  • java keytool question

    - by user384706
Hi, I created a java keystore programmatically of type jks (i.e. default type). It is initially empty so I created a DSA certificate. keytool -genkey -alias myCert -v -keystore trivial.keystore How can I see the public and private keys? I.e. is there a command that prints the private key of my certificate? I could only find keytool -certreq which in my understanding prints the certificate as a whole: -----BEGIN NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- MIICaTCCAicCAQAwZTELMAkGA1UEBhMCR1IxDzANBgNVBAgTBkdyZWVjZTEPMA0GA1UEBxMGQXRo BQADLwAwLAIUQZbY/3Qq0G26fsBbWiHMbuVd3VICFE+gwtUauYiRbHh0caAtRj3qRTwl -----END NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- I assume this is the whole certificate. How can I see private (or public key) via keytool? Thank you

  • Oracle GoldenGate 12c - Leading Enterprise Replication

    - by Doug Reid
Oracle GoldenGate 12c released  on October 17th and includes several new cutting edge features that firmly establishes GoldenGate's leader position in the data replication space.   In fact, this release more than doubles the performance of data delivery, supports Oracle's new multitenant database feature,  it's more secure, has more options for high availability, and has made great strides to simplify the configuration and deployment of the product.     Read through the press release if you haven't already and do not miss the quote from Cern's Eva Dafonte Perez, regarding Oracle GoldenGate 12c "….performs five times faster compared to previous GoldenGate versions and simplifies the management of a multi-tier environment" There are a variety of new and improved features in the Oracle GoldenGate 12c.  Here are the highlights: Optimized for Oracle Database 12c -  GoldenGate 12c is custom tailored to the unique capabilities of Oracle database 12c and out of the box GoldenGate 12c supports multitenant (pluggable database (PDB)) and non-consolidated deployments of Oracle Database 12c.   The naming convention used by database 12c is now in three parts (PDB-name, schema-name, and object name).  We have made changes to the GoldenGate capture process to support the new naming convention and streamlined the whole process so a single GoldenGate capture process is being used at the container level rather than at each individual PDB.  By having the capture process at the container level resource usage and the number of processes are reduced. To view a conceptual architecture diagram click here. Integrated Delivery for the Oracle Database - Leveraging a lightweight streaming API built exclusively for Oracle GoldenGate 12c, this process distributes load, auto tunes the degree of parallelism, scales better, and delivers blinding rates of changed data delivery to the Oracle database.  One of the goals for Oracle GoldenGate 12c was to reduce IT costs by simplifying the configuration and reduce the time to manage complex infrastructures.  In previous versions of Oracle GoldenGate, customers would split transaction loads by grouping tables into multiple different delivery processes (click here to view the previous method). Each delivery process executed independently and without any interaction or knowledge of other delivery processes.  This setup was complicated to configure and time consuming as the developer needed in-depth knowledge of the source and target schemas and the transaction profile. With GoldenGate 12c and Integrated Delivery we have made it easier to configure and faster to deploy.  To view a conceptual architecture diagram of integrated delivery click here Coordinated Delivery for Non-Oracle Databases - Coordinated Delivery orchestrates high-speed apply processes and simplifies the configuration of GoldenGate for non-Oracle targets. In Oracle GoldenGate 12c a single delivery process is used with multiple threads (click here) and key events, such as primary key updates, event markers, DDL, etc, are coordinated between the various threads to insure that the transactions are applied in the same sequence as they were captured, all while delivery improved performance.  Replication Between On-Premises and Cloud-Based systems. - The trend for business to utilize both on-premises and cloud-based systems is rising and businesses need to replicate data back and forth.   GoldenGate 12c can be configured in a variety of ways to provide real-time replication when unrestricted or restricted (limited ports or HTTP tunneling) networks are between on-premises and cloud-based systems.    Expanded Heterogeneity - It wouldn't be a GoldenGate release without new and improved platform support.   Release 1 includes support for MySQL 5.6 and Sybase 15.7.   Upcoming in the next release GoldenGate, support will be expanded for MS SQL Server, DB2, and Teradata. Tighter Security - Oracle GoldenGate 12c is integrated with the Oracle wallet to shield usernames and passwords using strong encryption and aliases.   Customers accustomed to using the Oracle Wallet with other Oracle products will instantly be familiar with how to use this great new feature Expanded Oracle Application and Technology Support -   GoldenGate can be used along with Oracle Coherence to enable real-time changed data feeds to the Coherence cache using Toplink and the Oracle GoldenGate JMS adapter.     Plus,  Oracle Advanced Customer Services (ACS) now offers a low downtime E-Business Suite platform and database migrations using GoldenGate as the enabling technology.  Keep tuned for more blogs on the new features and the upcoming launch webcast where we will go into these new features in more detail.   In the mean time make sure to read through our white paper "Oracle GoldenGate 12c Release 1 New Features Overview"

