do this with NHibernate.   • SSH is looking in the wrong place for the public/private key pair on Windows

    I'm trying to configure GIT on my Windows XP machine, but SSH keeps creating and looking for the public/private key pair in non-sensical places, e.g. /.ssh/id_rsa Is there a configuration file in the GIT Installation for Windows where I can switch this to my home directory, or another user defined place? By default, it offers to create new key pairs at //.ssh/id_rsa but that gives me the error "Could not create directory '//.ssh'." And when I'm able to find a directory I can create it in, GIT won't look there.
