  • Make emacs autocomplete Ruby methods

    Is there a way to make emacs pull autocompletions of ruby methods the way Eclipse and NetBeans do? That is if I type File. and press CTRL-space in Eclipse I will get a list of File methods. Same with variables. I have installed autocomplete plugin, ruby-mode, rinari and cedet, but so far it will complete local variable and method names, but will not native ones.

    Is there a way with the JQueryValidation plugin to set the input css class error. This css class is different from the label css error class. Because if I set : errorClass: "field-validation-error" That will apply for label and input. I would like input to have "input-validation-error" css class and label to have "field-validation-error" css class.

    I am using Jquery datepicker plugin and my requirement is I want to allow user to select Month and Year when he click on the Header say 'May 2010'. I want to make the Header say 'May 2010' of datepicker as a link and when he clicks on it, it should display a small div or option to select month and year with Apply and close buttons and when he click on apply the dat picker should change with the selected month and year.     Are there any practical ways to tell what part of the DOM was modified if you know that it will be modified? I am writing a plugin that will be running along with javascript that i did not write. an event will be triggered before DOM is modified, and one event will be triggered after the modification. It is my job to decide what was changed. is this possible, and if so what is the least horrible way to do this?

I know that the portablecontacts gem will retrieve contacts, but does not allow for adding or updating. I was wondering if anyone knew of a gem that will handle this type of interaction. If not what would be the best method to implement a gem that would make it easier to handle the responses.

  • Move jQuery data() when an element is destroyed and re-created

    Can anyone think of a (preferably quick) way to move the data() attached to a DOM element to a new instance of itself? The lightbox plugin I'm using deletes and re-appends and element to the page in order to display it in the lightbox (to aviod the multiple-ids issue that ASP.net has), and obviously the .data() that is attached to the element is lost when this happens.

I am loading docs in modal window iframe using http://fancybox.net/ a jquery plugin It works fine but when in Google Docs Save and Close button is press, it closes the iframe and redirects the current page to Google Docs, So is there any way I can prevent the redirection to Google Docs and just close the modal window? Thank You.

    I'm using Eclipse to write php and naturally I get color coding like all IDEs do. How do I get the same effect in a blog? See this example (scroll down to see the code colors), he has full colors, green, red, blue, pretty acceptable I'd say http://www.tellinya.com/read/2007/06/15/20.html Is there something that's standalone PHP that can achieve this, or do I need a plugin and install a CMS? I'd prefer standalone I guess if possible.

I am looking for a rails plugin/gem that would easily do that, ie : current_user.backup() = backup_file current_user.restore(backup_file) = database import/replace I don't know if my question is very clear, but i would like to backup every user's related object (posts, comments, etc) and to be able to restore them from a backup file.     As the title sais: How can I use the Restful Authentication Plugin with Ruby on Rails. When I want to create a new user, it requires me a (wrong-named, confusing field) login (= username), email address and password. However, I want, like Facebook does, only require the user to enter an email address and password, not a username. People will also login with this email address. Can anyone help me?

    Question: How can you use the JQuery Auto-Completion plugin to suggest a location ("City, State") for an input field? Meaning, someone wants to type in "Chicago, IL" ... so they begin typing "Chi" and it auto-suggestions "Chicago, IL". My biggest hurdles is finding a service that I can query to find out all US city+state names. I essentially want to do what the StackOverflow "Tags" input form works but form "City, State" auto completion.
