  • JAVA: POST data via HTTPS does not seem to get sent?

    - by ostollmann
    Hi guys (and girls), I have a problem POSTing data via HTTPS in Java. The server response is the same whether or not I send 'query'. Maybe someone can point out what the problem is... Thanks! Main class: package bind; public class Main { public static final String urlString = "https://www.sms.ethz.ch/cgi-bin/sms/send.pl"; public static void main(String[] args) { Message msg = new Message("Alles klar?"); URL url = new URL(urlString); String[][] values = new String[3][2]; values[0][0] = "action"; values[0][1] = "listoriginators"; values[1][0] = "username"; values[1][1] = "xxxxxx"; values[2][0] = "password"; values[2][1] = "xxxxxx"; Query query = new Query(values); System.out.println("Query: " + query.getQuery()); Request request = new Request(url.getURL(), query.getQuery()); } } Request class: package bind; public class Request { static private int ic = 0; private URL url; protected Request(java.net.URL URL, String query){ ic++; if(CONSTANTS.SHOW_LOGS) { System.out.println("log: new instance of 'Message'"); } // connect try { System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs", "com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol"); java.security.Security.addProvider(new com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider()); javax.net.ssl.HttpsURLConnection connection = (javax.net.ssl.HttpsURLConnection) URL.openConnection(); connection.setDoInput(true); connection.setDoOutput(true); connection.setRequestMethod("POST"); connection.setFollowRedirects(true); connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Length", String.valueOf(query.length())); connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "application/x-www- form-urlencoded"); connection.setRequestProperty("User-Agent", "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)"); java.io.DataOutputStream output = new java.io.DataOutputStream(connection.getOutputStream()); output.writeBytes(query); // <<-- NOTHING CHANGES IF I COMMENT THIS OUT OR NOT !!??!?! System.out.println("log: response code: " + connection.getResponseCode()); System.out.println("log: response message: " + connection.getResponseMessage()); java.io.DataInputStream input = new java.io.DataInputStream(connection.getInputStream()); for(int i = input.read(); i != -1; i = input.read()) { System.out.print((char)i); } System.out.print("\n"); input.close(); } catch(java.io.IOException e) { if(CONSTANTS.SHOW_LOGS) { System.out.println("error: unable to connect"); System.out.println(e); e.printStackTrace(); } } } } URL Class: public class URL { static private int ic = 0; private String URLString; private java.net.URL url; protected URL(String a_url){ ic++; if(CONSTANTS.SHOW_LOGS) { System.out.println("log: new instance of 'URL'"); } setURLString(a_url); createURL(); } private void setURLString(String a_url) { URLString = a_url; } private void createURL() { try { url = new java.net.URL(URLString); } catch(java.net.MalformedURLException e) { System.out.println("error: invalid URL"); System.out.println(e); e.printStackTrace(); } } private void showURL() { System.out.println("URL: " + url.getHost() + url.getPath()); } public java.net.URL getURL() { return url; } } PS: mostly from here: http://www.java-samples.com/java/POST-toHTTPS-url-free-java-sample-program.htm

  • mysql_close doesn't kill locked sql requests

    - by Nikita
    I use mysqld Ver 5.1.37-2-log for debian-linux-gnu I perform mysql calls from c++ code with functions mysql_query. The problem occurs when mysql_query execute procedure, procedure locked on locked table, so mysql_query hangs. If send kill signal to application then we can see lock until table is locked. Create the following SQL table and procedure CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `tabletolock` ( `id` INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) )ENGINE = InnoDB; DELIMITER $$ DROP PROCEDURE IF EXISTS `LOCK_PROCEDURE` $$ CREATE PROCEDURE `LOCK_PROCEDURE`() BEGIN SELECT id INTO @id FROM tabletolock; END $$ DELOMITER; There are sql commands to reproduce the problem: 1. in one terminal execute lock tables tabletolock write; 2. in another terminal execute call LOCK_PROCEDURE(); 3. In first terminal exeute show processlist and see | 2492 | root | localhost | syn_db | Query | 12 | Locked | SELECT id INTO @id FROM tabletolock | Then perfrom Ctrl-C in second terminal to interrupt our procudere and see processlist again. It is not changed, we already see locked select request and can teminate it by unlock tables or kill commands. Problem described is occured with mysql command line client. Also such problem exists when we use functions mysql_query and mysql_close. Example of c code: #include <iostream> #include <mysql/mysql.h> #include <mysql/errmsg.h> #include <signal.h> // g++ -Wall -g -fPIC -lmysqlclient dbtest.cpp using namespace std; MYSQL * connection = NULL; void closeconnection() { if(connection != NULL) { cout << "close connection !\n"; mysql_close(connection); mysql_thread_end(); delete connection; mysql_library_end(); } } void sigkill(int s) { closeconnection(); signal(SIGINT, NULL); raise(s); } int main(int argc, char ** argv) { signal(SIGINT, sigkill); connection = new MYSQL; mysql_init(connection); mysql_options(connection, MYSQL_READ_DEFAULT_GROUP, "nnfc"); if (!mysql_real_connect(connection, "127.0.0.1", "user", "password", "db", 3306, NULL, CLIENT_MULTI_RESULTS)) { delete connection; cout << "cannot connect\n"; return -1; } cout << "before procedure call\n"; mysql_query(connection, "CALL LOCK_PROCEDURE();"); cout << "after procedure call\n"; closeconnection(); return 0; } Compile it, and perform the folloing actions: 1. in first terminal local tables tabletolock write; 2. run program ./a.out 3. interrupt program Ctrl-C. on the screen we see that closeconnection function is called, so connection is closed. 4. in first terminal execute show processlist and see that procedure was not intrrupted. My question is how to terminate such locked calls from c code? Thank you in advance!

