• Scheme open source projects?

  Hi I'm learning scheme and was wondering if there are any active open-source projects I might be able to get involved in? I'm nearing the end of SICP and although this has good complex examples no textbook code compares to real-world applications. eg testing code / benchmarking / revision control styles / sheer size and scope etc. Hence my curiousity at seeing a project in the wild. I tried searching google code but only found projects that are interpreters that implement RSR5/6. Perhaps there are not many projects out there and I should consider scala?! Advice or even pointers to specific projects appreciated.

  Hi, I want to extract method body from a Java Source Code. Suppose I have the following code: public class A{ public void print(){ System.out.println("Print This thing"); System.out.println("Print This thing"); System.out.println("Print This thing"); } } My objective is not to extract the method name (in this case print) but also the bode of the method(In this case the three print statement inside the print method).   Hello everyone, I need to develop an instant messenger (like MSN Messagner, but only simple and basic function is fine), based on .Net (C#). I want to integrate the instant messenger with my current web site user. I want to know any open source (better C#) instant messenger to reference? BTW: some of the users are using internal IP address (behind a gateway or proxy, like 10.10.xxx.xxx) -- so in this scenario two users can not use point to point message transfer if both of them are behind a gateway? • Looking for a source code management system with a good GUI client

  We are currently using CS-RCS Pro for source code management, and are looking for to replace this due to performance issues. It is based on client side file access with no own protocol, which makes it painfully slow to use over a slow VPN line since it always rewrites the whole history of a file. It does however have a GUI client which is very simple and gives a great overview. We have three main requirements in a SCM: Fast. It must have a server side service or some other smart way so working with files with a large history is fast. A good Windows GUI client (not Explorer shell integration, not VS or Eclipse IDE integration), so working with files and branches is easy. The possibility to have several branches checked out at once in different directories. Does anyone have a recommendation of a SCM which fulfills there requirements?

• What is the most elegant way to deal with sourced files that themselves source (relative) source fil

  I am editing a file like /path/to/file.txt with vim, hence the current directory is /path/to. Now, I have a directory /other/path/to/vim/files that contains sourceA.vim. Also, there is a sourceB.vim file in /other/path/to/vim/files/lib/sourceB.vim In sourceA.vim, I want to source sourceB.vim, so I put a so lib/sourceB.vim into it. Now, in my file.txt, I do a :so /other/path/to/vim/files/sourceA.vim which fails, because the sourcing system is obviously not prepared for relative path names along with sourcing from another directory. In order to fix this, I put a execute "so " . expand("<sfile>:p:h") . "/lib/sourceB.vim" into sourceA.vim which does what I want. However, I find the solution a bit clumsy and was wondering if there is a more elegant solution to it. I cannot put the sourceA.vim nor sourceB.vim into vim's plugin folder.

• Lightweight open source CMS - current situation

  Hello, It happened that I need to pick up PHP based open source CMS. I did a small research and found many candidates. CMS made simple seems to be right choice, but I am not sure what's the current state, I know it was widely used time ago. I need it to be fully compliant with web standarts, lightweight (especially interface). It needs to be as simple as possible - basically just style and page content editing (news, maybe some image gallery) is enough. Sure content and style have to be separated from each other since content will be edited by non-programmer. One of the main goals is SEO so I'd like it to have friendly URLs. I think CMSes like Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress are too big for this project. Are there any recommendations ?

  I'm starting on my first business project (.NET) and am trying to follow DDD principles. Are there any guidelines or common patterns for orgaining source code and namespaces? For example, do your domain objects go in a namespace MyProject.Domain or whatever? Would you separate the concrete implementations and the interfaces? In different namespaces? Different folders? Different solutions? I know a lot of this is subjective and dependent on project size, but a few pointers or suggestions to get started on a relatively small but extensible n-tier project would be useful.

• change label text from a VB6 binary (not source code)

  Hi, we have a VB6 binary executable that comes with no source code. And we need to change the label text for that VB6 application from "AAA" to "BBB". Is there any way or tools that can do that? The closest tool I can find right now is microsoft UISpy, it can read all the other elements but not the label. I hope there is a tool that can change the resource in the .exe so that the label "AAA" will read "BBB". Or is it possible to write a wrapper application, it will launch the .exe, examine the application screen for "AAA" and change that to "BBB"? Thank you for your help!

