• Creating a draft version of the page before publishing in Drupal 6?

  I've been looking for a good way to handle revisions in Drupal, but I am yet to succeed. For some reason there is no built in way to save a draft (that I've found so far), and the modules I've tried so far do not seem to fully work. First I tried save_as_draft, which seemed to do almost what I wanted, and if I'm not mistaken, also handles CCK fields. Sadly it seems to be broken somehow, so I can't edit a page once I've saved it as a draft.. maybe I could fix it by going through the code, but that would not be my preferred solution. The other module I tried is aptly named draft, but from what I can tell, this module only handles the title and body fields, and does this in a way that appear odd to me. Is there some common practice to solve this? I couldn't imagine that nobody had to solve this before, but I haven't found any good solution to it yet. Clarification I need this functionality for already existing content, that is, I want to be able to create and edit a draft version of an already published page, while the "old" version would still be available to anonymous users.

• Handling XMLHttpRequest to call external application

  I need a simple way to use XMLHttpRequest as a way for a web client to access applications in an embedded device. I'm getting confused trying to figure out how to make something thin and light that handles the XMLHttpRequests coming to the web server and can translate those to application calls. The situation: The web client using Ajax (ExtJS specifically) needs to send and receive asynchronously to an existing embedded application. This isn't just to have a thick client/thin server, the client needs to run background checking on the application status. The application can expose a socket interface, with a known set of commands, events, and configuration values. Configuration could probably be transmitted as XML since it comes from a SQLite database. In between the client and app is a lighttpd web server running something that somehow handles the translation. This something is the problem. What I think I want: Lighttpd can use FastCGI to route all XMLHttpRequest to an external process. This process will understand HTML/XML, and translate between that and the application's language. It will have custom logic to simulate pushing notifications to the client (receive XMLHttpRequest, don't respond until the next notification is available). C/C++. I'd really like to avoid installing Java/PHP/Perl on an embedded device. So I'll need more low level understanding. How do I do this? Are there good C++ libraries for interpreting the CGI headers and HTML so that I don't have to do any syntax processing, I can just deal with the request/response contents? Are there any good references to exactly what goes on, server side, when handling the XMLHttpRequest and CGI interfaces? Is there any package that does most of this job already, or will I have to build the non-HTTP/CGI stuff from scratch? Thanks for any help! I am really having trouble learning about the server side of these technologies.

• Assign delegate event handler from dynamically added child control

  I have a control that handles commenting. In this control, I have set a delegate event handler for sending an email. I then have various types of controls, e.g. blog, articles etc, each of which may or may not have the commenting control added (which is done dynamically with me not knowing the id's), i.e. the commenting control is added outside this control. Each of these controls handles it's emailing differently(hence the event). What I'm trying to determine, is how to assign the event in the parent control. At the moment, I'm having to recursively search through all the controls on the page until I find the comment control, and set it that way.   I am having difficulties populating a checkedlistbox (CLB) based on the selection(s) made in another. It should also be noted that I have a "Select All" checkbox at the top that checks/unchecks all of the items in the first CLB. The following code partially works until the "Select All" checkbox is clicked at which point one of two things happens: If other values have been selected before "Select All" is checked, the second CLB is filled with the correct number of corresponding values BUT only those of the most recently selected item of the first CLB instead of all of corresponding values of all of the items that were not already selected. When "Select All" is unchecked, the most recently incorrect values are removed, everything in CLB 1 is unchecked but the values in CLB 2 that were selected before "Select All" was checked remain. • Why would the value of the Session object go away?

  In ASP.NET/VB.NET 2005 I've created a small web app with two forms. In Default there is a button and a text box and a link. When you press the button whatever is in the text box is put into the Session. • How to handle authenticated user access to resources in document oriented system?

