• dojo datagrid will make the page "jump" when sorting is changed

  Hi, I have a Dojo Datagrid in one of my pages (which contains more content) and the following problem occurs: As soon as I click on a column header to change the sorting, the page will jump up as if I clicked on some HTML-anchor. Funny enough, the page jump will make the grid show only the first two rows after it jumped, instead of (e.g.) have the grid start at the top of the page after the jump, which is the expected behaviour if an anchor is used. The problem occurs in different browsers (tested: Firefox 3.6, Opera 10, IE6), so I guess it might be a Dojo-problem/-bug. Any ideas to make this annoying behaviour stop?   Hi I have a function to return a DataView containing info on sheets in an Excel Workbook, as follows: Public Function GetSchemaInfo() As DataView Using connection As New OleDbConnection(GetConnectionString()) connection.Open() Dim schemaTable As DataTable = connection.GetOleDbSchemaTable(OleDbSchemaGuid.Tables, Nothing) connection.Close() Return New DataView(schemaTable) End Using End Function This works fine except that if the workbook has linked data (i.e. pulls its data from another workbook), duplicate sheet names are returned. For example, Workbook1 has a single worksheet, Sheet1. I get 2 rows in the DataView, with the TABLE_NAME field being "Sheet1$" and "Sheet1$_". OK, I could use a RowFilter, but wondered whether there was a better way or why this extra row is returned? thanks Richard

• excel 2007 vba: how to refer to HPageBreaks

  I'm trying to write a macro which can look into the list of horizontal page breaks that a worksheet keeps, and it seems like HPageBreaks should be exactly that. I can add or remove page breaks from it, but I can't seem to isolate the collection itself to look at its contents. Even adding a watch and looking at ActiveSheet.HPageBreaks just brings up a generic looking object with a count field equal to 0 regardless of existing page breaks. I'm really confused about this now. Is there any way to look into the existing page breaks within a sheet? A listing of what rows they occur on/between would be great.

  I want to implement a VBA function to number Excel rows based upon the grouping depth of the row. But I think a general algorithm for generating TOCs is more interesting. The problem is: Given a list of "indented" lines such as One Two Three Four Five Six (the "indentation level" may be assumed to be known and part of the input data) To generate the following output: 1. • DROP TABLE fails for temp table

  I have a client application that creates a temp table, the performs a bulk insert into the temp table, then executes some SQL using the table before deleting it. Pseudo-code: open connection begin transaction CREATE TABLE #Temp ([Id] AS int) bulk insert 500 rows into #Temp UPDATE [OtherTable] SET [Status]=0 WHERE [Id] IN (SELECT [Id] FROM #Temp) AND [Group]=1 DELETE FROM #Temp WHERE [Id] IN (SELECT [Id] FROM [OtherTable] WHERE [Group]=1) INSERT INTO [OtherTable] ([Group], [Id]) SELECT 1 as [Group], [DocIden] FROM #Temp DROP TABLE #Temp COMMIT TRANSACTION CLOSE CONNECTION This is failing with an error on the DROP statement: Cannot drop the table '#Temp', because it does not exist or you do not have permission. I can't imagine how this failure could occur without something else going on first, but I don't see any other failures occurring before this. Is there anything that I'm missing that could be causing this to happen?

• How would you audit ASP.NET Membership tables, while recording what user made the changes?

  Using a trigger-based approach to audit logging, I am recording the history of changes made to tables in the database. The approach I'm using (with a static sql server login) to record which user made the change involves running a stored procedure at the outset of each database connection. The triggers use this username when recording the audit rows. (The triggers are provided by the product OmniAudit.) However, the ASP.NET Membership tables are accessed primarily through the Membership API. I need to pass in the current user's identity when the Membership API opens its database connection. I tried subclassing MembershipProvider but I cannot access the underlying database connection. It seems like this would be a common problem. Does anyone know of any hooks we can access when the ASP.NET Membership makes its database connection?

