• Bug: files uploaded via desktop or web client have hidden tag when listed via API

  Files uploaded to Google Drive sometimes incorrectly have a hidden tag when listed via the Document List v3 REST API: <category scheme='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005/labels' term='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005/labels#hidden' label='hidden'/> This happens if: a subfolder is created via the Google Drive desktop client and files are copied in, or a folder is uploaded via the Google Drive web client. The folder does not have the hidden tag, but the files that were uploaded do. The files do not have this tag if: they are individually uploaded via the Google Drive web client to the subfolder, or they are uploaded via the REST API to the subfolder, or they are uploaded via the desktop client to the My Drive root. The files and folders show up in Google Drive whether they have the hidden tag or not. We're using the API with the following scope: https://docs.google.com/feeds/ https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/ https://docs.googleusercontent.com/ I have verified and can recreate this with the OAuth 2.0 playground. Google Drive desktop client version 1.3.3209.2600 on Win7 32-bit I guess these must be bugs in the API...

• Error setting env thru subprocess.call to run a python script on a remote linux machine

  I am running a python script on a windows machine to invoke another python script on a remote linux machine. I am using subprocess.call with ssh to do this, like below: subprocess.call('ssh -i <identify file> username@hostname python <script_on_linux_machine>') and this works fine. However, if I want to set some environment variables, like below: subprocess.call('ssh -i <identify file> username@hostname python <script_on_linux_machine>', env={key1:value1}) it fails. I get the following error: ssh_connect: getnameinfo failed ssh: connect to host <hostname> port 22: Operation not permitted 255 I've tried splitting the ssh commands into list and passing. Didn't help. I've tried to run other 'local'(windows) commands thru subprocess.call() and tried setting the env. It works fine. I've tried to run other commands(such as ls) on the remote linux machine. Again, subprocess.call() works fine, as long as I don't try to set the environment. What am I doing wrong? Would I be able to set the environment for a python script on a remote machine? Any help will be appreciated.

• autologin component doesn't work on remote server

  I am using autologin component from http://milesj.me/code/cakephp/auto-login (v 3.5.1). It works on my localhost WAMP server but fails on remote server. • Architecting ASP.net MVC App to use repositories and services

  Hello, I recently started reading about ASP.net MVC and after getting excited about the concept, i started to migrate all my webform project to MVC but i am having a hard time keeping my controller skinny even after following all the good advices out there (or maybe i just don't get it ... ). The website i deal with has Articles, Videos, Quotes ... and each of these entities have categories, comments, images that can be associated with it. I am using Linq to sql for database operations and for each of these Entities, i have a Repository, and for each repository, i create a service to be used in the controller. so i have - ArticleRepository ArticleCategoryRepository ArticleCommentRepository and the corresponding service ArticleService ArticleCategoryService ... you see the picture. The problem i have is that i have one controller for article,category and comment because i thought that having ArticleController handle all of that might make sense, but now i have to pass all of the services needed to the Controller constructor. So i would like to know what it is that i am doing wrong. Are my services not designed properly? should i create Bigger service to encapsulate smaller services and use them in my controller? or should i have an articleCategory Controller and an articleComment Controller? A page viewed by the user is made of all of that, thee article to be viewed,the comments associated with it, a listing of the categories to witch it applies ... how can i efficiently break down the controller to keep it "skinny" and solve my headache? • Packaging Java apps for the Windows/Linux desktop.

  I am writing an application in Java for the desktop using the Eclipse SWT library for GUI rendering. I think SWT helps Java get over the biggest hurdle for acceptance on the desktop: namely providing a Java application with a consistent, responsive interface that looks like that belonging to any other app on your desktop. However, I feel that packaging an application is still an issue. OS X natively provides an easy mechanism for wrapping Java apps in native application bundles, but producing an app for Windows/Linux that doesn't require the user to run an ugly batch file or click on a .jar is still a hassle. Possibly that's not such an issue on Linux, where the user is likely to be a little more tech-savvy, but on Windows I'd like to have a regular .exe for him/her to run. Has anyone had any experience with any of the .exe generation tools for Java that are out there? I've tried JSmooth but had various issues with it. Is there a better solution before I crack out Visual Studio and roll my own? Edit: I should perhaps mention that I am unable to spend a lot of money on a commercial solution.