  I'm developing a document oriented application and need to manage user access to the documents. I have a module that handles user authentication, and another module that handles document CRUD operations on the data store. Once a user is authenticated I need to enforce what operations the user can and cannot perform to documents based upon the user's permissions. The best option I could think of to integrate these two pieces together would be to create another module that duplicates the data API but that also takes the authenticated user as a parameter. The module would delegate the authorization check to the auth module and delegate the document operation to the data access module. Something like: -module(auth_data_access). % User is authenticated (logged into the system) % save_doc validates if user is allowed to save the given document and if so % saves it returning ok, else returns {error, permission_denied} save_doc(Doc, User) -> case auth:save_allowed(Doc, User) of ok -> data_access:save_doc(Doc); denied -> {error, permission_denied} end end. Is there a better way I can handle this?

• Is it important to dispose SolidBrush and Pen?

  I recently came across this VerticalLabel control on CodeProject. I notice that the OnPaint method creates but doesn't dispose Pen and SolidBrush objects. Does this matter, and if so how can I demonstrate whatever problems it can cause? EDIT This isn't a question about the IDisposable pattern in general. I understand that callers should normally call Dispose on any class that implements IDisposable. What I want to know is what problems (if any) can be expected when GDI+ object are not disposed as in the above example. It's clear that, in the linked example, OnPaint may be called many times before the garbage collector kicks in, so there's the potential to run out of handles. However I suspect that GDI+ internally reuses handles in some circumstances (for example if you use a pen of a specific color from the Pens class, it is cached and reused). What I'm trying to understand is whether code like that in the linked example will be able to get away with neglecting to call Dispose. And if not, to see a sample that demonstrated what problems it can cause. I should add that I have very often (including the OnPaint documentation on MSDN) seen WinForms code samples that fail to dispose GDI+ objects.

  Recently, I had use JXLayer, to overlay two moving yellow message boxes, on the top of JFreeChart http://yccheok.blogspot.com/2010/02/investment-flow-chart.html I was wondering, had anyone experience using JXLayer + JHotdraw, to overlay all sorts of figures (Re-sizable text box, straight line, circle...), on the top of JFreeChart. I just would like to add drawing capability, without changing the JFreeChart source code. So that, JStock's user may draw trending lines, annotation text on their favorite stock charting. • FindWindowEx from user32.dll is returning a handle of Zero and error code of 127 using dllimport

  I need to handle another windows application programatically, searching google I found a sample which handles windows calculator using DLLImport Attribute and importing the user32.dll functions into managed ones in C#. The application is running, I am getting the handle for the main window i.e. Calculator itself, but the afterwards code is not working. The FindWindowEx method is not returning the handles of the children of the Calculator like buttons and textbox. I have tried using the SetLastError=True on DLLImport and found that I am getting an error code of 127 which is "Procedure not found". • How to decrypt a string encrypted with HMACSHA1?

  I'm an encryption novice trying to pass some values back and forth between systems. I can encrypt the value, but can't seem to figure out how to decrypt on the other end. I've created a simple Windows Forms application using VB.NET. Trying to input a value and a key, encrypt and then decrypt to get the original value. Here's my code so far. • jQuery resizable() dynamic maxWidth option

  I have 3 columns that are resizable. When one is made wider, the one to it's left is made smaller. Essentially there are only 2 handles. Left col and Mid col. So when Mid col is made thinner, Right col expands accordingly. All three of them are contained with a 900px parent div, so the sum of all three is always 900. They have max and min widths set statically. My issue is that if you take the left handle and move it all the way to the right you're still able to use the right handle and expand the mid col past the edge of the parent div. I thought of a way to solve that issue by writing up a function that checks the widths of the columns and then subtracts left and right columns from the parent div width, I called it mWid. This leaves me with the number I want to set as the maxWidth for Mid col. Now the issue is that mWid is not gettings updated for here "maxWidth: mWid" Here is what the function for the right handle looks like: $(function() { $("#midResizable").resizable({ handles: 'e', containment: '#container', maxWidth: mWid, // gets set once, but doesn't update! • asp.net Can I force every page to inherit from a base page? Also should some of this logic be in my master page?

