  • Gui problem after rewriting to MVC

    - by trevor_nise
    I'm practicing MVC style programming. I have a Mastermind game in a single file, working with no problems (maybe apart of the fact that "Check" button is invisible at start). http://paste.pocoo.org/show/226726/ But when I've rewritten it to model, view, controller files - when I click on empty Pin (that should be updated, and repainted with new color) - noting happens. Can anybody see any problems here ? I've tried placing repaint() in different places, but it simply does not work at all :/ Main : public class Main { public static void main(String[] args){ Model model = new Model(); View view = new View("Mastermind", 400, 590, model); Controller controller = new Controller(model, view); view.setVisible(true); } } Model : import java.util.Random; public class Model{ static final int LINE = 5, SCORE = 10, OPTIONS = 20; Pin pins[][] = new Pin[21][LINE]; • How do I select an item out of a JavaScript array when I only know a value for one of the item's pro

    - by minus4
    I have the following JavaScript object: { "DPI": "66.8213457076566", "width": "563.341067", "editable": "True", "pricecat": "6", "numpages": "2", "height": "400", "page": [{ "filename": "999_9_1.jpg", "line": [{ "test": "test 1", lineid: 22 }, { "test": "test 2", lineid: 22 }, { "test": "test 3", lineid: 22 }, { "test": "test 4", lineid: 22 }, { "test": "blank", lineid: 22 }] }, { "filename": "999_9_2.jpg", "line": [] }] } I can do most things with lines like measurements.page[0].line[0].lineid; But what I am really stuck with is when I want to edit a specific line but I only have the lineid value available (for example 22) and not the line number in the array: measurements.page[0].line[WHAT DO I PUT HERE].test = "new changed value";

  • Write a file in UTF-8 using FileWriter (Java)?

    - by user1280970
    I have the following code however, I want it to write as a UTF-8 file to handle foreign characters. Is there a way of doing this, is there some need to have a parameter? I would really appreciate your help with this. Thanks. try { BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("C:/Users/Jess/My Documents/actresses.list")); writer = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter("C:/Users/Jess/My Documents/actressesFormatted.csv")); while( (line = reader.readLine()) != null) { //If the line starts with a tab then we just want to add a movie //using the current actor's name. if(line.length() == 0) continue; else if(line.charAt(0) == '\t') { readMovieLine2(0, line, surname.toString(), forename.toString()); } //Else we've reached a new actor else { readActorName(line); } } } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } }

  • How to Practically Split Values from CSV File into MySQL Database

    - by Ryan
    Let's suppose I have the following line in a CSV file (I removed the header row in this example): "500,000",2,50,2,90000 I have a PHP script read the CSV file, break the file into individual lines, and store each line in an array called $linearray. Then, I use a foreach loop to look at each line individually. Within the foreach loop, I break the line into separate variables using the following function: $line = str_replace("'","\'",$line); From here, I insert the values into separate columns within a MySQL database. The script works. The values are inserted into a database, but I run into a problem. I want: "500,000" | 2 | 50 | 2 | 90000 But I get this: "500 | 000" | 2 | 50 | 2 | 90000 The script isn't smart enough to understand it should skip commas within quotation marks. Do you know how I can alter my script to make sure I get the output I'm looking for? Thanks.

  • Cnoverting application to MVC architecture

    - by terence6
    I'm practicing writing MVC applications. I have a Mastermind game, that I would like to rewrite as MVC app. I have divided my code to parts, but instead of working game I'm getting empty Frame and an error in "public void paint( Graphics g )". Error comes from calling this method in my view with null argument. But how to overcome this ? MVC was quite simple with swing but awt and it's paint methods are much more complicated. Code of working app : http://paste.pocoo.org/show/224982/ App divided to MVC : Main : public class Main { public static void main(String[] args){ Model model = new Model(); View view = new View("Mastermind", 400, 590, model); Controller controller = new Controller(model, view); view.setVisible(true); } } Controller : import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class Controller implements MouseListener, ActionListener { private Model model; • C++ How do I properly use getline for ifstream members.

    - by John
    Ok so I have a problem with getline. I have a file that contains a couple strings. I created it by myself and I have each string on a seperate line. Ex. textfile.txt Line 1 Line 2 Line 3 Line 4 //Little snip of code ifstream inFile("textfile.txt"); getline(inFile, string1); When I debug the program and ask it to print out string1 it shows that "Line 1\r" is saved into string1. I understand that it's from me actually hitting enter when I created the file. This problem causes my program to have a segmentation fault. I know my code works because if I use ofstream to write the file first and then i read it in, it works. So for my quesiton, is their anyway to use the getline function without it picking up the escape sequence \r? If i am not clear just let me know.

