• BIND split-view DNS config problem

  We have two DNS servers: one external server controlled by our ISP and one internal server controlled by us. I'd like internal requests for foo.example.com to map to 192.168.100.5 and external requests continue to map to 1.2.3.4, so I'm trying to configure a view in bind. Unfortunately, bind fails when I attempt to reload the configuration. • I can't see headers or footers on Word 2007 unless in full screen view

  I have a machine on a domain that does not show any headers or footers when viewing documents in word 2007, unless I switch to full screen mode. • Save a view in Windows Media Player

  I like to view my library in various ways in WMP. For example, I usually search for Podcast and order the result by date added. This gives me a list of my podcasts by date order, newest to oldest. Is there a way of saving this view so that I don't have recreate it each time I open WMP? If it's not possible to do this, can anyone suggest an app that does do it, and that handles syncing as well as WMP.

• Reputable web based ssh client?

I googled "web based ssh clients" however I have reservations about entering my login credentials on any Joe Schmoe's web app. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any reputable web based ssh clients? If so could you please point me at one that I could trust?

• Sharing svn reposities between web servers

  I have my subversion hosting set up to be accessed through Apache web server. Everything runs fine. Now I'd like to add another web server to distribute the load between two web servers. Is it save to have my svn repositories accessed by two web servers at the same time? Does the normal fsfs subversion repository type protect me enough or do I need to switch to Berkely DB for this sort of thing?

  I have a site(IIS) that is accessed via a proxy in apache(on an IBM i). This site serves PDFs which has quick web view and if I access a pdf directly from the IIS server the PDFs starts to display immediately but if I go through the proxy I have to wait until the entire pdf downloads before I can view it. • debugging JBoss 100% CPU usage

  We are using JBoss to run two of our WARs. One is our web app, the other is our web service. The web app accesses a database on another machine and makes requests to the web service. The web service makes JMS requests to other machines, aggregates the data, and returns it. At our biggest client, about once a month the JBoss Java process takes 100% of all CPUs. The machine running JBoss has 8 CPUs. Our web app is still accessible during this time, however pages take about 3 minutes to load. Restarting JBoss restores everything to normal. The database machine and all the other machines are fine, only the machine running JBoss is affected. Memory usage is normal. Network utilization is normal. There are no suspect error messages in the JBoss logs. I have set up a test environment as close as possible to the client's production environment and I've done load testing with as much as 2x the number of concurrent users. I have not gotten my test environment to replicate the problem. Where do we go from here? How can we narrow down the problem? Currently the only plan we have is to wait until the problem occurs in production on its own, then do some debugging to determine the cause. So far people have just restarted JBoss when the problem occurred to minimize down time. Next time it happens they will get a developer to take a look. The question is, next time it happens, what can be done to determine the cause? We could setup a separate JBoss instance on the same box and install the web app separately from the web service. This way when the problem next occurs we will know which WAR has the problem (assuming it is our code). This doesn't narrow it down much though. Should I enable JMX remote? This way the next time the problem occurs I can connect with VisualVM and see which threads are taking the CPU and what the hell they are doing. However, is there a significant down side to enabling JMX remote in a production environment? Is there another way to see what threads are eating the CPU and to get a stacktrace to see what they are doing? Any other ideas? Thanks!

• DNS MX record workaround

  I use a tk domain name and another web host to host my blog site. I redirect DNS query to xxxhost.[myhost].com and tell my web host my domain name. (since my web host is virtual one) This works OK. But now I want to use an email service provided by third party, which requires adding a MX record to my DNS service. But this cannot be done on my web host management pages. Is there any workaround for this?

• Cant bind data to a table view

  Hi, I have retrieved data from Json URL and displayed it in a table view. I have also inlcuced a button in table view. On clicking the button the data must be transferred to a another table view. • Partial view is not rendering within the main view it's contained (instead it's rendered in it's own page)?

  I have a partial view that is contained in a simple index view. When I try to add a new object to my model and update my partial view to display that new object along with existing objects the partial view is rendered outside the page that it's contained? I'm using AJAX to update the partial view but what is wrong with the following code? • Web Site Performance and Assembly Versioning

  I originally wanted to write this post in one, but there is quite a large amount of information which can be broken down into different areas, so I am going to publish it in three posts. Minification and Concatination of JavaScript and CSS Files – this post Versioning Combined Files Using Subversion – published shortly Versioning Combined Files Using Mercurial – published shortly Website Performance There are many ways to improve web site performance, two areas are reducing the amount of data that is served up from the web server and reducing the number of files that are requested. Here I will outline the process of minimizing and concatenating your javascript and css files automatically at build time of your visual studio web site/ application. To edit the project file in Visual Studio, you need to first unload it by right clicking the project in Solution Explorer. I prefer to do this in a third party tool such as Notepad++ and save it there forcing VS to reload it each time I make a change as the whole process in Visual Studio can be a bit tedious. Now you have the project file, you will notice that it is an MSBuild project file. I am going to use a fantastic utility from Microsoft called Ajax Minifier. This tool minifies both javascript and css. 1. Import the tasks for AjaxMin choosing the location you installed to. I keep all third party utilities in a Tools directory within my solution structure and source control. This way I know I can get the entire solution from source control without worrying about what other tools I need to get the project to build locally. 1: <Import Project="..\Tools\MicrosoftAjaxMinifier\AjaxMin.tasks" /> 2. Now create ItemGroups for all your js and css files like this. Separating out your non minified files and minified files. • WCF AuthenticationService in IIS7 Error

