Entity Framework use of indexes and foreign keys

I want to be able to search a table quite quickly using the Entity Framework, say if I have a Contacts table, a JobsToDo table and a matrix table linking the two tables e.g Contacts_JobsToDo_Mtx and I specify two foreign keys in the Contacts_JobsToDo_Mtx table, if I wanted to search this Mtx table, do I need to specify an index on the two foreign keys? Or by the fact that they are two foreign keys are they considered indexed on them anyway? Will the Entity Framework be able to search through the Mtx table quickly without having to specfiy an index on both keys? Thanks!

Unable to start basic application using sencha 2. Library files are not loaded

I am a new bee to sencha 2.I wanted to run a basic application using sencha touch but unable to load the application. Here is what I have done. I have downloaded the notesApp from miamicoder and i am trying to run the first chapter. I have attached the folder structure in the screenshot. Please have a look to understand the folder structure. I used to to the same thing in sencha 1 and I was getting success but I am getting below error if I am trying to do the same with sencha 2. I am getting errors as below. Wikipedia describes the Single Responsibility Principle this way: The Single Responsibility Principle states that every object should have a single responsibility, and that responsibility should be entirely encapsulated by the class. All its services should be narrowly aligned with that responsibility. The traditional use of the controller in MVC seems to lead a programmer towards a violation of this principle. Take a simple guest book controller and view. The controller might have two methods/actions: 1) Index() and 2) Submit(). The Index() displays the form. The Submit() processes it. Do these two methods represent two distinct responsibilities? If so, how does Single Responsibility come in to play?

Why does the jQuery on this page work for Internet Explorer 8, but nothing else?

I made a web page that uses jQuery: http://benmccormack.com/demo/MichaelMassPsalm/Psalm16Mode5.html When you change the selection in the combo box from Higher Key to Lower Key, all of the music images are supposed to change their source to be images that represent the lower key signature. This works great in IE8, but it won't work in Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. Why not? Namespace Autoload works under windows, but not on Linux

Is this a configuration issue on my linux box, or just a difference in the way namespaces and autoloading is handled on the different operating systems

jQuery and CodeIgniter AJAX with JSON not working

Hello, I trying to make my first AJAX with JSON call using jQuery and CodeIgniter. But for some weird reason it's not working. .Net Regular expression - how to do an exact match exclusion on a full string?

I need a .Net regular expression that matches anything OTHER than the exact full string match specified. So basically: ^Index$ ... is the only exclusion I care about. Strings can start with, finish with or contain "Index", but not match exactly. My brain doesn't seem to be working today and I'm failing to work this one out. EDIT The answer MUST be via the pattern itself, as I am passing an argument to a third party library and do not have control over the process other than via the Regex pattern.

Difference between mutableArrayValueForKey and calling insertObject:inEmployeesAtIndex: directly

I have a question regarding using KVO-compliant methods to insert/remove objects from an array. I'm working through Aaron Hillegass' Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X and I saw the following line of code (in the insertObject:inEmployeesAtIndex: method: [[undoManager prepareWithInvocationTarget:self] removeObjectFromEmployeesAtIndex:index]; Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought it was better to call mutableArrayValueForKey: and then removeObjectAtIndex:...so I tried changing the above line to this: [[undoManager prepareWithInvocationTarget:[self mutableArrayValueForKey:@"employees"]] removeObjectAtIndex:index]; And it didn't work. Can someone explain the difference and why the first line works but the second line doesn't?

I have Resharper 4.5 and have found it invaluable so far but I have a concern; It seems to want to make every variable declaration implicit(var). As a relativly new developer how much should I trust ReSharper when it comes to this? Take the below code snippet from a method that Paints Tab Headers. Java String.indexOf and empty Strings

I'm curious why the String.indexOf is returning a 0 (instead of -1) when asking for the index of an empty string within a string. The Javadocs only say this method returns the index in this String of the specified string, -1 if the string isn't found. System.out.println("FOO".indexOf("")); // outputs 0 wtf!!! SharePoint thinks new Server is offline?

I added an index server to the topology, and tried to switch it from the front end to the index server but for some reason I get an exception every time in Central Admin saying the server is offline. I checked everything... IIS is running and is serving out correctly The App Pool Identity is valid I restarted IIS I restarted the Indexing server I had a wierd problem when installing SP2 for SharePoint, (WSS sp2 installed fine) where it got stuck and "Upgrading SharePoint Products and Technologies" and I had to run the following command to get it to continue: psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force After that it said it succeeded with no errors... The only thing I haven't done is reboot the Primary server cause I have to do it in off hours, but I want to make sure I have covered all my other bases first...Any ideas?

In Coldfusion, how do I init a component that is located above the current path folder?

If I have a folder structure that looks like this: / /bin/myComponent.cfc /reports/index.cfm How do I initiate myComponent.cfc from index.cfm? myService = createObject("component", "bin.myComponent"); Using the dot syntax, I know how to go to deeper folders, but how to do I go up a folder, and down into the other folder? Using slash syntax it would be something like this: ../bin/myComponent.cfc But createObject() doesn't work that way. I'd like to keep a relative path so that I can move this folder to another server without breaking the paths. Ideas? Thanks!