  • importing modules in app engine

    - by tanky
    Ive asked this before, but it seems i wasnt clear/detailed enough and after a week of trying im still struggling so i will try again. i am trying to use, oauth2 and ply on app engine. i have tried copying their directories into my app engine project directory (in the form ply-3.4 or brosner-python-oauth2-82a05f9) and i have tried copying the specific sub directory contained within the aforemention one. (ply or oauth2) i have tried saying import oauth2, from brosner-oauth2_python-82a05f9 import oauth and other variations on the theme, but i still cant get it to work nothing has worked. i have tried including them in app.yaml, but that seemed to create an even bigger error as my entire project wouldnt even run when i tried that. and now i have run out of things to try. the error log i am getting is as follows. • Parsing a text file with a fixed format in Java

    - by EugeneP
    Suppose I know a text file format, say, each line contains 4 fields like this: firstword secondword thirdword fourthword firstword2 secondword2 thirdword2 fourthword2 ... and I need to read it fully into memory I can use this approach: open a text file while not EOF read line by line split each line by a space create a new object with four fields extracted from each line add this object to a Set Ok, but is there anything better, a special 3-rd party Java library? So that we could define the structure of each text line beforehand and parse the file with some function thirdpartylib.setInputTextFileFormat("format.xml"); thirdpartylib.parse(Set, "pathToFile") ?

  • Java file searching problem

    - by Infinity
    Hello guys! I need to search a file for a word and return the whole line and the line number with this word, then edit the line and write back to the file. Maybe the line number isn't necesary to edit a line in a file. I `was reading after seraching with regexp and opening the filechannel of the file, but I can't get the line number. Maybe there are other better ways to do this. Can you help me how to start this?

  • Converting application to MVC architecture

    - by terence6
    I'm practicing writing MVC applications. I have a Mastermind game, that I would like to rewrite as MVC app. I have divided my code to parts, but instead of working game I'm getting empty Frame and an error in "public void paint( Graphics g )". Error comes from calling this method in my view with null argument. But how to overcome this ? MVC was quite simple with swing but awt and it's paint methods are much more complicated. Code of working app : http://paste.pocoo.org/show/224982/ App divided to MVC : Main : public class Main { public static void main(String[] args){ Model model = new Model(); View view = new View("Mastermind", 400, 590, model); • dynamic access magic constants in php

    - by Radu
    Hello, Is there a way to shortcut this: function a($where){ echo $where; } function b(){ a(basename(__FILE__).'::'.__FUNCTION__.'()::'.__LINE__); } to something like this: define("__myLocation__", ''.basename(__FILE__).'::'.__FUNCTION__.'()::'.__LINE__.''); function a($where){ echo $where; } function b(){ a(__mYLocation_); } I know that this cannot be done with constants (is just an theoretical example), but I can't find a way to shorthen my code. If a use a function to get my line it will get the line where that function is not the line from where the function was called. I usualy call a function that prints directly to the log file, but in my log I need to know from where the function was called, so i use basename(__FILE__).'::'.__FUNCTION__.'()::'.__LINE__ this will print something like: index.php::b()::6 It is a lot of code when you have over 500 functions in different files. Is there a shorten or better way to do this? Thank you.

  • Sympy python circumference

    I need to display a circumference. In order to do that I thought I could calculata for a lot of x the two values of y, so I did: import sympy as sy from sympy.abc import x,y f = x**2 + y**2 - 1 a = x - 0.5 sy.solve([f,a],[x,y]) and this is what I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<input>", line 1, in <module> File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/sympy/solvers/solvers.py", line 484, in solve solution = _solve(f, *symbols, **flags) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/sympy/solvers/solvers.py", line 749, in _solve result = solve_poly_system(polys) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/sympy/solvers/polysys.py", line 40, in solve_poly_system return solve_biquadratic(f, g, opt) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/sympy/solvers/polysys.py", line 48, in solve_biquadratic G = groebner([f, g]) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/sympy/polys/polytools.py", line 5308, i n groebner raise DomainError("can't compute a Groebner basis over %s" % domain) DomainError: can't compute a Groebner basis over RR How can I calculate the y's values ?

  • C Array of string

    - by Meko
    HI. This is maybe simple question but I want to create two dimensional array and add it string like in java string str = "text" ; string [][] array = new [][] string ; array[i][j] = str ; But in C there is no string .I tried like this but here strcpy() gives error.It returns to assembly code. I am trying to read line by line from text and split line by space and add them to structure.But first I think that I must add each line and row in array and then making iteration and adding to structures fields. static const char filename[] = "student.txt"; FILE *file = fopen ( filename, "r" ); char line [ 128 ]; /* or other suitable maximum line size */ char delims [ ]=" "; char *result =NULL; char list[15]; char arra[128][128]; int i=0; int j=0; struct { char gruppa[10]; char familiya[20]; int uchaste; struct { int firsth; int second; int third; int fourht; int fifth; } exam; }student; for(i=0; i<128; i++) for(j=0; j<128; j++) arra[i][j] = '\0'; for(i=0; i<15; i++) list[i] = '\0'; if ( file != NULL ) { while ( fgets ( line, sizeof line, file ) != NULL ) { result = strtok(line,delims); while (result !=NULL) { strcpy(list,("%s",result)); strcpy(arra[i][j],list); // Here it gives errror j++; result = strtok(NULL,delims); } j=0; i++; } fclose ( file ); } else { perror ( filename ); } getchar(); return 0; }

