  • Best way to sign data in web form with user certificate

    We have a C# web app where users will connect using a digital certificate stored in their browsers. From the examples that we have seen, verifying their identity will be easy once we enable SSL, as we can access the fields in the certificate, using Request.ClientCertificate, to check the user's name. We have also been requested, however, to sign the data sent by the user (a few simple fields and a binary file) so that we can prove, without doubt, which user entered each record in our database. Our first thought was creating a small text signature including the fields (and, if possible, the md5 of the file) and encrypt it with the private key of the certificate, but... As far as I know we can't access the private key of the certificate to sign the data, and I don't know if there is any way to sign the fields in the browser, or we have no other option than using a Java applet. And if it's the latter, how we would do it (Is there any open source applet we can use? Would it be better if we create one ourselves?) Of course, it would be better if there was any way to "sign" the fields received in the server, using the data that we can access from the user's certificate. But if not, any info on the best way to solve the problem would be appreciated.

    Introduction: I want to loop through XML files with flexible categories structure. Problem: I don't know to loop through a theoretical infinte subcategories without having to make x amount of "for each" statements (See coding example in the bottom). How do I dynamically traverse the categories structure?     How do i introduce validation before remote_form_for submits? I have javascript function called validateForm(). I am able to call it before the AJAX request process. I tried to use return false and event.preventDefault. But there seems to be no effect. Repeating this code is not an option becasue it triggers SelectIndexChange event and had to do some crappy work around to avoid that. So I was wondering if there is way to refresh the combobox list. I actually thought binding with the DataSource property supposed to do it automatically. I also tried cbCountyList.Refresh() Thanks in advance.

  • How to allow certain HTML tags in a form field in Symfony 1.2

    I'm playing around with Symfony and have encountered a road block. I created a model "CmsPage" which has a field called "content" which is stored as a clob (this is specific to doctrine I believe). When I created the app I set "--escaping-strategy=on" so if I enter any html when editing a CmsPage that gets encoded with html entities or something along those lines. I would like to allow html in this field and a quick googling hasn't helped much. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong terms. Anywho I would like to disable character escaping for this field and possibly only allow a small selection of html tags. What is the correct way to do this in Symfony?

I've tried using a recursive CTE to generate this; however maybe a cursor would be better? Or maybe a set of recursive functions will do the trick?   • VS2010 and CSS: What is the best way to position a single form control

    OK, I have a ton of controls on my page that I need to individually place. I need to set a margin here, a padding there, etc. None of these particular styles that I want to apply will be applied to more than control. What is the bets practice for determining at which level the style is placed, etc? OK, my choices are 1) External CSS file 1A) Using ClientIdMode = Auto (the default) I could assign a unique CssClass value to the ASP.NET control and, in the external CSS file, create a class selector that would only be applied to that one control. 1B) User Client ID = Predicatable In the external CSS file, I could determine what the ID will be for the controls of interest and create an ID selector (#ControlID{Style} ). However, I fear maintenance issues due to including/removing parent containers that would cause the ID to change. 1C) User Client ID = Static. I could choose static IDs for the controls such that I minimize the likelihood of a clash with auto generated IDs (perhaps by prefixing the ID with "StaticID_" and use an external stylesheet with ID selectors. 2) I could place the style right on the control. The only disadvantage here, as I see it, is that style info is brought down each time instead of being cached , which is what I'd get using an external CSS. If a style isn't resused, I personally don't see much benefit to placing it in an external file, though please explain why if you disagree. Is there moire of a reason that "It's nice to have all the CSS in one place?"

    I am using the location module and views module for a postcode search, which works fine in a page display using views. However I want the user to be able to enter their postcode into a block on the homepage and clicking submit my module sends them to the page created in views and the postcode is set as a session S_SESSION['postcode'] before sending to this page, next I want the location page to load but using the session to display the locations automatically. Any ideas I am using hook_form_submit() and inside that declaring the $form_state as a session and then using $form_state['redirect'] to sent to the views page path.

  • I am attempting to pull all years and terms from database except the last term

    I have a logic problem: We have a database that has a donations table with name, address, last donation year, and last donation term (Spring and Fall). We want to pull all donors unless they donated in the last term (Spring or Fall). I have been trying to figure out the logic of pulling all years up to the current year while omitting the last term. So for example this year is 2012 and we are in the Spring term (I defined the spring term between 1/1 and 6/30) so I only want to display donors before and including spring 2011 (we will exclude the current term which is spring 12 and the last term which is fall 2011). The problem is I want to pull sprig 2011, fall 2010, spring 2010 etc, but only omit the current term and last term donated.

  • listener not being called

    I have a table with a button. When the button is clicked I call Modalbox.show (http://okonet.ru/projects/modalbox/) that displays a little form with another button. When the user clicks this second button, a listener is attached to an iframe in the form and the form is submitted to the server. The server does something then it should return back to the form and execute the listener function. This works fine on IE but not in Firefox (on Firefox it never comes back).   • integrating facebook auth into my web form app

    Hi, I would like to allow my users to authorise my app with their fb on registration. All of the examples i see redirect users to the fb canvas page after authorisation, but i only want this to be a step in the registration process. Essentially, i want an icon they can click that would open up a new window where they can login to fb and a simple postback to the registration page where i would detect the login and hide the login button. Any ideas on how I can achieve this using the facebook c# sdk? Thanks and Merry Christmas :)
