  • C/C++ detect network type

    I need to write a win32 c/c++ application which will be able to determine whether the PC it's running on is connected to one of 2 networks. The first network is the company LAN (which has no internet connection) and the second network is a standalone switch with a single PC connected to it (the PC that the program is running on). I'm pretty new to network programming but so far I have tried testing to see if a network drive which is held on our LAN can be mapped. This works fine if the PC is connected to the LAN, the drive mapping succeeds so so LAN detection is successful. However, if the PC is connected to the switch, this results in a VERY long timeout which is not a suitable as it will delay the program so much as to make it unusable. Does anyone have any alternative suggestions? I'm using c/c++ in VS 6.0

  • HTTP Response 412 - can you include content?

    I am building a RESTful data store and leveraging Conditional GET and PUT. During a conditional PUT the client can include the Etag from a previous GET on the resource and if the current representation doesn't match the server will return the HTTP status code of 412 (Precondition Failed). Note this is an Atom based server/protocol. My question is, when I return the 412 status can I also include the new representation of the resource or must the user issue a new GET? The HTTP spec doesn't seem to say yes or no and neither does the Atom spec (although their example shows an empty entity body on the response). It seems pretty wasteful not to return the new representation and make the client specifically GET it. Thoughts?

  • Extract elements from list based on object property type

    Often, I have a list of objects. Each object has properties. I want to extract a subset of the list where a specific property has a predefined value. Example: I have a list of User objects. A User has a homeTown. I want to extract all users from my list with "Springfield" as their homeTown. I normally see this accomplished as follows: List users = getTheUsers(); List returnList = new ArrayList(); for (User user: users) { if ("springfield".equalsIgnoreCase(user.getHomeTown()) returnList.add(user); } I am not particularly satisfied with this solution. Yes, it works, but it seems so slow. There must be a non-linear solution. Suggestions?

  • Hibernate saveOrUpdate problem on char data type

    Hi I am using Hibernate 3.0 , facing issue related to the char datatype field. I am trying to save Client pojo in the database, using following method. Problem is my client_id field is char(10) in the database. when client_id is 10 characters it works fine. but when client_id is less than ten characters it gives problem at the time of update. Rather than updating data it try to insert cleint record again and gives the unquie key exeception. i drill down the problem because of char(10) client_id field. it keeps space after client_id value upto 10 characters.     Hi, I am using the JQuery load function to load part of my page. Can I access the variables from that page in the page that loads it. e.g. Page A uses JQuery load function to load B Page B loads and sets a variable in context called pageB_var which holds a django object Page A can then access this variable by doing {{pageB_var}} since it was added to the context If not what is the best way of doing this?     I have a snippet of code that alters the contents of a DIV to match the contents of a textarea and then applies the height change in the DIV to the textarea element. function growTextArea(parameter) { $('div').find("[data-fieldid='1_description']").text($(parameter).val()); // No Works height = $('.hiddenDiv').find("[data-fieldid='1_description']").outerHeight(); alert(height); // Works heightDiv = $('.hiddenDiv').outerHeight(); alert(heightDiv); $(parameter).css('height', $('div').find("[data-fieldid='1_description']").outerHeight()); } The DIV contents change properly, so the search function is working properly, however the search function always returns the original height of the DIV. The function is called by onKeyUp in the textarea. If the .find is swapped out for a .hiddenDiv the height change is reflected properly.

  • Storing "binary" data type in C program

    I need to create a program that converts one number system to other number systems. I used itoa in Windows (Dev C++) and my only problem is that I do not know how to convert binary numbers to other number systems. All the other number systems conversion work accordingly. Does this involve something like storing the input to be converted using %? Here is a snippet of my work: case 2: { printf("\nEnter a binary number: "); scanf("%d", &num); itoa(num,buffer,8); printf("\nOctal %s",buffer); itoa(num,buffer,10); printf("\nDecimal %s",buffer); itoa(num,buffer,16); printf("\nHexadecimal %s \n",buffer); break; } For decimal I used %d, for octal I used %o and for hexadecimal I used %x. I can extract all the information in the gas price table (address, time submitted etc.), except for the actual gas price. Is there a way I could scrap the gas prices? i.e. somehow get a text representation of it. I'm not very familiar with ASP/ASPX - but what's being generated now is not showing up in the final HTML. I'm using Python to do the scrapping, but that's irrelevant unless there's a specific library...

    Hì there, I've used the "FeatureList" Jquery Plugin to make my own content slider. The script can be found here: http://pastebin.com/7iyE5ADu Here is an exemplificative image to show what I'm triyng to achieve: http://i41.tinypic.com/6jkeq1.jpg Actually the slider add a "current" class to an item (in the example the squares 1,2 and 3) and for each thumb show a content in the main area. In the example, with an interval of 2 seconds, the script switch from 1 to 2, from 2 to 3, and so on. I'd like to make a continuous animation of the thumbs, anyone can help me?

    I am trying to use the model ListModel as a generic list model. I would like to enter on the page @Html.DisplayForModel() However the MVC is not correctly finding the templated file "ListModel.cshtml". It must work differently for generic models. What should I name the templated file in order for it to correctly be located? public class ListModel<T> { public IEnumerable<T> Models {get;set;} public string NextPage {get;set;} } I would expect it to look for "Shared/DisplayTemplates/ListModel.ascx" but it doesn't. Does anyone know?