  • XForms: set relevancy for a list

    - by Purni
I have a list element in my model instance. I am using Orbeon XForms. <mypage> <list name='mylist'/> <status /> </mypage> Status can be Private or Public. In xforms:binding, I want to set relevant attribute for showing/hiding the list. The list is bound to a drop-down. If status is Private I want to show the list, if status is Public I want to hide the list. I tried the following and it does not work. <xforms:bind nodeset="instance('myinstance')/list[@name='mylist']" relevant="instance('myinstance')/status='Private'" />

  • Seam cache provider with ehcache null

    - by Cateno Viglio
Hi every one, I'm trying to configure seam/ehcache following the tutorial from jboss page: http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.1.2/reference/en-US/html/cache.html I put the ehcache.1.2.3.jar in project.ear/lib and injected CacheProvider as especified, but the CacheProvider always return null. The documentation doesn't show any aditional configuration for ehcache, just for jboss cache. I am probably doing something wrong, it's impossible be so easy :). besides put the jar in /lib, i created the following seam component to test: @Scope(ScopeType.SESSION) @Name("cacheBean") public class CacheSeamBean implements java.io.Serializable { @In(required=false, create=true) private EntityManager em; @Logger private Log log; @In private Events events; @In CacheProvider cacheProvider; Boolean blLoaded = Boolean.FALSE; @Create public void buscar() { if (!blLoaded){ List<Parametro> lstParametro = em.createQuery("select p from Parametro p").getResultList(); for (Parametro parametro : lstParametro){ cacheProvider.put(parametro.getCodigo(), parametro.getValor()); } blLoaded= Boolean.TRUE; } } } Thanks

  • HQL query for entity with max value

    - by Rob
I have a Hibernate entity that looks like this (accessors ommitted for brevity): @Entity @Table(name="FeatureList_Version") @SecondaryTable(name="FeatureList", pkJoinColumns=@PrimaryKeyJoinColumn(name="FeatureList_Key")) public class FeatureList implements Serializable { @Id @Column(name="FeatureList_Version_Key") private String key; @Column(name="Name",table="FeatureList") private String name; @Column(name="VERSION") private Integer version; } I want to craft an HQL query that retrieves the most up to date version of a FeatureList. The following query sort of works: Select f.name, max(f.version) from FeatureList f group by f.name The trouble is that won't populate the key field, which I need to contain the key of the record with the highest version number for the given FeatureList. If I add f.key in the select it won't work because it's not in the group by or an aggregate and if I put it in the group by the whole thing stops working and it just gives me every version as a separate entity. So, can anybody help?

  • Assigning a default value to a final variable in case of an exception in Java

    - by frenetisch applaudierend
Why won't Java let me assign a value to a final variable in a catch block after setting the value in the try block, even if it is not possible for the final value to be written in case of an exception. Here is an example that demonstrates the problem: public class FooBar { private final int foo; private FooBar() { try { int x = bla(); foo = x; // In case of an exception this line is never reached } catch (Exception ex) { foo = 0; // But the compiler complains // that foo might have been initialized } } private int bla() { // You can use any of the lines below, neither works // throw new RuntimeException(); return 0; } } The problem is not hard to work around, but I would like to understand why the compiler does not accept this. Thanks in advance for any inputs!

  • How to write a Custom DesignerSerializer for an class used by a Activity (WF)

    - by Stefan Steinegger
    I have a type which is used in a WF activity. It should be serialized. It doesn't work out of the box, most probably because of the private setters in that type. I'm not sure if this is the correct way, but I tried to write my own serializer and declared it on my class. [DesignerSerializer( typeof(FooDesignerSerializer), // my custom serializer typeof(WorkflowMarkupSerializer))] public class Foo { public Foo(int value, string name { // ... } public int Value { get; private set; } public string Name { get; private set; } } Is this the easiest way to get it serialized? How do I write this serializer? That's what I got so far: public class FooDesignerSerializer : WorkflowMarkupSerializer { protected override string SerializeToString( WorkflowMarkupSerializationManager serializationManager, object value) { // how to create a valid / XOML-like string? } }

  • .NET MVC - Storing database result during single page result?

