  • Lisp-style quotation in HTML

    In Lisp, evaluating '(+ 1 2) produces '(+ 1 2), not 3. It seems that HTML doesn't support Lisp-style quotation so you can't say something like <quote><b>not bold</b</quote in HTML and let it just produce <b>not bold</b instead of not bold. Is there any technical reason or historical reason for that? Thanks.

I figured I could use System.Text.RegularExpressions to remove the comment block, but I can seem to be able to get it to work.     I have set up a machine with Ubuntu Server. Some of the server software I want to run on it has web based user interfaces for setting it up et cetera. I know I could connect to it from a different machine which has a graphical user interface, but in this case I would rather do it on the box. So, from a fresh Ubuntu Server installation, what is the minimum I need to install to be able to launch a web browser I can use for this? For example chromium, firefox or arora.

  • How to emulate Mode 13h in a modern 3D renderer?

    I was indulging in nostalgia and remembered the first game I created, which used Mode 13h. This mode was really simple to work with, since it was essentially just an array of bytes with an element for each pixel on the screen (using an indexed color scheme). So I thought it might be fun to create something nowadays under these restrictions, but on modern hardware. The API could be as simple as: public class Mode13h { public byte[] VideoMemory = new byte[320 * 200]; public Color[] Palette = new Color[256]; } Now I'm wondering what would be the best way to get this data on the screen, using something like XNA / DirectX / OpenGL. The only solution I could think of was to create a texture with the same size as the VideoMemory array, write the contents of VideoMemory to it every frame, then render that texture in a full screen quad with the correct aspect ratio and using point texture filtering for that retro look. Is there a better way?

    Hi! I've done my TreeView all with XAML but now I'd like to manage an event with code-behind. The HierarchicalDataTemplate contains an Image. I need to capture the events MouseEnter / MouseLeave on the Image.     Ive been trying to learn asp.net from reading "beginning asp.net 4 with c#" and been finding it hard to get a solid grasp on the code involved. I plan to go to tafe sometime next year to get my diploma but want to start myself. instead of learning asp.net as a whole and all the languages involved such as c#, html css and javascript etc etc. I'm starting to think a solid understanding of at lest one of these might be beneficial I have "Beginning C# Object-Oriented Programming - Clark - Apress, is it worth learning about the languages before I go head first into a ide?.
