  • SQL decimal conversion error

    Hey, my app parses numerous txt files in a directory that are almost all formatted identically, then inserts the values into columns of my sql db. However, there are a few files that the app has come across where a value is 'blank' instead of '0.0', so the application fails stating that it cannot convert that value to numeric.   • Rails - default value in text_field but only for new_record?

    On a Content model have an attribute named slug. When creating a new record, I want to use a helper to populate this field, but on an existing record I want to use the value from the database. Currently I have: <%- if @content.new_record? -%> <%= f.text_field :slug, :value => "#{generate_slug(6)}" %> <%- else %> <%= f.text_field :slug %> <%- end %> But that seems a bit verbose. Is this the best way, or is there no other way? (Rails newb just trying to find the "Rails way" on issues I'm unsure of) Edit I should note that the helper is currently in /app/helpers/application_helper.rb

    Is there a Java equivalent of SQL's COALESCE function? That is, is there any way to return the first non-null value of several variables? e.g. Double a = null; Double b = 4.4; Double c = null; I want to somehow have a statement that will return the first non-null value of a, b, and c - in this case, it would return b, or 4.4. (Something like the sql method - return COALESCE(a,b,c)). I know that I can do it explicitly with something like: return a != null ? a : (b != null ? b : c) But I wondered if there was any built-in, accepted function to accomplish this.

So i need to use that in my app.config I tried to give the same value as, <add key="Path_SqlDump" value="\"C:\\MySQL\\MySQL Server 5.0\\bin\\mysqldump\""></add> But the above gives me error, because of the quotes. All i need is, i should be able to assign "\"C:\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysqldump\"" to a string. HOW ?

  • After MS Access Conversion 97 --> 2002 I get 'Enter Parameter Value' when exitting a form.

    Hi, So when I exit a form from my newly converted .mdb it asks to Enter Parameter Value. It goes through (ie if i enter a value, it asks for another) the values required for a query that is run on a List Box on the page. The query has not been changed during the conversion. The values it is getting for the query are from text boxes on the same form. There are a few Requeries in the form (run from VB) so I imagine that it is rerunning again on Exit (although this isnt explicit in the form properties). I'm not quite sure how to go about solving this. Your help would be great. Thanks

    I want to construct a value in a list comprehension, but also filter on that value. For example: [expensive_function(x) for x in generator where expensive_function(x) < 5] I want to avoid calling expensive_function twice per iteration. The generator may return an infinite series, and list comprehensions aren't lazily evaluated. So this wouldn't work: [y in [expensive_function(x) for x in generator where expensive_function(x)] where y < 5] I could write this another way, but it feels right for a list comprehension and I'm sure this is a common usage pattern (possible or not!).

The problem is that I'm trying to use a variable with ::ldap::add and it's just not working.     I have two columns, the second column depends on the content on the first column. By default, the second columns is readonly. When I enter some valid value, I want the second column to become editable. To achive this, I created a cell template and cell edit template on the second column where back ground and read only bound to the first column. On load, the first column is null so my second columns comes correctly as read only.     I have a function that gives me the following warning: [DCC Warning] filename.pas(6939): W1035 Return value of function 'function' might be undefined The function, however, is clean, small, and does have a known, expected, return value. The first statement in the function is: Result := ''; and there is no local variable or parameter called Result either. Is there any kind of pragma-like directive I can surround this method with to remove this warning? This is Delphi 2007. Unfortunately, the help system on this Delphi installation is shot, so I can't pop up the help for that warning right now. Anyone know off the top of their head what I can do?