• PHP PDO changes remote host to local hostname

  I'm trying to connect to a remote mysql server using PDO. However, regardless of the hostname or ip address i supply in the dsn, when the script is run it always reverts the address to the hostname of the local server where the webserver is running. Google suggests this could be something to do with SELinux and apaches ability to connect to remote databases, however i have SELinux disabled. Distro: Ubuntu 11.04 x64 Apache version: 2.2.17 PHP Version: PHP 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.11 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) Edit: Added code as requested.   We have a windows application, it connects to a web service (XML web service hosted on a Windows 2008 Server IIS 7.5, no antivirus) and fetches some data to the client. But sometimes (around 5%-10% of the requests), it gives an error when trying to connect web service. • Variable number of arguments in an Axis2 POJO

  I have a web service that I built with Axis2/Java. The web service will take in a list of objects and will process them. I'll use the following operation as an example. public class AddToDatabaseService{ public void addToDatabase(String name1, String name2, String name3, ....) { //add names to database } } I want the caller of my web service to use a URI like: http://localhost:8080/axis2/services/addToDatabase?name1=Joe&name2=Bob&name3=Kelly&name4=... I'm aware this is not compilable code and the idea is still there. Is this even possible with SOAP-based web services? I know this is possible to do with RESTful services because you can just take the HttpServletRequest request object and do Enumeration enumeration = request.getParameterNames() and iterate through them. I'm looking for the equivalent of that in web services POJO's with Axis2. A link or an sample program would be great! Thanks.

• WAMP starts Apache or Mysql, but not both?

  When I install WAMP, the Apache and Mysql services are set to run as the LocalService user and all works well. However, because I need to access remote UNC paths in my PHP code, I need to run at least Apache as a user that exists on both the local host and the remote host - I'll call him WampUser. When both Apache and Mysql are set to start as WampUser, I cannot start both at the same time. If both are stopped, I can start either successfully. When I attempt to start the other, I get Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. This error appears immediately - there is no timeout. When at least one of the services is set to start as LocalService, both start fine. I can, therefore, solve my problem by setting Apache to WampUser and Mysql to LocalService, but I'm more interested in why this is happening in the first place. I'm especially curious because this situation does not occur on other servers - something I've done to this server has made these two services exclusive when running as the same user. Here are some miscellaneous data points: I am using Windows Server 2003. I've provided recursive Full Control to the C:\wamp directory for WampUser. Nothing appears in the event log after the service fails. No log entries appear in either the Mysql log or the Apache error log. Neither application appears in the process list when the appropriate service is stopped. Any ideas?

  I have an InstallScript project in IS2010. It has a handful of services that get installed. Some are C++ exes and use the "InstallShield Object for NT Services". Others are Java apps installed as services with Java Service Wrapper through LaunchAppAndWait command line calls. Tomcat is also being installed as a service through a call to its service.bat. When the installer runs in upgrade mode, the services are reinstalled, and the settings (auto vs. manual startup, restart on fail, log-on account, etc.) are reverted to the defaults. I would like to save the service settings before the file transfer and then repopulate them afterward, but I haven't been able to find a good mechanism to do this. How can I save and restore the service settings?

