Here's what I've been able to do so far: I've created a custom plugin that adds one piece of node data called "my_custom_data" it works when I load it manually in IRB I've used the Ohai cookbook to get it loaded on the servers that need it However, Ohai doesn't load it, neither during Chef runs nor if I run Ohai manually.     I'm using Mp3Tag do edit Id3 tags in my mp3 files. In the editor everything looks ok, but in my iTunes, some of them just ge messed up. The artist isn't read, Album Artist doesn't show up, this kind of thing. It's just random, some are messed up, some aren't. How do I "debug" this problem? How can I check what is written in my mp3 metadata, if possible, running all my mp3 in a batch (since I have 100gb)? How do I know if there are "garbage" in the metadata section along with information I correctly edited?

  • How to host customer developed code server side

    I'm developing a multi-tenant web application, most likely using ASP.NET MVC5 and Web API. I have used business applications in the past where it was possible to upload custom DLL's or paste in custom code to a GUI to have custom functions run server side. These applications were self hosted and single-tenant though so the customer developed bits didn't impact other clients. I want to host the multi-tenant web application myself and allow customers to upload custom code that will run server side. This could be for things like custom web services that client side JavaScript could interact with, or it could be for automation steps that they want triggered server side asynchronously when a user takes a particular action. Additionally, I want to expose an API that allows customers' code to interact with data specific to the web application itself. Client code may need to be "wrapped" so that it has access to appropriate references - to our custom API and maybe to a white list of approved libraries. There are several issues to consider - security, performance (infinite loops, otherwise poorly written code, load balancing, etc.), receive compiled DLL's or require raw code, etc. Is there an established pattern for this sort of thing or a sample project anyone can point to? Or any general recommendations?

Here are the steps you need to do to update or create a new file in MDS 1) Browse to AIA_HOME/AIAMetaData 2) Place your file(it may be new file or modified existing file) at the desired location. The same hierarchy will appear in MDS starting from AIAMetaData. 3) Edit UpdateMetaDataDeploymentPlan.xml in aia_instances/AIA_INSTANCE_NAME/config. 4) In the tag, mention the files which you have modified or added new. You can add a file or directory as required. 5) Browse to AIA_HOME/Infrastructure/Install/scripts 6) Run ant -f UpdateMetaData.xml Here is the same UpdateMetaData Deployment Plan.   • sudo port install arm-elf-gcc3 fails with "No defined site for tag: gcc…"

    Am trying to get the ARM plugin for Eclipse (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnuarmeclipse/) going on iMac i7, OS 10.6.3, Xcode 3.2.2 (don't want to upgrade during my project). The plugin needs (IIRC) arm-elf-gcc3, which needs darwinports for "easy" install. Using the javascript replace function, I want all instances of "AD" in the beginning of a conversation (ie, all instances of "AD" at the starting of a line followed by a ":") to be surrounded by <strong> tags, but only if the instance isn't already surrounded by a <strong> tag. What regex should I use to accomplish this? Am I trying to do what this advises against?   • How do I get flashvars in Firefox using object embed tag only to work?

    I am trying to generate an <object> tag only embed code and cannot get Firefox to pass Flash along the FlashVars values. This seems to work everyplace else that I've tried it but fails in Firefox.   • CSS - Why is this invisible margin being applied to my <a> tag css-button?

    I was having trouble with two types of buttons. It was a form button and a css button basically. And I was advised that the css button whould use display:inline-block; This made the whole a href tag actually look like a button. But this invisible margin seems to be screwing up something. I tried separating them into separate css classes, but oddly, applying a real margin to the css button gives an additional margin as well. What's causing this?     I am trying to strip everything between a key phrase and ending tag but for some reason it is not working. I always get blank data. I've tried many different ways but no luck. Basically I have a script that connect to IMAP and store emails into MySQL as service tickets. It works great but I am trying to strip off everything except for user reply because currently if a user reply to an email it re-inserts the entire email into MySQL. I added a key phrase at the top of all outgoing emails . When replying to the message, it becomes: New Message reply...... --Reply below this line to respond-- old message body. I would only like to insert the new reply message only. If I remove $message=preg_replace('#--REPLY above this line to respond--(.*?)</section>)#s', ' ', $message); it inserts the entire email. Any suggestion on what i am doing wrong?

  • How to load src in html5 Video tag from JavaScript?

    Here is the thing, I'm working with ASP.NET and I'm using this particular SignalR library to broadcast a video to my clients, but as far as I know I can not stream video because signalR is a messaging system and it is not intended to stream video, files or things like that. Now what I am trying to do is to split the video into buffers that is Base64-encoded into a string, then on the client I am decoding this string and I am trying to load it into the source of a Video tag. Here I show you what I am doing on the client: HTML Code: <video id="myVideo"> <source id="video_source"> </video> Javascript Code: //here somehow I am getting the string with the base64-encoded video function playVideo(message) { var myVideo = document.getElementById("myVideo"); var mySource = document.getElementById("video_source"); mySource.setAttribute("src", getEncodedVideoString("avi", message)); myVideo.load(); myVideo.play(); }; // here I am formatting and concatenating the string for my source attribute function getEncodedVideoString(type, file) { return 'data:video/' + type + ';base64,' + $.base64.decode(file); } Well as you can see, at the moment I'm facing a scenario a little weird, but I already have the video encoded on the client, now I just need to find out the way to reproduce that video. And here is when my question comes up, does any one has done something like this before, or you have any idea or suggestion to do that? P.S I am using this jquery-base64 library to decode my string

  • Doing a DELETE request from <a> tag without constructing forms?

    Is there any way to force an <a href> to do a delete request when clicked instead of a regular GET? The "Rails" way is to dynamically generate a <form> tag that adds the appropriate params so that it gets routed to the right place, however I'm not too fond of that much DOM manipulation for such a simple task. I thought about going the route of something like: $("a.delete").click(function(){ var do_refresh = false; $.ajax({ type: "DELETE", url: "my/path/to/delete", success: function(){ do_refresh = true; }, failure: function(){ alert("There is an error"); } }); return do_return; //If this is false, no refresh would happen. If it //is true, it will do a page refresh. }); I'm not sure if the above AJAX stuff will work, as it's just theoretical. Is there any way to go about this? Note: Please don't recommend that I use the rails :method => :delete on link_to, as I'm trying to get away from using the rails helpers in many senses as they pollute your DOM with obtrusive javascript. I'd like this solution to be put in an external JS file and be included as needed.
