  Examples of the translations I need to do: $stringDate = "November 2009"; $output = "11/09"; $stringDate = "October 1 2010"; $output = "10/01/2010"; $stringDate = "January 2010"; $output = "01/10"; $stringDate = "January 9 2010"; $output = "01/09/2010"; Note that I do not know which format the $stringDate will be in and the lack of commas in the month day year set. • CSS float problems, works in IE, doesn't work in Chrome/FF.. I'm probably doing something wrong

  I'm not terribly well-versed in CSS.. and don't know all of the major quirks yet. Maybe someone can help me. I've set up an image showing my code, a diagram of my DIVs, and examples of how it looks in IE versus Chrome/FF Can someone direct me to the proper way to go about this? It works fine in IE, but in Chrome and FF, one of the images is escaping its container, and the "content block" as I call it is going underneath the image it's supposed to be next to. Each of the components has a css class despite my diagram saying there's no css.. currently there's just some basic styling for those (padding, text-indent, etc). Thank you

First, I declare some object like CString* param = new CString[100] And when I declare this one, my memory would increase a little bit because it's some implemented string. Then I store this object in some list of CString just like List<CString> myList = new List<CString>; // new list of CString myList.add(param); This is my question: I wanna know, when I delete myList, my param isn't deleted, right? And memory in param still exists. Do I misunderstand?

Output: Let be friends or maybe more Output: , but nothing less stop: no more bytes to send. the problem i have searched google, but didn't understand the examples, i spent 4 days trying find a good way, also that sendt 5 bytes at time, but in case there is less, then send them until you are at the end of the string. please help me out guys, i will accept a C or C++ way, as long it works and well explained.

• How to make a staging table in ms sql 2005?

  Hi I heard about doing staging tables and I am wondering how you actually do it. I want to do a sqlbulk copy into a staging table. Then then update the real table. I heard in mssql 2008 that you can use something called merge but I am using ms sql 2005 so I heard I have to use a update inner join? I am not sure how that would look like(I am guessing best way would be to write it in SP). Also the staging table needs to be able to handle concurrent updates. I was thinking of putting another column in the staged as GUID so that way I know which records belong to which group and when it is time to delete the records from the staged table I can just use that. So can anyone show me any examples or tutorials on how to do it? Also how fast is this way? Say if your updating 50,000 records how long would that take(a guesstimate is fine)

  I am trying to display the last 10 lines of a File and from there take those results and break them down to 10 individual lines.. Currently the code I have found from examples is: $filearray = file("test.txt"); $lastfifteenlines = array_slice($filearray,-10); echo implode($lastfifteenlines, "\n") It display's the 10 items I need however it does not break them down onto individual lines the current results are: 1.0.0.11 1.0.0.12 1.0.0.13 1.0.0.14 1.0.0.15 I need that to instead display as: 1.0.0.11 1.0.0.12 1.0.0.13 1.0.0.14 1.0.0.15 Thanks in Advance for the Asistance!

• How to apply dynamically scale down and up into a thumbnail images size?

  I'm working on one current project, I don't have any issues to load a SWF into a main SWF but I can't figure out how to apply dynamically the scale down and up into a thumbnail images size while using the Resize event handler. I load SWF into a Loader object then add it into a container = currentMC. I want to size it and keep all the pieces inside this container. Therefore no matter browser size, I just want to be able to apply scale on it to fit it. Does anyone know how to do that? Any code examples would help me a lot. I'm using Flash.

While reading up on JavaScript I found it curious that most of the examples I've been drawing on use PHP for such an operation. I know many of you may argue that 'I'm doing it wrong' or 'JavaScript is a client-side language' etc. but the question stands. . .can you write a file in only JavaScript? • What information about a user is available via PHP?

  This is about a classifieds website, where anyone may post classifieds. I have a security database which I intend to fill with information about the user who posts the classifieds. I intend to record information such as IP, name, tel, email, classified_text, classified_title etc etc. The reason for all this is that sometimes people become victims of fraud (fake classifieds etc). So I wonder, what information is possible to get from the poster which may help in tracking him/her down? IP is a given, but what else could be useful? And I would much like examples of how it would be useful also, as well as the code for it please, like $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']. And btw, I use PHP and have Sql as a database. Thanks

• Android: Scrollable (bitmap) screen

  I am currently implementing a view in Android that involves using a larger than the screen size bitmap as a background and then having drawables drawn ontop of this. This is so as to simulate a "map" that can be scrolled horizontally aswell as vertically. Which is done by using a canvas and then drawing to this the full "map" bitmap, then putting the other images on top as an overlay and then drawing only the viewable bit of this to screen. Overriding the touch events to redraw the screen on a scroll/fling. I'm sure this probably has a huge ammount of overhead (by creating a canvas of the full image whilst using(drawing) only a fifth of it) and could be done in a different way as to the explained, but I was just wondering what people would do in this situation, and perhaps examples?   Alright I'm currently lost on a particular assignment I have for a class. I've seen many examples of this app but none of them see to help my problem is as follows: Write a Sub procedure "DisplaySquare" to display the solid square. The size should be specified by the integer parameter "size". The character that fills the square should be specified by the string parameter "fillCharacter. Use a For...Next statement nested within another For...Next statement to create the square. The outer For...Next specifies what row is currently being displayed. The inner For...Next appends all the characters that form the row to a display string. So it should come out like as follows: if a user enters "8" and "#" ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## Any help would be appreciated.

