• How can I avoid Excel reformatting the scientific notation numbers I enter?

  When I enter a number like 8230e12 into a Microsoft Excel 2000 cell, Excel changes the number I entered into 8230000000000000. (This is what I get when I press F2 to edit the cell's contents, not what Excel displays in the cell). How can I force Excel to keep the data in the format I typed it and still be able to format it and use it as a number? Displaying the cell in scientific notation is not enough, because the exponent is not the same one as the one I typed.

• Slow SQL Sync with Microsoft Sync Framework on Mobile Client

  Hello, we are developing an application which uses MS Sync Framework to sync data between Windows CE 6.0 with SQL CE 3.5 SP1 Clients and an SQL 2008 Database. Our major problem is a slow sync time up to 1 minute for 15 tables which are totally empty. Here's a break down of our components: Server: Sql Server 2008 15 tables with activated change tracking WCF Service with endpoint for the mobile sync (uses Sync Framework 2.0) Client (Mobile) Windows CE 6.0 NET Application using Sync Framework for Devices (CTP 1) which starts the sync As I mentioned above, the sync takes up to 1 minute without any changes and empty tables. The mobile device is in its dock. This is a deal breaker for a production environment. Does anybody have any experience in this field? Is there a way to improve things? Thanks for any responses.

  I am soon to start with Microsoft Robotics Studio. My question is to all the gurus of MSRS, Can simple simulation (as obstacle avoidance and wall following) be done without any hardware ? Does MSRS have 3-dimensional as well as 2-dimensional rendering? As of now I do not have any hardware and I am only interested in simulation, when I have the robot hardware I may try to interface it! Sorry for a silly question, I am a MSRS noob, but have previous robotics h/w and s/w experience.

  I'm building a home office and looking for the ultimate desk. Lot's of resources about the great desk chairs, but very little on great modern desks. Requirements: $1000-$2000. Straight. No side cabinets. Attractive. Electric adjustable would be nice, but I haven't found very attractive looking one.   I am a 6th year medical student and I'm working on my thesis. I have no experience with programming whatsoever, a friend recommended me to post my question here. I am strugling with the following problem: I have data of 400 patients, stored in 400 different excel files. Each file contains 34 columns in a specific order, let's say A to Z. The order is the same in each of these 400 files. Now I need to a make a new excel document that contains the first column of each patient. So I need all the first columns of my 400 different excel files, lined up next to each other in a new document. Preferebally in the form of a automatic script. After that I want to do the exact same thing but for the second column, then the third and so on. This is probably a problem that has already been solved. Otherwise could someone help me out?   I've searched for a similar question here, but haven't been able to find something that answers my issue. I'm a mediocre user of Excel 2010 with no experience in macro's. I have a dataset where each row represents a data entry. Let's say each row can be for each of its values (the columns) the maximum or minimum of the entire dataset. How can I create a row at the top where the, for instance, maximum row is shown dynamicly? So when extra data is added to the bottom of the dataset, the new maximum (if applicable) is shown in that row at the top. Thank you in advance!

  New user to this site and found an extremely informative answer to a question I had but can't find an answer to this one. Using Access 2010, I have 42 different criteria that I need to run individually using the same query. Rather than have 42 queries, or an input parameter dialogue box where I need to enter the criteria 42 times, can I automate this so that the 42 criteria are sourced sequentially from a different table and input to the query using a macro/ module etc. Unfortunately I have no experience of SQL/VBA so am struggling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I am having some issues writing a Macro to do the following. I have a very long list of rooms with two columns one containing the room number i.e. B-CL102 and the other containing a varying integer.I am looking to create a new column that will contain another different integer for each of the rooms. Is there any way to write a Macro so that I can use two control cells at the top of the sheet, type the room number into one and the integer matching that room into another, then run the Macro and it will automatically populate the correct cell. Then I can change the two values in the control cells and run the Macro again and so on. Thanks for your help, I have a very minimal amount of experience with Macros essentially just the basics.   Every morning I receive an automatically generated e-mail from a server, it includes a spreadsheet attachment. I made a rule in outlook that captures these emails. Now, I would like to make a macro to rename the attached file (. Xls) to =today() and saves it in a folder on a network drive. This macro must run every weekday at 8:00. I've made a lot of VBA in Excel, but have no experience in outlook. Might this be possible? And does anyone know how to do it? Kind regards Staal

I don't have much experience working with migrating emails and in the past when moving servers all the emails have disappeared from the users local inbox, eg. MS Outlook. To make my question more clear, How do I know if I have to backup the emails before moving server? as I know sometimes they are stored locally and sometimes they are not. And, how do I know if the emails will remain on the user's machine once I move the information from server to server?

I tried to use a V-Lookup formula to look at the two control cells (Range) and then fill in the new column, however I don't know how to then fix that value so that it doesn't change when I change the values in the control cells.