  • Why do I get a connection error / timeout when using python suds to connect to Microsoft CRM?

    - by Chris R
    When I try to connect to an MS CRM web service using suds/python-ntlm, I am getting a timeout on requests. However, the code that I'm trying to replace -- which calls out to the cURL command line app to do the same call -- succeeds. Clearly something is different in the way that cURL is sending the command data, but I'll be damned if I know what the difference is. Below are the full details of the various calls. Anyone got any tips? Here's the code that is making the request, followed by the output. The cURL command code is below that, and its response follows. Hosts, users, and passwords have been changed to protect the innocent, of course. wsdl_url = 'https://client.service.host/MSCrmServices/2007/MetadataService.asmx?WSDL' username = r'domain\user.name' • Need help implementing simple socket server using GIOService (GLib, Glib-GIO)

    - by Mark Renouf
    I'm learning the basics of writing a simple, efficient socket server using GLib. I'm experimenting with GSocketService. So far I can only seem to accept connections but then they are immediately closed. From the docs I can't figure out what step I am missing. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. When running the following: # telnet localhost 4000 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host. # telnet localhost 4000 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host. # telnet localhost 4000 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host. Output from the server: # ./server New Connection from 127.0.0.1:36962 New Connection from 127.0.0.1:36963 New Connection from 127.0.0.1:36965 Current code: /* * server.c * * Created on: Mar 10, 2010 * Author: mark */ #include <glib.h> #include <gio/gio.h> gchar *buffer; gboolean network_read(GIOChannel *source, GIOCondition cond, gpointer data) { GString *s = g_string_new(NULL); GError *error; GIOStatus ret = g_io_channel_read_line_string(source, s, NULL, &error); if (ret == G_IO_STATUS_ERROR) g_error ("Error reading: %s\n", error->message); else g_print("Got: %s\n", s->str); } gboolean new_connection(GSocketService *service, GSocketConnection *connection, GObject *source_object, gpointer user_data) { GSocketAddress *sockaddr = g_socket_connection_get_remote_address(connection, NULL); GInetAddress *addr = g_inet_socket_address_get_address(G_INET_SOCKET_ADDRESS(sockaddr)); guint16 port = g_inet_socket_address_get_port(G_INET_SOCKET_ADDRESS(sockaddr)); g_print("New Connection from %s:%d\n", g_inet_address_to_string(addr), port); GSocket *socket = g_socket_connection_get_socket(connection); gint fd = g_socket_get_fd(socket); GIOChannel *channel = g_io_channel_unix_new(fd); g_io_add_watch(channel, G_IO_IN, (GIOFunc) network_read, NULL); return TRUE; } int main(int argc, char **argv) { g_type_init(); GSocketService *service = g_socket_service_new(); GInetAddress *address = g_inet_address_new_from_string("127.0.0.1"); GSocketAddress *socket_address = g_inet_socket_address_new(address, 4000); g_socket_listener_add_address(G_SOCKET_LISTENER(service), socket_address, G_SOCKET_TYPE_STREAM, G_SOCKET_PROTOCOL_TCP, NULL, NULL, NULL); g_object_unref(socket_address); g_object_unref(address); g_socket_service_start(service); g_signal_connect(service, "incoming", G_CALLBACK(new_connection), NULL); GMainLoop *loop = g_main_loop_new(NULL, FALSE); g_main_loop_run(loop); }

