  • how to do these in visio 2007?

    - by user285825
    I am very annoyed with this software. I am unable to do many things with this software. In the book 'UML distilled' many features of UML are discussed which I am not sure how to accomplish with visio 2007. For instance, 1) I can't find the unary association. In the UML static structure under shapes panel on left, there are a lot of components like package, class, blah, blah, binary association, blah, blah, association class. But where is unary association. 2) For sequence diagram, I created a message (any of sync, async, call type message, ordinary message). The I tried to incorporate some parameter information. I went to the properties. There were a category called arguments. But selecting that shows a table where arguments are supposed to be shown. But all are diasbled. 3) For sequence diagram, there is no component delete (the big X) in the UML Sequence. 4) For class diagram, there is supposed to be a comment compartment where comments like mentioning the responsibilities are allowed using a comment prefixed with "--". But I am not sure how to accomplish them. 5) there is also supposed to be a way to indicate static properties of a class. But I am not sure how to do that in visio. 6) there is supposed to be a stereotype for class <. But in the stereotype drop down there is no stereotype. 7) where is the ball and socket component?

  • Sending email via GMail in .NET

    - by VP
    I am getting the following error when I try to send an email in my C# program. I am using Visual Studio 2008 on windows 7. I would paste my code first and then the error: class email_log_files { private string login_username = "my_gmail_id"; private string login_password = "my_gmail_password"; public void send_email() { string src_address = "[email protected]"; string dest_address = "[email protected]"; try { MailMessage email_msg = new MailMessage(); SmtpClient email_client = new SmtpClient(); email_msg.From = new MailAddress(src_address); email_msg.Sender = new MailAddress(src_address); email_msg.ReplyTo = new MailAddress(src_address); email_msg.To.Add(dest_address); email_msg.Subject = "Test"; email_msg.Body = "Body of the message"; NetworkCredential credentials = new NetworkCredential(login_username, login_password); email_client.Credentials = credentials; email_client.Host = "smtp.gmail.com"; email_client.Port = 465; email_client.EnableSsl = true; email_client.Send(email_msg); Console.WriteLine("Message Sent Successfully!!"); Console.ReadLine(); } } } And the error message is as follows: The operation has timed out. Why is it always timing out? I am sure that I have the correct smtp server address and port number for gmail as I have configured my outlook with the same. Any help or ideas?

  • SSRS2005 timeout error

    - by jaspernygaard
    Hi I've been running around circles the last 2 days, trying to figure a problem in our customers live environment. I figured I might as well post it here, since google gave me very limited information on the error message (5 results to be exact). The error boils down to a timeout when requesting a certain report in SSRS2005, when a certain parameter is used. The deployment scenario is: Machine #1 Running reporting services (SQL2005, W2K3, IIS6) Machine #2 Running datawarehouse database (SQL2005, W2K3) which is the data source for #1 Both machines are running on the same vm cluster and LAN. The report requests a fairly simple SP - lets called it sp(param $a, param $b). When requested with param $a filled, it executes correctly. When using param $b, it times out after the global timeout periode has passed. If I run the stored procedure with param $b directly from sql management studio on #2, it returns the results perfectly fine (within 3-4s). I've profiled the datawarehouse database on #2 and when param $b is used, the query from the reporting service to the database, never reaches #2. The error message that I get upon timeout, when using param $b, when invoking the report directly from SSRS web interface is: "An error has occurred during report processing. Cannot read the next data row for the data set DataSet. A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded. Operation cancelled by user." The ExecutionLog for the SSRS does give me much information besides the error message rsProcessingAborted I'm running out of ideas of how to nail this problem. So I would greatly appreciate any comments, suggestions or ideas. Thanks in advance!

  • How to import RoR project to Netbeans

    I have very simple (in fact empty ) project which i have created by rails new MyProject command from command-line. So, i want to import it to NetBeans IDE. I click "new project" - "RoR" - "from existing source", select Ruby 1.9.2 (instead of embedded JRuby) in the wizard form. After that i have got errors [see the picture below]: So.. i click OK. • Java: library that does nice formatted log outputs

