  • How to properly assign a value to the member of a struct that has a class data type?

    Hi, Please kindly see below for the codes. Its compiling successfully but the expected result is not working. Im very confused because my initialization of the array is valid, //cbar.h class CBar { public: class CFoo { public: CFoo( int v ) : m_val = v {} int GetVal() { return m_val; } private: int m_val; }; public: static const CFoo foo1; static const CFoo foo2; public: CBar( CFoo foo ) m_barval( foo.GetVal() ){} int GetFooVal() { return m_barval; } private: int m_barval; }; //cbar.cpp const CBar::CFoo foo1 = CBar::CFoo(2); const CBar::CFoo foo2 = CBar::CFoo(3); //main.cpp struct St { CBar::CFoo foo; }; St st[] = { CBar::foo1, CBar::foo2 }; for( int i=0; i<sizeof(st)/sizeof(St); i++ ) { CBar cbar( st[i].foo ); std::cout << cbar.GetFooVal() << std::endl; } But then when I change the St::foo to a pointer. And like assign the address of CBar::foo1 or CBar::foo2, its working, like this, //main.cpp struct St { const CBar::CFoo *foo; }; St st[] = { &CBar::foo1, &CBar::foo2 }; for( int i=0; i<sizeof(st)/sizeof(St); i++ ) { CBar cbar( *st[i].foo ); std::cout << cbar.GetFooVal() << std::endl; } The real problem is.   • Implementing a server side push for a small number of clients

    For an web application I am working on I have the following requirements: Clients need to be able to log in via a web brower. After logging in, they will be able to change configurations (normal request/response) will be able to receive alarms sent by the server (a server side push) Now, the question is how to implement the alarms. I first thought of using some long polling approach (Comet), but as the amount of clients will definitely belimited to 5-10, I'm now thinking to go with a simpler approach. What are the options I have? Would it be okay to just let the clients poll the server? Important aspects are: Alarms should be delivered in (nearly) real-time. Alarms must not get lost (a lost alarm could cause harm to real people).

    I'm working on a python program for homework and the problem asks me to develop a program that encrypts a message using a caesar cipher. I need to be able to have the user input a number to shift the encryption by, such as 4: e.g. 'A' to 'E'. The user also needs to input the string to be translated. The book says to use a zip() to do the problem. I am confused on how I would do this though.   • how can JIRA soap API not have this method?

    I want to be able to get a list of issues given a: Project Name and Release Version this seems like a basic JIRA soap API 101 request It seems, looking at the documentation: http://docs.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/api/rpc-jira-plugin/latest/index.html?com/atlassian/jira/rpc/soap/JiraSoapService.html you can get issues by: Filter SearchTerms SearchTerms and Project but not the above. Is this a complete oversight or i am missing something i would expect to see something like this: RemoteIssue[] issues = _soapService.getIssues(string project_, string version_) any help? UPDATE: I see that JIRA 4.0 is out but i can't find any documentation if the API has changed to support this request above. Can anyone find this link to answer that questions.

  • C++ static virtual members?

    Is it possible in C++ to have a member function that is both static and virtual? Apperantly, there isn't a straight-forward way to do it (static virtual member(); is a complie error), but at least a way to acheive the same effect? I.E: struct Object { struct TypeInformation; static virtual const TypeInformation &GetTypeInformation() const; }; struct SomeObject : public Object { static virtual const TypeInformation &GetTypeInformation() const; }; It makes sence to use GetTypeInformation() both on an instance (object->GetTypeInformation()) and on a class (SomeObject::GetTypeInformation()), which can be useful for comparsions and vital for templates. The only ways I can think of involves writing two functions / a function and a constant, per class, or use macros. Any other solutions?

  • Is there a way to make this C# method shorter and more readable with the help of Linq?

    The following works, but I figured - since it is all based on IEnumerable, Linq can come handy here is well. By the way, is there an equivalent to Directory.GetFiles() which would return an IEnumerable instead of the array? If it exists, then would it make the code run any faster?   • Python: Calling method A from class A within class B?

    There are a number of questions that are similar to this, but none of the answers hits the spot - so please bear with me. I am trying my hardest to learn OOP using Python, but i keep running into errors (like this one) which just make me think this is all pointless and it would be easier to just use methods. Here is my code: class TheGUI(wx.Frame): def __init__(self, title, size): wx.Frame.__init__(self, None, 1, title, size=size) # The GUI is made ... textbox.TextCtrl(panel1, 1, pos=(67,7), size=(150, 20)) button1.Bind(wx.EVT_BUTTON, self.button1Click) self.Show(True) def button1Click(self, event): #It needs to do the LoadThread function! class WebParser: def LoadThread(self, thread_id): #It needs to get the contents of textbox! TheGUI = TheGUI("Text RPG", (500,500)) TheParser = WebParser TheApp.MainLoop() So the problem i am having is that the GUI class needs to use a function that is in the WebParser class, and the WebParser class needs to get text from a textbox that exists in the GUI class. I know i could do this by passing the objects around as parameters, but that seems utterly pointless, there must be a more logical way to do this that doesn't using classes seem so pointless? For sake of simplication for this post, the count is not static, but it does not change anything.

  • Question about the String.replaceAll() and String.replaceFirst() method.

    I need to do a simple string replace operation on a segment of string. I ran into the following issue and hope to get some advice. In the original string I got, I can replace the string such as to something else. BUT, in the same original string, if I want to replace a much long string such as the following, it won’t work. Nothing gets replaced after the call. <div class="more"><a href="http://SERVER_name/profiles/atom/mv/theboard/entries/related.do?email=xyz.com&ps=20&since=1273518953218&sinceEntryId=abc-def-123-456">More...</a></div> I tried these two methods: originalString.replaceFirst(moreTag, newContent); originalString.replaceAll(moreTag, newContent); Thanks in advance.

  • What is the most efficient method to find x contiguous values of y in an array?

    Running my app through callgrind revealed that this line dwarfed everything else by a factor of about 10,000. I'm probably going to redesign around it, but it got me wondering; Is there a better way to do it? Here's what I'm doing at the moment: int i = 1; while ( ( (*(buffer++) == 0xffffffff && ++i) || (i = 1) ) && i < desiredLength + 1 && buffer < bufferEnd ); It's looking for the offset of the first chunk of desiredLength 0xffffffff values in a 32 bit unsigned int array. It's significantly faster than any implementations I could come up with involving an inner loop. But it's still too damn slow.