    - by ropstah
Fairly simple issue which is solved in PHP by using a static variable. private static $pages; public function Pages() { if($pages == null) { $pages = new PageCollection(); $pages->findAll(); } } Everywhere in my code I use Pages()::someFindFunction() to make sure the results are fetched only once, and I use that same collection. I want the same in my .NET MVC application: use something like: <%=MySite.Pages.findById(1).Title%> In the code below, if I use a private variable, or if I use a public class with shared variables (doesn't matter) they are both persisted during the entire application. I want them to load the same way PHP does, once per request. Now where do I store the .NET equivalent of private static $pages, so that the code below works? //what to do with $pages?? Public Module MySite Public Function Pages() As PageCollection If $pages Is Nothing Then $pages.loadAll() End If Return $pages End Function End Module

  • Changing the Game: Why Oracle is in the IT Operations Management Business

    - by DanKoloski

Oracle is a premier sponsor of this annual event, which brings together IT executives for several days of high level talks about the state of operational management of enterprise IT. This year, Sushil Kumar, VP Product Strategy and Business Development for Oracle’s Systems & Applications Management, will be presenting on the transformation in IT Operations required to support enterprise cloud computing. IT Operations transformation is an important subject, because year after year, we hear essentially the same refrain – large enterprises spend an average of two-thirds (67%!) of their IT resources (budget, energy, time, people, etc.) on running the business, with far too little left over to spend on growing and transforming the business (which is what the business actually needs and wants). In the thirtieth year of the distributed computing revolution (give or take, depending on how you count it), it’s amazing that we have still not moved the needle on the single biggest component of enterprise IT resource utilization. Oracle is in the IT Operations Management business because when management is engineered together with the technology under management, the resulting efficiency gains can be truly staggering. To put it simply – what if you could turn that 67% of IT resources spent on running the business into 50%? Or 40%? Imagine what you could do with those resources. It’s now not just possible, but happening. This seems like a simple idea, but it is a radical change from “business as usual” in enterprise IT Operations. For the last thirty years, management has been a bolted-on afterthought – we pick and deploy our technology, then figure out how to manage it. This pervasive dysfunction is a broken cycle that guarantees high ongoing operating costs and low agility. If we want to break the cycle, we need to take a more tightly-coupled approach. As a complete applications-to-disk platform provider, Oracle is engineering management together with technology across our stack and hooking that on-premise management up live to My Oracle Support. Let’s examine the results with just one piece of the Oracle stack – the Oracle Database. Oracle began this journey with the Oracle Database 9i many years ago with the introduction of low-impact instrumentation in the database kernel (“tell me what’s wrong”) and through Database 10g, 11g and 11gR2 has successively added integrated advisory (“tell me how to fix what’s wrong”) and lifecycle management and automated self-tuning (“fix it for me, and do it on an ongoing basis for all my assets”). When enterprises take advantage of this tight-coupling, the results are game-changing. Consider the following (for a full list of public references, visit this link): British Telecom improved database provisioning time 1000% (from weeks to minutes) which allows them to provide a new DBaaS service to their internal customers with no additional resources Cerner Corporation Saved $9.5 million in CapEx and OpEx AND launched a brand-new cloud business at the same time Vodafone Group plc improved response times 50% and reduced maintenance planning times 50-60% while serving 391 million registered mobile customers Or the recent Database Manageability and Productivity Cost Comparisons: Oracle Database 11g Release 2 vs. SAP Sybase ASE 15.7, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and IBM DB2 9.7 as conducted by independent analyst firm ORC. In later entries, we’ll discuss similar results across other portions of the Oracle stack and how these efficiency gains are required to achieve the agility benefits of Enterprise Cloud. • Equivalent of public static final fields in Scala

    - by JT
I'm learning Scala, and I can't figure out how to best express this simple Java class in Scala: public class Color { public static final Color BLACK = new Color(0, 0, 0); public static final Color WHITE = new Color(255, 255, 255); public static final Color GREEN = new Color(0, 0, 255); private static final int red; private static final int blue; private static final int green; public Color(int red, int blue, int green) { this.red = red; this.blue = blue; this.green = green; } // getters, et cetera } The best I have is the following: class Color(val red: Int, val blue: Int, val green: Int) object BLACK extends Color(0, 0, 0) object WHITE extends Color(255, 255, 255) object GREEN extends Color(0, 0, 255) But I lose the advantages of having BLACK, WHITE, and GREEN being tied to the Color namespace.

