  • Hover effect for parent unordered list inherited by child list

    - by elvista
    I have a simple menu <ul id="menu"> <li class="leaf"><a href="#">Menu Item 1</a></li> <li class="leaf"><a href="#">Menu Item 2</a></li> <li class="expanded"><a href="#">Menu Item 3</a> <ul> <li class="leaf"><a href="#">Menu Item a</a></li> <li class="leaf"><a href="#">Menu Item b</a></li> <li class="leaf"><a href="#">Menu Item c</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="leaf"><a href="#">Menu Item 4</a></li> </ul> and ul#menu li a:hover {font-weight:bold;} The problem I am facing is when I hover above a ul li li, the parent as well as all its siblings gets the hover effect. I only want the list item I hovered above to get the effect. I tried ul#menu li.leaf a: hover {..}, ul#menu li.expanded a: hover {..} , but even in that case, when I hover above li.expanded, it's child inherits the style. How do I fix this?

    - by sterling
Is it possible to detect if a visitor is on the index page or domain root with client side scripting? I figure javascript would be the best method as I would like to append a value to an image file based on wether a visitor is on the home page or not. Non-index page: <img src="/img/logo.png" /> Index page: <img src="/img/logo-home.png" />

  • How do I resize a Google Map with JavaScript after it has loaded?

    - by Matthew James Taylor
I have a 'mapwrap' div set to 400px x 400px and inside that I have a Google 'map' set to 100% x 100%. So the map loads at 400 x 400px, then with JavaScript I resize the 'mapwrap' to 100% x 100% of the screen - the google map resizes to the whole screen as I expected but tiles start disappearing before the right hand edge of the page. Is there a simple function I can call to cause the Google map to re-adjust to the larger size 'mapwrap' div?

  • Alternate play / pause button for WordPress wpaudio soundmanager plugin

    - by j-man86

My problem is that I use this plugin in two areas on my site: one on a black background, and one on a white background. I need to use an alternate set of play/pause buttons for each page (white buttons for the black background and vice versa). I am at a total loss on how to do this. • CheckboxList to display aligned?

    - by Earlz
Hello, I made a CheckboxList and it will not line up. I don't see any way to control the generated HTML. Right now, the check boxes do not align due to the widths of the <td> of each checkbox label being an automatic width. How can I set the width of this and make all the labels and checkboxes appear in two vertical aligned columns? My code is simple: <div style="text-align: center;"> <p> Here you will tell.. </p> <asp:CheckBoxList runat="server" ID="cbl" Width="300px"></asp:CheckBoxList> <br /> <input type="button" id="next_3" value="Next Page" /> </div> And here is a screen shot

  • What web browser engine, version, and capabilities are used to display web pages inside Visual Studio 2010?

    - by Phrogz
My company is developing a plugin/add-on for Visual Studio 2010. When the user asks to display the help for our product, we plan on opening an HTML page (or suite of pages) within Visual Studio. I'm helping to design and implement the help system. What web engine/version is used within Visual Studio 2010? According to Wikipedia it is not Trident(!). Am I allowed to load remote JavaScript content (via a <script> element)? Am I allowed to use XHR to load remote content? Will my page be trusted and have access to the FileSystemObject? I would appreciate any resources you can give me on programming specifically to the 'web' capabilities of VisualStudio2010-as-a-browser.

  • How to i disable the _moz_resizing?

    - by Shripad K
I am using nicEdit editor and i have added my own custom image resizing script to it. But i want to disable the default _moz_resizing that appears in firefox. I wanted to have finer control over the image being resized. ( Eg: Allow only the image to resize and inherit the width of the parent container. ) So i wrote a custom script. But since firefox has its own image resizing control (_moz_resizing) how do i disable it? If there is no way to do so, i have a very simple workaround where i browser detect firefox and turn off my custom script and use the _moz_resizing instead. But i won't have fine grained control and will have to rely on there being now browser bugs in firefox. :(

    - by Sarfraz
Hello, Recently, a client asked that his site be percent-based rather than pixel-based. The percent was to be set to 80%. As you guys know, it is very easy to center the container if it is pixel-based but how do you center a percent-based main container? #container { width:80%; margin:0px auto; } That does not center the container :(

  • Fading in/Fade out text in IE

    - by tau
    I had a problem and whipped up a quick solution: fade-in and fade-out a series of quotations. My solution works just as I want it in every browser except any of the IEs. The only problem with the IEs is that the text does not fade in and fade out; the text simply pops into existence. I believe I've run into a similar problem before when trying to dynamically change the filter:alpha(opacity=xx) of an element. Any help is greatly appreciated! <html> <head> <style> .fadetext{ background:green; border:1px solid red; height:50px; width:500px; } .fadetext div{ background:yellow; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> var CI_common = { C:function(cls,elm){ if(!elm) elm = document; if(document.getElementsByClassName){ return elm.getElementsByClassName(cls); }else{ var t = []; var o = elm.getElementsByTagName("*"); var r = new RegExp("(^|\\s)" + cls + "($|\\s)"); for(var i=0;i<o.length;i++){ if(o[i].className.match(r)) t.push(o[i]); } return t; } }, eventAdd:function(obj,evt,func){ if(obj.addEventListener){ obj.addEventListener(evt,func,false); }else if(obj.attachEvent){ obj["x" + evt + func] = func; obj[evt + func] = function(){ obj["x" + evt + func](window.event); } obj.attachEvent("on" + evt,obj[evt + func]); } } } var CI_fadetext = { init:function(){ var c = CI_common.C("fadetext"); // Simply a getElementsByClassName function for(var i=0;i<c.length;i++){ c[i].style.overflow = "hidden"; var kids = c[i].getElementsByTagName("div"); for(var j=0;j<kids.length;j++){ kids[j].style.display = "none"; kids[j].style.filter = "alpha(opacity=0)"; kids[j].style.opacity = "0"; (function(obj,index,len){ obj.fadetexttimeout = setTimeout(function(){ CI_fadetext.fade(obj,true); obj.fadeininterval = setInterval(function(){ CI_fadetext.fade(obj,true); },5000*len) },5000*index); setTimeout(function(){ CI_fadetext.fade(obj,false); obj.fadeoutinterval = setInterval(function(){ CI_fadetext.fade(obj,false); },5000*len) },5000*index+4400); })(kids[j],j,kids.length); } } }, fade:function(elm,dir){ function fade(start){ start = (dir ? start + 10 : start - 10); elm.style.filter = "alpha(opacity=" + start + ")"; elm.style.opacity = start/100; document.getElementById("output").innerHTML = elm.style.filter; if(start > 100 || start <0){ elm.style.display = (dir ?   • Get twitter bootstrap btn-group to operate like grouped navigation bar with drop down menus

    - by Jeremy Child
I have been trying to get Twitter Bootstrap btn-group with dropdown to work for multiple buttons that have a drop down menu. Example: <div class="btn-group"> <a href="#" class="btn">1</a> <a href="#" class="btn">2</a> <a href="#" class="btn">3</a> <a href="#" class="btn">4</a> <a href="#" class="btn">5</a> </div> And also my attempt: http://jsfiddle.net/x2BGB/ This displays a button group. I would like some of the buttons in that group to have drop down menus. An example of what I am trying to achieve is: Note: the grouped button "bar" should not have rounded cornes when a button is next to another button. (right side).
