  Ringo is a delegate of Paul's mailbox in Exchange, but when Ringo sends mail from Paul's mailbox, the recipient sees "Paul" in the sender field, rather than "Paul Sent On Behalf Of Ringo" Paul has set "Editor" permissions for Ringo to his mailbox, and Ringo has been granted "Send on behalf of" permissions in Exchange. Ringo did at one time have "Send As" permissions for Paul's mailbox in Exchange, but this has since been removed. This is also the case for all other delegates to Paul's mailbox. • What is the simplest, open-source webmail frontend available?

  I am working on a project to create a few extremely stripped down interfaces for common Web/Internet tasks in order to make computers accessible to my visually impaired grandmother. Currently she uses Mac OS X Mail.app, but I had the idea that I could re-skin a webmail interface running on my own server to make it easier for her to use. The ideal webmail interface to use as a starting point would be without frames or AJAX and written in Python, Perl, or PHP5+, though any setup could work as long as the template and stylesheet files were separate from the application itself. This frontend must also connect to a remote IMAP server, since her email account is with her ISP and not on my server. Can anyone recommend a bare-bones, no-nonsense webmail interface that would work for this?

• Dovecot ignoring maximum number of IMAP connections

  I have a single mailbox mail server running Dovecot/Postfix and I have two IMAP clients, Thunderbird on the PC and K9 on Android. I keep on receiving this error in my logs even after I change the 'mail_max_userip_connections' variable to 50. puppet dovecot: imap-login: Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded (mail_max_userip_connections=10): user=<[email protected]>, method=PLAIN, rip=62.242.90.2, lip=198.29.31.229, TLS Why does it say that it is set to 10 in the log? Is that hardcoded? grep -r "mail_max_userip_connections" /etc/dovecot /etc/dovecot/conf.d/20-managesieve.conf: #mail_max_userip_connections = 10 /etc/dovecot/conf.d/20-pop3.conf: #mail_max_userip_connections = 3 /etc/dovecot/conf.d/20-imap.conf: mail_max_userip_connections = 50 I've restarted dovecot after making the changes but this error is still logged and I can't access the mailbox. Can anyone help me understand why I can't seem to raise the maximum limit?

• Is there anyway to configure Google account for Windows 8 Sync?

  Recently upgraded to Windows 8. The problem is a lot of Sync features requires Microsoft account to linked. Even though I have one, I don't want to spare one for Sync purpose. Additionally, Google-Chrome's sync feature is absolutely charming. So I prefer Google for storing my data. So, 1) Is there anyway to replace Microsoft Sync with other accounts by patching or modifying any byte? 2) I want to replace Maps, Weather, and all possible apps with Google. I've see Mail can be done. What are the all other possible Metro apps?

• Thunderbird Transition from POP3 to IMAP Keeping Directory Structure

  For the past 6 years I have been using Thunderbird as a POP3 client to gmail (I do not delete the messages from the server after downloading). I organize all of my mail locally and occasionally use gmail for web access. Obviously, any local changes aren't reflected on the server so I have one inbox with 10s of 1000s of unread messages (since I usually read them on Thunderbird and they do not get marked as read in gmail) I'd like to start using IMAP but the main deterrent is that I'd lose the organization of my email. Is there any utility that I could use to reconstruct the structure? I am not sure if it is possible to correlate messages I've downloaded from the server with messages still on the server. A solution which requires minor scripting/databasing is acceptable!

• Receive emails on Amazon EC2 Server

  I just got started with an EC2 instance and got my mail sending limit removed, allowing me to send emails from my instance. But due to lack of experience, I have no clue on how to enable receiving emails send to me on that server. The instance has an elastic IP and I have a domain name with an A record pointing to that IP. I cant seem to find better documentation on what steps need to be taken so if someone sends an email to [email protected] it either actually receives it or simply forwards it to my personal email. I know that it involves using postfix but cant find a guide to properly configure it after the installation. Thanks

  Hi everyone and marry Christmas, I’ve to create an auto-reply for some of the users in my organization where, when a person sends an E-mail to e.g. [email protected] is faced with an automatically auto-reply with some message “closed during the holidays. We are back at… etc. etc. etc.”. I’ve tried to create a Transport Rule on our Exchange server but the only option I can find in the actions-window is to reply with a “Bounce message to sender with enhanced status code” but I guess that is not the precise action I’m looking for. How can I set up a server-side auto-reply, apply it to only a fixed number of users in my organization and create a message to the senders (which is outside the organization)? Sincerely Mestika

  I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird 9.0.1 with Lightning 1.1.1. Is there an easier way to import an ICS file attached to an email than saving it to disk, then in Calendar going to File -- Open? If I select "Open with Thunderbird" from the save dialog, it just opens a new mail message and attaches the file to it. (I did see this older question, but it refers to much older versions of Thunderbird and Lightning) Update: I've updated to 10.0 and 1.2, respectively and it still doesn't work right. • Exchange 2013 Virtual Machine: Backup just mailboxes and clear logs

  I have a Windows Server 2012 machine running Exchange 2013 running as a KVM virtual machine. For my VM guests, I do full image based backups from the host, so that I can quickly restore to any host server simply by copying over the disk image files. This means I don't need a nightly full system backup. That being said, without running a VSS Full Backup, the Exchange logs get massive (Specifically, the performance logs which are 500MB a day). In addition, I would also like to have a nightly backup of just the mail database. What is the best way to accomplish this? A full backup of the C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15 folder as I found in one tutorial did not clear out the logs. Thanks, Ben

• Get OWA and ActiveSync working on server using HTTP redirect in IIS 7

  We have two servers on our LAN. One is a Windows 2003 Server domain controller running Exchange 2003. The other is a stand-alone Windows 2008 server running IIS 7. Our company website runs on the IIS 7 (2008) server, so the firewall forwards port 80 to this. How can I get OWA and ActiveSync to work with this setup? And without using SSL. I have tried setting up a website on the IIS 7 box (mail.ourdomain.com) and using HTTP redirect to point to http://mailserver/exchange, but this doesn't work. Do we have to purchase an SSL certificate for this to work?

