• Disable Windows 7 taskbar grouping. Not combining.

  I've look near and far but I cannot find a way (setting or hack) to prevent Windows 7 from grouping taskbar buttons together that are "related". I'm not talking about the option to combine or collapse related buttons into one item. I can find that setting at: Taskbar and Start Menu Properties Taskbar Taskbar buttons: This is what I an not looking for: How to Enable or Disable Windows 7 Taskbar Button Grouping I'm talking about how Windows 7 seams to think that it's doing me a favor by grouping all my Google Chrome buttons together and grouping all my Explorer buttons together etc. My workflow in Windows XP was to use the program Taskbar Shuffle to allow me to reorganize my taskbar buttons into related task "groups" I was working on. • Unexpected behaviour in a Lotus Notes programmable table

  I'm designing a workflow database in Lotus Notes 6.0.3 (soon upgrading to 8.5), and my OS is Windows XP. I have recently tried converting a tabbed table into a programmable one. This was so that I could control which tab was displayed to the user when it was opened, so that they were presented with the most appropriate one for that document's progress through the workflow. That part of it works! One of the tabs features a radio button that controls visibility of the next tab, and a pair of cascading dialogue boxes. One contains the static list "Person":"Team", and the other has a formula based on the first: view:=@If(PeerReview = "Team"; "GroupNames"; "GroupMembers"); @Unique(@DbColumn(""; ""; view; 1)) The dialogue boxes have the property "Refresh fields on keyword change" selected. The behaviour that I wasn't expecting is this. If the radio button is set to "Yes" and a value is selected in one of the dialogue boxes, the table opens the next tab. If the radio button is set to "No" and a value is selected in one of the dialogue boxes, the entire table is hidden. I can duplicate the latter by switching off the "Refresh fields on keyword change" property on the dialogue boxes and instead pressing F9 after selecting a value. I have no idea why the former occurs, though. The table is called "RFCInfo", and I have a field on the form called "$RFCInfo" which is editable, hidden from all users who aren't me and initially set by a Postopen script, which I can post if necessary - it's essentially a Select Case statement that looks at a particular item value and returns the name of the table row relating to that value. Can anyone offer any pointers?

• Linux Firefox copy/paste issue

  I'm using Firefox 15.0.1 on Fedora 17 without running gnome or kde. The problem I'm having is that whenever I select text outside of Firefox, for instance in xterm, the middle mouse button doesn't copy it inside Firefox, for instance in a text area, but rather brings up a context menu. A related problem is that whenever I middle click inside Firefox, for instance in a text input, the middle mouse button brings up a menu when I'd like it to paste. Even if I select Paste in the menu not the selected text (from outside Firefox) gets pasted but the last selected text inside Firefox. In about:config I tried "middlemouse.paste true" and also "middlemouse.paste false" together with the add-on Auto Copy but no combination worked. A middle mouse click always brings up a context menu. But the Auto Copy did help with automatically copying selected text to the clipboard. With Auto Copy the only problem I still have is pasting by middle button. Follow up: somehow the problem solved itself. After removing Auto Copy firefox works as I expect it to (as any X application). I can't figure out why it was not doing it before, probably I was messing too much with about:config and not restarting frequently enough.

• Is it possible to ack nagios alerts from the terminal on a remote workstation?

  I have nagios alerts set up to come through jabber with an http link to ack. Is is possible there is a script I can run from a terminal on a remote workstation that takes the hostname as a parameter and acks the alert? ./ack hostname The benefit, while seemingly mundane, is threefold. First, take http load off nagios. Secondly, nagios http pages can take up to 10-20 seconds to load, so I want to save time there. Thirdly, avoiding slower use of mouse + web interface + firefox/other annoyingly slow browser. Ideally, I would like a script bound to a keyboard shortcut that simply acks the most recent alert. Finally, I want to take the inputs from a joystick, buttons and whatnot, and connect one to a big red button bound to the script so I can just ack the most recent nagios alert by hitting the button lol. (It would be rad too if the button had a screen on the enclosure that showed the text of the alert getting acked lol) Make fun of me all you want, but this is actually something that would be useful to me. If I can save five seconds per alert, and I get 200 alerts per day I need to ack, that's saving me 15 minutes a day. And isn't the whole point of the sysadmin to automate what can be automated? • C# creating a queue to handle jobs triggered by FileSystemWatcher

  I have built a small tray app that will watch a folder and when a new file is added it runs a job. The job is to watch for video files and convert them to .mp4 using handBrakeCli. I have all this logic worked out. The problem I run into is that if there is more than one file I want it to queue the job til the prior one is complete. I am fairly new to c# and I am not sure of the best way to handle this. one idea is to create a queue somehow, a file to store the commands in order maybe, then execute the next one after the process is complete. We are dealing with large movie files here so it can take a while. • Silverlight Confirm Dialog to Pause Thread

  I'm trying to do a confirmation dialog using Silverlight's ChildWindow object. Ideally, I'd like it to work like MessageBox.Show(), where the entire application halts until an input is received from the user. I'm just wondering, how I could go about this properly. Silverlight is single-threaded, so I can't just put the thread to sleep and then wake it up when I'm ready, so I'm just wondering if there's anything else that people could recommend? I've considered reversing the logic - ie, passing the actions I want to occur to the Yes/No events, but in my specific case this wouldn't quite work. Thanks in advance!