    - by WizardOfOdds
    I cannot find back a library that allowed to format log output statements in a much nicer way than what is usually seen. One of the feature I remember is that it could 'offset' the log message depending on the 'nestedness' of where the log statement was occuring. That is, instead of this: DEBUG | DefaultBeanDefinitionDocumentReader.java| 86 | Loading bean definitions DEBUG | AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory.java| 411 | Finished creating instance of bean 'MS-SQL' DEBUG | DefaultSingletonBeanRegistry.java| 213 | Creating shared instance of singleton bean 'MySQL' DEBUG | AutowireCapableBeanFactory.java| 383 | Creating instance of bean 'MySQL' DEBUG | AutowireCapableBeanFactory.java| 459 | Eagerly caching bean 'MySQL' to allow for resolving potential circular references DEBUG | AutowireCapableBeanFactory.java| 789 | Another debug message It would shows something like this: DEBUG | DefaultBeanDefinitionDocumentReader.java| 86 | Loading bean definitions DEBUG | AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory.java | 411 | Finished creating instance of bean 'MS-SQL' DEBUG | DefaultSingletonBeanRegistry.java | 213 | Creating shared instance of singleton bean 'MySQL' DEBUG | AutowireCapableBeanFactory.java | 383 | Creating instance of bean 'MySQL' DEBUG | AutowireCapableBeanFactory.java | 459 | |__ Eagerly caching bean 'MySQL' to allow for resolving potential circular references DEBUG | AutowireCapableBeanFactory.java | 789 | |__ Another debug message This is an example I just made up (VeryLongCamelCaseClassNamesNotMine). But I remember seeing such cleanly formatted log output and they were really much nicer than anything I had seen before and, in addition to being just plain nicer, they were also easier to read for they reproduced some of the logical organization of the code. Yet I cannot find anymore what that library was. I'm pretty sure it was fully compatible with log4j or sl4j.

  • What does 'postMessage()' do when called on an object tag?

    - by Stephano
    I was recently searching for a way to call the print function on a PDF I was displaying in adobe air. I solved this problem with a little help from this fellow, and by calling postMessage on my PDF like so: //this is the HTML I use to view my PDF <object id="PDFObj" data="test.pdf" type="application/pdf"/> ... //this actionscript lives in my air app var pdfObj:Object = htmlLoader.window.document.getElementById("PDFObj"); pdfObj.postMessage([message]); I've tried this in JavaScript as well, just to be sure it wasn't adobe sneaking in and helping me out... var obj = document.getElementById("PDFObj"); obj.postMessage([message]); Works well in JavaScript and in ActionScript. I looked up what the MDC had to say about postMessage, but all I found was window.postMessage. Now, the code works like a charm, and postMessage magically sends my message to my PDF's embedded JavaScript. However, I'm still not sure how I'm doing this. Any ideas?

  • Authorization and Jquery dialog problem.

    - by bbrepols
    Hi, I have a little problem with a Jquery dialog for an action that requires a role. In my example, the user can click on a delete button and must confirm the action. In my controller, the Delete action requires a role, if the user is in the required role, the object is deleted. The problem: How to alert the user if * the element was deleted (redirect to the Index view) * there was an error (alert with the message) * he doesn't have the rights to delete (alert with the message) Before using the authorize filter, the delete action returned a JSON with a Boolean that indicates if there was an error, an URL to redirect on success and a message to alert on error. As I can't return a JSON from my filter, I created an other method with the authorize filter that returns a partial view with the confirm content. If the user doesn't have the rights, the filter returns a partial view with an unauthorized exception content. The problem: How to distinct which partial view was returned. When I create the dialog, I need to know for the buttons function. Thanks!

  • Application error passthru when using apache mod_proxy

    - by user303442
    Heyas. I'm using mod_proxy with apache2 provide vhost ability to multiple servlet apps running on the local machine. It works fine, for the most part. Requests come into apache then are directed to the application bound on a port on localhost. The app receives the request and responds, which is delivered back to the client by apache. The problem I'm having is that the application delivers 500's on errors, and mod_proxy stomps on them. Often these errors are caused in a ajax request and the error is handled in client side javascript. For example, a call to a server side createObject(name) might throw a NameNotUniqueException , which is delivered back as a 500. The client javascript might then display an appropriate error message. When an error is thrown by the application (resulting in a 500 response to mod_proxy), then apache stomps the error message and returns 500 Internal Server Error Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. .. the stock apache server side error message. I want mod_proxy to pass the original 500 back through to the client. Is there a directive I've missed which prevents clobbering of the 500? TIA