  Hi! I have a web app that has a base page. Each page needs to inherit from this base page as it contains properties they all need as well as dealing with the login rights. My base page has some properties, eg: IsRole1, IsRole2, currentUserID, Role1Allowed, Role2Allowed. On the init of each page I set the properties "Role1Allowed" and "Role2Allowed" Private Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init Role1Allowed = True Role2Allowed= False End Sub The basepage then decides if the user needs redirecting. 'Sample code so not exactly what is going to be, bug gives the idea Protected Overridable Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) If Role1Allowed And Not Role1 Then 'Redirect somewhere End If End Sub The page then must override this pageload if they need anything else in it, but making sure they call the base pageload first. As there are multiple people working on this project and creating pages some are forgetting to inherit from this basepage, or call the base pageload when overriding it. • Efficient way to maintain a sorted list of access counts in Python

  Let's say I have a list of objects. (All together now: "I have a list of objects.") In the web application I'm writing, each time a request comes in, I pick out up to one of these objects according to unspecified criteria and use it to handle the request. Basically like this: def handle_request(req): for h in handlers: if h.handles(req): return h return None Assuming the order of the objects in the list is unimportant, I can cut down on unnecessary iterations by keeping the list sorted such that the most frequently used (or perhaps most recently used) objects are at the front. I know this isn't something to be concerned about - it'll make only a miniscule, undetectable difference in the app's execution time - but debugging the rest of the code is driving me crazy and I need a distraction :) so I'm asking out of curiosity: what is the most efficient way to maintain the list in sorted order, descending, by the number of times each handler is chosen? The obvious solution is to make handlers a list of (count, handler) pairs, and each time a handler is chosen, increment the count and resort the list. def handle_request(req): for h in handlers[:]: if h[1].handles(req): h[0] += 1 handlers.sort(reverse=True) return h[1] return None But since there's only ever going to be at most one element out of order, and I know which one it is, it seems like some sort of optimization should be possible. Is there something in the standard library, perhaps, that is especially well-suited to this task? Or some other data structure? (Even if it's not implemented in Python) Or should/could I be doing something completely different?

• Mixing menuItem.setIntent with onOptionsItemSelected doesn't work

  While extending a sample Android activity that fires some other activities from its menu, I came to have some menu items handled within onOptionsItemSelected, and some menu items (that just fired intents) handled by calling setIntent within onCreateOptionsMenu. Android javadoc at some point goes like <<[if you set an intent on a menu item] and nothing else handles the item, then the default behavior will be to [start the activity with the intent]. What does it actually mean "and nothing else handles the item"? Is it enough to return false from onOptionsItemSelected? I also tried not to call super.onOptionsItemSelected(item) at the beginning and only invoke it in the default switch case, but I had same results. Does anyone have any suggestion? When user has choosed his image from the gallery, I want to navigate to next page. Its navigates. But before completing navigation process, it displays MainPage & then moves toward next page. I didnt want to display the MainPage once user chooses the image from the gallery. Plz help.   Using Visual Studio 2008 and VB.Net: I have a working web app that uses an ASMX web service which is compiled into its separate assembly. I have another class library project compiled as a separate assembly that serves as a proxy to this web service. • Extra NotifyIcon shown in system tray

  I'm having an issue with an app where my NotifyIcon displays an extra icon. The steps to reproduce it are easy, but the problem is that the extra icon shows up after any of the actual codebehind we've added fires. Put simply, clicking a button triggers execution of method FooBar() which runs all the way through fine but its primary duty is to fire a backgroundworker to log into another of our apps. It only appears if this particular button is clicked. Strangely enough, we have a WndProc method override and if I step through until the extra NotifyIcon appears, it always appears during this method so something else beyond the codebehind must be triggering the behavior.
