  • Android how to create notification that resumes activity

    - by Adam Praiswater
    I a have a notification in a receiver that fires off fine, but it restarts the activity (thus clearing the edittexts and resetting the toggle button) How can i set it so that when its tapped on it resumes the activity rather that clearing and resetting everything? My current code doesnt work. Current Code String currentDateTimeString = DateFormat.getDateTimeInstance().format(new Date()); Intent intenti= new Intent(context, Locator.class); intenti.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK | Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_SINGLE_TOP); PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, intenti, 0); NotificationCompat.Builder mBuilder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(context) .setSmallIcon(R.drawable.xxxxxxnotifyicon) .setContentTitle("xxxxxxx Link") .setContentText("Auto Check In Complete at " + currentDateTimeString); mBuilder.setContentIntent(contentIntent); mBuilder.setDefaults(Notification.DEFAULT_SOUND); mBuilder.setAutoCancel(true); NotificationManager mNotificationManager = (NotificationManager) context.getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE); mNotificationManager.notify(1, mBuilder.build());

I discovered that many programmer got same bug, so i tried a lot of suggestion but no way works for me. So tired. One more time, read my source and help me understand why i fail with updating view pleaseee! Here is my FragmentAdapter: private class SwipeyTabsPagerAdapter extends FragmentPagerAdapter implements SwipeyTabsAdapter { private final Context mContext; private String[] datas; public SwipeyTabsPagerAdapter(Context context, FragmentManager fm, String[] ds) { super(fm); this.mContext = context; datas=ds; } @Override public int getItemPosition(Object object) { return POSITION_NONE; } @Override public Fragment getItem(int position) { Log.e("new item:", datas[position]); return SwipeyTabFragment.newInstance(datas[position]); } @Override public int getCount() { return datas.length; } public TextView getTab(final int position, SwipeyTabs root) { TextView view = (TextView) LayoutInflater.from(mContext).inflate( R.layout.swipey_tab_indicator, root, false); view.setText(datas[position]); view.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { mViewPager.setCurrentItem(position); } }); return view; } } and here is where i set adapter: SwipeyTabsPagerAdapter adapter = new SwipeyTabsPagerAdapter(getApplicationContext(), getSupportFragmentManager(),dicts); mViewPager.setAdapter(adapter); mTabs.setAdapter(adapter); mViewPager.getAdapter().notifyDataSetChanged(); By logcat, can see clearly that: only first time, newItem be processed, so view can not be update.

  • Style first 2 TextViews in Android ListView differently

    - by Kurtis Nusbaum
    I have a ListView and I want the first two entries in it to be displayed differently than the rest. Nothing fancy, I want them all to just be text views. But the first two entries need to have different sizes and weights than the rest. I tried modifying the ArrayAdapter class like so: private class BusStopAdapter<T> extends ArrayAdapter<T>{ public BusStopAdapter( Context context, int textViewResourceId, List<T> objects) { super(context, textViewResourceId, objects); } public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { TextView toReturn = (TextView)super.getView(position, convertView, parent); if(position == 0){ toReturn.setTextSize(12); toReturn.setText("Previous Bus: " + toReturn.getText()); toReturn.setPadding(0,0,0,0); } else if(position == 1){ toReturn.setTextSize(20); toReturn.setPadding( toReturn.getPaddingLeft(), 0, toReturn.getPaddingRight(), 0 ); toReturn.setText("Next Bus: " + toReturn.getText()); toReturn.setGravity(Gravity.CENTER_HORIZONTAL|Gravity.TOP); } return toReturn; } } But this inadvertantly causes some of the other textviews to take on these special attributes. I think it's because cause textviews get "recycled" in the AbsListAdapter class.

  • Getting error using ContactManager Sample

    - by OceanBlue
    I have created some contacts data in the emulator. When I run the ContactManager sample app downloaded from the Android site, I get an error. Specifically, when trying to add a Contact through the app, I get a NullPointerException. I think it is because the "Target Accounts" spinner on the scree is not getting populated, and hence I cannot select a Target Account before adding a contact. Has anyone run across this problem or has any clues on how to fix this?

  • Android return to the original position of the view after MotionEvent

    - by Kurty
    My application currently changes to another random int (View) when I let go of it (ACTION_UP) but the view stays in the same spot where I dropped it. I want it to return to the original location (the middle of the screen) when I drop it so I can repeat the process. // OnTouch and MotionEvent OnTouchListener dragt = new OnTouchListener() { public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent me) { FrameLayout.LayoutParams par = (FrameLayout.LayoutParams) v.getLayoutParams(); switch (v.getId()) { case R.id.randomView: } switch(me.getAction()) { case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE: par.gravity = 0; par.setMargins((int)me.getRawX() - (v.getWidth())/2, (int)me.getRawY() - (v.getHeight())/2, 0, 0); v.setLayoutParams(par); break; case MotionEvent.ACTION_UP: // tallies score. score++; textScore.setText(String.valueOf(score)); // this generates the new view but the location is still the same color.setImageResource(mImageIds[rgenerator.nextInt(mImageIds.length)]); break; } return true; } };

  • Android: heavy traffic on server causes app to force close

    - by user522559
    I have developed an app to communicate with my own server and published it. However, sometimes the app force closes. I know there is no bug in the code because the app works properly most of the time, but sometimes it is waiting for an answer from the server forever. I think this is due to the fact that so many people are using the app, and the app refreshes every 1 second or so, so this heavy traffic causes the server to take a large amount of time to respond. So how do you take care of such a use case? should I have a use case where if the server does not respond after some time you just stop the app and throw a message saying that the server is not responding or something like that?