  • How to parse a custom XML-style error code response from a website

    - by user1870127
    I'm developing a program that queries and prints out open data from the local transit authority, which is returned in the form of an XML response. Normally, when there are buses scheduled to run in the next few hours (and in other typical situations), the XML response generated by the page is handled correctly by the java.net.URLConnection.getInputStream() function, and I am able to print the individual results afterwards. The problem is when the buses are NOT running, or when some other problem with my queries develops after it is sent to the transit authority's web server. When the authority developed their service, they came up with their own unique error response codes, which are also sent as XMLs. For example, one of these error messages might look like this: <Error xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <Code>3005</Code> <Message>Sorry, no stop estimates found for given values.</Message> </Error> (This code and similar is all that I receive from the transit authority in such situations.) However, it appears that URLConnection.getInputStream() and some of its siblings are unable to interpret this custom code as a "valid" response that I can handle and print out as an error message. Instead, they give me a more generic HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found error. This problem cascades into my program which then prints out a java.io.FileNotFoundException error pointing to the offending input stream. My question is therefore two-fold: 1. Is there a way to retrieve, parse, and print a custom XML-formatted error code sent by a web service using the plugins that are available in Java? 2. If the above is not possible, what other tools should I use or develop to handle such custom codes as described?

  • int.Parse of "8" fails. int.Parse always requires CultureInfo.InvariantCulture?

    - by Henrik Carlsson
    We develop an established software which works fine on all known computers except one. The problem is to parse strings that begin with "8". It seems like "8" in the beginning of a string is a reserved character. Parsing: int.Parse("8") -> Exception message: Input string was not in a correct format. int.Parse("80") -> 0 int.Parse("88") -> 8 int.Parse("8100") -> 100 CurrentCulture: sv-SE CurrentUICulture: en-US The problem is solved using int.Parse("8", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture). However, it would be nice to know the source of the problem. Question: Why do we get this behaviour of "8" if we don't specify invariant culture? Additional information: I did send a small program to my client achieve the result above: private int ParseInt(string s) { int parsedInt = -1000; try { parsedInt = int.Parse(s); textBoxMessage.Text = "Success: " + parsedInt; } catch (Exception ex) { textBoxMessage.Text = string.Format("Error parsing string: '{0}'", s) + Environment.NewLine + "Exception message: " + ex.Message; } textBoxMessage.Text += Environment.NewLine + Environment.NewLine + "CurrentCulture: " + Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture.Name + "\r\n" + "CurrentUICulture: " + Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture.Name + "\r\n"; return parsedInt; }

  • Where can I find a list of all possible messages that an XmlException can contain?

    - by Rahul
    I'm writing an XML code editor and I want to display syntax errors in the user interface. Because my code editor is strongly constrained to a particular problem domain and audience, I want to rewrite certain XMLException messages to be more meaningful for users. For instance, an exception message like this: '"' is an unexpected token. The expected token is '='. Line 30, position 35 .. is very technical and not very informative to my audience. Instead, I'd like to rewrite it and other messages to something else. For completeness' sake that means I need to build up a dictionary of existing messages mapped to the new message I would like to display instead. To accomplish that I'm going to need a list of all possible messages XMLException can contain. Is there such a list somewhere? Or can I find out the possible messages through inspection of objects in C#? Edit: specifically, I am using XmlDocument.LoadXml to parse a string into an XmlDocument, and that method throws an XmlException when there are syntax errors. So specifically, my question is where I can find a list of messages applied to XmlException by XmlDocument.LoadXml. The discussion about there potentially being a limitless variation of actual strings in the Message property of XmlException is moot.

  • Excel Automation - creating a new worksheet

For some reason, I am getting a strange COM error (0x800A03EC) Has anyone managed to get this to work? Does anyone have suggestions as to how to troubleshoot this? I've isolated this into the minimum amount of code: using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel; using System.Diagnostics; namespace ExcelAutomation { public static class ExcelTests { public static void CreateWorksheet() { try { var app = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application(); app.Visible = true; var workBooks = app.Workbooks; var newWorkbook = app.Workbooks.Add(XlWBATemplate.xlWBATWorksheet); Worksheet existingWorksheet = (Worksheet)newWorkbook.Sheets[1]; Worksheet workSheet = (Worksheet)newWorkbook.Sheets.Add ( null, // before existingWorksheet, null, // 1, null //XlSheetType.xlWorksheet ); } catch (System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException ex) { Trace.WriteLine(string.Format("Caught COMException. Message: \"{0}\"", ex.Message)); } } } } The output window now says: Caught COMException. Message: "Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A03EC"

  • phpUnit - mock php extended exception object

    - by awongh
    I'm testing some legacy code that extends the default php exception object. This code prints out a custom HTML error message. I would like to mock this exception object in such a way that when the tested code generates an exception it will just echo the basic message instead of giving me the whole HTML message. I cannot figure out a way to do this. It seems like you can test for explicit exceptions, but you can't change in a general way the behavior of an exception, and you also can't mock up an object that extends a default php functionality. ( can't think of another example of this beyond exceptions... but it would seem to be the case ) I guess the problem is, where would you attach the mocked object?? It seems like you can't interfere with 'throw new' and this is the place that the object method is called.... Or if you could somehow use the existing phpunit exception functionality to change the exception behavior the way you want, in a general way for all your code... but this seems like it would be hacky and bad....