  • mysql timeout - c/C++

    - by user1262876
    Guys i'm facing a problem with this code, the problem is the timeout by timeout i mean the time it takes the program to tell me if the server is connected or not. If i use my localhost i get the answer fast, but when i connect to outside my localhost it takes 50sc - 1.5 min to response and the program frezz until it done. HOw can i fix the frezzing, or make my own timeout, like if still waiting after 50sc, tell me connection failed and stop? please use codes as help, becouse i would understand it better, thanks for any help i get PS: USING MAC #include "mysql.h" #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> // Other Linker Flags: -lmysqlclient -lm -lz // just going to input the general details and not the port numbers struct connection_details { char *server; char *user; char *password; char *database; }; MYSQL* mysql_connection_setup(struct connection_details mysql_details) { // first of all create a mysql instance and initialize the variables within MYSQL *connection = mysql_init(NULL); // connect to the database with the details attached. if (!mysql_real_connect(connection,mysql_details.server, mysql_details.user, mysql_details.password, mysql_details.database, 0, NULL, 0)) { printf("Conection error : %s\n", mysql_error(connection)); exit(1); } return connection; } MYSQL_RES* mysql_perform_query(MYSQL *connection, char *sql_query) { // send the query to the database if (mysql_query(connection, sql_query)) { printf("MySQL query error : %s\n", mysql_error(connection)); exit(1); } return mysql_use_result(connection); } int main() { MYSQL *conn; // the connection MYSQL_RES *res; // the results MYSQL_ROW row; // the results row (line by line) struct connection_details mysqlD; mysqlD.server = (char*)"Localhost"; // where the mysql database is mysqlD.user = (char*)"root"; // the root user of mysql mysqlD.password = (char*)"123456"; // the password of the root user in mysql mysqlD.database = (char*)"test"; // the databse to pick // connect to the mysql database conn = mysql_connection_setup(mysqlD); // assign the results return to the MYSQL_RES pointer res = mysql_perform_query(conn, (char*) "SELECT * FROM me"); printf("MySQL Tables in mysql database:\n"); while ((row = mysql_fetch_row(res)) !=NULL) printf("%s - %s\n", row[0], row[1], row[2]); // <-- Rows /* clean up the database result set */ mysql_free_result(res); /* clean up the database link */ mysql_close(conn); return 0; }

  • Framework 4 Features: User Propogation to the Database

    - by Anthony Shorten
    Once of the features I mentioned in a previous entry was the ability for Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4 to automatically propogate the end user to the database connection. This bears more explanation. In the past releases of the Oracle Utilities Application Framework, all database connections are pooled and shared within a channel of access. So for example, the online connections on the Business Application Server share a common pool of connections and the batch in a thread pool shares a seperate pool of connections. The connections are pooled for performance reasons (the most expensive part of a typical transaction is opening and closing connections so we save time by having them ready beforehand). The idea is that when a business function needs some SQL to be execute it takes a spare connection from the pool, executes the SQL and then returns the connection back to the pool for reuse. Unfortunelty to support the pool being started and ready before the transactions arrives means that you need to have a shared userid (as you dont know the users who need them beforehand). Therefore each connection uses the same database user to execute the SQL it needs. This is acceptable for executing transactions, generally but does not allow the DBA or other tools to ascertain which end user is actually running the transaction. In Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4, we now set the CLIENT_IDENTIFIER to the end userid (not the Login Id) when the connection is taken from the pool and used and reset it back to blank when returned to the pool. The CLIENT_IDENTIFIER is a feature that is present in the Oracle Database connection information. From a monitoring perspective, when a connection to the database is actively running SQL, the end user is now able to be determined by querying the CLIENT_IDENTIFIER on the session object within the database. This can be done in the DBA's favorite monitoring tool (even just some SQL on the v$session table is enough). This has other implications as well. Oracle sells a lot of other security addons to the database and so do third parties. If a site wants to have additional levels of security or auditing in the database then the CLIENT_IDENTIFIER, if supported, is now available to be recorded or used by those products to provide additional levels of security. This facility was one of the highly "nice to haves" that customers would ask us about so we now allow it to be used to allow finer grained monitoring and additional security facilities. Note: This facility is only available for customers using the Oracle Database versions of our products.

