  • Problems during an update of cPanel / WHM

    I ordered a Master WHM account with the couple CentOS / cPanel. whm-cpanel.eu.pn The installation is a fresh update of the basic services was necessary (had: WHM 11.15.0 cPanel 11.17.0 WHM X v3.1.0, Apache 1.3.37, PHP 4.4.7, MySQL 4.1.22). 1 / I started to update cPanel / WHM via the command: / scripts / upcp. Everything went well until the middle of installing the server stopped responding (or ping, or ssh). The installation appears to have continued alone to the end and after some time everything is back to normal (I do not know if there was a reboot) and my interface was updated (cPanel 11.24.4-R36167 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9). 2 / Then I updated via the MySQL interface tweak this in WHM then the command: / scripts / mysqlup. Here everything went fine, no problem. 3 / Finally, I wanted to upgrade Apache 2.2 / PHP 5 and I used this command: / scripts / easyapache. After selecting all the packages and modules installation is started but the same as for point 1: the server did not answer more and this time the installation did not go through. Apache 2.2 is well spent (after the second try) but PHP has remained at 4. I tried several times the same operation without success. I do not think this is a memory problem, a free-m shortly before losing communications gave nothing alarming. By cons CPU time seemed to rise up. I reinstalled the machine again the trick, same problem! Whether via the WHM interface or by Shell, the installation stops short, for 15 minutes the machine is not responding and then everything returns to normal, but no update is done in PHP. Is there a known bug in this version of cPanel / WHM? Someone he met the same problem? If I compile Apache / PHP manually, without using the script easyapache is what I might encounter problems with cPanel later? Thank you!

    After upgrading a computer from Centos3 to Centos5 an application that does a lot of scrolling took a very high performance hit. top tells me that X is using a lot of CPU and that was not happening before. The machine has an ATI Rage XL with 8MB and X is using the ati driver as there is no proprietary ATI driver for this board on linux.   • Nginx + uWSGI on a fresh Ubuntu install - bind error port 80

    I know this is a common problem usually having to do with apache or another service already running on port 80 and I have done a lot of searching and running netstat and still have not figured out why I am getting this error. I rebuilt my slice, did a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 and setup nginx + uwsgi. It worked and I was able to see my Django site. I then installed Postgres8.4 and the rest of the stack needed for Geodjango from this link.     I'm an advanced level user here with an odd issue. I have two Windows Updates that are failing to install, every single time. I'm getting a mysterious "Code 1" error on both updates, an error for which I'm having difficulty finding a solution. The updates in question are: Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538243) System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [May 2011] Because these updates are failing, the Shut Down button in my start menu always has the shield icon next to it, indicating that "new" updates will be installed on shut down. But, of course, they'll fail and when the PC is restarted, the shield icon is still there.   • On Windows how can I prevent login until a software package has been installed?

    I have an MSI which is configured for machine level installation because it is a device driver. I can deploy it via Active Directory and Group Policy just fine. However on a newly booted machine a user can login before the installation has a chance to complete and I get an warning in the event log saying it couldn't complete and will be tried at next reboot. How can I make the login screen wait for the installation to be completed?

    I have a vps with 256m physical ram and 512m swap space, I am trying to use a software that need more than 256m and less than 512m ram, so it uses swap. The problem is at some moment of the installation, the installation process checks the available physical ram, it's full (some swap is used), so it pauses the installation and tills that it must be some more ram to continue the installation.. I see that I need to move some of used physical ram to swap while the process is running.. Is there anyway I can do that? or any other solution! For sorry I am using openvz vps, and the vm.swappiness option can't be modified as a solution.

    Hi ! There has been a power loss on our server and i cannot start the SQL service because the master DB is corrupted (as the log states). I found many articles recommending running the setup.exe with optional parameters: This is what I did: I've downloaded SQLEXPR32.EXE from MS page and ran it The first problem was, that it extracted all the setup files and started the default installation procedure. (which was unuseful for me as I need those params). If I canceled it, all the extracted files disappeared. That's why I decided to copy the extracted files somewhere and than cancel the default installation. Now I'm trying to run the setup.exe from the extraction: setup.exe /qb INSTANCENAME=MSSQLSERVER REINSTALL=SQL_Engine REBUILDDATABASE=1 SAPWD=xxxxx it asks me if I want to rewrite the system db, which is what I need, but then while installing I get this error: *An installation package for the product Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'SqlRun_SQL.msi'* Then it tries to install something and it states: cannot install because the same instance name already exists. But I don't want to install a new instance .. Any idea how to solve this, please? Thank you in advance !

  • Windows XP boot: black screen with cursor after BIOS screen

    Here is a weird one, Got computer with Windows XP. It's getting stuck on a black screen with cursor blinking. What did I do: - Boot from installation CD (recovery option - command line): chkdsk C: /R copy D:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\ copy D:\i386\ntldr c:\ fixmbr fixboot Chkdsk showed 0 bad sectors and no problems during scan. dir on C:\ shows all directories and files in place (Windows, Program Files, Documents and Settings). BIOS shows correct boot drive. Still does not boot. Not sure what to think of. Please help. UPDATE: Just performed these steps: Backed up current disk C: (without MBR) using True Image to external hard drive Ran Windows XP clean installation with deleting all partitions and creating new one. Hard drive booted fine into Windows GUI installation!!! Then: Interrupted installation. Booted from True Image recovery CD and restored archive of disk C to an new partition. Same issue with black screen.

    I was having windows 7 installed on my laptop, yesterday I tried to install Open Suse operating system. During its installation I chose a NTFS partition and formatted it to ext4 filesystem. During installation an error came that mount point cannot be created on this partition and I aborted the installation. They on reboot a message came BootMgr is missing. I then reinstalled the windows but on complete installation when setup rebooted the system then a blank screen came with a cursor blinking. I went through many forums and learnt may startup repairs and commands but it continues to hang up at a blank screen with cursor blinking. Reinstalling new windows 7 is also not doing any effect. I urgently need to repair my laptop for very important work. Please Help

    I have a computer running Windows XP Pro 32-bit and 64-bit in dual boot. I need to retain Windows XP 32-bit Pro, as I have expensive software that will only run on that specific version. I want to upgrade my 64-bit installation of XP to Windows 8 without losing the 32-bit installation. If I simply use the ISO to upgrade from within my XP 64-bit installation, will I retain dual boot for both XP 32-bit and Windows 8?

So my question is, is it possible for me to update my modules on a VPS and if so how would I do this, or is this something I'll need to try get my host to do? Thanks in advance.