• How to implement a sharepoint lists webservice

  I want to implement a web-service that uses the same interface as the Lists web service in sharepoint. I do not want to run this through sharepoint. What is a good way to get started in this? I have tried to use the wsdl.exe tool to generate some wrapper classes but the generated wrappers seem to have punted on the structure parameters and just specified them as XML. For example below is the generated wrapper for GetList - it should return a structure which has the information in the list, but instead it is returning XML. • debugging on bsd using gdb or similar tootls

  I have started using freebsd lately and realized gdb does not support remote debugging on it. Whenever, I try to do remote debugging using gdbserver, I run into SIGSEGV crashes and error message says can’t find definition of “r_debug_state”. Has anyone ever experienced this and solved it? Statically compiled single threaded programs can be compiled using gdbserver. However, other than that it is mostly looking difficult to use. Let me know if anyone knows any other tools to do remote application debugging on bsd or how to fix the issue. (I am on x64 freebsd 9) Thanks

  Hi all, Googling for the past week, but cannot finally decide which python web framework would be right for me. The web app I'm about to develop would be almost completely "pure" html with js (jQuery). Server side would have to do the following: authentication session management caching web services (almost all the on page data would be pulled with jQuery through web services) secured web services (through some form of authentication; this is for remote accessing some of the web services though other web apps, desktop/mobile applications) If there is a good tutorial/guide/idea for how to do this in Django I would be most thankfull if someone could share it as I already have experience with it. The thing that made me start thinking about other frameworks is Django's built in ORM. I know I could swap it with SQLAlchemy, but wouldn't go down that road if I'm not sure all the rest of the requirements is supported. Thanks all in advance.

• PXE-E32 TFTP Open Timeout While Attempting to PXE Boot from Windows Deployment Services

  I'm running Windows Deployment Services on Windows Server 2008 R2 on top of an ESX 4.0 box. This is the only function of this VM instance, although it had previously functioned as an AD Domain Controller. My DHCP server is running on our primary Domain Controller, which is also Server 2008 R2, but running on metal. Everything was working perfectly until we recently had our backup generator fail during a power outage, causing all of our servers and networking equipment to lose power for a period of time. When we brought all of our equipment back up, everything was working as expected except for WDS. Our network is split up into several different vlans. Now, depending on which vlan the client computer is on, it's behaving differently when attempting to PXE boot into WDS. Our servers are located on the 10.55.x.x vlan, which, due to the nature of it, has no DHCP server active in it. The first computer we plugged in happened to be in the 10.99.x.x vlan, which is supposed to be reserved for network management devices (i.e. switches), but we've been using it occasionally otherwise. That computer gave us PXE-E11 ARP Timeout errors. When we moved to a different computer on the 10.19.x.x vlan (for general purpose use), it finally gets an IP from DHCP, but it presents us with a very stumping PXE-E32 TFTP Open Timeout error. Before the power outage, it didn't matter which vlan a device was on; it would PXE boot and image just fine. I've made no changes to anything server-side. Everything is configured exactly the same way it was on my WDS and DHCP servers as before the power outage. I've tried several different computers, including different models. All of this, combined with the quirky behavior depending on the vlan, makes me think something went wrong in one or more of our switches, probably because of the power outage. Unfortunately, I'm no network guy, and I know very little about how to configure our switches properly. Is this an issue with switches, etc? If so, how can I fix it? Is there some magical option I'm not aware of? Does anybody out there have any hunches? I've pretty much exhausted my ideas. Our main switch is an HP Procurve 5406. We also have 3x HP Procurve 4208 switches. The ESX Server is an HP ProLiant DL380 G6. The WDS VM is currently using the VMXNET3 network adaptor, but we've also tried the E1000 adaptor.

  Hi, I'm a self confessed Linux newbie, having lived and worked mostly within the Windows world for most of my life. I'm making the effort to try moving my virtual host from a Windows box to a Linode instance to try and better learn Linux, and one of the uses I occasionally have with my current Windows VPS is to RDP into it and browse the internet. I'm aware that this is probably not best practice (from either performance or security), and most of the time I will be learning from the shell, but I do occasionally need to boot into a GUI.   Hi, I'm a self confessed Linux newbie, having lived and worked mostly within the Windows world for most of my life. I'm making the effort to try moving my virtual host from a Windows box to a Linode instance to try and better learn Linux, and one of the uses I occasionally have with my current Windows VPS is to RDP into it and browse the internet. I'm aware that this is probably not best practice (from either performance or security), and most of the time I will be learning from the shell, but I do occasionally need to boot into a GUI.
