    I have a Python script running on my server as a FastCGI using Apache2 and mod_fcgid. I let it spawn up to five processes.     Let's say I have a quatity of items: 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 2 3 4 in a column of cells. What I want to be able to do is count the quantity how many unique "items" there are in this array: 1 -- 2 2 -- 3 3 -- 3 4 .. 3 And so forth. I want the table to look like this: Also, is there a way to accomplish this if I don't know all of the values of the array to begin with? I'm looking for a way to have excel search an array, find a unique value, count how many times that value is in the array, and then move onto the next values.

  • SQL Server "Long running transaction" performance counter: why no workee?

    Please explain to me the following observation: I have the following piece of T-SQL code that I run from SSMS: BEGIN TRAN SELECT COUNT (*) FROM m WHERE m.[x] = 123456 or m.[y] IN (SELECT f.x FROM f) SELECT COUNT (*) FROM m WHERE m.[x] = 123456 or m.[y] IN (SELECT f.x FROM f) COMMIT TRAN The query takes about twenty seconds to run. I have no other user queries running on the server. Under these circumstances, I would expect the performance counter "MSSQL$SQLInstanceName:Transactions\Longest Transaction Running Time" to rise constantly up to a value of 20 and then drop rapidly. Instead, it rises to around 12 within two seconds and then oscillates between 12 and 14 for the duration of the query after which it drops again. According to the MS docs, the counter measures "The length of time (in seconds) since the start of the transaction that has been active longer than any other current transaction." But apparently, it doesn't. What gives?

When I have purchased it, it could open the website : http://stackoverflow.com But, now from last 2 months, I am unable to open this website. :( I have changed my DNS server to 8.8.8.8 & Alternate server to 8.8.4.4. This both are the free google dns servers. But, still facing the same problem.   • Laptop wakes from sleep, once, due to audio controller (Windows 7)

    The laptop is a recent Dell XPS 15z and the problem is as follows (reproducible about 90% of tries): put laptop to sleep using either Start-Sleep or closing the lid laptop goes to sleep after about 5 seconds, but instantly wakes again showing a black screen (touching the keyboard or moving the mouse shows the login screen one normally gets after wake) login again, put laptop to sleep latop stays in sleep mode output of powercfg -lastwake after the first instant wake shows the audio controller is responsible. Why would that be, why only the first try, and how to fix this?   • RAID1 rebuild fails due to disk errors

    Quick info: Dell R410 with 2x500GB drives in RAID1 on H700 Adapter Recently one of drives in RAID1 array on server failed, lets call it Drive 0. RAID controller marked it as fault and put it offline. I replaced faulty disk with new one (same series and manufacturer, just bigger) and configured new disk as hot spare. Rebuild from Drive1 started immediately and after 1.5 hour I got message that Drive 1 failed. Server was unresponsive (kernel panic) and required reboot. Given that half hour before this error rebuild was at about 40%, I estimated that new drive is not in sync yet and tried to reboot just with Drive 1. RAID controller complained a bit about missing RAID arrays, but it found foreign RAID array on Drive 1 and I imported it. Server booted and it runs (from degraded RAID). Here is SMART data for disks. Disks are about 1 year old, but it is pretty unbelievable to me that both would die within so short timespan.

I've even tried parsing the field, but the time always creates an issue. How to I get my pivot table to give me a count by day and ignore the time stamp?

  • Tomcat can't talk to MySql after outage

    I missed a payment for my server and hey suspended my account for a day or so. When they brought the server back up all my data was in tact but for some reason Tomcat can't make a JDBC connection to my MySql server. They both run on the same machine and hence I have a bind address of 127.0.0.1. It's strange because I have reset the machine of my own accord before without issue but clearly something has been reset in the downtime. I followed this guide (Just the bits which don't concern S3, I am not on Amazon infrastructure) originally and everything worked as expected. I'm very new to being a SysAdmin and I'm not sure what to try, how would you go about diagnosing this issue?   • NFSv3 Asynchronous Write Depends on Block Size?

    I am trying to figure out if my NFSv3 deployment is performing SAFE asynchronous writes. I suspect that it is doing strictly synchronous writes, as I am getting poor performance in general. I used Wireshark to look at the 'stable' flag in write calls, and look for 'commit' calls. I noticed that, with especially large block sizes, writes to appear to be performed asynchronously: dd if=/dev/zero of=/proj/re3/0/zero bs=2097152 count=512 However, smaller block sizes appear to be performed strictly synchronously: dd if=/dev/zero of=/proj/re3/0/zero bs=8192 count=655360 What gives? How does the client decide whether to tell the server to perform writes synchronously or asynchronously? Is there any way I can get smaller block sizes to be performed asynchronously?