• Is System.Windows.Media.RenderCapability the wrong source to detect the current render-mode

  I use System.Windows.Media.RenderCapability.Tier to show the current render mode within a diagnostics panel of my app. If I force the app to change the render-mode through the following code HwndSource hwndSource = PresentationSource.FromVisual(visual) as System.Windows.Interop.HwndSource; HwndTarget hwndTarget = hwndSource.CompositionTarget; hwndTarget.RenderMode = renderMode; neither System.Windows.Media.RenderCapability.TierChanged fires, nor has the System.Windows.Media.RenderCapability.Tier property changed. However the changes are applied to the app. If I look with Perforator, the render mode has been changed to the desired mode. Although I’ve found at many locations that System.Windows.Media.RenderCapability.Tier can be used to detect the current render state (also msdn, see this), it seems, System.Windows.Media.RenderCapability only gives information about the capabilities and not about the current mode. That makes also sense if I look at the name of the class. Is there another source to know how an actual wpf-content is rendered or am I doing something wrong?

  This is probably an easy question... I have 4 source versions of the same software in 4 different directories. I have just started using git for version control. To date, I have just been snapping a desperate copy rolling forward. I want to merge all versions (1.0.0.1, 1.0.0.2, 1.0.0.3, 1.0.1.0) together so that I will have a reference history. Opposed to just starting out with 1.0.1.0 as the initial version. I want to get this sort of thing right form the start. Can someone outline the basic steps to accomplish this? Thanks much, XO

When I create a connection via the designer, the "Choose Data Source" dialog only lists the following data sources: Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 Microsoft SQL Server Database File When I create a connection on the Server explorer the list is complete with : Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5, Microsoft SQL Server Database File, Microsoft SQL Server Compact, ODBC etc. Please help me out. I need to use SQL Server Compact.   Hello, I know this may be a recurring topic, but I have read a lot of articles and I still have doubts. Also, I would like to hear more recent opinions about this. The main requirements of my application server are: flexible configuration, support for a extremely high number of concurrent users. It will be a system for the mobile communications industry, so it must have high availability as well. I am going to develop a J2EE application and Open Source Applications Servers are my only option. I have use GlassFish for a very small project and I really liked it. • Rails: What's the suggested approach to retrieve xml from an outside source

  Rails newbie (though long time programmer) here. I'm writing an test app that retrieves data from several outside sources (think Twitter, RSS feeds, etc.) and under certain circumstances, it stores that data in a db (or presents it to the user). The data model and the views are trivial. What I'm having difficulty with is making the actual xml HTTP call to the outside source and deserialize the xml response so I can query/use it in my controller/helper. What library/gem should I use to accomplish this? I tried looking this up around the net, but only came up with some article from 2006 which, knowing how fast Rails has developed, might well be completely deprecated. Your help is much appreciated.

There are html and css templates, templates for Wordpress, all sorts of different cms templates, e-ecommerce templates, etc. Many of these are pretty cheap and some are even free, so where do web designers fit into this picture? I’ve had many clients and potential customers ask why they should use my services instead of just buying a cheap template. Are web designers being replaced?

  Greeting, I'm trying to put some Beanshell script in my Ant build.xml file. I've followed the Ant manual as well as I can but I keep getting "Unable to create javax script engine for beanshell" when I run Ant. Here is the test target I wrote mostly from examples in the Ant manual: <target name="test-target"> <script language="beanshell" setbeans="true"> <classpath> <fileset dir="c:\TEMP" includes="*.jar" /> </classpath> System.out.println("Hello world"); </script> </target> My beanshell "bsh-2.0b4.jar" file is on the script task's classpath the way the manual recommended.   I'm about to start integrating ASP.NET MVC into an existing 200k+ line classic ASP application. Rewriting the existing code (which runs an entire business, not just the public-facing website) is not an option. Since the existing formatting and library includes are used very extensively, they must be maintained. I'd like to avoid having to maintain two separate versions. • WPF Spellcheck Engine takes up too much memory.

