• Ext-GWT / GXT (Not So) Simple Layout Issue?

  Hi all, I have posted this question on the Ext-GWT forums, I am just hoping that someone here might have an answer for me! I am struggling to do something I initially thought was simple but am beginning to believe is impossible... I have got a "layout template" of sorts - simply consisting of a few GWT DockLayoutPanel's within each other and finally ending in LayoutPanels. GWT's LayoutPanel is designed to size the widget (or Composite) that's added to it to its full size and does so perfectly with pure GWT widgets. The idea of my "layout template" is that I don't know the EXACT height and width of the very inner LayoutPanel's because I may set certain panels sizes (of the outer DockLayoutPanels) differently when instantiating this template. All I would like is to add a Grid component to one of the inner most LayoutPanels and have it size itself (height AND width) to fit as normal GWT widgets do (works perfectly with a GWT Label for instance). I am VERY new to GXT (as in I started using it earlier today) and I do realize that GXT builds its Components differently to the way GWT builds its Widgets on the DOM. Is there anyway to achieve the desired result? I have tried adding the grid to a ContentPanel with a Layout of FitLayout, I have tried AnchorLayout, I have tried adding the grid directly... Nothing seems to work... Any advice or even a push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! Xandel

• When does a PHP <5.3.0 daemon script receive signals?

  I've got a PHP script in the works that is a job worker; its main task is to check a database table for new jobs, and if there are any, to act on them. But jobs will be coming in in bursts, with long gaps in between, so I devised a sleep cycle like: while(true) { if ($jobs = get_new_jobs()) { // Act upon the jobs } else { // No new jobs now sleep(30); } } Good, but in some cases that means there might be a 30 second lag before a new job is acted upon. Since this is a daemon script, I figured I'd try the pcntl_signal hook to catch a SIGUSR1 signal to nudge the script to wake up, like: $_isAwake = true; function user_sig($signo) { global $_isAwake; daemon_log("Caught SIGUSR1"); $_isAwake = true; } pcntl_signal(SIGUSR1, 'user_sig'); while(true) { if ($jobs = get_new_jobs()) { // Act upon the jobs } else { // No new jobs now daemon_log("No new jobs, sleeping..."); $_isAwake = false; $ts = time(); while(time() < $ts+30) { sleep(1); if ($_isAwake) break; // Did a signal happen while we were sleeping? If so, stop sleeping } $_isAwake = true; } } I broke the sleep(30) up into smaller sleep bits, in case a signal doesn't interrupt a sleep() command, thinking that this would cause at most a one-second delay, but in the log file, I'm seeing that the SIGUSR1 isn't being caught until after the full 30 seconds has passed (and maybe the outer while loop resets). I found the pcntl_signal_dispatch command, but that's only for PHP 5.3 and higher. If I were using that version, I could stick a call to that command before the if ($_isAwake) call, but as it currently stands I'm on 5.2.13. On what sort of situations is the signals queue interpreted in PHP versions without the means to explicitly call the queue parsing? Could I put in some other useless command in that sleep loop that would trigger a signal queue parse within there?

• CQRS - The query side

  A lot of the blogsphere articles related to CQRS (command query repsonsibility) seperation seem to imply that all screens/viewmodels are flat. e.g. Name, Age, Location Of Birth etc.. and thus the suggestion that implementation wise we stick them into fast read source etc.. single table per view mySQL etc.. and pull them out with something like primitive SqlDataReader, kick that nasty nhibernate ORM etc.. However, whilst I agree that domain models dont mapped well to most screens, many of the screens that I work with are more dimensional, and Im sure this is pretty common in LOB apps. So my question is how are people handling screen where by for example it displays a summary of customer details and then a list of their orders with a [more detail] link etc.... I thought about keeping with the straight forward SQL query to the Query Database breaking off the outer join so can build a suitable ViewModel to View but it seems like overkill? Alternatively (this is starting to feel yuck) in CustomerSummaryView table have a text/big (whatever the type is in your DB) column called Orders, and the columns for the Order summary screen grid are seperated by , and rows by |. Even with XML datatype it still feeel dirty. Any thoughts on an optimal practice?

