• AJAX Problem - No response text in FireFox, but ok in IE

  Hi, I am making a simple AJAX call to an external site. It works ok in IE, but in Firefox, not response text is returned. I think it might have something to do with the response being "chunked", but I'm not sure. Any ideas? • Problems with viewing site in Internet Exploder

  I built a site and I'm just about finished. It displays properly in all the browsers I have (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) but my client is not computer savvy at all and still uses Internet Explorer, so that's all he's using to view the site. I don't have IE to test the site so I've been using BrowserStack.com and I see in IE that the site is broken. The navigation bar has a white background and is pushed down a line, and the logo isn't appearing. Could anybody please assist me with figuring out why the site isn't displaying properly in IE, and how to fix it? Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Site: WebuildCAhomes dot com

• Mysql configuration errror : using password (NO) instead of YES.

  Hello, I try to connect mysql via PHPMYADMIN, using my password, but it can't stop telling me that (access denied, using password NO) but i'm using a password :O When i connect via the console with my password, it works but not on phpmyadmin. It's really weird. Do you have an idea to fix that ? edit: it worked couple of days ago, because i created 2 databases and 2 users via phpmyadmin... • Browser-Incompatability with image alignment in CSS using YUI grid (Firefox + Opera)

  I'm having trouble with the alignment of two images on the footer of my temporary website (http://www.rotimioyewole.com). I'm new to the YUI grid, which I think may be a factor. It should look roughly like this (works correctly in Chrome and Safari, haven't tested IE yet): (http://cl.ly/44fH) But on FF and Opera look like this: http://cl.ly/44aO If I can have some sort of consistency then the website would at least be presentable. Ideally, I would also like to align both images on the same Y axis, as well as the text next to the icons. I had trouble figuring out how to search for a solution..can anybody help me? I'm developing a website and for the first time i found problems using cufon... if you think u know about cofon check this.. http://universite.jvsoftware.com If you open with firefox and IE, you will notice in the navigation bar, when you over the titles will appear a border (actually is an image) but if you open it with chrome or safari, that image doesnt appear.... the cufon script is easy to find in the source code, also the css. It it working in FF, Chrome/Safari but not in IE 7/8. Is there something I'm missing here? Big Picture: We're using a swf to render custom type and there is a link in the rendered (flash) content. We're hoping to catch the link action in the jQuery listener so we don't have to extend our swf have an optional param to return false on link click. We thought we got around it, until IE testing commenced... Let me know if any more info is needed. Thanks!

• Drawing Image onto Canvas Stretches Image?

  I have this code (stolen from the web): function readIt() { var reader = new FileReader(); reader.onload = (function(e) { var img = new Image(); img.src = e.target.result; var c = document.getElementById("canvas"); var ctx = c.getContext("2d"); ctx.drawImage(img, 0, 0); } ); reader.readAsDataURL(document.getElementById('userImage').files[0]); } Which works up to a point. The canvas's width and height are set to the size of the image, but only the top left of the image appears - It appears to be stretched so it fits all the space allocated to the canvas (enough to display the whole image - 615px x 615px). If I add an <img> element sized the same size as the canvas and point the src to the image in the file system it appears perfect. I'm using Chrome, but it appears the same in Firefox.   Hi. I am wondering if it is possible to create an application that could receive a notification when any other application/window is docked with the new windows 7 docking feature (f.ex. Winkey + left arrow) The purpose of my application would be to set up custom rules for certain windows. So for example if I am using Chrome and I press the Win+LEFT keys, then my application would receive a notification, and would be able to say that the window should not resize to 50% of the screen, but should use 70%. I am not very familiar with writing windows applications (mostly do web), so any pointers at how this might be achieved are very welcome. Thanks.

• Robust Way of Selecting All Text in Textbox

  I'm trying to have the content of the an HTML textbox be selected fully onFocus. I know the simple solution of putting a onfocus="this.select()" on the component but this is not a good solution because if a user double clicks into the area the selection is lost and in browsers like chrome it is rarely working like it should and just reverts into input form. I have searched on Google for a little while and can't find a good solution, most suggestions are of this simple solution. What I would like it is that the selection inside the textbox not change once selected and if possible the user should not be able to edit the content of the textbox, for example if you have used AdSense when you grab code from AdSense the selection never changes and your unable to alter the code in the textbox. Any solutions would be appreciated.

So, navigator.cookieEnabled is always true. This stuff works perfectly in Chrome and FireFox. Am I doing anything wrong?

  I have two radio buttons each with a unique ID. When one is clicked, I would like to add $10 to a total. When the other is clicked, we go back to the original total price. My jquery looks like this: function check_ceu() { var price = <%= conference_price %>; if($('#ceu_yes').is(':checked')){ $('#total').val(parseFloat(price) + 10) } else{ $('#total').val(price) } } I have this function bound to document.ready (for page refreshes) and also the onchange handler of the radio buttons. In FF and Chrome this works fine. In IE, when the radio button with ID of "ceu_yes" is checked nothing happens, then when clicking back to the other radio button, 10 is added. So in essence, IE has the checkbox functionality reversed. Below is my code for the buttons: <input type="radio" name="ceu" id="ceu_yes" value="1" onchange="check_ceu()" /> $10 <input type="radio" name="ceu" id="ceu_no" value="0" checked="checked" onchange="check_ceu()" /> No, thank you Any ideas on this?

• Document width calculated via Javascript is different in Firefox compared to other browsers

  I have a problem with retrieving the current page document width from Mozilla Firefox. While the rest of the browsers report the correct width of the document, Firefox reports a smaller one (example: at screen resolution of 1920x1080 IE, Chrome and Safari reports 1920 while Firefox reports 1903). I use document width in $(document).ready(function() { ... }); to reposition a div element. Funny this is that after using alert() inside this function, the element reposition correctly, though the document size is still smaller than other browsers.

• facebook and twitter buttons doesn't work

  I am building a website in dreamweaver cs5. for some reason, the facebook like button and twitter share as well as follow button doesn't work. facebook like button shows nothing. (in the area, chrome says page cannot be found), twitter buttons show the hyperlink tweet and it tweets but the icon doesn't show up. The code for both are generated from facebook and twitter itself. I haven't hosted the site yet. I and coding and previewing it. Is that the reason for them not to work? I also tried addthis.com widget. It didn't show up as it should have. Please help! • CSV file download ignored in ie8/9

  I have some code in a button click event which gets a csv string from a hidden input and writes it to the response as a CSV file. This work fine in Chrome, Firefox, ie7, ie9 in quirks mode. However it does not work in ie8 or ie9 default. Looking at this in fiddler the csv is being written to the response but the another get request is being made immediately after and the page reloads. • Why does Microsoft's IE even exists?

  For real what is the point? Why can't it display pages properly like Chrome, safari or Firefox? If you want to make a web application (modern 2.0 site) that supports IE you will end up almost doubling your coding time as IE has its own interpretation of things. PLUS they just keep on changing how it renders pages from version to version (5,6,7,8) unbelievable. Microsoft hates web designers. i used to handle rendering problems with extra JS scripts and CSS files but i had enoughs of this $hit all over my pages: <!--[if IE]> .... <!--[if IE 8]> .... <!--[if IE 7]> .... <!--[if IE 6]> .... No more IE support for any of my projects, So you guys think im exaggerating or IE is really a pain in the @@$?

  Using jQuery and the Cycle plugin. Runs flawless in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and the latest version of Opera. Won't run in older versions of Opera, and of course, IE. I know its running Java, because its picking up the rollovers. This is driving me batty. Hopefully its something simple.