  I have a WCF Server running on IIS 7 using default application pool, with SSL activate, the services is installed in a SBS Server 2008. I implement client application services with wcf and SQL 2005 for setting the access control in my application. The application run under windows vista and is make with WPF. In my developer machine the application and the WCF services run well, the IIS i'm use for the trials is the local IIS 7 and the database is the SQL Server 2005 database hosting in my server. I'm using Visual Studio Project Designer to enable and configure client application services. using https://localhost/WcfServidorFundacion. When i'm change the authentication services location to https://WcfServices:5659/WcfServidorFundacion and recompile the application, the following error show up. Message: The web service returned the error status code: InternalServerError. Details of service failure: {"Message":" Error while processing your request ","StackTrace":"","ExceptionType":""} Stack Trace: en System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() en System.Web.ClientServices.Providers.ProxyHelper.CreateWebRequestAndGetResponse(String serverUri, CookieContainer& cookies, String username, String connectionString, String connectionStringProvider, String[] paramNames, Object[] paramValues, Type returnType) InnerException: System.Net.WebException Message="Remote Server Error: (500) Interal Server Error." I can access the WCF service from the navigator using the url mentioned above and even make a webReference in my project. I make a capture of the response but I'cant post it because i don't have 10 reputation points I activate the error log in the IIS 7 server, and the result is a Warning in the ManagedPipilineHandler. • UI View Controller crashes after interruption

  Given the multitasking of iOS I thought it wouldn't be a pain to pause and resume my app, by pressing the home button or due to a phone call, but for a particular view controller it crashes. The navigation bar is working fine i.e. when I tap "Back" it's ok, but if I try to tap controls of the displayed UI View Controller then I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS.. =/ Please find the code of my problematic View Controller below.   Hi all, I am solving how to pass values from one page to another without making use of session scope managed bean. For most managed beans I would like to have only Request scope. I created a very, very simple calculator example which passes Result object resulting from actions on request bean (CalculatorRequestBean) from 5th phase as initializing value for new instance of request bean initialized in next phase lifecycle. In fact - in production environment we need to pass much more complicated data object which is not as primitive as Result defined below. What is your opinion on this solution which considers both possibilities - we stay on the same view or we navigate to the new one. But in both cases I can get to previous value stored passed using view scoped managed bean. • Copied Netbeans IDE Maven Web project failes to compile

  If I am going to make serious changes to my project I like to make a copy (right click project and select copy). I have created copies of my projects many times (maven web applications included) without issue. Now all I do is copy the project making no changes, leaving the copy settings on default (project name etc) and then try to run it and spring decides to take issue with it. Again I try running the original and it works. I deleted the faulty copy, restarted and tried again and still it does not work.   Five+ years from now, you are hired to support and extend a data-centric web application written in Python that hasn't been kept up to date. Would you rather prefer it was written in the current version of Django/Pylons at the time, using the available standard components, or kept minimal with something like CherryPy/web.py and a few library dependencies? Heavy framework Advantages: standard approach to application design and structure, as encouraged by framework; less application code to worry about. Disadvantages: requires learning the framework to understand how things work; broken things in old version of framework difficult to fix; upgrading to new version potentially difficult due to changing APIs; finding relevant documentation/help potentially difficult due to changing APIs. Light framework Advantages: most application code is directly "visible"; only needed features are implemented; architecture should be simpler to understand; less need to upgrade external dependencies; easier to upgrade external dependencies. Disadvantages: some reinventing the wheel; non-standard design and structure (with the associated unique issues and bugs). I will update the list with any helpful answers.

  I am starting a little side project which consists of building a small-medium sized, django-based, website. However, last time I was actually in the business of websites, was a few good years ago. So while still technologically capable, I'm still rusted on the tools/IDE part of websites. I am looking for an IDE which can support the following: Basic HTML editing with syntax completion, highlighting, etc... Basic CSS editing with syntax completion, highlighting, etc... Python support for Django Support for the entire develop-debug-FTP upload cycle If all of this could happen inside my existing eclipse installation, it would be nothing short of perfection. So what's your recommendation on web development IDEs? EDIT: forgot to add that I'm running Win XP on my dev machine. EDIT after answers: thanks all you guys for the helpful advice. I think I'm going to go with Aptana as it fits in to eclipse which I already use. Also I will look into version control instead of simple FTP upload. Apparently I didn't know how much it is used even in web projects.

The Web Browser control is overkill, and does not function well in a service-environment, nor does it function well on a system with very tight security constraints. Is there any sort of free .NET library that will support the printing of a basic HTML page?