  Im looking for some way of extrating data form a tree table as defined below. Table Tree Defined as :- TreeID uniqueidentifier TreeParent uniqueidentifier TreeCode varchar(50) TreeDesc varchar(100) Data some (23k rows), Parent Refs back into ID in table The following SQL renders the whole tree (takes arround 2 mins 30) I need to do the following. 1) Render each Tree Node with its LVL 1 parent 2) Render all nodes that have a Description that matches a TreeDesc like 'SomeText%' 3) Render all parent nodes that are for a single tree id. Items 2 and 3 take 2mins30 so this needs to be a lot faster! • Google App Engine (python): TemplateSyntaxError: 'for' statements with five words should end in 'rev

  This is using the web app framework, not Django. The following template code is giving me an TemplateSyntaxError: 'for' statements with five words should end in 'reversed' error when I try to render a dictionary. I don't understand what's causing this error. • Ruby Iconv works with irb and ruby debugger but not in a unit test

  I'm running Ruby 1.8.7 with Rails 2.3.5 on Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit. I've written a method that should take a string like this, "École À la Découverte" and output a file-system name like this "ecole_a_la_decouverte": (Iconv.new('US-ASCII//TRANSLIT', 'utf-8').iconv "École À la Découverte").gsub(/[^\w\s-\—]/,'').gsub(/[^\w]|[_]/,' ').split.join('_').downcase When I test this line in my code, the test always fails saying that "cole_la_dcouverte" is unequal to "ecole_a_la_decouverte". The odd thing is that if I insert a debugger line and use the debugger console the test passes. As well, running this line manually in irb seems to work. Does anyone know what's going on and why this test is failing? My only thought is that including the debugger or irb somehow adds more support for UTF-8 but I'm at a loss to figure out where to go next. Thanks in advance!

  Hi I have problem with using buttons that are placed in the itemtemplate of the listview which is placed in the itemtemplate of the outer listview. I'll try to simplify the code to show only the idea. I have a objects collection which looks like this: Main object contains a list of innerObjects. Every innerObject contains a list of objects that contain some strings. mainObject listItem innerListItem string string innerListItem string string listItem innerListItem string string I set a mainObject as a itemsSource to the ListView. This listView has a ItemTemplate. This ItemTemplate contains some buttons and inner ListView. Inner ListView also has the item template that contains a button (deleteButton). Pressing this deleteButton I want to delete items (innerListItem) for which this button was created. • Usng Rails ActiveRecord relationships

  I'm a newbie programmer, been doing shell scripting for years but have recently taken on OOP programming using Ruby and am creating a Rails application. I'm having a hard time getting my head wrapped around how to use my defined model relationships. I've tried searching Google, but all I can come up with are basically cheat sheets for what has_many, belongs_to, etc all mean. This stuff is easy to define & understand, especially since I've done a lot of work directly with SQL. What I don't understand is how to actually used those defined relationships. In my case I have 3 models: Locations Hosts Services Relationships (not actual code, just for shortening it): Services belongs_to :hosts Hosts has_many :services belongs_to :locations Locations has_many :hosts In this case I want to be able to display a column from Locations while working with Services. In SQL this is a simple join, but I want to do it the Rails/Ruby way, and also not use SQL in my code or redefine my joins.

  Hi I have two tables. There are users informations from two sites: p_users p_users2 There are 3726 users in first and 13717 in second. Some users in p_users2 are in p_users. I want merge this two tables to the one big table - but rows with same usernames can't be doubled. How can I do this? I tried something like this: DELETE FROM p_users2 WHERE user_id IN ( select p.user_id from p_users p join p_users2 p2 on p.username=p2.username ) After that I should receive a table with unique usernames, which I want to export and import to the first one. But when I execute my query I got error: SQL Error (1093): You can't specify target table 'p_users2' for update in FROM clause. (MYSQL)

  We took over a website from another company after a client decided to switch. We have a table that grows by about 25k records a day, and is currently at 15MM records. The table looks something like: id (PK, int, not null) member_id (int, not null) another_id (int, not null) date (datetime, not null) SELECT COUNT(id) FROM tbl can take up to 15 seconds. A simple inner join on 'another_id' takes over 30 seconds. I can't imagine why this is taking so long. Any advice? SQL Server 2005 Express

And from these nested tables I want to find the table which tabel has column header like NAME,ADDRESS,PHONE NO.So if table may be anywhere in the document even in the nested tables or anywhere it can be find through column header name.So I can parse the information from that table and skip the outer tabular information from that table.