  Each datatemplate in my WPF ItemsControl contains FIVE custom bindable richtextbox controls. It is a data-driven app that for authoring multiple-choice questions -- The question and four answer choices must all support: 1) Spell check 2) Rich formatting (otherwise I'd use regular textboxes) The spell check object in .NET 4 has a Friend constructor that takes a single argument of owner As TextBoxBase This means every richtextbox in the ItemsControl has 5 Spellcheck objects! This is the problem -- every spell check engine is consuming about 500k memory. So after you favor in the spellcheck, bindings, additional controls in the DataTemplate, etc.. a single multi choice question consumes more than 3MB memory. Users with 100--200 questions will quickly see the App raise it's memory consumption to 500+ MB. Management is definitely not OK with this. Is there a way to minimimze this problem? The best suggestion I've heard is to enable/disable spellcheck if the richtextbox is in the ItemsControl's scrollviewer: I haven't gotten an answer to how to go about it: (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2869012/possible-to-implement-an-isviewportvisible-dependencyproperty-for-an-item-in-an-i) Any good ideas?

I'm new to python and as I learn the language I've managed to write a little MVC framework running in its own light-weight-WSGI-like server. • How to iterate JPA collections in Google App engine

  Hi I use Google App Engine with datanucleus and JPA. I'm having a real hard time grasping how I'm supposed to read stuff from data store and pass it to JSP. If I load a list of POJOs with entitymanager and pass it to JSP, it crashes to org.datanucleus.exceptions.NucleusUserException: Object Manager has been closed. I understand why this is happening. Obviously because I fetch the list, close the entity manager and pass it to JSP, at which point it will fail because the list is lazy. How do I make the list NOT lazy without resorting to hacks like calling size() or something like that? • Custom View Engine in ASP.NET MVC 2 does not work with Areas

  I used the code below so far with ASP.NET MVC v1 and v2 but when I added an Area today to my application, the controller for the area couldn't find any views in my Areas/Views/controllerView folder. It issued the very well known exception that it searched those 4 standard folders but it did not look under Areas.. How can I change the code so that it will work with Areas? Maybe an example of custom view engine under ASP.NET MVC 2 with Areas support? The information about it on the net is very scarse.. • is there a signal emiter/consumer engine (like in Django) for .NET (C#)

  Has .NET (C#) anything like Django's Signals engine? Our business logic become really complicated over few years of adding new features. I'm going to re-architecture it. Currently all features are very coupled that makes regression errors while changing something one one place - some other place may be broken. I really like Django's apps idea where separate applications introduce new functionality and are absolutely separate. Communication between apps is implemented though signals. I wounder if there is something in .NET that allows to divide project business to many separated "apps" (plug-ins, zones, modules, you name it) and make communication using some kind of "signals". For example we have simple order flow. We can add "coupon app" that if exists in the project adds abilities to use discount coupon. We can add "cross sale" module that if exists adds abilities to offer cross-sale products Email notification module that if exists adds abilities to send order email notifications. But in the same time all this modules are "self-contained" means that communication between them is done using emitting signals (ORDER_PROCCESS_START, ORDER_SUCCESS, etcs) and other modules can subscribe to this signals and process them in required way. This architecture is not related to web, all business logic is processed on the server side like without working with HTTP directly. I wonder if it's good architecture from code maintaining and testing point of few, is it possible to do this in .NET? Any drawbacks that I don't realize now?

• Javascript Graph Layout Engine

  I'm looking for a Javascript library/engine that can do graph layouts. (And when I say layouts, I mean logically position vertices nicely.) The graphs I'm working with are all m-ary trees. M is usually no more than 5 or 6, but it can be greater in some cases. I do have something that I use now, Graphviz's node program, and it works perfectly. The problem is, when running a web app, I have to send a request to the server every time I want a layout. Preferably, I would like something written in Javascript that can be quickly run on the client side. All it needs to do is provide layout information (relative positioning and whatnot). I don't need it to draw to a canvas or use SVG or anything, all I'm interested in is the layout. Library use like jQuery or RaphaelJS is fine by me. I'll work with it. I'm just looking for something to speed things along a little. Also, I'd consider writing my own if I could find a nice description of an algorithm to do the layouts. But I really don't want to spend too much time. I have something that works now, so getting it on the client side is just a bonus, not a necessity.