• How to make a DropDownList control display some items in bold ASP.Net

  I'm working with a custom DropDownList control in ASP.Net and there's been a request to display certain items in the list with a bold typeface (NOTE - the control inherits from CompositeDataBoundControl so it can be data bound... not DropDownListBox). The control is bound to a table and there's a column in the table named IsUsed - if this is set to true, the corresponding item in the list should be rendered bold. (It should be noted here that this will only ever be viewed in FireFox.) My experience is all in the middle \ backend tiers so the presentation layer is very new to me - can someone point me in the right direction? My initial thought was that somewhere in the custom control I would have access to all the rows that are returned from the data source which I could cycle through etc but I'm not sure if that's possible... There's also RenderContents which I can override... looks interesting! Any help appreciated - cheers. James

• Google Analytics API - Tying Behavior to Specific Dates

  I am using the API to understand the performance of Adwords ad campaigns. I need to know how to attribute metrics back to the date dimension. For instance, for a given date, if I have 20 clicks, 18 visits, and 3 goal completions, does it mean that: 1) All of these actions happened on the day in question and are otherwise independent (meaning that the 3 goals could have been for people that clicked any time in the past 30 days, not who clicked on that day) 2) The on-site actions are a subset of the click activity on that day (i.e. on that day, 20 people clicked, 18 registered a real visit, and 3 completed a goal) If it is scenario 2, does that mean there is a need to refresh old rows every day?   how can I do a hierarchical clustering (in this case for gene expression data) in Python in a way that shows the matrix of gene expression values along with the dendrogram? What I mean is like the example here: http://www.mathworks.cn/access/helpdesk/help/toolbox/bioinfo/ug/a1060813239b1.html shown after bullet point 6 (Figure 1), where the dendrogram is plotted to the left of the gene expression matrix, where the rows have been reordered to reflect the clustering. How can I do this in Python using numpy/scipy or other tools? Also, is it computationally practical to do this with a matrix of about 11,000 genes, using euclidean distance as a metric? thanks.

  Hi, i have a question regarding some complex data-binding. I want to be able to update a grid (which has the property "IsItemsHost" set to true) dynamically whenever a data-binding occurs. To be more specific, i bind the grid to some items and i want to change the number of grid rows depending on these items, add something like a header (one row containing some text), and set the items' Grid.Row and Grid.Column using some custom logic. • Optimising SQL distance query

  I'm running an MySQL query that returns results based on location. However I have noticed recently that its really slowing down my PHP app. I used CodeIgniter and the profiler shows the query taking 4.2seconds. The geoname table has 500,000 rows. I have some indexes on the key columns, how else can speed up this query?   I am about building an C#-application in which I am trying to read text from an gif-image (OCR) - I am using MODI and the images are a bit like a lotto coupon (random numbers in rows and columns). I now got the following code which read all numbers except single numbers (1, 2, 3...) • SmartGWT Widgets not displaying properly

  I have a basic GWT Maven project going. I added SmartGWT and started playing around with some widgets and nothing displays correctly. The ListGrid seems to somewhat render but things are off and even data isnt showing up (though the rows respond to indicate there is data within the row). Sorting arrows dont appear but are clickable, and filters are wildy off. Whats causing this. I deleted everything in the .css file. GWT newbie here.

• What the heck is goin' on with the column Width or Why I do hate rdlc designer in VS...

  I can't understand... I put a column into a Tablix in .rdlc designer of VS2010 and defined column's width and even said that it cannot grow. And in the reportViewer when you run app. it gets grown again. Damn it. I replaced every single tag in the file to False - nothing happened, it still takes the width of a prior column. Interestingly some columns and rows that I put yesterday don't grow. I just wanted to separate group columns and 'Total' section with thin empty column, but it gets huge and ugly and spoils everything... damn that thing! Why the rdlc designer so damn stupid? Why sometimes it doesn't allow me to merge and split cells? Is there any better editor for .rdlc files?

