  • BASH Script to cd to directory with spaces in pathname

    - by Rails Newbie
Argggg. I've been struggling with this stupid problem for days and I can't find an answer. I'm using BASH on Mac OS X and I'd like to create a simple executable script file that would change to another directory when it's run. However, the path to that directory has spaces in it. How the heck do you do this? This is what I have... Name of file: cdcode File contents: cd ~/My Code Now granted, this isn't a long pathname, but my actual pathname is five directories deep and four of those directories have spaces in the path. BTW, I've tried cd "~/My Code" and cd "~/My\ Code" and neither of these worked. If you can help, THANKS! This is driving me crazy!!

  • Viewing directory containing MIME encoded email messages

    - by Mark
I have an application which generates and sends MIME encoded messages (javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage) through an SMTP server. As part of the development process only, I'd like to be able to view these messages rather than send them (I know the sending works just fine, but there are restrictions on the domains within the dev environment which makes it a little difficult) I thought the easiest way would be to save the text for each message to a directory, then point "an app" at the directory and check them over. So the question is, what would be a good app to use? Is it as simple as configuring Outlook or another email client to do it? Thanks

  • Eclipse buildpath automatically taking all JARs of a internal directory

    - by Niko
How do I configure my project buildpath to have a set of .jar files located in the same directory automatically included in the buildpath ? Meaning that adding a new .jar file to this directory (and refreshing the project) updates the buildpath ? Rem : I am not working in a Webapp but in a standalone Java app. I know that it is possible in a Dynamic Web Project to have all the .jars located in WEB-INF/lib to be included in the build path. Is it possible to do kind of the same include but in standalone app ? I am using Eclipse 3.4

  • cannot create new object in ActiveDirectory

    - by Humanier
    Hi. I'm trying to add new object to existing organisational unit in Active Directory. Following code is used to do this. It runs without errors. But new object is not created after this. Please advise what I'm doing wrong here. using System.DirectoryServices; using System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory; namespace TestAdObjectCreation { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { DirectoryEntry root = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://servername/OU=Services,OU=PCX,DC=q2q,DC=xenyq,DC=com", "Administrator", "pass"); DirectoryEntry newItem = root.Children.Add("test_node", "valid_schema_class_name"); root.CommitChanges(); root.Close(); root.Dispose(); } } }

  • Moving directory after compilation of R

    - by CravingSpirit
I compiled R in /tmp/R-3.0.0 and then moved it to /home/user/opt/R-3.0.0, then I got an error when executing R: /home/kaiyin/opt/R-3.0.0/bin/R: line 236: /tmp/R-3.0.0/etc/ldpaths: No such file or directory ERROR: R_HOME ('/tmp/R-3.0.0') not found If I export R_HOME='/home/kaiyin/opt/R-3.0.0', it still gives almost the same error: WARNING: ignoring environment value of R_HOME /home/kaiyin/opt/R-3.0.0/bin/R: line 236: /tmp/R-3.0.0/etc/ldpaths: No such file or directory ERROR: R_HOME ('/tmp/R-3.0.0') not found Is there a way to solve this, or do I have to recompile it?

  • Java import from other directory

    - by heldopslippers
Hi People! I am building a Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) with Java. I won't get into details But I have to build multiple servers who make use of the same classes. I have the following directory structure: /server1 -Main.java /server2 -Main.java /com -Database.java I want to import from the Main.java class for example the Database.class. But of course the following statements won't work: import com.Database; I am working with the javac compiler in the command line (so not eclipse stuff or whatever. just TextMate and the command line). And I found a (pretty stupid) solution by creating a symbolic link in the servers to the com directory. But that is not really an ideal solution. Does anybody have a better one?? THANXS in advanced!! :D

  • Need to have JProgress bar to measure progress when copying directories and files