  • strcat() won't exit

    - by Tristan Sebens
    I'm trying to implement a very basic server in C, one part of which is constructing HTTP headers. To do this I have written a class called header_builder, which basically constructs the headers for me. One of the most basic methods of this class is append_header_line, shown below: void append_header_line( const char *line, char *hdr ) { printf("Adding header line\n"); strcat( hdr, line ); printf("Line added. Adding ending.\n"); strcat( hdr, "\r\n" ); printf("Success\n"); } All it's supposed to do is tack the "line" parameter onto the end of the "hdr" parameter, and then add "\r\n" to the end of it all. The problem is that the first strcat call never exits. When I run this code, all it does is say: Adding header line Which means that the following lines never execute, and I can't figure out why. Any thoughts?

  • Return result of block passed to #scan during regex

    - by Oli
    I've searched and not been able to find the right way of doing what I'm trying to. I read a file line by line and want to create a new object from a regex on each line. I'm not using an XML parser because the data is not well formed and listed below is all I need to get from each line. I can't seem to get scan to return the result of the block. It just returns the original string. I have temporarily gotten around it by creating this temp variable, but I'm sure there is a better way. enum = File.foreach(filename) enum.map do |line| temp = nil line.scan(/<cab id="(\w+)" updates="(\d+)"/) { |a,b| temp = Cab.new(a,b) } temp end Thanks for any help.

  • Parse text of element with empty element inside

    - by Mando
    I'm trying to convert an XHTML document that uses lots of tables into a semantic XML document in Python using xml.etree. However, I'm having some trouble converting this XHTML <TD> Textline1<BR/> Textline2<BR/> Textline3 </TD> into something like this <lines> <line>Textline1</line> <line>Textline2</line> <line>Textline3</line> </lines> The problem is that I don't know how to get the text after the BR elements.

  • Whhether or not it is an elegant way in such a situation?

    - by z_axis
    There are some text files which needed to be manipulated line by line. I wrote a withFile function as below: let withFile fn handle = let rec iter_lines fh = try handle (input_line fh); iter_lines fh with _ -> close_in fh in iter_lines (open_in fn);; So i can manipulate each file as : withFile "file1.txt" (fun line -> (*...*)) withFile "file2.txt" (fun line -> (*...*)) ... But i amnot sure how to exit elehantly when i donot want to handle all lines. For example: withFile "file3.txt" (fun line -> (*when the line meets some condition, i will exit without handling other lines*) ); Any suggestion is appreciated !

  • Prolem with if function

    Hi, something seems to be wrong with the first line of this if function, seems alright to me though. if ($count1 == sizeof($map) && $count2 == sizeof($map[0])){ echo ";"; }else{ echo ","; } This is the error I get (line 36 is the first line of the above line.) Parse error: parse error in C:\wamp\www\game\mapArrayConvertor.php on line 36 EDIT: The OP notes in an answer below that the error was a missing semi-colon on line 35 and not the code included in the question.

  • Reading from a file into an array in c

    - by NaNa21
    My file contains a series of numbers (integer, float, integer, float ....), each written on a separate line. The numbers of columns are different from one line to another i.e. 1 2.45 3 1.75 5 3.45 7 2.55 9 3.25 6 1.75 4 3.55 6 2.55 9 2.45 The program should read the contents of the entire file and place the data into an array of type float with an entry for each line. Here is my basic solution, but this is only suitable if I have fixed no of columns. float Read(FILE *pFile) { char line[50]; char letter[5]; fi = fopen("file.txt", "r"); while (fgets(line,200,fi)!=NULL) { sscanf(line,"%f %f %f",&a[i], &a2[i],&a3[i]); printf("%2.0f %2.5f %2.0f\n",a[i],a2[i],a3[i]); } fclose(fi); return a[i]; } Please HELP.

  • C++ stringstream reads all zero's

    - by user69514
    I have a file which contains three integers per line. When I read the line I use a stringstream to separate the values, but it only reads the first value as it is. The other two are read as zero's. ifstream inputstream(filename.c_str()); if( inputstream.is_open() ){ string line; stringstream ss; while( getline(inputstream, line) ){ //check line and extract elements int id; double income; int members; ss.clear(); ss.str(line); ss >> id >> income >> members; In the case above, id is extracted correctly, but income, and members get assigned zero instead of the actual value.