  Currently, I have an HQL query that returns all Members who possess ANY Award from a set of specified Awards: from Member m left join m.awards as a where a.name in ("Trophy","Ribbon"); What I now need is HQL that will return all Members who possess ALL Awards specified in the set of Awards. So, assuming this data: Joe has Trophy, Medal Sue has Trophy, Ribbon Tom has Trophy, Ribbon, Medal The query above would return Joe, Sue, and Tom because all three possess at least one of Trophy or Ribbon. But I need to return only Sue and Tom, because they are the only ones who possess all of the specified awards (Trophy and Ribbon). • Using UpdatePanels inside of a ListView

  Hey everyone, I'm wondering if anybody has run across something similar to this before. Some quick pseudo-code to get started: <UpdatePanel> <ContentTemplate> <ListView> <LayoutTemplate> <UpdatePanel> <ContentTemplate> <ItemPlaceholder /> </ContentTemplate> </UpdatePanel> </LayoutTemplate> <ItemTemplate> Some stuff goes here </ItemTemplate> </ListView> </ContentTemplate> </UpdatePanel> The main thing to take away from the above is that I have an update panel which contains a listview; and then each of the listview items is contained in its own update panel. What I'm trying to do is when one of the ListView update panels triggers a postback, I'd want to also update one of the other ListView item update panels. A practical implementation would be a quick survey, that has 3 questions. We'd only ask Question #3 if the user answered "Yes" to Question #1. When the page loads; it hides Q3 because it doesn't see "Yes" for Q1. When the user clicks "Yes" to Q1, I want to refresh the Q3 update panel so it now displays. I've got it working now by refreshing the outer UpdatePanel on postback, but this seems inefficient because I don't need to re-evaluate every item; just the ones that would be affected by the prerequisite i detailed out above. I've been grappling with setting up triggers, but i keep coming up empty mainly because I can't figure out a way to set up a trigger for the updatepanel for Q3 based off of the postback triggered by Q1. Any suggestions out there? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

• Disable Return key outside textareas on a Asp.Net web page (containing ajax code)

  Hi, I have an Asp.Net web page, having the common Asp.Net form. The outer "border" of the page (i.e. main menu, header, ...) is build using normal Asp.Net code using a master page. The content of that page uses jQuery to display dynamic forms and to send data to the server. If I push the return key on that page, I jump to a (more or less) random page - which is not what the user expects. ;-) There are some text areas and the user must be able to enter line breaks. Otherwise it would be fine to disable the return key completely. Any bullet proof way to do that? I found some solutions on the web, which capture the keypress event and ignore \x13, but that does not really work. It works as long as the page has just loaded, but as soon as I have clicked on some elements, the return key behaves as usuall. Any hint would be really appreciated! Achim

  Hi all - I'm developing a simple LAMP app where users can credit their account using Paypal. I suspect this is a simple issue, but have spent quite a while experimenting to no avail and would appreciate any thoughts: System has a user management system working fine using sessions, but I can't get it to display the current user's credit. But I've been trying things along the lines of: $result = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM users INNER JOIN account ON account.UserID=account.UserID ORDER BY account.accountID"); while($_SESSION['Username'] = $row['Username'] ) { echo $row['Username']; echo $row['Credit']; } I suspect the while statement is invalid, but I want it to echo username and credit where the current session username = the username stored in the database.   Hi I want to use a gridview with sorting and paging to display data from an SQL server, the query uses 3 joins and the full text search containstable. The from part of the query uses all 3 tables in the join. What is the best way to do this? I can think of a stored procedure, SQL directly in the SQLDataSource and creating a view in the database. I want good performance and would like to leverage the automatic sorting and paging features of the gridview as much as possible.

• Can not parse tabular information from html document.

  I am parsing many html documents.I am using html agility pack And I want to parse the tabular information from each document. And there may be any number of tables in each document.But I want to extract only one table from each document which has column header name NAME,PHONE NO,ADDRESS.And this table can be anywhere in the document,like in the document there is ten tables and from ten table there is one table which has many nested tables and from nested table there may be a table what I want to extract means table can be anywhere in the document and I want to find that table from the document by column header name.If I got that table then I want to then extract the information from that table. Now I can find the table which has column header NAME,PHONE NO,ADDRESS and also can extract the information from that.I am doing for that is, first I find the all tables in a document by foreach (var table in doc.DocumentNode.Descendants("table")) then for each table got I find the row for each table like, var rows = table.Descendants("tr"); and then for each row I am checking that row has that header name NAME,ADDRESS,PHONENO and if it is then I skip that row and extract all information after that row foreach (var row in rows.Skip(rowNo)) { var data = new List<string>(); foreach (var column in row.Descendants("td")) { data.Add(properText); } } Such that I am extracting all information from almost many document. But now problem is sometimes what happened that in some document I can not parse the information.Like a document in which there are like 10 tables and from these 10 tables 1 table is like there are many nested tables in that table. And from these nested tables I want to find the table which tabel has column header like NAME,ADDRESS,PHONE NO.So if table may be anywhere in the document even in the nested tables or anywhere it can be find through column header name.So I can parse the information from that table and skip the outer tabular information of that table.

Probably should compare the input sound level in Chunk, but how do this?