  • dynamic behavior of factory class

    - by manu1001
I have a factory class that serves out a bunch of properties. Now, the properties might come either from a database or from a properties file. This is what I've come up with. public class Factory { private static final INSTANCE = new Factory(source); private Factory(DbSource source) { // read from db, save properties } private Factory(FileSource source) { // read from file, save properties } // getInstance() and getProperties() here } What's a clean way of switching between these behaviors based on the environment. I want to avoid having to recompile the class each time.

  • Is this a correct Interlocked synchronization design?

    - by Dan Bryant
I have a system that takes Samples. I have multiple client threads in the application that are interested in these Samples, but the actual process of taking a Sample can only occur in one context. It's fast enough that it's okay for it to block the calling process until Sampling is done, but slow enough that I don't want multiple threads piling up requests. I came up with this design (stripped down to minimal details): public class Sample { private static Sample _lastSample; private static int _isSampling; public static Sample TakeSample(AutomationManager automation) { //Only start sampling if not already sampling in some other context if (Interlocked.CompareExchange(ref _isSampling, 0, 1) == 0) { try { Sample sample = new Sample(); sample.PerformSampling(automation); _lastSample = sample; } finally { //We're done sampling _isSampling = 0; } } return _lastSample; } private void PerformSampling(AutomationManager automation) { //Lots of stuff going on that shouldn't be run in more than one context at the same time } } Is this safe for use in the scenario I described?

  • Generating short license keys with OpenSSL

    - by Marc Charbonneau
I'm working on a new licensing scheme for my software, based on OpenSSL public / private key encryption. My past approach, based on this article, was to use a large private key size and encrypt an SHA1 hashed string, which I sent to the customer as a license file (the base64 encoded hash is about a paragraph in length). I know someone could still easily crack my application, but it prevented someone from making a key generator, which I think would hurt more in the long run. For various reasons I want to move away from license files and simply email a 16 character base32 string the customer can type into the application. Even using small private keys (which I understand are trivial to crack), it's hard to get the encrypted hash this small. Would there be any benefit to using the same strategy to generated an encrypted hash, but simply using the first 16 characters as a license key? If not, is there a better alternative that will create keys in the format I want?

  • When defining a class as internal, do you define what would usually be public fields as internal?

    - by devoured elysium
When defining a class as internal, do you define what would usually be public fields as internal? Or do you leave them as public? I have a set of classes with public/private methods that I have decided to set as internal. Now, should I change the class' modifier to internal and let the rest of the methods/properties as they are (public/private) or switch them to (internal/private)? I don't see a big point in changing it to internal, and if by some reason later I want to set them back to public it's going to give a lot of work to have to put them back to public again. Any other thoughts on this?

  • Eager fetching of children with JDO (Datanucleus)

    - by Jan
Hi, can JDO fetch all children of a database model at once? Like: class Parent { @Persistent(mappedBy="parent") private Set<Children> children; } class Children { @Persistent private Parent parent; @Persistent private String name; } In my case, I have a large number of Parents which I fetch at once. Accessing their children then takes a lot of time because they are fetched lazily. Does JDO (Datanucleus) support their fetching at once, togehter with the Parents? I also tried to fetch all Children independantly with another quey and put them into the Level2 cache afterwards, but still they are fetched (maybe jdo doesn't know about their relationship? Because the ForeignKey (parent-id) hasn't been fetched at first?) Any ideas how to read the data structure faster? Cheers, Jan

  • PHP: OOP and methods

    - by Pirkka
Hello I`ve been wondering how to implement methods in a class. Could someone explain me what means if one does OOP in procedural style? Here is an example: class Fld extends Model { private $file; private $properties = array(); public function init($file) { $this->file = $file; $this->parseFile(); } private function parseFile() { // parses the file foreach($this->file as $line)...... .................. $this->properties = $result; } } I mean is it a good thing to have methods like these that do operations for the class properties like that. Or should I pass the class property as method parameter... I mean this would cause error if the file property wouldnt be declared.