• Binding WPF DataGrid to DataTable using TemplateColumns

  I have tried everything and got nowhere so I'm hoping someone can give me the aha moment. I simply cannot get the binding to pull the data in the datagrid successfully. I have a DataTable that contains multiple columns with of MyDataType} public class MyData { string nameData {get;set;} boolean showData {get;set;} } MyDataType has 2 properties (A string, a boolean) I have created a test DataTable DataTable GetDummyData() { DataTable dt = new DataTable("Foo"); dt.Columns.Add(new DataColumn("AnotherColumn", typeof(MyData))); dt.Rows.Add(new MyData("Row1C1", true)); dt.Rows.Add(new MyData("Row2C1", false)); dt.AcceptChanges(); return dt; } I have a WPF DataGrid which I want to show my DataTable. But all I want to do is to change how each cell is rendered to show [TextBlock][Button] per cell with values bound to the MyData object and this is where I'm having a tonne of trouble. • How to diagnose cause, fix, or work around Adobe ActiveX / COM related error 0x80004005 progmaticall

  I've built a C# .NET app that uses the Adobe ActiveX control to display a PDF. It relies on a couple DLLs that get shipped with the application. These DLLs interact with the locally installed Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on the machine. This app is being used by some customer already and works great for nearly all users ( I check to see that the local machine is running at least version 9 of either Acrobat or Reader already ). I've found 3 cases where the app returns the error message "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component" when trying to load (when the activex control is loading). I've checked one of these user's machines and he has Acrobat 9 installed and is using it frequently with no problems. It does appear that Acrobat 7 and 8 were installed at one time since there are entries for them in the registry along with Acrobat 9. I can't reproduce this problem locally, so I am not sure exactly which direction to go. The error at the top of the stacktrace is: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. Some research into this error indicates it is a registry problem. Does anyone have a clue as to how to fix or work around this problem, or determine how to get to the core root of the problem? • Android mapView ItemizedOverlay setFocus does not work properly

  Calling setFocus(null) on the ItemizedOverlay does not 'unfocus' current marker. According to the documentation: ... If the Item is not found, this is a no-op. You can also pass null to remove focus. The most weird thing about it is that after calling setFocus(null), getFocus() also returns null - like the overlay has no focused item (I debugged it). But even after calling mapView.invalidate() the marker is still drawn in 'selected'(focused) state.

• Can I center a UIToolbar item?

  I am putting a label on a UIToolbar (per this tip: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/333441/adding-a-uilabel-to-a-uitoolbar). But the toolbar has a button on the left side, and so flexible spaces throw the label off the center, which is where I'd like it to be. Can I somehow center this toolbar item so that it remains centered in the toolbar? (Already tried balancing the button with a dummy fixed space, no dice.) Thanks!

• WinForms AcceptButton not working?

  Ok, this is bugging me, and I just can't figure out what is wrong... I have made two forms. First form just has a simple button on it, which opens the other as a dialog like so: using (Form2 f = new Form2()) { if (f.ShowDialog() != DialogResult.OK) MessageBox.Show("Not OK"); else MessageBox.Show("OK"); } The second, which is that Form2, has two buttons on it. All I have done is to set the forms AcceptButton to one, and CancelButton to the other. In my head this is all that should be needed to make this work. But when I run it, I click on the button which opens up Form2. I can now click on the one set as CancelButton, and I get the "Not OK" message box. But when I click on the one set as AcceptButton, nothing happens? The getLoginStatus callback is not invoked. When I click the Login button, I get a dialog, but it has a very strange error in it: Invalid Argument The Facebook Connect cross-domain receiver URL (http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect/xd_proxy.php#?=&cb=f3e91da434653f2&origin=http%3A%2F%2Fsword.sqprod.com%2Ff210cba91f2a6d4&relation=opener&transport=flash&frame=f27aa957225164&result=xxRESULTTOKENxx) must have the application's Connect URL (http://mysiteurl.com/) as a prefix. You can configure the Connect URL in the Application Settings Editor. I've sanitized the Connect URL above, but it is correct. The dialog does have username/password fields. If I log in, the dialog box gets redirected to my Connect URL, but there's no fb cookie, so of course nothing works. What am I doing wrong here?

• DBMS debugger causes TOAD to hang

  I can start the dbms debugger in Toad and use it normally but if I hit the 'halt execution' button or just hit the 'Run' button to reach the end of the function it causes TOAD to hang. Windows reports it as not responding and I have to kill it through the task manager. I have had this problem in Toad 9.7.2.5 and Toad 10 on two different laptops. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If you have did you find a solution to this?

  I don't know if the title explain this situation well. Below is a code i wrote to create div elements when the button is pressed. Then By clicking on any of the created divs, we can change the div background by choosing a color from the drop down box. However if i click on another div and tried to change the color by selecting another color from the drop down, the previously clicked divs also gets affected by the new color. Why is this happening. I only want the selected div to change color, without affecting the previously clicked divs. I read allot of threads on this site, some of which talks about unbinding clicks, but I'm unable to solve the problem.