    - by user1815823
    I have the below code to copy directories and files but not sure where to measure the progress. Can someone help as to where can I measure how much has been copied and show it in the JProgress bar public static void copy(File src, File dest) throws IOException{ if(src.isDirectory()){ if(!dest.exists()){ //checking whether destination directory exisits dest.mkdir(); System.out.println("Directory copied from " + src + " to " + dest); } String files[] = src.list(); for (String file : files) { File srcFile = new File(src, file); File destFile = new File(dest, file); copyFolder(srcFile,destFile); } }else{ InputStream in = new FileInputStream(src); OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(dest); byte[] buffer = new byte[1024]; int length; while ((length = in.read(buffer)) > 0){ out.write(buffer, 0, length); } in.close(); out.close(); System.out.println("File copied from " + src + " to " + dest); }

  • What is a good way of coding a file processing program, which accepts multisource data in Java

    - by jjepsuomi
I'm making a data prosessing system, which currently is using csv-data as input and output form. In the future I might want to add support for example database-, xml-, etc. typed input and output forms. How should I desing my program so that it would be easy to add support for new type of data sources? Should simply make for example an abstract data class (which would contain the basic file prosessing methods) and then inherit this class for database, xml, etc. cases? Hope my question is clear =) In other words my question is: "How to desing a file prosessing system, which can be easily updated to accept input data from different sources (database, XML, Excel, etc.)".

  • Reading a simple Avro file from HDFS

    - by John Galt... who
I am trying to do a simple read of an Avro file stored in HDFS. I found out how to read it when it is on the local file system.... FileReader reader = DataFileReader.openReader(new File(filename), new GenericDatumReader()); for (GenericRecord datum : fileReader) { String value = datum.get(1).toString(); System.out.println("value = " value); } reader.close(); My file is in HDFS, however. I cannot give the openReader a Path or an FSDataInputStream. How can I simply read an Avro file in HDFS? EDIT: I got this to work by creating a custom class (SeekableHadoopInput) that implements SeekableInput. I "stole" this from "Ganglion" on github. Still, seems like there would be a Hadoop/Avro integration path for this. Thanks

  • git - is there a way to get only required files in the working directory

    - by spoonboy
I'm new to git and trying to use it with a project that has many (several hundreds) sources. The problem I have is that git is extracting all the project's sources to my working directory when doing checkout. This makes a lot of mess as I have to jump between the files and can unintentionally change/corrupt files that I wasn't even planning to change. I would prefer to extract only sources that I'm going to modify and then work with them. So, is there a way to tell git that I only going to work with specific sources, and so, that only these sources would be extracted to the working directory? Note, that this is not a partial checkout or something like this. I'm ok to checkout the whole branch. It's more about organising a working folder. Thanks.

  • Python read files in directory and concatenate

    - by JJ Beck
I want to write a Python script that searches all folders in the current directory, looks for all .txt files, and creates a file that is a concatenation of all those files (in any order) in the current directory. If folders have subfolders, it should not search those subfolders. An example is main_folder folder_1 sub_folder file1.txt file2.txt folder_2 file3.txt The script is placed inside main_folder. It should create a file that is a concatenation of file2.txt and file3.txt (in any order) inside main_folder. My question is: How can I tell Python to traverse through the folders, look for .txt files, without going into the subfolders?

  • C# directory to "play with"

    - by Adam S
Simple question here. I have a C# program which needs to stores some files onto the hard drive, but I don't need them to be anywhere useful to the end-user, only somewhere that the program can read/write from. Is there a directory that I can reference programmatically to be my "filespace playground" - that is, that I can read/write freely to and from? EDIT: Also, if I use a temp directory, how long are the files guaranteed to be there? I don't want the them to disappear while my program is still running!

  • Why can't I view a directory in Linux?

    - by Thread7
I am setting up a Linux web server running apache. I uploaded and untared my web sites files. The files in the main directory are all visible when I am SSH'd into the system. However, I am blocked from all subdirectories. If I write: # cd images Then I get the error: -bash: cd: images: Permission denied I am signed in as ec2-user. I untarred the stuff as ec2-user and I doubt there was any permissions in the tar file since I created the archive on a Windows system. The weird thing is that I am the owner of this directory. Here is a snippet of the command: ls -l drw-rw-r-- 19 ec2-user ec2-user 4096 May 4 04:09 images When I do "sudo su" and then type the command cd images everything is fine. Why do I get "Permission denied" as ec2-user if I am the owner and have rw permission?