• PHP array taking up too much memory

  I have a multidimensional array. The array itself is fine. My problem is that the script takes up monster amounts of memory, and since I'm running this on my MAMP install on my iBook G4, my computer freezes up. I expected to receive a "No records found' when there were no records, but instead I'm receiving a null result. • UILabel background color not updating in UITableView

  I'm having a perplexing problem with a simple UILabel I put on a cell in a UITableView. I enter a separate view after tapping on a row, like many UITableViews. In there, I update the cell so that when I return to the rows, it should be updated, with this: MyTableViewCell* cell = (MyTableViewCell*) [mTableView cellForRowAtIndexPath: [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:mActiveRow inSection:0]]; cell.myLabel.text = @"New Value"; // updated text cell.myLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor greenColor]; // updated color When I return, though, only the text is updated, not the color. When I scroll the row off the screen and return it refreshes properly via another path of code that has exactly the same code. Could there be some trigger to refresh specifically the background color of the UILabel? I'm not sure why the text will refresh but the color won't.

  I am using a module that is part of a commercial software API. The good news is there is a python module - the bad news is that its pretty unpythonic. To iterate over rows, the follwoing syntax is used: cursor = gp.getcursor(table) row = cursor.Next() while row: #do something with row row = cursor.next() What is the most pythonic way to deal with this situation? I have considered creating a first class function/generator and wrapping calls to a for loop in it: def cursor_iterator(cursor): row = cursor.Next() while row: yield row row = cursor.next() [...] cursor = gp.getcursor(table) for row in cursor_iterator(cursor): # do something with row This is an improvement, but feels a little clumsy. Is there a more pythonic approach? Should I create a wrapper class around the table type?

• Apache Cassandra overwhelming bandwidth overhead

  while testing Apache Cassandra, I inserted 1000 rows of data. I allow it to propagate to the other machine on LAN. This is a 2 machine cluster. I monitor the network connection between the two machine. The total data I expected to flow between the two servers should be around 25Mb including all column names, column values and timestamps). But the actual data sent and received between them was an whopping 362Mb!! Anybody knows why is there such an overwhelming overhead? Thank you

  I want to use document.createDocumentFragment() to create an optimized collection of HTML elements that contain ".data" coming from jQuery (v 1.4.2), but I'm kind of stuck on how to get the data to surface from the HTML elements. I suspect it's probably something with .cloneNode() not carrying over the data when the element is appended to the documentFragment. • Jasper exported to Excel ignoring background color?

  Have you ever had alternating background colors in a Jasper report and then exported it to Excel? The Excel export seems to ignore the alternating color. I've got a Jasper report where the rows alternating background color using the procedure referenced HERE. When I preview it using the viewer or export to PDF it works -- but not when I export to Excel. I've tried using JRXlsExporter and JExcelApiExporter both to no avail. I think it might be a side-effect of how you have to make alternating row colors in Jasper, which I despise to begin with, but have found no other way. Thanks in advance!

  I have a datatable bound to a winforms dataGridView via a BindingSourceControl. I want to be able handle the UserDeletingRow event from the dataGridView and mark the row in my dataTable as deleted. I need to then be able to retrieve the rows marked as deleted from the datatable so that I can delete them from my database when a Save button is clicked. Please not I dont want to delete from the database on each firing of UserDeletingRow, only mark that row as deleted in my dataset. Can anyone point out how to do this?

• OpenCV SVD Matrix format.

  I currently have a set of 2D Cartesian coordinates e.g. {(1,3), (2,2), (3,4)} Which will be put into a 2D array, to perform SVD properly would the matrix be put together such that the coordinates form the columns or the rows e.g. 1 3 2 2 3 4 or 1 2 3 3 2 4 I have been doing a little trial and error comparing to examples of SVD I have found online, the resulting matrix usually seems to be negated, with some of the values shuffled around. To clarify further if I had a matrix E which was MxN as shown here http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bb/Matrix.svg To define the matrix as a 2D array would it be Array[M][N] or Array[N][M] I am assuming this actually matters due to matrix arithmetic not being commutative? Can anyone actually verify this?
