  I have a method which goes through each day of the week: def dates_week(d, delim) "<tr>" + (d.beginning_of_week...(d.beginning_of_week+5)).map do |day| "<#{delim}> #{yield(day)} </#{delim}>" end.join + "</tr>" end For each day of the week, I plug that as an arg into a method (or maybe a named_scope, haven't figured out which), that will then output the .count for :all the emails that have a :date_sent on that date. However, :date_sent is a date-timestamp, so I can't use == as I have below. def sent_emails_by_date(date) ContactEmail.find(:all, :conditions => "date_sent = '#{date}'" " ).count end How do I find all the emails that fall on the day for the date passed through from the method which loops through a week as shown above?

• Checking for duplicates with nested forms

  I'm making a rails 3.2.9 app that allows users to create pages and they can embed youtube videos through a nested form. I'm trying to figure out how to make it so that I can prevent duplicate video records from being stored in my db. So I have a Video model that takes the youtube url and just parses out the video id and stores that instead of the full user submitted youtube url, which may have extraneous url query parameters. So here's the situation that I'm trying to figure out: There's page1 with video1 - url: 123 and video2 - url: abc Then another user creates page2 and submits video3 - url: def and video4 - url: 123 Currently each page has_many videos. But I think I should change it to a many-to-many relationship. But how would I make it so that the url submitted as video4 in the nested form points to video1? Also I how would I make a nested form that creates objects that are connected through a join table?

• Concatenating string with number in Javascript

  I'm trying to create a simple calculator in Javascript. I have an array named expression chunk[0] = 12 chunk[1] = + (the "+" sign) chunk[1] = 5 I used a for loop to loop through the chunks (chunk[]) and join then into a single expression as follows:- equation = ""; // To make var equation a string for(i = 0; i <= length; i++) { equation = equation + expression[i]; alert(expression[i]); } alert(equation); alert(expression[i]) showed values 12, + and 5. But alert(equation) showed 125 (instead of "12+5"). I need the variable equation to be "12+5" so that I can later call eval(equation) and get the value of 12+5. What am I doing wrong here?

  I am creating a cube with the following tables: Customer CustomerID, Name Customer Rep CustomerID, RepID Rep RepID, Name The important thing here is that there is a many to many relationship between Reps and Customers. I want to be able to ask the question "How much sales for customers working with rep 'A'?" In the data source view i set up the relationships between both customerid columns and both repid columns. I set up the rep attribute in the dimension builder and when I try to build the cube I get this error: Errors in the high-level relationship engine. the 'Rep' table that is required for a join cannot be reached based on the relationships in the data source view.

• Query useing two databases in SQL Report Builder

  I am new to SQL Server Report Builder 2.0 and I need to compare two different databases in one query. Basically I need to check if values from one database table exist in a different database's table. I know I can add multiple Datasources to my report and access each one with Subreports, but each DataSet that I create can only have one query in it. So how can I go about using one query to access two databases? Or if there is another way to somehow join my results from multiple DataSets, that would work too. Also, the databases are on the same server.

• How can I use foreach and fork together to do something in parallel?

  This question is not UVM specific but the example that I am working on is UVM related. I have an array of agents in my UVM environment and I would like to launch a sequence on all of them in parallel. If I do the below: foreach (env.agt[i]) begin seq.start(env.agt[i].sqr); end , the sequence seq first executes on env.agt[0].sqr. Once that gets over, it then executes on env.agt[1].sqr and so on. I want to implement a foreach-fork statement so that seq is executed in parallel on all agt[i] sequencers. No matter how I order the fork-join and foreach, I am not able to achieve that. Can you please help me get that parallel sequence launching behavior? Thanks.

• Why doesn't functools.partial return a real function (and how to create one that does)?

  So I was playing around with currying functions in Python and one of the things that I noticed was that functools.partial returns a partial object rather than an actual function. One of the things that annoyed me about this was that if I did something along the lines of: five = partial(len, 'hello') five('something') then we get TypeError: len() takes exactly 1 argument (2 given) but what I want to happen is TypeError: five() takes no arguments (1 given) Is there a clean way to make it work like this?   I have a SQL Server table with a list of files (path + filename), and a folder with multiple layers and files in each layer. I'm looking for a way to reconcile the two without having to process the list twice. Currently, I'm doing this: For Each f as FileInfo In FileListFromDatabase If f.Exists is False, mark it as deleted in the database Next For Each f as FileInfo In RecursiveListOFFilesOnDisk If Not FileExistsInDatabase, then add it Next Is there a better way to do this? I'd like to avoid converting all the matching files (of which most will be) to FileInfo objects twice. Since I'm a T-SQL developer first, I'm picturing something like an OUTER JOIN of the two lists where they don't match. Something LINQ-ish?

The linking between the two is VOUCHERDATADBID. How do I go about it? It is not a 1:1 mapping. What I mean is there may be 1000 SERIALNUMBERS with a same VOUCHERDATADBID. And that VOUCHERDATADBID has only entry in VOUCHERDATAT, hence one value. Therefore, all serial numbers belonging to a certain VOUCHERDATADBID will have the same value. Will JOINS work? What type of JOIN should I use? Or is UPDATE table the way to go? Thanks for the help !!

However, I would like to also save the identical data to a second archive table.   Hopefully I can ask this without being confusing. I am a photographer and I am having some of our clients rate pictures that we have taken. We have hundreds of pictures in our portfolio that they may be rating. What I want to do is ask our clients to rate pictures again, but only show them the pictures they haven't yet rated. I currently have three tables: one that stores the actual ratings, one that stores the pictures (or location of each picture), and one that stores the information about the rater. I'm using codeigniter for my db management, if that helps at all. What I have so far is this: "SELECT * FROM ratings LEFT JOIN portfolio ON ratings.portfolioid = portfolio.portfolioid" This will give me a row for each rating, but won't show me where a rating is missing for a picture.   I have a query returning the counts of some data, but I do NOT want data that has a null value in it... As an example, the code rolls stats from a clicking system into a table. SELECT sh.dropid, ... FROM subscriberhistory sh INNER JOIN subscriberhistory sh2 on sh.subid = sh2.subid WHERE sh.dropid IS NOT NULL AND sh.dropid != "" ... GROUP BY sh.dropid An example of the record set returned would look like this... 400 2 3 4 5 6 401 2 3 6 5 4 NULL 2 3 4 5 1 There are some other where clauses, and a few more selects (as I said, using the count aggregate) that are also within the query. There is also an order by statement. Again, the goal is to keep the NULL data out of the preceding record set. Could someone explain to me why this behavior is occurring and what to do to solve it.

  I have searched for this, but still can't seem to get this to work for me. I have an array of Id's associated with a user (their Organization Id). From this, though, I want to run another Linq query that gets a list of Personnel, that code is as follows: List<Personnel> query = (from p in this.Database.Personnels where (search the array) select p).ToList(); I want to add in the where clause a way to select only the users with the OrganizationId's in the array. So, in SQL where I would do something like "where OrganizationId = '12' or OrganizationId = '13' or OrganizatonId = '17'." Can I do this fairly easily in Linq / .NET?