  • Rsync module path needs to be a home directory

    - by Malfist
I'm trying to use rsync to backup windows servers to an rsync server. I'm having problems with rsync on the linux side though, it doesn't like symlinks. Currently I'm trying to use the module path of ~/backup, but rsync says that the chroot failed. I looked up what to do and saw that I needed to add the option use chroot = no and munge symlinks = no. That fixed the @ERROR: chroot failed but now it's telling me @ERROR: chdir failed and the log files say that there is no ~/backup directory. I know the user I'm authenticating with has a backup folder in his directory. How can I fix this? For reference I'm using a .NET port of rsync called NetSync and tunneling it over a port forwarded SSH connection generated with granados.

  • No such file or directory python in linux only (coming from windows)

    - by user1804633
I have the same exact directory structure within a folder in Windows & in Linux (Debian) - where the script is along the static + dataoutput folders How come the following code works fine in Windows, but gives a no such file or directory path error in linux? @app.route('/_getdataoutputfilelisting') def getdataoutputfilelisting(): listoffilesindataouput = getfiles('static/dataoutput') return jsonify(listoffiles = listoffilesindataouput) def getfiles(dirpath): a = [s for s in os.listdir(dirpath) if os.path.isfile(os.path.join(dirpath, s))] a.sort(key=lambda s: os.path.getmtime(os.path.join(dirpath, s))) a.reverse() return a Is there a way to make it universal such that it works in both OSs? • Installing Lubuntu 14.04.1 forcepae fails

    - by Rantanplan
I tried to install Lubuntu 14.04.1 from a CD. First, I chose Try Lubuntu without installing which gave: ERROR: PAE is disabled on this Pentium M (PAE can potentially be enabled with kernel parameter "forcepae" ... Following the description on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PAE, I used forcepae and tried Try Lubuntu without installing again. That worked fine. dmesg | grep -i pae showed: [ 0.000000] Kernel command line: file=/cdrom/preseed/lubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash -- forcepae [ 0.008118] PAE forced! On the live-CD session, I tried installing Lubuntu double clicking on the install button on the desktop. Here, the CD starts running but then stops running and nothing happens. Next, I rebooted and tried installing Lubuntu directly from the boot menu screen using forcepae again. After a while, I receive the following error message: The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again. Hitting Enter brings me to the desktop. For what errors should I search? And how? Finally, I rebooted once more and tried Check disc for defects with forcepae option; no errors have been found. Now, I am wondering how to find the error or whether it would be better to follow advice c in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PAE: "Move the hard disk to a computer on which the processor has PAE capability and PAE flag (that is, almost everything else than a Banias). Install the system as usual but don't add restricted drivers. After the install move the disk back." Thanks for some hints! • NHibernate + Remoting = ReflectionPermission Exception

    - by Pedro
Hi all, We are dealing with a problem when using NHibernate with Remoting in a machine with full trust enviroment (actually that's our dev machine). The problem happens when whe try to send as a parameter an object previously retrieved from the server, that contains a NHibernate Proxy in one of the properties (a lazy one). As we are in the dev machine, there's no restriction in the trust level of the web app (it's set to Full) and, as a plus, we've configured NHibernate's and Castle's assemblies to full trust in CAS (even thinking that it'd not be necessary as the remoting app in IIS has the full trust level). Does anyone have any idea of what can be causing this exception? Stack trace below. • Forms Authentication & Virtual Directory

    - by benclaytonfranklin
Hi, We're having trouble getting Forms Authentication to work with a virtual directory in IIS. We have a main site, and then a microsite setup within a virtual directory. This mircosite has its own admin system within an "Admin" folder, which has authentication on it but currently it is not kicking in and the admin section is browsable by anyone. The web.config with the admin folder has the following: <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <appSettings/> <connectionStrings/> <system.web> <authorization> <deny users="?"/> </authorization> <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="~/Admin/Error.aspx"/> </system.web> </configuration> Could anyone give me any clues as to why this might not be working? Cheers!