  • ASP.NET MVC unit testing

    - by Simon Lomax
    Hi, I'm getting started with unit testing and trying to do some TDD. I've read a fair bit about the subject and written a few tests. I just want to know if the following is the right approach. I want to add the usual "contact us" facility on my web site. You know the thing, the user fills out a form with their email address, enters a brief message and hits a button to post the form back. The model binders do their stuff and my action method accepts the posted data as a model. The action method would then parse the model and use smtp to send an email to the web site administrator infoming him/her that somebody filled out the contact form on their site. Now for the question .... In order to test this, would I be right in creating an interface IDeliver that has a method Send(emailAddress, message) to accept the email address and message body. Implement the inteface in a concrete class and let that class deal with smtp stuff and actually send the mail. If I add the inteface as a parameter to my controller constructor I can then use DI and IoC to inject the concrete class into the controller. But when unit testing I can create a fake or mock version of my IDeliver and do assertions on that. The reason I ask is that I've seen other examples of people generating interfaces for SmtpClient and then mocking that. Is there really any need to go that far or am I not understanding this stuff?

  • Netty options for real-time distribution of small messages to a large number of clients?

    - by user439407
    I am designing a (near) real-time Netty server to distribute a large number of very small messages to a large number of clients across the internet. In internal, go as fast as you can testing, I found that I could do 10k clients no sweat, but now that we are trying to go across the internet, where the latency, bandwidth etc varies pretty wildly we are running into the dreaded outOfMemory issues, even with 2 gigs of RAM. I have tried various workarounds(setting the socket stack sizes smaller, setting high and low water marks, cancelling things that are too old), and they help a little, but they seem to only help a little bit. What would some good ways to optimize Netty for sending large #s of small messages without significant delays? Also, the bulk of the message only consists of one kind of message that I don't particularly care if it doesn't arrive. I would use UDP but because we don't control the client, thats not really a possibility. Is it possible to set a separate timeout solely for this kind of message without affecting the other messages? Any insight you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

It states the following error: $ rails s script/rails:6:in `require': no such file to load -- rails/commands (LoadError)` from script/rails:6:in `<main>' Saw the answer on this related question but my Gemfile has no reference to any rails 2.x version and in the "bundle install" results i get this in the results: "Using rails (3.0.1)" EDIT: (adding Gemfile.lock details) GEM remote: http://rubygems.org/ specs: abstract (1.0.0) actionmailer (3.0.1) actionpack (= 3.0.1) mail (~> 2.2.5) actionpack (3.0.1) activemodel (= 3.0.1) activesupport (= 3.0.1) builder (~> 2.1.2) erubis (~> 2.6.6) i18n (~> 0.4.1) rack (~> 1.2.1) rack-mount (~> 0.6.12) rack-test (~> 0.5.4) tzinfo (~> 0.3.23) activemodel (3.0.1) activesupport (= 3.0.1) builder (~> 2.1.2) i18n (~> 0.4.1) activerecord (3.0.1) activemodel (= 3.0.1) activesupport (= 3.0.1) arel (~> 1.0.0) tzinfo (~> 0.3.23) activeresource (3.0.1) activemodel (= 3.0.1) activesupport (= 3.0.1) activesupport (3.0.1) arel (1.0.1) activesupport (~> 3.0.0) builder (2.1.2) calendar_date_select (1.16.1) erubis (2.6.6) abstract (>= 1.0.0) googlecharts (1.6.0) i18n (0.4.2) mail (2.2.9) activesupport (>= 2.3.6) i18n (~> 0.4.1) mime-types (~> 1.16) treetop (~> 1.4.8) mechanize (1.0.0) nokogiri (>= 1.2.1) mime-types (1.16) nokogiri (1.4.3.1) pg (0.9.0) polyglot (0.3.1) rack (1.2.1) rack-mount (0.6.13) rack (>= 1.0.0) rack-test (0.5.6) rack (>= 1.0) rails (3.0.1) actionmailer (= 3.0.1) actionpack (= 3.0.1) activerecord (= 3.0.1) activeresource (= 3.0.1) activesupport (= 3.0.1) bundler (~> 1.0.0) railties (= 3.0.1) railties (3.0.1) actionpack (= 3.0.1) activesupport (= 3.0.1) rake (>= 0.8.4) thor (~> 0.14.0) rake (0.8.7) sparklines (0.5.2) thor (0.14.4) treetop (1.4.8) polyglot (>= 0.3.1) tzinfo (0.3.23) PLATFORMS ruby DEPENDENCIES calendar_date_select googlecharts mechanize pg rails (= 3.0.1) sparklines EDIT: (adding Boot.rb details) require 'rubygems' # Set up gems listed in the Gemfile. gemfile = File.expand_path('../../Gemfile', __FILE__) begin ENV['BUNDLE_GEMFILE'] = gemfile require 'bundler' Bundler.setup rescue Bundler::GemNotFound => e STDERR.puts e.message STDERR.puts "Try running `bundle install`." exit! end if File.exist?(gemfile)