  • SSH-forwarded X11 display from Linux to Mac lost after some time

    - by mklein9
    I have a new and vexing problem with ssh forwarding my X11 connection when logging in from a Mac (10.7.2) to Linux (Ubuntu 8.04). I have no trouble using ssh -X to log in to the remote machine and starting an X11-based application from that shell. What has recently started happening is that additional invocations of X11 applications from that same shell, after a while (on the order of hours), are unable to start because the forwarded display is being blocked (I presume). When attempting to start xterm, for example, I get the usual message about a bad DISPLAY setting, such as: xterm Xt error: Can't open display: localhost:10.0 But the X11 application I started right when I logged in is still running along just fine, using that exact same display (localhost:10.0), just that it was started earlier. I turned on verbose logging in sshd_config and I see this in the /var/log/auth.log file in response to the failed xterm startup attempt: sshd[22104]: channel 8: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed If I ssh -X to the server again, starting a new shell and getting assigned a new display (localhost:11.0), the same process repeats: the X11 applications started early on run just fine for as long as I keep them open (days), but after a few hours I cannot start any new ones from that shell. Particulars: OpenSSH sshd server running on Ubuntu 8.04, display forwarded to a Mac running Lion (10.7.2) with the default Apple X server. The systems are connected on an Ethernet LAN with a single switch between them. Neither machine is running a firewall. Until recently (a few days ago) this setup worked perfectly so I am mystified as to where to look next. I am by no means an X11 or SSH expert but have good UNIX/Linux experience. Nothing obvious has changed in either client or server configuration although I have tried changing a few options to try to debug this, like setting sshd_config's TCPKeepAlive to no, and setting "host +localhost" (you can tell I've been Googling). When logging in from a Linux 11.10 laptop to the same remote host over the same network and switch, this problem does not occur -- an xterm can be invoked successfully hours later from the same ssh login shell while the same experiment from the Mac fails (tested this morning to be sure), so it would appear to be a Mac-specific issue. With "LogLevel DEBUG3" set on the remote machine (sshd server), and no change made in the client connections by me, /var/log/auth.log shows one slight change in connection status reports overnight, which is the port number used by the one successful ssh session from the Linux machine (I think), connection #7 below: sshd[20173]: debug3: channel 7: status: The following connections are open:\r\n #0 server-session (t4 r0 i0/0 o0/0 fd 14/13 cfd -1)\r\n #3 X11 connection from 127.0.0.1 port 57564 (t4 r1 i0/0 o0/0 fd 16/16 cfd -1)\r\n #4 X11 connection from 127.0.0.1 port 57565 (t4 r2 i0/0 o0/0 fd 17/17 cfd -1)\r\n #5 X11 connection from 127.0.0.1 port 57566 (t4 r3 i0/0 o0/0 fd 18/18 cfd -1)\r\n #6 X11 connection from 127.0.0.1 port 57567 (t4 r4 i0/0 o0/0 fd 19/19 cfd -1)\r\n #7 X11 connection from 127.0.0.1 port 59007 In this report, everything is the same between status reports except the port number used by connection #7 which I believe is the Linux client -- the only one still maintaining a display connection. It continues to increment over time, judging by a sequence of these reports overnight. Thanks for any help, -Mike

  • How to get ISA 2006 Web Proxy to work with the Single Network Adapter template

    - by tronda
    I need to test an issue with running our application behind a proxy server with different type of configurations, so I installed ISA 2006 Enterprise on a desktop computer. Since this computer only has a single network card and I want to start out easy, I chose the "Single Network Adapter" template. We have a internal NAT'ed network which is in the 10 range. I have defined the internal network on the ISA server to be 10.XXX.YY.1 - 10.XXX.YY.255 I also have the Default rule which denies all traffic, but I've added the following Rule: Policy - Protocols - From - To Accept HTTP Internal External HTTPS Local Host Internal HTTS Server Localhost Then I configured Internet Explorer on a virutal machine running XP within virtualbox with Brigded network (gets same network address range as regular computers on our network) similar to this Instead of the server name I used the IP address. When I try to access a web page, this doesn't go through and I get the following log messages on the proxy server: Original Client IP Client Agent Authenticated Client Service Referring Server Destination Host Name Transport HTTP Method MIME Type Object Source Source Proxy Destination Proxy Bidirectional Client Host Name Filter Information Network Interface Raw IP Header Raw Payload GMT Log Time Source Port Processing Time Bytes Sent Bytes Received Cache Information Error Information Authentication Server Log Time Client IP Destination IP Destination Port Protocol Action Rule Result Code HTTP Status Code Client Username Source Network Destination Network URL Server Name Log Record Type 10.XXX.YY.174 - TCP - - - 24.08.2010 13:25:24 1080 0 0 0 0x0 0x0 - 24.08.2010 06:25:24 10.XXX.YY.174 10.XXX.YY.175 80 HTTP Initiated Connection MyHTTPAccess 0x0 ERROR_SUCCESS Internal Local Host - PROXYTEST Firewall 10.XXX.YY.175 - TCP - - - 24.08.2010 13:25:24 2275 0 0 0 0x0 0x0 - 24.08.2010 06:25:24 10.XXX.YY.175 10.XXX.YY.175 80 HTTP Initiated Connection 0x0 ERROR_SUCCESS Local Host Local Host - PROXYTEST Firewall 10.XXX.YY.175 - TCP - - - 24.08.2010 13:25:25 2275 0 0 0 0x0 0x0 - 24.08.2010 06:25:25 10.XXX.YY.175 10.XXX.YY.175 80 HTTP Closed Connection 0x80074e20 FWX_E_GRACEFUL_SHUTDOWN Local Host Local Host - PROXYTEST Firewall 10.XXX.YY.175 - TCP - - - 24.08.2010 13:25:25 2276 0 0 0 0x0 0x0 - 24.08.2010 06:25:25 10.XXX.YY.175 10.XXX.YY.175 80 HTTP Initiated Connection 0x0 ERROR_SUCCESS Local Host Local Host - PROXYTEST Firewall 10.XXX.YY.175 - TCP - - - 24.08.2010 13:25:26 2276 0 0 0 0x0 0x0 - 24.08.2010 06:25:26 10.XXX.YY.175 10.XXX.YY.175 80 HTTP Closed Connection 0x80074e20 FWX_E_GRACEFUL_SHUTDOWN Local Host Local Host - PROXYTEST Firewall 10.XXX.YY.175 - TCP - - - 24.08.2010 13:25:26 2277 0 0 0 0x0 0x0 - 24.08.2010 06:25:26 10.XXX.YY.175 10.XXX.YY.175 80 HTTP Initiated Connection 0x0 ERROR_SUCCESS Local Host Local Host - PROXYTEST Firewall 10.XXX.YY.159 - UDP - - - 24.08.2010 13:25:26 68 0 0 0 0x0 0x0 - 24.08.2010 06:25:26 10.XXX.YY.159 255.255.255.255 67 DHCP (request) Denied Connection [Enterprise] Default rule 0xc004000d FWX_E_POLICY_RULES_DENIED Internal Local Host - PROXYTEST Firewall 10.XXX.YY.166 - UDP - - - 24.08.2010 13:25:26 68 0 0 0 0x0 0x0 - 24.08.2010 06:25:26 10.XXX.YY.166 255.255.255.255 67 DHCP (request) Denied Connection [Enterprise] Default rule 0xc004000d FWX_E_POLICY_RULES_DENIED Internal Local Host - PROXYTEST Firewall 0.0.0.0 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729) Yes Proxy 10.XXX.YY.175 TCP GET Internet - - - Req ID: 096c76ae; Compression: client=No, server=No, compress rate=0% decompress rate=0% - - - 24.08.2010 13:25:27 0 2945 2581 446 0x0 0x40 24.08.2010 06:25:27 10.XXX.YY.174 10.XXX.YY.175 80 http Failed Connection Attempt MyHTTPAccess 10061 anonymous Internal Local Host http://www.vg.no/ PROXYTEST Web Proxy Filter 10.XXX.YY.175 - TCP - - - 24.08.2010 13:25:27 2277 0 0 0 0x0 0x0 - 24.08.2010 06:25:27 10.XXX.YY.175 10.XXX.YY.175 80 HTTP Closed Connection 0x80074e20 FWX_E_GRACEFUL_SHUTDOWN Local Host Local Host - PROXYTEST Firewall