  • OpenLDAP with StartTLS broken on Debian Lenny

    I'm trying to get OpenLDAP on Lenny to work with StartTLS. I have a Fedora 13 machine which I'm using as a client for testing. So far the Fedora client is ignoring the 'host' directive in /etc/ldap.conf when I try to connect using ldapsearch. The client wants to connect to 127.0.0.1:389 even if I specify -H ldaps://server.name on when using ldapsearch. /etc/ldap.conf on the client machine is in mode 444. But even when I try connecting locally from an ssh session, I see errors like this: ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Can't contact LDAP server (-1) Someone hit me with a cluebat, plz. Update: you must use ~/.ldaprc for settings such as 'host'. Also, I just used nmap against the ldap server and it showed 636 and 389 in an open state.     While checking on Exim's log messages I found many entries of the following message "Sender verify failed" "rejected RCPT" ... I 'm not an exim expert... I'm afraid Exim is not delivering 100% emails to recipients, because our Email Marketing Application its getting a lower OPEN RATE. Can someone helpe understand this log messages? I would like it to search through all the lines in column A, to find something that has that name in it, then it should count the number of people, and come out with the number (in how many) the "middle price" I want it to take the price of B (depending on where it found it called headphones) and take the average price of it. In secured, as I would like it to count how many of them (from the number, or from the beginning) that have "secured" as "no" and "yes." I would like to use this on several things. For what is marked in pink: Where would I find the average price of all the goods, and what the name of the particular item is? Same with the highest and lowest price. How can I do this?

  • Use dns suffixes only on certain wireless networks?

    Hello all, quick question. I'm a software guy and networking is all black magic to me! I have a laptop which I use at home and at the office. In order to be able to more easily reference our servers at work, I have our domain name in the DNS suffixes on my TCP/IP settings on my wireless connection. This all works beautifully and I can reference our servers simply by name only. Now the problem... When I go home, it still has those suffixes in there, and I cannot access other servers because it appends the DNS suffixes to the server names. Is there a way I can set up DNS suffixes so that they are only applied when connected to a certain wireless network (I'm thinking by SSID).

The following is example data: A B C ? 0 what? For example, in cell A1 I have a function like: =Right(C1) which is the end character of string in C1. Then I need to use the result of A1 in B1 =Count(C$1:C1, A1 = "?") As you can see, the result is 0. I think that A1 in above expression is referring to the formula of A1, instead of its result. Is there anything available like this in Numbers? =Count(C$1:C1, Val2(A1) = "?")

I tried searching for the cached version in Google. But, looks like the content was deleted long ago and is not listed in the search results directly. There are annotations to the link from many other sites, but still the actual content is not fully available. Now, can anybody help me see this page... I am actually looking for http://effectize.com/become-coolest-programmer :) And, moreover, in addition to bookmarking a favorite link, is it possible to cache the content of the link as well for later reference in case it gets deleted?     Is it possible to define a virtual directory in IIS and somehow make the files in that directory relative to the physical directory and not to the virtual directory ? For instance on my server I have the following folders: D:\WebSite\Css\myTheme.css, D:\WebSite\Images\image1.jpg I created a virtual directory on IIS resources.mysite: Inside my website I reference the sheet like this resources.mysite/myTheme.css But inside myTheme.css I reference pictures from ../Images/images1.jpg. So the problem is that image1.jpg is not found because it is relative to the physical folder and not the virtual folder on IIS. Can I solve this problem without modifying the style sheet ?

  • Help me find the offending process waking my Windows 7 PC from hibernate every night

    Recently my Windows 7 64-bit PC has started waking every night from hibernation around 3:30am. I have done the following to try and figure out what is causing the issue with no luck: Examined the Windows Event logs. Nothing is noted Ran powercfg -lastwake and that reports nothing c:\powercfg -lastwake Wake History Count - 1 Wake History [0] Wake Source Count - 0 Ran powercfg to find what devices are armed for wake. Interestingly, this reports two items (I've already unchecked the "Allow this device to wake the computer" in device manager): The keyboard and something called the "eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR)". This is a desktop PC and it does not have an Infrared received, so I'm not sure what that device is. Suffice to say it does not have the option to "Allow device to wake..." available in Device Manager. C:\powercfg -devicequery wake_armed eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR) HID Keyboard Device My next step is to disable the Keyboard from wake, but I'm not convined that's the problem. This is on a Dell XPS435 if that helps anyone.

    I know similar questions have been asked but I think my case is a little bit diffrent. Let's say I have a computer with 8 cores and infinite memory with a Linux OS. I have a calculation software called Gaussian that can take advantage of multithreading. So I set its thread count to 8 for a single calculation for maximum speed. However I really can't decide what to do when I need to do run for instance 8 calculations simultaneously. In that case should I set the thread count to 1(total 8 threads spawned in 8 processes) or keep it 8(total 64 threads spawned in 8 processes) for each job? Does it really matter much? A related question is does the OS automatically does the core-parking to diffrent cores for each thread?

    Let's say I have a value: \\myServer\dir1\dir2\dir3. I'd like this value to appear in multiple places in an MSWord document. However I only want to write it down once. What's a good way to do this? Fields seem like the answer but I can't get it to work; maybe it's not the answer. I'd like to be able to do this without any macros; it adds too much complexity. I need something more like Excel -- write a cell value here, reference it there, change the original value and the reference gets updated too. Edit: ideally I'd have the value updated automatically (fields don't seem to want to do that!).
