  • How to setup complete file access and control on a network

    I have a media server running ubuntu 12.04 and I want it setup so that any PC on the network (windows etc) has complete access to all files, folders etc with read, write, edit, copy to, copy from permissions. No need for security (IE no password or user name, just select it on the network and start editing). I have samba installed and personal file sharing is enabled but my windows PC cannot see it on the network. I already set up another server as I described but unfortunately I can't remember how or where I found the guides for it. Any on know of a guide that covers what I want?

  • Setting up IIS 7.5 for AD Client Certificates for iOS devices

    I am working on getting an iPad to auth to an IIS7.5 website using a local certificate mapped to a user in AD. I am not, in any sense of the word, an IIS admin. I essentially need to setup a proof of concept. I believe that this may work, but I just have no idea how to do it. What I have so far is an iPad with a user certificate installed. I have this user certificate added the correlating user account in AD. What I would like is a basic text webpage to load showing the user that it is authenticating. I would like this page to not be viewable unless it is client certificate authenticated. I don't mind doing the legwork, but I really don't know where to begin on the IIS side. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Call java program on server through web request

    I need to develop an application where a Java client calls a Java application located on the server with certain parameters, the Java application on the server computes data and sends the data back to the client. Everything needs to go through port 80 on which I have a IIS webserver listening. I cannot open any other port on the server. Is there any way I can do this? The server can write files in a directory that the client can read but I am not sure how to handle the synchronization and I don't know how to call a script on the server from the client through port 80. Every suggestion would be highly appreciated Thanks a lot in advance, this problem is making me crazy

  • Linux pptp client stops working after several hours

    Here's the situation: Setup: 1 Windows Server 2008 machine acting as a Domain Controller and RRAS server 1 CentOS machine in a datacentre located elsewhere PPTP client running on CentOS machine, connected to the DC via When I connect to the DC, everything is working fine. I have set up a static IP for the dialup connection in my RRAS server so that the CentOS machine is automatically assigned the IP 192.168.1.240. Inside the VPN, it is not possible to access this machine on the local IP-address. Perfect. However, after several hours, it simply seems to stop working (IE: I cannot ping to or from this machine on the local network). However, I obviously do not want to do this every X-hours or so. I have tried running pppd with both the debug as the kdebug flag but cannot find the cause of this problem.