  • Android: make a scrollable custom view

    - by Martyn
    Hey, I've rolled my own custom view and can draw to the screen alright, but what I'd really like to do is set the measuredHeigh of the screen to, say, 1000px and let the user scroll on the Y axis, but I'm having problems doing this. Can anyone help? Here's some code: public class TestScreen extends Activity { CustomDrawableView mCustomDrawableView; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); mCustomDrawableView = new CustomDrawableView(this); setContentView(mCustomDrawableView); } } and public class CustomDrawableView extends View { public CustomDrawableView(Context context) { super(context); setVerticalScrollBarEnabled(true); setMinimumHeight(1000); } @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { canvas.drawLine(...); // more drawing } } I've tried to override scrollTo, scrollBy, awakenScrollBars etc with a call to super but to no avail. Am I missing something silly, or am I making some fundamental mistake? Thank you in advance, Martyn

Even if I take the preExecute and do that on the doInBrackground, it still crashes. What's wrong?

  • Android: Capturing the return of an activity.

    - by Chrispix
    I have a question regarding launching new activities. It boils down to this. I have 3 tabs on a view A) contains gMap activity B) camera activity C) some random text fields. Requirement is that the application runs in Portrait mode. All 3 tabs work as expected w/ the exception of the Camera Preview Surface (B). It is rotated 90 degrees. They only way to make it correct is to set the app to landscape which throws all my tabs around, and is pretty much unworkable. My solution is this : replace my camera activity with a regular activity that is empty w/ the exception of Intent i = new Intent(this,CameraActivity.class); startActivity(i); This launches my CameraActivity. And that works fine. I had to do a linear layout and include 3 images that look like real tabs, so I can try and mimic the operation of the tabs while rotating the screen to landscape and keep the visuals as portrait. The user can click one of the images(buttons) to display the next tab. This is my issue. It should exit my 'camera activity' returning to the 'blank activity' in a tab, where it should be interpreted to click the desiered tab from my image. The main thing is, when it returns, it returns to a blank (black) page under a tab (because it is 'empty'). How can I capture the return event back to the page that called the activity, and then see what action they performed? I can set an onclicklistener where I can respond to the fake tabs (images) being clicked to exit out of the camera activity. On exit, the tab should update so that is where you return. any Suggestions? Thanks,

  • Android Add Icon to homescreen to set member variable in broadcast receiver

    - by JonF
    I would like to add some sort of icon that a user can press in order to flip a variable in a broadcast receiver my app uses. Basically I just can a icon that they can press which will flip the value of a boolean in the broadcast receiver, and change the icon to indicate something happened. I think I need to do something with a widget? Could anyone point me in the direction of some tutorial I could check out?

  • How to write an intersects for Shapes in android

    - by Rafael T
    I have an written an Object called Shape which has a Point representing the topLeftCorner and a Dimension with represents its width and height. To get the topRightCorner I can simply add the width to the topLeftPoint.x. I use to rotate them on a certain degree around their center. The problem after the rotation is, that my intersects(Shape) method fails, because it does not honor the rotation of the Shapes. The rotation will be the same for each Shape. My current implementation looks like this inside my Shape Object: public boolean intersects(Shape s){ // functions returning a Point of shape s return intersects(s.topLeft()) || intersects(s.topRight()) || intersects(s.bottomLeft()) || intersects(s.bottomRight()) || intersects(s.leftCenter()) || intersects(s.rightCenter()) || intersects(s.center()); } public boolean intersects(Point p){ return p.x >= leftX() && p.x <= rightX() && p.y >= topY() && p.y <= bottomY(); } Basically I need functions like rotatedLeftX() or rotatedTopRight() to work properly. Also for that calculation I think it doesn't matter when the topLeft point before a rotation of ie 90 will turn into topRight... I already read this and this Question here, but do not understand it fully.

  • android playback suddenly stopping...

    - by user306517
    I have an app that is streaming audio content and sometimes it just stops all of the suddent. the logcat windows shows -- AudioHardware pcm playback is going to standby and that's it. I saw on another thread (pun intended) that someone was saying it was because he was using too many threads. Could that really be causing this? Could i give the audio thread higher priority? Anyway to prevent the audio hardware pcm from going to standby?

  • Can FLV AAC stream be played in Android

    - by HariKJ
    Hi, I'm trying to build a radio player and the client is providing a stream which is a FLV container with the audio being AAC When I read the headers it shows up as audio/aacp. I have tried all possible ways such as using the 1) Streaming through mediaplayer (Does not work) 2) Use the NPR mode of using a proxy stream (I get a broken pipe exception) 3) Play it in chunks ( Plays but I need the SDCard and the playback is not very great) 4) Use the GPL'd FAAD2 Library but I would have to pay the royalty fee Can some one help me out on figuring this issue out. The last option that I have is to have my client change the stream to mp3 container (which I know that it works) Regards, Hari

  • Writing Resources from filesystem in Android

    - by Markus
    Hi, as I need to get a specific Frame from a Website I want to display in an WebView, I decided to grab the .html from the net and save it under file:///data/data//files/file.html. Stroed there I can edit it using regex or String methods. Now two questions: Is there a way to bind this file to an resource. e.g. to /res/raw/file.html and get it updated dynamically as i edit it? Or can i write the File directly to the resources? Is this whole stuff I do there any good or performant at all? I mean maybe there is a better way to get the .html code between two tags from a Webpage and display it via WebView. Kind regards Markus