  • SQL Server Configuration timeouts - and a workaround [SSIS]

    - by jamiet
    Ever since I started writing SSIS packages back in 2004 I have opted to store configurations in .dtsConfig (.i.e. XML) files rather than in a SQL Server table (aka SQL Server Configurations) however recently I inherited some packages that used SQL Server Configurations and thus had to immerse myself in their murky little world. To all the people that have ever gone onto the SSIS forum and asked questions about ambiguous behaviour of SQL Server Configurations I now say this... I feel your pain! The biggest problem I have had was in dealing with the change to the order in which configurations get applied that came about in SSIS 2008. Those changes are detailed on MSDN at SSIS Package Configurations however the pertinent bits are: As the utility loads and runs the package, events occur in the following order: The dtexec utility loads the package. The utility applies the configurations that were specified in the package at design time and in the order that is specified in the package. (The one exception to this is the Parent Package Variables configurations. The utility applies these configurations only once and later in the process.) The utility then applies any options that you specified on the command line. The utility then reloads the configurations that were specified in the package at design time and in the order specified in the package. (Again, the exception to this rule is the Parent Package Variables configurations). The utility uses any command-line options that were specified to reload the configurations. Therefore, different values might be reloaded from a different location. The utility applies the Parent Package Variable configurations. The utility runs the package. To understand how these steps differ from SSIS 2005 I recommend reading Doug Laudenschlager’s blog post Understand how SSIS package configurations are applied. The very nature of SQL Server Configurations means that the Connection String for the database holding the configuration values needs to be supplied from the command-line. Typically then the call to execute your package resembles this: dtexec /FILE Package.dtsx /SET "\Package.Connections[SSISConfigurations].Properties[ConnectionString]";"\"Data Source=SomeServer;Initial Catalog=SomeDB;Integrated Security=SSPI;\"", The problem then is that, as per the steps above, the package will (1) attempt to apply all configurations using the Connection String stored in the package for the "SSISConfigurations" Connection Manager before then (2) applying the Connection String from the command-line and then (3) apply the same configurations all over again. In the packages that I inherited that first attempt to apply the configurations would timeout (not unexpected); I had 8 SQL Server Configurations in the package and thus the package was waiting for 2 minutes until all the Configurations timed out (i.e. 15seconds per Configuration) - in a package that only executes for ~8seconds when it gets to do its actual work a delay of 2minutes was simply unacceptable. We had three options in how to deal with this: Get rid of the use of SQL Server configurations and use .dtsConfig files instead Edit the packages when they get deployed Change the timeout on the "SSISConfigurations" Connection Manager #1 was my preferred choice but, for reasons I explain below*, wasn't an option in this particular instance. #2 was discounted out of hand because it negates the point of using Configurations in the first place. This left us with #3 - change the timeout on the Connection Manager. This is done by going into the properties of the Connection Manager, opening the "All" tab and changing the Connect Timeout property to some suitable value (in the screenshot below I chose 2 seconds). This change meant that the attempts to apply the SQL Server configurations timed out in 16 seconds rather than two minutes; clearly this isn't an optimum solution but its certainly better than it was. So there you have it - if you are having problems with SQL Server configuration timeouts within SSIS try changing the timeout of the Connection Manager. Better still - don't bother using SQL Server Configuration in the first place. Even better - install RC0 of SQL Server 2012 to start leveraging SSIS parameters and leave the nasty old world of configurations behind you. @Jamiet * Basically, we are leveraging a SSIS execution/logging framework in which the client had invested a lot of resources and SQL Server Configurations are an integral part of that.

