• Using Grapher on GIN application with GinModuleAdapter

  I've been trying to use Grapher on my GIN project. But trying to create an Injector to give the InjectorGrapher has not been working. • Google App Engine - Blob Store Service with a Dispatcher Servlet

  I have a central dispatcher servlet that has a servlet mapping of : <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>dispatcher</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> When i try to use the blob store service's createUploadUrl("/uploadComplete") it maps to a URL for e.g *'/_ah/upload/agp0d2VldG15cGljchsLEhVfX0Jsb2JVcGxvYWRTZXNzaW9uX18YEgw'*. Before the Blob store service can handle the upload and redirect to /uploadComplete; my dispatcher servlet gets called and i am therefore not being able to upload anything. Is there a servlet/ filter that i can map to /_ah/upload/* in my web.xml ? How do i avoid the dispatcher servlet from getting called before the Blob store service can do its thing?

• Netbeans Profiler failing for Google App Engine App

  When I try to run the netbeans profiler on my app engine project it says: runserver-profile: [java] Error occurred during initialization of VM [java] Could not find agent library in absolute path: C:\Program BUILD FAILED Target "Files\NetBeans" does not exist in the project I'm not sure if this is because its an app engine project or if its something else.   It seems like a good idea to use Google's public DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 because it's really fast -- much faster than my own ISP's DNS! -- and probably more reliable, too. That seems like a ridiculously quick win for me, and much easier to remember. Assuming we're not all "tin foil hat" about Google, why shouldn't everybody use Google DNS? Note: I've seen this question, but I don't want a comparison to OpenDNS. This is about everyday use by everyday people in their homes. Update: I seem to have put my hand in a wasps' nest of privacy concerns. I appreciate the issue, but I was expecting a more technology-oriented discussion...

• Chrome extensions: Content script (jQuery) in Youtube does not work properly

  I have this: $(document).ready(function() { $("button.yt-uix-expander-arrow").attr("id", "yt-uix-expander-arrow"); $("#yt-uix-expander-arrow").mouseover(function() { alert("Hello"); }); }); injected into Youtube. Using right click inspect element, the <button class="yt-uix-expander-arrow"> has a id="yt-uix-expander-arrow" attribute successfully added to it. However the mouseover event does not trigger. However if I were to change $("#yt-uix-expander-arrow").mouseover() to $(".yt-uix-expander-arrow").mouseover() it works. That's very unusual, because the #yt-uix-expander-arrow id has already been added to the button element. I tested it out on Facebook, adding a id to a class and doing a mouseover() event on the ID and it works. Any idea?

  I am coding something like an online PHP editor. So, now I have this option to port the web applications created using the editor as Chrome extensions (popup). It works okay save the fact that the files created need to be downloaded, packaged (using Chrome or cmd) and re-uploaded. I do have this provision but I find it annoying myself to go through this routine everytime I need to make an update to my application. So, I just want to know if there is some way we can package Chrome extensions from the web itself? Edit: I know this can be done using Ruby or even Python. Want to know if the same can be done in PHP. I tried in vain.

  I create dinamically a chart for a website. I have a key/value map, I sort the values descending, and then create the url: http://chart.googleapis.com/chart? chs=400x200&cht=bhs&chbh=a&chdlp=l&chg=25,0&chma=0,0,0,5&chtt=Chart+test& chxr=0,0,8,1&chds=0,8&chxt=t,y& chd=t:8,5,3& chxl=1:|Label_8|Label_5|Label_3 The values are set by chd=t:8,5,3, and the labels are set by chxl=1:|Label_8|Label_5|Label_3. However, in the chart image the labels are reversed. I searched the documentation, but I didn't get why it is like this. Is it because I didn't set a value correctly, or is this the desired functionality? I could reverse the label texts in chxl from code to be displayed how I want. Is this the right way?

  I updated my User class, and now whenever someone that had the old version of the User class stored in their session scope accesses my site, I get an InvalidClassException. javax.servlet.ServletException: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.io.InvalidClassException: User; local class incompatible: stream classdesc serialVersionUID = 4949038118012519093, local class serialVersionUID = -971500502189813151 How do I stop this error from happening for those users? I could probably invalidate everyone's sessions every time I want to update a class that gets stored in session scope, but is there a better way, so that my user's don't have to login again?

• Google Maps API - Get points along route between lat/long

  I have a web site that I am trying to get completed and I need to have the user click points on a map and then work out the route on the roads between the two points. So the user clicks the first point on 1st street, and then clicks another point on 4th street, and the map will find the best way to get there and plot the route on the map. I am assuming this can be done using directions and parse it up, but I have been searching for an hour now and can't find what I am looking for (maybe bad search terms). I need to be able to plot the map manually (?) so I can calculate the distance, etc... of the route as the user continues to click. The site that is in beta is http://www.RunMyRoute.com/UserRoutes/Create and you can see I am trying to create running routes. I want the user to have the option for the route to follow the roads versus just a straight line between two points on the map. Any help on this would be great! Simon.

  This is my first Bash script so forgive me if this question is trivial. I need to count the number of files within a specified directory $HOME/.junk. I thought this would be simple and assumed the following would work: numfiles= find $HOME/.junk -type f | wc -l echo "There are $numfiles files in the .junk directory." Typing find $HOME/.junk -type f | wc -l at the command line works exactly how I expected it to, simply returning the number of files. Why is this not working when it is entered within my script?   (I tried asking this on the GAE forums but didn't get an answer so am trying it here.) Currently to upload blobs, the app engine's blob store service creates a unique one- time URL that a user can post blobs to. My requirement is that I only want authenticated / authorized users to post blobs in my application. I can achieve this currently if the page that includes the multipart form to upload blobs is in my application. However, I am looking to providing a "REST API" for my users to upload their blobs. While it is true that the one-time nature of the upload URL mitigates the chances of rogue use but it's still possible. I was wondering if there is anyone on the app engine team here that can consider a feature where developers can register an upload listener. (Or if there is already a way, I'll be all ears). A standard servlet filter could also potentially do the job. This will give us an opportunity to authenticate / validate / decorate requests before the request gets forwarded to the blob store service. Thanks, Keyur

• Why has Google toolbar has stopped working in Firefox 3.6.8?

  Yesterday, I noticed that my Google Toolbar has stopped working. The toolbar is still there, but it is completely blank (no buttons or input fields, just a gray strip of nothing). In addition to this, tooltips have stopped working. If I disable the toolbar, the tooltips return to normal, so that particular problem definitely seems to be a side effect of the toolbar. I tried disabling all my other add-ons, but that made no difference. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Google Toolbar. That made no difference. I haven't tried reinstalling the browser, but I'm reluctant to do that unless absolutely necessary. Am I the only one having this problem? Any ideas how to fix? Note: I'm running Windows XP SP3. I'm using Google Toolbar version 7.1.20100723W.
