• How do I change the Google Chrome offline icon?

  I am using some offline apps for google chrome and because of this an application indicator pops un in the gnome panel. My problem is that this indicator uses the google chrome default system tray icon and I think it looks ugly with my current theme so I would basically like to change the icon. I can't find the icons that google chrome is using for this purpose but I have no problem finding the other icons used by google chrome and changing them, like the 24x24 or 22x22 icons that you see in the gnome application menu (which by default looks like the application indicator for google chrome). It doens't seem like Google Chrome is taking the icon from e.g /usr/share/icons/ and I can't change the icon by changing the icon theme in like gconf-editor Is there anyway to see the preferences (like you can do with launchers) of the application indicators in the gnome-panel and then locate the indicator icon or change it in another way?

  I'm using three Ubuntu systems in an irregular pattern, and since I use Chrome/Chromium anyway and have a Google account, I decided to make my life a bit easier and sync them. Now I am having a problem: When I want to remove bookmarks from my lists, they not only come back when I switch the machine, they double. By now, I have up to ten identical bookmarks in the list and I spend a lot of time scrolling over them. Is there any way to remove them permanently? EDIT: Apps, too.

  Is curl something that's not expected to be installed on servers? I'm working for a small development shop and 99% of the problems that I'm having is regarding curl. Most of the projects that I'm working on involves calling a web API. Most web API's suggests using curl by default since you have to pass in a POST data in the request. Every time I complain to my senior that the server that I'm working on doesn't have curl installed the excuse that I'm always getting is that curl is not needed you can always use file_get_contents. So the question: is curl something that's not expected to be installed on servers that runs PHP, should I always develop using file_get_contents and not curl? Are there any advantages of using file_get_contents over curl or vise versa? If it helps, the context here is wordpress plugins, shopify apps, drupal modules and other bits of code that a lot of people can install.

  We usually have between 40 and 80 people attending our regular meeting at the Montreal .NET Community.  This week, we had a special Windows Phone 7 blitz with 2 meetings. The topics were very good: Tou.tv and Flickr apps development retro feedback from the teams who wrote them. In the first meeting, RunAtServer discussed how they built the Tou.tv WP7 app for Radio-Canada.  In the second meeting, nVentive discussed how they built the WP7 and Slate clients for Flickr. If you have a large 3rd party app base just yanking old versions of the API seems like the wrong way to do it as almost all apps would fail overnight. However you can't keep ancient web api's available forever as it might be outdated or there are significant changes that make working with it impossible.   We have one Facebook fan page and two personal profiles that could be sending traffic and then there are the many facebook pages of friends etc. I am also running an ad campaign from my FB account for my husband's business which has a link from his personal FB profile and his fan page. On Google analytics for his business we get the following referring sites from Facebook: /ajax/emu/end.php which is listed under facebook.com / referral /l.php (which is a not-found page at FB /ajax/emu/end.php which is listed under apps.facebook.com Both of the working links send me to the home page of my profile, which is the account I am working from to create and review the FB ad campaign that we are running. Is this info telling me any useful information at all? Is there a best practice for tracking and analyzing Facebook traffic that is a lot more granular? thanks!

• Remove dropped shadown in nemo previews

  I recently started using Nemo because Nautilus has gotten pretty terrible. I quite like it, but one thing is still bugging me: the shadow of the preview of every image and video file (see below). I've been looking around in the /usr/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-3.0/apps/nemo.css file but couldn't figure out how to get rid of that shadow. In Nautilus you get a border instead of a shadow, so surely something is different. I just can't figure out what. Any ideas?

• How to remove space between application and workspace switcher on Unity launcher?

  I just downloaded Ubuntu 11.10 for the first time. I really enjoy the launcher on the left hand side but have a problem. After playing around with adding applications in it, there are large spaces from the last application to workspace switcher. If I try to drag a new application into the launcher everything moves farther down, instead of filling in the space in between apps. When I right click on the launcher in a blank spot it reads "drop to add application." I'm looking for a way to have all of the applications close together with no spaces, like when I first downloaded Ubuntu.

We should have development tools which can generate prototype apps which can be quickly and easily customized into sophisticated applications, even by novice users! We really need new ideas in this area of software development and I would like to know of any good ideas. If we can't really find them, then we should ask "Where did we miss the boat?.. With so many assets, we have re-organized this portal slightly by introducing a new References section in the right lower corner, where we are providing quick links to the key assets. • Ubuntu won't boot and it is stuck on the loading screen

  I had just installed it as dual boot 2 days ago, and everything was fine. I was installing some programs (i think it was Play On Linux) and I don't think the install was 100% done when the battery died. Since then it won't boot into Ubuntu; it just stays at the loading screen. I did make separate partitions for boot root home and swap. Can anyone help me get it back and running again? Even if I have to reinstall it. I just don't want to go back through getting all those apps. I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 64bit on a Acer Aspire 5750 core i3 cpu 4gb ram

• How to fix Fullscreen focus error in Unity?

  Recently, I've been experiencing an error with programs that have a fullscreen mode with low resolution (80xx600 and below) in Unity. The problem isn't valid in gnomeshell. Whenever I launch an application, unity would enlarge the screen more than it should be and would only show me the upper left corner of the screen (I only see a magnified quarter of the screen). At first I thought that it was an issue related to wine but I later found out that native applications (such as world of goo) are affected as well. Apps that taken on the full screen but have a larger resolution don't face such an issue. Is it possible to get this fixed manually? Or do I have to wait for updates?

• Alt + Tab window switcher preview stoped working

  It just stopped working. After I boot Ubuntu it does not work. When I run unity --replace it works again, but after restart problem occurs again. And that happens on every reboot. I have some startup apps, but I don't think that can be the problem. Any idea? UPDATE: Looks like I had some problems with firefox causing Alt+Tab to stop working. After reinstalling firefox and computer restart it works.