Getting data back from database after an ajax post submit

I've got a web page where the user can add a new item to a category and that item is saved to the database. However, the ID of the item is an identity value for the database table, so I don't know what the ID will be, and I need this ID so that the user can edit the item later. I'm using ajax to make a POST submit: $.ajax({ url: 'TumourGroup/CreateSub', type: "POST", data: {'pos': index, 'text': text } }); This is linked to an MVC model with three fields, ID, pos, and text. Is there a way for me to get the ID that's generated on POST submit by having CreateSub(int index, string text) return something?

Git - switching between branches in the middle of work

For various reasons (code review mostly) I need to switch from current development branch to other branches quite often. Currently, I use either 'git stash' to shelve the uncommitted changes, checkout other branch, then switch back and do 'git stash apply' However, sometimes I'd have some newly added files there, which are not tracked. Unfortunately, stashing does not affect them. In this case I'd have to add them to the index and stash. What I am looking here for is a workflow where I'd have to perform a minimal set of actions to switch the branches, preferably avoiding adding of files into the index.

I would like to copy some substring of that line in to a map as below: std::map< DWORD, std::string > my_map; DWORD index; // populated with some data char buffer[ 1024 ]; // populated with some data char* element_begin; // points to some location in buffer char* element_end; // points to some location in buffer > element_begin my_map.insert( std::make_pair( index, std::string( element_begin, element_end ) ) ); This std::map<>::insert() operation takes a long time (It doubles the file parsing time). Why is Yahoo Indexing Bot considered as "evil"?

After reading and commenting on this question PHP Library for Keeping your site index by Google, Bing, etc, I was curious to look at StackOverFlow's sitemap. This returned a 404 error which I am guessing is just a protected page by determining if your are a Index Bot or simply doesnt exists. This then lead me to look at the robots.txt for StackOverFlow. I was surprised to see the comment "Yahoo bot is evil" along with a couple other Indexing bots (Spinn3r and KSCrawler) . I am unfamilular with Spinn3r and KSCrawler but my question is, why are these bots (particular Yahoo) considered as evil? Surely any and all indexing of any Search Engine is a good thing?

What I am missing?

PHP Menu Question

As one of the steps toward a greater website redesign I am putting the majority of the content of our website into html files to be used as includes. I am intending on passing a variable to the PHP template page through the URL to call the proper include. Our website has many programs that each need an index page as well as about 5 sub-pages. These program pages will need a menu system to navigate between the different pages.I am naming the pages pagex_1, pagex_2, pagex_3, etc. where "pagex" is descriptive of the page content. My question is, what would be the best way to handle this menu system? Is there a way to modify the initial variable used to arrive at the index page to create links in the menu to arrive at the other pages? Thanks for any help!

jqgrid - edit form field combobox not defaulting to selected row value after first edit

i am using jqgrid with asp.net-mvc. I have an edit form (using jqmodal) which works great but for some reason one combobox field doesn't default to the current selected row after the first time i bring up the edit form. the weird thing is that i have many other comboboxes which work fine every time and i don't see any real difference. here is an example of the field that doesn't work: { name: "TechOwner", index: "TechOwner", width: 70, editable: true, edittype: "select", editoptions: { dataUrl: "/Person/GetSelectData" }, editrules: { required: true} }, and here is a field that works fine: { name: "FundingType", index: "FundingType", align: "left", width: 25, editable: true, edittype: "select", editoptions: { dataUrl: "/Project/FundingGetSelectData" }, editrules: { required: true} }, the dropdown is getting populated with all options (including the current selected row option) but its just defaulting to the top item) instead of one that matches the current row. is there anything to look out for here that may cause this behavior?

Escaping ampersands in URLs for HttpClient requests

So I've got some Java code that uses Jakarta HttpClient like this: URI aURI = new URI( "http://host/index.php?title=" + title + "&action=edit" ); GetMethod aRequest = new GetMethod( aURI.getEscapedPathQuery()); The problem is that if title includes any ampersands (&), they're considered parameter delimiters and the request goes screwy... and if I replace them with the URL-escaped equivalent %26, then this gets double-escaped by getEscapedPathQuery() into %2526. I'm currently working around this by basically repairing the damage afterward: URI aURI = new URI( "http://host/index.php?title=" + title.replace("&", "%26") + "&action=edit" ); GetMethod aRequest = new GetMethod( aURI.getEscapedPathQuery().replace("%2526", "%26")); But there has to be a nicer way to do this, right? Note that the title can contain any number of unpredictable UTF-8 chars etc, so escaping everything else is a requirement.

How can Perl interact with an ajax form

I'm writing a perl program that was doing a simple get command to retrieve results and process them. But the site has been updated and now has a java component that handles the results (so the actual data is not in the source code anymore). This is the site: http://wro.westchesterclerk.com/legalsearch.aspx Try putting in: Index Number: 11103 Year: 2009 I want to be able to pro grammatically enter the "index number" and "year" at the bottom of the form where it says "search by number" and then retrieve the results listed next to it. I've written many programs in Perl that simply pass variables via the URL and the results are listed in the source code, so it's easy to parse. (Using LWP:Simple) Like: $html = get("http://www.url.com?id=$somenum&year=$someyear") But this is totally new to me and I don't know where to begin. I'm somewhat familiar with LWP:UserAgent and Mechanize. I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!