  • How can I set up an editor to work with Git on Windows?

    - by Patrick McElhaney
    I'm trying out Git on Windows. I got to the point of trying "git commit" and I got this error: Terminal is dumb but no VISUAL nor EDITOR defined. Please supply the message using either -m or -F option. So I figured out I need to have an environment variable called EDITOR. No problem. I set it to point to Notepad. That worked, almost. The default commit message opens in Notepad. But Notepad doesn't support bare line feeds. I went out and got Notepad++. But I can't figure out how to get Notepad++ set up as the %EDITOR% in such a way that it works with Git as expected. I'm not married to Notepad++. At this point I couldn't care less what editor I use. I just want to be able to type my commit messages without using -m. So, for those of you using Git on Windows: What (free) tool do you use to edit your commit message, and what do you get when you type echo %EDITOR% at the command prompt?

  • Debugging Actionmailer

    - by Trip
    I have actionmailer set up. Emails are not being sent, and no errors. Where can I start my search to debug this? class Notifier < ActionMailer::Base default_url_options[:host] = APP_DOMAIN def email_blast(user, subject, message) subject subject from NOTIFIER_EMAIL recipients user.email sent_on Time.zone.now body :user => user.first_name + ' ' + user.last_name, :message => message end I do get a return in my log that the email was sent, just no actual email goes through. Also the reason, that this is not working is because I switched form a cluster to a solo box and some server settings were overwritten. I suspect that is probably the reason why this is not working. Anyone know what specific server settings I would have to look at ? UPDATE: ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :sendmail config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => "75.101.153.93" } I found this in my production.rb . This code was originally here when it worked. Again, I believe that there must be something missing on my server..I did a 'which sendmail' and it returned /usr/bin/sendmail , so I added this : config.action_mailer.raise_delivery_errors = false config.action_mailer.perform_deliveries = true config.action_mailer.sendmail_settings = { :location => '/usr/bin/sendmail', :arguments => '-i -t' } Redeployed, restarted the server, and tested it. No emails were sent. The production.log said something was sent : Processing MediaController#create_a_video (for 173.161.167.41 at 2010-06-03 11:58:13) [GET] Parameters: {"action"=>"create_a_video", "controller"=>"media", "organization_id"=>"470", "_"=>"1275591493194"} Sent mail to [email protected] Rendering media/create_a_video Completed in 128ms (View: 51, DB: 1) | 200 OK [http://invent.hqchannel.com/organizations/470/media/create_a_video?_=1275591493194]

  • Can I interrupt javascript code and then continue on a keystroke?

    - by Brian Ramsay
    I am porting an old game from C to Javascript. I have run into an issue with display code where I would like to have the main game code call display methods without having to worry about how those status messages are displayed. In the original code, if the message is too long, the program just waits for the player to toggle through the messages with the spacebar and then continues. This doesn't work in javascript, because while I wait for an event, all of the other program code continues. I had thought to use a callback so that further code can execute when the player hits the designated key, but I can't see how that will be viable with a lot of calls to display.update(msg) scattered throughout the code. Can I architect things differently so the event-based, asynchronous model works, or is there some other solution that would allow me to implement a more traditional event loop? Am I making sense? Example: // this is what the original code does, but obviously doesn't work in Javascript display = { update : function(msg) { // if msg is too long // wait for user input // ok, we've got input, continue } }; // this is more javascript-y... display = { update : function(msg, when_finished) { // show part of the message $(document).addEvent('keydown', function(e) { // display the rest of the message when_finished(); }); } }; // but makes for amazingly nasty game code do_something(param, function() { // in case do_something calls display I have to // provide a callback for everything afterwards // this happens next, but what if do_the_next_thing needs to call display? // I have to wait again do_the_next_thing(param, function() { // now I have to do this again, ad infinitum } }