I have to go Gmails compose mail, They have some LDAP Setting by which I get all the email ids using AJAX in "To" as soon as I start typing. I want to configure same in Thunderbird, I contacted university but they are not able to help me. Is it possible that on my G-Apps Gmail Settings those LDAP Parameter needed for configuration are presents? Can anyone help me?   Hi, I'm using postfix to relay mail to Exchange 2010. Here is my config: relayhost = [smtp.exchange.2010] smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes smtp_sasl_password_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/relay_passwd smtp_sasl_security_options = #smtp_sasl_mechanism_filter = ntlm (/etc/postfix/relay_passwd contains login information of some accounts on Exchange) With this configuration I can relay email to Exchange. The problem is: the message send from Postfix has header: X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthAs: Anonymous and the message is treated like unAuthenicated message on Exchange system (i.e when sending to distribution group require senders are authenicated, I received error: #550 5.7.1 RESOLVER.RST.AuthRequired; authentication required ##rfc822;[email protected]). I using Outlook with the same account as in Postfix and it can send without problem. The different I realized between two case is: Outlook send with NTLM auth mech, Postfix using LOGIN mech. Any idea?

The email says: You are receiving this e-mail message because you are an administrator of the following SharePoint Web site, which has exceeded the warning level for storage: https://mysite.xxx.ac.uk/personal/xxx/. To see how much storage is being taken up by this site, go to the View site collection usage summary: https://mysite.xxx.ac.uk/personal/xxx/_layouts/Usage.aspx.   Using ThunderBird 3 on Windows 7. When I get a mail with a link, I usually click it, if I know what it's about. Sadly, Thunderbird switches to Firefox which is opening the new tab. I'm active on several forums and get several of these messages per day. I don't want to click a link, be forced into firefox, go back to thunderbird, click a link, be forced into Firefox, etc... Is there an option to disable this? If not, I can see myself quitting Thunderbird altogheter and simply using web-based email checking instead of using an app.

  The problem is that I have to go through proxy here in college to make my internet work. When I signed with my live id to switch to the Microsoft account in Windows 8, it recognized and validate my security questions but says it cannot connect to Microsoft Services. All other apps like mail, messenger, etc. work except for the Windows Store. The windows store what apps are available but when installed, queues it up for a pending download. Is there a way to modify my proxy settings so that I can access both these features?

  I have a dedicated server that works fine. Recently I added a new domain with a new dedicated IP address. The emails from the webserver gets sent out from the primary IP address which is different from the IP address of the domain. This causes the emails to end up in the Junk email folders. Is there anything I can do changing the SMTP server to the new IP address or configuring send mail? I need this for my php server on centos.

  Is it possible to trick the GoGo Inflight WiFi on airlines into thinking that you have a mobile device instead of a laptop? It seems like most airlines that offer in flight wireless these days use GoGo. They offer different pricing for mobile and laptops. It seems like they are checking the browser's user agent. Out of curiosity, is it possible to use a Firefox extension like this one to spoof the user-agent and allow a laptop to access the internet under a GoGo mobile plan? How would GoGo handle something like an IMAP email client, like Thunderbird. Do IMAP clients have a user-agent field as well that would normally identify whether the mail client is running on a laptop or mobile device?

  Hey, I can't connect to an exchange server using windows XP and outlook 2007, using the "connect anywhere over HTTP" process, it has been working until recently and the user reports no recent changes to his environment. The error is "Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action" It will prompt me for the username and password which I can enter, then it will give the errorm however this only happens when I delete the account and enter all details for the excahnge server again. The client computer that is unable to connect using outlook can connect to the HTTPS mail service and login send/receive fine. Nobody else has reported issues. making a test environment with a clean install of XP and outlook 2007 gives the same error, but using windows 7 and outlook 2007 connects perfectly fine everytime. I also removed all passwords using control keymgr.dll which didnt help. Any assistance or ideas would be appreciated, at this point nothing I've tried from technet or google works <_<

The description says it syncs your Outlook email and calendar items with Google Apps, but doesn't using Outlook as an IMAP client against Google Apps do the same?

• Importing Outlook 2007 rules error

  I'm trying to move an Outlook 2007 account (POP3, no Exchange) to a new machine and I'm having trouble importing the rules from the old machine to the new one. Here is the deal, I imported the .pst file on the new machine but when I try to import the rules, every single one of them brakes. The folders and sub-folders hierarchy is preserved upon the import of the .pst but the rules don't point to the right folder in the respective rule. Instead it points to "the specified folder". Same OS (Windows XP), same mail client (Outlook 2007) and the .psf file is about 8 GB. Any help i greatly appreciated.
