  • Create cross platform Java SWT Application

    I have written a Java GUI using SWT. I package the application using an ANT script (fragment below). <jar destfile="./build/jars/swtgui.jar" filesetmanifest="mergewithoutmain"> <manifest> <attribute name="Main-Class" value="org.swtgui.MainGui" /> <attribute name="Class-Path" value="." /> </manifest> <fileset dir="./build/classes" includes="**/*.class" /> <zipfileset excludes="META-INF/*.SF" src="lib/org.eclipse.swt.win32.win32.x86_3.5.2.v3557f.jar" /> </jar> This produces a single jar which on Windows I can just double click to run my GUI. The downside is that I have had to explicitly package the windows SWT package into my jar. I would like to be able to run my application on other platforms (primarily Linux and OS X). The simplest way to do it would be to create platform specific jars which packaged the appropriate SWT files into separate JARs. Is there a better way to do this? Is it possible to create a single JAR which would run on multiple platforms?

  • What files does JDIC need to run?

    I'm trying to call JDIC from my application, but I can't get it to run. What files do I need and where? From what I've been able to gather from their site, I basically need to put jdic.jar in classpath... however there is also a lib folder with jdic.jar with a bit different size, and jdic_native_applet.jar, jdic_stub_unix.jar, jdic_stub_windows.jar and several folders with what I gather are platform specific files. I get this exception when instantiating AssociationService: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.jdesktop.jdic.filetypes.internal.AppAssociationReaderFactory_windows at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:188) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:307) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:252) at org.jdesktop.jdic.filetypes.AssociationService.<init>(Unknown Source) at QuickTest.main(QuickTest.java:101) I've tried last "official" release and last alpha release. I'm running Java 6 and Win7 64bit. Does JDIC even work under Win7 (or 64bit, although I use 32bit Java)? I see no release after 2006, and no activity in the project after about 2008... while Win7 came in 2009. I know that parts of JDIC, like Desktop, were included in Java 6, however that doesn't seem to be the case with file associations. And if it doesn't, are there any (hopefully cross-platform) alternatives for managing file associations? There are some things for Windows only that I tried, but that requires running native commands with administrator privileges which I don't know how to pull, apart from asking user to run my app as administrator and then use Runtime.exec()... If there are no alternatives to JDIC, I'm interested if anyone has managed to handle file associations well with cross-platform installers?

  • Maven 3 plugin - How to programatically exclude a dependency and all its transitive dependencies?

    I'm developing a Maven 3 plugin and I want to exclude some dependencies, and their transitive dependencies, when a configuration is set to true in the plugin. I don't want to use <exclusions> in the POM itself, even in a profile. I want to exclude those dependencies programatically. In fact, what I want is to prevent the dependency jars to be included in the final war (I'm building a war), when a plugin configuration is set to true. I tried : @Mojo(requiresDependencyResolution=ResolutionScope.COMPILE, name="compileHook",defaultPhase=LifecyclePhase.COMPILE) public class compileHook extends AbstractMojo { @Override public void execute() throws MojoExecutionException, MojoFailureException { // ... But this doesn't remove the transitive artifacts those dependencies add! What is the best way to programatically remove some dependencies, and their transitive dependencies, from being included in a final .jar/.war?

    My application data access layer is built using Spring and EclipseLink and I am currently trying to implement the following feature - Ability to switch the current/active persistence unit dynamically for a user. I tried various options and finally ended up doing the following. In the persistence.xml, declare multiple PUs. Create a class with as many EntityManagerFactory attributes as there are PUs defined. This will act as a factory and return the appropriate EntityManager based on my logic public class MyEntityManagerFactory { @PersistenceUnit(unitName="PU_1") private EntityManagerFactory emf1; @PersistenceUnit(unitName="PU_2") private EntityManagerFactory emf2; public EntityManager getEntityManager(int releaseId) { // Logic goes here to return the appropriate entityManeger } } My spring-beans xml looks like this.. <!-- First persistence unit --> <bean class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean" id="emFactory1"> <property name="persistenceUnitName" value="PU_1" /> </bean> <bean class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.JpaTransactionManager" id="transactionManager1"> <property name="entityManagerFactory" ref="emFactory1"/> </bean> <tx:annotation-driven transaction-manager="transactionManager1"/> The above section is repeated for the second PU (with names like emFactory2, transactionManager2 etc).   • Square Brackets in Python Regular Expressions (re.sub)