  • WebLogic Server JMS WLST Script – Who is Connected To My Server

    - by james.bayer
    Ever want to know who was connected to your WebLogic Server instance for troubleshooting?  An email exchange about this topic and JMS came up this week, and I’ve heard it come up once or twice before too.  Sometimes it’s interesting or helpful to know the list of JMS clients (IP Addresses, JMS Destinations, message counts) that are connected to a particular JMS server.  This can be helpful for troubleshooting.  Tom Barnes from the WebLogic Server JMS team provided some helpful advice: The JMS connection runtime mbean has “getHostAddress”, which returns the host address of the connecting client JVM as a string.  A connection runtime can contain session runtimes, which in turn can contain consumer runtimes.  The consumer runtime, in turn has a “getDestinationName” and “getMemberDestinationName”.  I think that this means you could write a WLST script, for example, to dump all consumers, their destinations, plus their parent session’s parent connection’s host addresses.    Note that the client runtime mbeans (connection, session, and consumer) won’t necessarily be hosted on the same JVM as a destination that’s in the same cluster (client messages route from their connection host to their ultimate destination in the same cluster). Writing the Script So armed with this information, I decided to take the challenge and see if I could write a WLST script to do this.  It’s always helpful to have the WebLogic Server MBean Reference handy for activities like this.  This one is focused on JMS Consumers and I only took a subset of the information available, but it could be modified easily to do Producers.  I haven’t tried this on a more complex environment, but it works in my simple sandbox case, so it should give you the general idea. # Better to use Secure Config File approach for login as shown here http://buttso.blogspot.com/2011/02/using-secure-config-files-with-weblogic.html connect('weblogic','welcome1','t3://localhost:7001')   # Navigate to the Server Runtime and get the Server Name serverRuntime() serverName = cmo.getName()   # Multiple JMS Servers could be hosted by a single WLS server cd('JMSRuntime/' + serverName + '.jms' ) jmsServers=cmo.getJMSServers()   # Find the list of all JMSServers for this server namesOfJMSServers = '' for jmsServer in jmsServers: namesOfJMSServers = jmsServer.getName() + ' '   # Count the number of connections jmsConnections=cmo.getConnections() print str(len(jmsConnections)) + ' JMS Connections found for ' + serverName + ' with JMSServers ' + namesOfJMSServers   # Recurse the MBean tree for each connection and pull out some information about consumers for jmsConnection in jmsConnections: try: print 'JMS Connection:' print ' Host Address = ' + jmsConnection.getHostAddress() print ' ClientID = ' + str( jmsConnection.getClientID() ) print ' Sessions Current = ' + str( jmsConnection.getSessionsCurrentCount() ) jmsSessions = jmsConnection.getSessions() for jmsSession in jmsSessions: jmsConsumers = jmsSession.getConsumers() for jmsConsumer in jmsConsumers: print ' Consumer:' print ' Name = ' + jmsConsumer.getName() print ' Messages Received = ' + str(jmsConsumer.getMessagesReceivedCount()) print ' Member Destination Name = ' + jmsConsumer.getMemberDestinationName() except: print 'Error retrieving JMS Consumer Information' dumpStack() # Cleanup disconnect() exit() Example Output I expect the output to look something like this and loop through all the connections, this is just the first one: 1 JMS Connections found for AdminServer with JMSServers myJMSServer JMS Connection:   Host Address = 127.0.0.1   ClientID = None   Sessions Current = 16    Consumer:      Name = consumer40      Messages Received = 1      Member Destination Name = myJMSModule!myQueue Notice that it has the IP Address of the client.  There are 16 Sessions open because I’m using an MDB, which defaults to 16 connections, so this matches what I expect.  Let’s see what the full output actually looks like: D:\Oracle\fmw11gr1ps3\user_projects\domains\offline_domain>java weblogic.WLST d:\temp\jms.py   Initializing WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST) ...   Welcome to WebLogic Server Administration Scripting Shell   Type help() for help on available commands   Connecting to t3://localhost:7001 with userid weblogic ... • Data Source Security Part 1

