  • Creating line graph/chart in vb.net (VS2008)

    I am reluctant to ask this question because a lot of similar questions have been asked, but after reading through them I am not getting the info I need. I am trying to follow this tutorial and I think it is going to work ok, but I have a lot of data to put in and the tutorial has the reader create the chart data points manually. I want the data points to be generated from an integer which can change while the program is running (thus the chart size needs to change) and the y coordinate of the data points needs to come from an array. I have attempted to "bind" the data but I am messing it up somehow and I don't even think that is the best way to do what I want. Also, I do not have to use the methods suggested in the tutorial, I am looking for the highest quality most efficient way to generate a line graph in vb.net (VS2008) based on the criteria I previously mentioned.

    I followed the tutorial found here and added my own flare to it: tutorial What I was looking to accomplish was to put a specific image on the left and right side of the list item. So instead of just the generic <li id="blob"></li> created in the tutorial, I did <li id="blob"><div class="blob-wrap"><div class="leftimage"></div><div class="rightimage"></div></li> to accomplish the particular effect I wanted. It works beautifully ... except that the image attempts to bounce back the "currentPageItem" if I leave the mouse hovering over one of the list items. Here's a JS Bin example: http://jsbin.com/odome What do I need to do to fix it? jQuery is firing the "hoverOut" function (or whatever you want to call it). But why?

  • Hello World bootloader not working!

    Hello. I've been working through the tutorials on this webpage which progressively creates a bootloader that displays Hello World. The 2nd tutorial (where we attempt to get an "A" to be output) works perfectly, and yet the 1st tutorial doesn't work for me at all! (The BIOS completely ignores the floppy disk and boots straight into Windows). This is less of an issue, although any explanations would be appreciated. The real problem is that I can't get the 3rd tutorial to work. Instead on outputting "Hello World", I get an unusual character (and blinking cursor) in the bottom-left corner of the screen. It looks a bit like a smiley face inside a rounded rectangle. Does anyone know how to get Hello World to display as it should?

    Hello all, I have been searching and haven't got luck, I got a tutorial to use the loginview control in order to display or hide parts of the views to different user roles in my application. The thing is that the tutorial I've found is for ASP.NET and I've been told by one of my colleages that it is the same framework for ASP.NET MVC but the way to use it is different. Have you got any good tutorial to recommend? EDIT: I've got all my application set up, and the login and the roles already configured (via asp.net membership provider). This is all already running. The thing is that if I have role a and role b I want role a to be able to actually see the links to the actions it is authorized to work with, and not b for example. If in the Index of my application I've got a link to "Edit" and only the role a can access to the action, then it will be displayed just for logged in users that belong to role a, and not to those who belong to role b Thank you, Vikitor

    I'm using SproutCore and going through the Todos tutorial on http://wiki.sproutcore.com/Todos+06-Building+with+Rails. SproutCore and Rails use different names for the primary key on a model (Sproutcore = 'guid', Rails = 'id'). The tutorial gives directions to Adjust Rails JSON output, but in my app that I'm planning on building, I cannot do this because sproutcore is only one of a couple interfaces used to interact with the Rails app. As an alternate option, the tutorial gives the following directions: Option 2: Set primaryKey in your Sproutcore model class You can subclass SC.Record and set the primaryKey of your sublcass to "id". Your Todo- Object then needs to extend from e.g. App.Rails.Record. App.Rails.Record = SC.Record.extend({ primaryKey : "id" // Extend your records from App.Rails.Record instead of SC.Record. }); Where should I subclass SC.Record (i.e. in what file) such that it is properly read and included?

    Hi, I am new to php and trying out this tutorial at : http://css-tricks.com/php-for-beginners-building-your-first-simple-cms/ Unfortunately I am getting the following error and can't seem to track down the reason: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_PUBLIC in ../simpleCMS.php on line 56 My code for simpleCMS.php is as is in the tutorial link above. FYI, my line 56 is the following line of code in simpleCMS.php public function display_admin() { Above this line is public function display_public() Can anyone possibly see what I could be doing wrong and again, my code is the same code from the tutorial website and have downloaded the files that came with it? Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Furthermore, I am using Mac OS X MAMP to run my Apache/MySQL Server locally. My other question is, when I using the following command: mysql_connect($this->host,$this->username,$this->password) is my hostname 'localhost' alone or do I also have to include port alongside the localhost?     I am new to node.js but am excited to try it out. I am using Express as a web framework, and Jade as a template engine. Both were easy to get setup following this tutorial from Node Camp. However the one problem I am finding is I can't find a simple tutorial for getting a DB set up. I am trying to build a basic chat application (store session and message). Does anyone know of a good tutorial? This other SO post talks about dbs to use- but as this is very different from the Django/MySQL world I've been in, I want to make sure I understand what is going on. Thanks!