    I'm migrating wiki pages from the FlexWiki engine to the FOSwiki engine using Python regular expressions to handle the differences between the two engines' markup languages. The FlexWiki markup and the FOSwiki markup, for reference. Most of the conversion works very well, except when I try to convert the renamed links. Both wikis support renamed links in their markup. For example, Flexwiki uses: "Link To Wikipedia":[http://www.wikipedia.org/] FOSwiki uses: [[http://www.wikipedia.org/][Link To Wikipedia]] both of which produce something that looks like I'm using the regular expression renameLink = re.compile ("\"(?P<linkName>[^\"]+)\":\[(?P<linkTarget>[^\[\]]+)\]") to parse out the link elements from the FlexWiki markup, which after running through something like "Link Name":[LinkTarget] is reliably producing groups <linkName> = Link Name <linkTarget = LinkTarget My issue occurs when I try to use re.sub to insert the parsed content into the FOSwiki markup. My experience with regular expressions isn't anything to write home about, but I'm under the impression that, given the groups <linkName> = Link Name <linkTarget = LinkTarget a line like line = renameLink.sub ( "[[\g<linkTarget>][\g<linkName>]]" , line ) should produce [[LinkTarget][Link Name]] However, in the output to the text files I'm getting [[LinkTarget [[Link Name]] which breaks the renamed links. After a little bit of fiddling I managed a workaround, where line = renameLink.sub ( "[[\g<linkTarget>][ [\g<linkName>]]" , line ) produces [[LinkTarget][ [[Link Name]] which, when displayed in FOSwiki looks like <[[Link Name> <--- Which WORKS, but isn't very pretty. I've also tried line = renameLink.sub ( "[[\g<linkTarget>]" + "[\g<linkName>]]" , line ) which is producing [[linkTarget [[linkName]] There are probably thousands of instances of these renamed links in the pages I'm trying to convert, so fixing it by hand isn't any good. For the record I've run the script under Python 2.5.4 and Python 2.7.3, and gotten the same results. Am I missing something really obvious with the syntax? Or is there an easy workaround?

  • Using custom detectors with FindBugs Maven plugin

    I have a nice JAR of some custom FindBugs detectors I'd like to use with the FindBugs Maven plugin. There is a way to do this with the plugin via the <pluginList> configuration parameter, but that only accepts local files, URLs, or resources. The only way I found for doing so is to somehow copy my JAR to a local file (maybe via the Dependency plugin) and then configure the FindBugs plugin something like this: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>findbugs-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.3.1</version> <configuration> <pluginList>${project.build.directory}/my-detectors.jar</pluginList> </configuration> </plugin> But this is not very flexible. Is there a way to use Maven's dependency management features together with FindBugs' plugins? I'd like to use something like this: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>findbugs-maven-plugin</artifactId> <dependencies> <dependency> <groupId>com.lptr.findbugs</groupId> <artifactId>my-detectors</artifactId> <version>1.0</version> </dependency> </dependencies> </plugin> ...but this simply overrides the core FindBugs detectors.

  • Curls and file_get_contents times out when loading a page

    I'm having problems with an MBean that takes a Map<String, Object> as a parameter. If I try to execute it via JMX using a proxy object, I get an Exception: Caused by: javax.management.ReflectionException at org.jboss.mx.server.AbstractMBeanInvoker.invoke(AbstractMBeanInvoker.java:231) at org.jboss.mx.server.MBeanServerImpl.invoke(MBeanServerImpl.java:668) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:597) Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unable to find operation updateProperties(java.util.HashMap) It appears that it attempts to use the actual implementation class rather than the interface, and doesn't check if this is a child of the required interface. The same thing happens for extended classes (for example declare HashMap, pass in LinkedHashMap). Does this mean it's impossible to use an interface for such methods? At the moment I'm getting around it by changing the method signature to accept a HashMap, but it seems odd that I wouldn't be able to use interfaces (or extended classes) in my MBeans. Edit: The proxy object is being created by an in-house utility class called JmxInvocationHandler.   • Black Magic in Grails Data Binding!?