    - by Steve Felts
    I’ve written a couple of articles on how to store data source security credentials using the Oracle wallet.  I plan to write a few articles on the various types of security available to WebLogic Server (WLS) data sources.  There are more options than you might think! There have been several enhancements in this area in WLS 10.3.6.  There are a couple of more enhancements planned for release WLS 12.1.2 that I will include here for completeness.  This isn’t intended as a teaser.  If you call your Oracle support person, you can get them now as minor patches to WLS 10.3.6.   The current security documentation is scattered in a few places, has a few incorrect statements, and is missing a few topics.  It also seems that the knowledge of how to apply some of these features isn’t written down.  The goal of these articles is to talk about WLS data source security in a unified way and to introduce some approaches to using the available features.  Introduction to WebLogic Data Source Security Options By default, you define a single database user and password for a data source.  You can store it in the data source descriptor or make use of the Oracle wallet.  This is a very simple and efficient approach to security.  All of the connections in the connection pool are owned by this user and there is no special processing when a connection is given out.  That is, it’s a homogeneous connection pool and any request can get any connection from a security perspective (there are other aspects like affinity).  Regardless of the end user of the application, all connections in the pool use the same security credentials to access the DBMS.   No additional information is needed when you get a connection because it’s all available from the data source descriptor (or wallet). java.sql.Connection conn =  mydatasource.getConnection(); Note: You can enter the password as a name-value pair in the Properties field (this not permitted for production environments) or you can enter it in the Password field of the data source descriptor. The value in the Password field overrides any password value defined in the Properties passed to the JDBC Driver when creating physical database connections. It is recommended that you use the Password attribute in place of the password property in the properties string because the Password value is encrypted in the configuration file (stored as the password-encrypted attribute in the jdbc-driver-params tag in the module file) and is hidden in the administration console.  The Properties and Password fields are located on the administration console Data Source creation wizard or Data Source Configuration tab. The JDBC API can also be used to programmatically specify a database user name and password as in the following.  java.sql.Connection conn = mydatasource.getConnection(“user”, “password”); According to the JDBC specification, it’s supposed to take a database user and associated password but different vendors implement this differently.  WLS, by default, treats this as an application server user and password.  The pair is authenticated to see if it’s a valid user and that user is used for WLS security permission checks.  By default, the user is then mapped to a database user and password using the data source credential mapper, so this API sort of follows the specification but database credentials are one-step removed from the application code.  More details and the rationale are described later. While the default approach is simple, it does mean that only one database user is doing all of the work.  You can’t figure out who actually did the update and you can’t restrict SQL operations by who is running the operation, at least at the database level.   Any type of per-user logic will need to be in the application code instead of having the database do it.  There are various WLS data source features that can be configured to provide some per-user information about the operations to the database. WebLogic Data Source Security Options This table describes the features available for WebLogic data sources to configure database security credentials and a brief description.  It also captures information about the compatibility of these features with one another. Feature Description Can be used with Can’t be used with User authentication (default) Default getConnection(user, password) behavior – validate the input and use the user/password in the descriptor. Set client identifier Proxy Session, Identity pooling, Use database credentials Use database credentials Instead of using the credential mapper, use the supplied user and password directly. Set client identifier, Proxy session, Identity pooling User authentication, Multi Data Source Set Client Identifier Set a client identifier property associated with the connection (Oracle and DB2 only). Everything Proxy Session Set a light-weight proxy user associated with the connection (Oracle-only). Set client identifier, Use database credentials Identity pooling, User authentication Identity pooling Heterogeneous pool of connections owned by specified users. Set client identifier, Use database credentials Proxy session, User authentication, Labeling, Multi-datasource, Active GridLink Note that all of these features are available with both XA and non-XA drivers. Currently, the Proxy Session and Use Database Credentials options are on the Oracle tab of the Data Source Configuration tab of the administration console (even though the Use Database Credentials feature is not just for Oracle databases – oops).  The rest of the features are on the Identity tab of the Data Source Configuration tab in the administration console (plan on seeing them all in one place in the future). The subsequent articles will describe these features in more detail.  Keep referring back to this table to see the big picture.

  • Oracle JDBC connection exception in Solaris but not Windows?

    - by lupefiasco
    I have some Java code that connects to an Oracle database using DriverManager.getConnection(). It works just fine on my Windows XP machine. However, when running the same code on a Solaris machine, I get the following exception. Both machines can reach the database machine on the network. I have included the Oracle trace logs. Any ideas on why the behavior is different in the different environments?