    Hi To implement a college project, I need to handle XML files. For this I choose lxml after doing some research. However I can't seem to find some nice tutorial to help me get started. I can't choose most specifically which type of parsing I need to use. My XML files don't have that much data but speed is main concern, not memory. Can anyone point me to some tutorial that would help me or some book that I can lookup? I have already tried the tutorial on lxml site but that didn't help me much. Is there some small application I can look up to get a hang of parsing XML with lxml

    I'm using the regroup template tag to group queryset output on a Choices field. In the model: RESOURCE_TYPES = ( ('tut','External tutorial'), ('read','Additional reading'), ('org','Company or organization'), ) restype = models.CharField('Resource type',max_length=6,choices=RESOURCE_TYPES) in the view: resources = Resource.objects.filter(tutorial=tutorial) in the template: {% regroup resources by restype as resource_list %} {% for type in resource_list %} <h3>{{type.grouper}}</h3> So type.grouper renders as 'tut' or 'org' on the page, rather than the long form. Normally you would use the get_foo_display syntax to get at the value of the choice, rather than the key. But the value doesn't seem to be available after going through regroup. There's no way I can find to use get_foo_display on {{type.grouper}}. It makes sense when you think about it, but what's the workaround? Thanks.

    I was just starting to learn cakephp today by going through a "blog tutorial". I created my blog_controller.php and then created a folder named 'blog' with the apps/views/ structure. The next step in the tutorial was to create the index.ctp file within the blog folder under views. In the tutorial it declares that all error messages should be gone. However, I still receive an error message: Error: The view for BlogController::index() was not found. Error: Confirm you have created the file: /Users/trippstephens/Dropbox/cakephp-cakephp1x-348e5f0/app/views/blog/index.ctp For the life of me, I can not figure out what I have done wrong. I am running cakephp under MAMP and it "installed" successfully. Any help would be appreciated.

    I am looking to create a very simple C# application which runs Full-Screen in Direct3D, and is able to grab the Desktop 'scene', mapping each Window from the Desktop to a Textured Polygon in my D3D Scene... I'm hoping to create a simplistic "3D Desktop" type of application as an experiment, and I'm wondering if there is a specific method for doing something like the following: 1)Get a list of all the Windows open on the Desktop (List of HWNDs?). 2)Grab the X,Y position of each Window, as well as the Width and Height. 3)Grab the Rendered image of each Window (magic happens here). 4)Create a new Texture/Surface in D3D using the Width and Height of the Window(s), and apply the Image we grabbed as a Texture. Is there an efficient 'best practice' for acquiring the actual image(s) being rendered to the Desktop? Is there also a 'best practice' for "extending the desktop" to a virtual second, third, etc. "desktop" and being able to swap between them, including creating a unique instance of the task-bar for each virtual desktop.   • Errors when using a Ruby On Rails scaffold with a data type of interger

    I am learning Ruby On Rails. I am on a shared hosting with Ruby version 1.8.1 and Rails version 2.3.10. I am working my way through a tutorial at http://railstutorial.org/chapters/a-demo-app?version=2.3#top and at one point in the tutorial it has me run: script/generate scaffold Micropost content:string user_id:interger The tutorial is using the default database, SQLite3. The command works and I use rake db:migrate to create the database. I can view the page listing the microposts (which is empty), but when I try to add a micropost (microposts/new) I get an error undefined method `user_id' for #<Micropost:0x7f710e4988e8> After doing some testing on my own it seems I experience the problem by using the data type of interger. While I understand that using a scaffold is not the best way of building a ruby on rails, I'm just beginning and would still like to know why I am experiencing this problem to help me better understand how rails works.

I would like to "merge" the 2 sets (but I cannot change the html code) because I want the thumbnails of the second set floating right after the last thumbnail of the first set. In other terms, if in the last row there are only 2 thumbnails and the last 2 columns are empty, the thumbnails of the second set should fill the empty columns of the last row of the first set.   • How to use default.ctp in cakephp

    I just finished the "15 min Blog Post tutorial" included in the documentation for cakephp. I was asked for another tutorial to change the layout for first tutorial. However, I am fairly new to MVC programming/Cakephp and I have no real clue how to do so. Well, I know I need "default.ctp" placed in app/views/layouts/ and I presume I need to include to include my data? . . . I am really at a loss of what to do. I set up my default.ctp as I mentioned above, but when I go to localhost:9999/posts the layout is still the same. I guess I need to include a stylesheet (and if so, where?) I guess if someone can point me in the right direction to a beginner's guide to layout styling or how to use it I would greatly appreciate any help.

    This is a fairly simple question. Basically, I'm having a program send HardWare ID's to my PHP script as GET data. I need the PHP script check to make sure that HardWare ID is in a specific MySQL column, and if it is, { continue the script, } else { exit(); } Problem is I'm not too good with MySQL and have no idea how to do this. However, I feel that I should know this by now, so if someone could also link me to a good tutorial site for MySQL, that kind of keeps it "humanized" if you know what I mean. One that "dumbs it down." I'm not dumb or anything, I just get sidetracked easily, and if all its doing is showing me code and not explaining it, I won't pick it up. If you don't have any tutorial sites off the top of your head, I'll settle for help with the first question, and try to hunt down a tutorial later.

  • GeForce 9600GT support for dual monitor setup

    I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT (point of view, link) on an Asus M2V-MX motherboard. The card has one DVI, HDMI and S-Video output. The graphics card does not seem to support dual monitors: the driver control panel for the graphics card does not detect a second monitor that is attached via S-Video (which leads me to believe that it doesn't support dual monitors with DVI and the other connections). Would it be possible to use a VGA/DVI splitter to attach two monitors to the single DVI output on the graphics card? Would this allow for a dual monitor setup, or only mirroring? How do I know if the graphic card supports this? With this particular motherboard, would it be possible to use the onboard video for another monitor?