I understand now that for one-to-many associations the map that is required for the data binding must have a list of ids of the many side such as: [propName: propValue, manyAssoc: [1, 2]] However, I'm getting this exception Executing action [save] of controller [com.example.DomainName] caused exception: org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateSystemException: IllegalArgumentException occurred calling getter of com.example.DomainName.id; nested exception is org.hibernate.PropertyAccessException: IllegalArgumentException occurred calling getter of com.example.DomainName.id However, even weirder is the update action that is generated for the controller. There we have the databinding like this: domainObjectInstance.properties = params['domainObject'] But, and this is the really weird thing, params['domainObject'] is null! It is null because all the domainObject fields are passed directly in the params map itself. If I change the above line to domainObjectInstance.properties = null the domainObject is still updated! Why is this happening and more important, how can I bind my incoming XML automatically if it comes in this format (the problem is the one-to-many associations): <product> <name>Table</name> <brand id="1" /> <categories> <category id="1" /> <category id="2" /> </categories> </product>

    I can't get my messages in messages.properties to be used during Spring validation of my form backing objects. app-config.xml: <bean id="messageSource" class="org.springframework.context.support.ResourceBundleMessageSource"> <property name="basename" value="messages" /> </bean> WEB-INF/classes/messages.properties: NotEmpty=This field should not be empty. Form Backing Object: ... @NotEmpty @Size(min=6, max=25) private String password; ... When I loop through all errors in the BindingResult and output the ObjectError's toString I get this: Field error in object 'settingsForm' on field 'password': rejected value []; codes [NotEmpty.settingsForm.password,NotEmpty.password,NotEmpty.java.lang.String,NotEmpty]; arguments [org.springframework.context.support.DefaultMessageSourceResolvable: codes [settingsForm.password,password]; arguments []; default message [password]]; default message [may not be empty] As you can see the default message is "may not be empty" instead of my message "This field should not be empty". I do get my correct message if I inject the messageSource into a controller and output this: messageSource.getMessage("NotEmpty", new Object [] {"password"}, "default empty message", null); So why isn't the validation using my messages.properties? I'm running Spring 3.1.1. Thanks!

  • CSS3 Border Radius property doesn't work in localhost?

    I'm having a very strange problem with css3 border radius property. My following CSS and html works fine with IE9 if i double click the file and open with the IE9 , however if the border property does not work in IE if i open the file through LOCALHOST (xampp insatlled on windows 7). The same file works fine on localhost with other browsers.   • Grails one-to-many mapping with joinTable

    I have two domain-classes. One is a "Partner" the other is a "Customer". A customer can be a part of a Partner and a Partner can have 1 or more Customers: class Customer { Integer id String name static hasOne = [partner:Partner] static mapping = { partner joinTable:[name:'PartnerMap',column:'partner_id',key:'customer_id'] } } class Partner { Integer id static hasMany = [customers:Customer] static mapping = { customers joinTable:[name:'PartnerMap',column:'customer_id',key:'partner_id'] } } However, whenever I try to see if a customer is a part of a partner, like this: def customers = Customer.list() customers.each { if (it.partner) { println "Partner!" } } I get the following error: org.springframework.dao.InvalidDataAccessResourceUsageException: could not execute query; SQL [select this_.customer_id as customer1_162_0_, this_.company as company162_0_, this_.display_name as display3_162_0_, this_.parent_customer_id as parent4_162_0_, this_.partner_id as partner5_162_0_, this_.server_id as server6_162_0_, this_.status as status162_0_, this_.vertical_market as vertical8_162_0_ from Customer this_]; nested exception is org.hibernate.exception.SQLGrammarException: could not execute query It looks as if Grails is thinking partner_id is a part of the Customer query, and it's not... It is in the PartnerMap table, which is supposed to find the customer_id, then get the Partner from the corresponding partner_id. Anyone have any clue what I'm doing wrong? Edit: I forgot to mention I'm doing this with legacy database tables. So I have a Partner, Customer and PartnerMap table. PartnerMap has simply a customer_id and partner_id field.

    I'm attempting to get to grips with displaying filterable MySQL data within a PHP page based on user checkbox selections. I have a database of domain names and the dates on which these will require renewal as per Nominet DAC information and I can get unfiltered data to display, but filtering results by domain extensions is proving tricky for me to accomplish. I should point out at this stage that I am a serious newcomer to many of the ideas I am trying to learn to work with here, so please be gentle. I have tried following some other articles on here also, but no dice. I can't test on FF/3.5.8 anymore, could someone please report the result from this browser on any plattform? I'm now thinking this is a Firefox 3.5.8 issue, plattform independent.

Code is below: doc = Nokogiri::XML.parse(xml) #service_state = doc.css("a:HBeat, a:Status", 'a' => 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/OpenAPI.Entity').map {|node| node.children.text} service_state = doc.xpath("//*[@a:Status]", 'a' => 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/OpenAPI.Entity').map(&:text) Both will return service_state = []. Any thoughts or recommendations?