  • Two NIC's 2 Internet Connections, 1 Windows Server 2008 RC2, Routing help required

    - by PJZ
    Hello, I have a Windows 2008 server and 4 other client machines on my home network. I have two internet connections. The main connection is setup with a home router and DHCP on that for all the clients on the network. The secondary connection is just a cable modem which is plugged directly into the server. Local Area Connection: This NIC has an external IP and is connected to the Cable Modem. Local Area Connection 2: This NIC has an internal IP (192.168.0.102) and allows access to all the internal computers. It also has internet access via the local router. So here lies the problem, I want to use the Cable connection on the server for the internet traffic (so that the traffic for server/clients are seperated) but I also need to maintain local access. I am wondering how to make it so that all the internet traffic goes via that NIC because at the moment it goes through the local NIC. As a secondary problem I would also like to forward the connection of one application used by the clients via the server and the cable/server internet because of poor routing for it on the main connection. This perhaps is something for another question though. Thanks for any help you can offer me. Regards PJ

  • Which internet scenario would be better?

    - by JL
    I currently have an 8mbps (down) / 512kbps (up) telephone ADSL solution. I must say the reliability is excellent, and up until now its been the fastest connection I could get because I don't live in a cable zone. The real speed of my connection is around 7mbps, but sometimes I manage to get the full 8mbps. I use my connection for work, so it needs to be at least 99% reliable. Recently I was told by a guy who lives up the road that he has a wireless connection with an external antenna and his speeds are 20mbps / 512kbps - he's also paying about 1/2 of what I pay for my wired telephone connection. My question is, is wireless internet good enough for a power user who uses his connection for work 8 hours a day, including VPNing into servers remotely. Besides this I also enjoy playing the odd network game, not a WoW freak, but sometimes I do pick up the odd MMORPG and at times do indulge in some semi heavy gaming sprees. Will this wireless latency drive me crazy and seem slow in comparison? Will it be reliable enough, I also live in an area that snows heavily in winter. I guess its a question of - should I go wireless or not. I've only had 1 wireless connection before and that was years ago using iBurst technology and I remember it was terrible for VPN, but I guess the technology might have been improved since then? What do you guys think?

  • .Net: What is your confident approach in "Catch" section of try-catch block, When developing CRUD op

    - by odiseh
    hi, I was wondering if there would be any confident approach for use in catch section of try-catch block when developing CRUD operations(specially when you use a Database as your data source) in .Net? well, what's your opinion about below lines? public int Insert(string name, Int32 employeeID, string createDate) { SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(); connection.ConnectionString = this._ConnectionString; try { SqlCommand command = connection.CreateCommand(); command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; command.CommandText = "UnitInsert"; if (connection.State != ConnectionState.Open) connection.Open(); SqlCommandBuilder.DeriveParameters(command); command.Parameters["@Name"].Value = name; command.Parameters["@EmployeeID"].Value = employeeID; command.Parameters["@CreateDate"].Value = createDate; int i = command.ExecuteNonQuery(); command.Dispose(); return i; } catch { **// how do you "catch" any possible error here?** return 0; // } finally { connection.Close(); connection.Dispose(); connection = null; } }

  • Why does ActiveMQ hold messages that should be deleted from Topic?

    - by rauch
    I use ActiveMQ as Notification System(Pub/Sub model). On server: if any changes of data occur, Server send this updated data (File) to Topic using BlobMessages. There are few Clients, that subscribe on this Topic and get updated File if it exsist in Topic. The problem is that all of BlobMessages, that were sent to Topic, are hold by ActiveMQ all time. this.producer = new ProducerTool.Builder("tcp://localhost:61616?jms.blobTransferPolicy.uploadUrl=http://localhost:8161/fileserver/", "ServerProdTopic").topic(true) .transacted(false).durable(false).timeToLive(10000L).build(); this.consumer = new ConsumerTool.Builder("tcp://localhost:61616", "ServerConsTopic").topic(true) .transacted(false).durable(false).build(); consumer.setMessageListener(this); The File is sent: connection = createConnection(); session = createSession(connection); producer = createProducer(session); BlobMessage blobMsg = ((ActiveMQSession) session).createBlobMessage(resource); blobMsg.setStringProperty("sourceName", resource.getName()); producer.send(blobMsg); if (transacted) { System.out.println("Producer Committing..."); session.commit(); } Where createProducer is: protected Connection createConnection() throws JMSException, Exception { ActiveMQConnectionFactory connectionFactory = new ActiveMQConnectionFactory(url); //connectionFactory.getBlobTransferPolicy().setUploadUrl("http://localhost:8161/fileserver/"); Connection connection = connectionFactory.createConnection(); connection.start(); ((ActiveMQConnection) connection).setCopyMessageOnSend(false); return connection; } All, that could be useful I set as need: Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE; Non-Durable Subscription; TimeToLive = 9000; JMSDeliveryMode = Non-Persistent; What I have at runtime: in ActiveMQ directory: ~/apache-activemq-5.3.0/webapps/fileserver/ tere are all File, that where delivered and not delivered to Subscribers. Why? Sometimes Server send Big Files about 1 GB....And even this Files are hold at that directory, Even after stopping Subscribers(Clients), Publisher(Server) and ActiveMQ Broker.