• Why in C++ do we use DWORD rather than unsigned int?

  I'm not afraid to admit that I'm somewhat of a C++ newbie, so this might seem like a silly question but.... I see DWORD used all over the place in code examples. When I look up what a DWORD truly means, its apparently just an unsigned int (0 to 4,294,967,295). So my question then is, why do we have DWORD? What does it give us that the integral type 'unsigned int' does not? Does it have something to do with portability and machine differences?

  Hi all, Im my current project we need to interface with sharepoint to store and retrieve various documents. This has previously been done by referencing the Microsoft.Sharepoint dlls directly and going from there. As I don't know a lot about sharepoint yet I have been doing some research. Most of the examples I find actually refer to using the Sharepoint web services themselves (the various vti_bin ones shown in http://www.sharepointmonitor.com/2007/01/sharepoint-web-service/). I cant seem to find the differences in approaches. This current project was written a few years ago so maybe the web services weren't available then? Cheers

  I am trying to create a custom table cell that conveys these data fields. a.) Name b.) Address1 c.) Address2 d.) Phone In the table cell these fields should appear centered one after another. Another requirement is that each of those fields be a different font and color. For that reason, I was thinking of creating labels and attaching them to the cell but I haven't had much luck getting this working. My question is, can this be done? • Writing different structs to a file in C++? [on hold]

  I need a way to write structures of three different kinds to a binary file, which later has to be searched. (As in, for example, struct A has two fields, an int and a char; struct B has int and a long; I need to output all structures whose int equals the one given from keyboard). I understand how to write structs of the same kind to a file and how to search them, but here I am just lost, best thing I came up with is declaring a struct containing all possibly needed fields and leaving the ones I don't need empty, but it really feels wrong, there HAS to be a better way to do that. I've read about binary files and could not find anything relevant, most examples and tutorials deal with writing one data type. Could anyone point me in the right direction? EDIT: I am looking for what @Jerry_coffin called database mode, and will probably use one of the existing database systems for that, best way to go, probably. Thank you everybody for the suggestions

  I'm trying to port an application from using HAL to using pure udev. It is written in python and will use the gudev library, though I would love to see examples in any language. I'm able to get all attached video devices (such as cameras) via: import gudev client = gudev.Client(["video4linux"]) for device in client.get_devices(): print device.get_sysfs_attr("name"), device.get_device_name() This prints out something like: USB2.0 UVC WebCam /dev/video0 I am also able to get a list of block devices, but how can I: Tell if it is a CD/DVD drive? Tell if media is currently inserted if the drive supports removable media? Tell what the name/label of the media is (e.g. FUTURAMAS1 for a DVD)? I am not an ASP guy, but rather C++ So what I want to do is delare a string, check the first 4 characters and if it is 'http' do something, if not, something else.   Hi, I'm relatively new to Watir but can find no good documentation (examples) regarding how to check if an element exists. There are the API specs, of course, but these make precious little sense to me if I don't find an example. I've tried both combinations but nothing seems to work... if browser.image (:src "/media/images/icons/reviewertools/editreview.jpg").exists then... if browser.image (:src "/media/images/icons/reviewertools/editreview.jpg").exists? then... • TinyMce plugin, how to copy 'Link' functionality.

  I'm creating a new plugin for TinyMce. However I cannot find any examples to see some of the functionality I've seen in other plugins. I've read their source code but I cannot find where it is done: When you click on an 'A' element, the link/unlink buttons in the taskbar become enabled. When you right click on an 'A' element, then click on the "Insert/edit link" icon that is shown in the popup menu, the "Insert/edit link" window is setup (has all the attributes for that particular link) prefilled. Could you suggest somewhere where I could learn how to do this? A file and line number is fine. Thanks in advance.

  I am wondering how to grab the selected item's text value on jquery autocomplete. • Read external HTML page and then find data within

  I'm playing around with an idea, and I'm stuck at this one part. I want to read an external HTML page and then extract the data held within two <dd> tags. I've been using file_get_contents with good results, but I'm at a loss as to how to accomplish that last part. The two tags I want to extract the value from are always enclosed within a particular <div>, was wondering if that might help? In my mind it reads the entire html file into a string, then dumps all the data up until this one particular <div>, and dumps all the data after the closing </div>. Is that possible? I think this needs regex syntax which I've never used yet. So any tips, links, or examples would be great! I can provide more info as necessary.
