  • Grouping SQL results by continous time intervals (oracle sql)

    - by Kamil Zadora
    Hi I have following data in the table: ID-----startDate----endDate 5549 2008-05-01 4712-12-31 5567 2008-04-17 2008-04-30 1 5567 2008-05-01 2008-07-31 1 5567 2008-09-01 4712-12-31 2 5569 2008-05-01 2008-08-31 5569 2008-09-01 4712-12-31 5589 2008-04-18 2008-04-30 5589 2008-05-01 4712-12-31 5667 2008-05-01 4712-12-31 5828 2008-06-03 4712-12-31 5867 2008-06-03 4712-12-31 6167 2008-11-01 4712-12-31 6207 2008-07-01 4712-12-31 6228 2008-07-01 4712-12-31 6267 2008-07-14 4712-12-31 I am looking for I way to group the continuous time intervals for each id to return: ID, min(startDate), max(endDate), to have something like this in result for the bolded ID 5567 5567 2008-04-17 2008-07-31 5567 2008-09-01 4712-12-31 PL/SQL is also an option here :) Thanks,

  • Fast ruby http library for large XML downloads

    - by Vlad Zloteanu
I am consuming various XML-over-HTTP web services returning large XML files ( 2MB). What would be the fastest ruby http library to reduce the 'downloading' time? Required features: both GET and POST requests gzip/deflate downloads (Accept-Encoding: deflate, gzip) - very important I am thinking between: open-uri Net::HTTP curb but you can also come with other suggestions. P.S. To parse the response, I am using a pull parser from Nokogiri, so I don't need an integrated solution like rest-client or hpricot.

  • Is I/O Completion ports(Windows) or Asynchronous I/O (AIO) will improve performance of multithreaded

    - by Naga
Hi, I want to use I/O Completion ports for Windows and Asynchronous I/O (AIO) for solaris and Linux versions of my server application. The application server is multithreaded and it can accept lot of concurrent TCP connections and can process many requests per conenction. Every request will be handled by seperate detached thread. Is this criteria well enough to use the latest AIO?. Is there any standardization using which one code can be used to all platforms. Thanks, Naga

  • How to intercept 401 from Forms Authentication in ASP.NET MVC?

    - by Jiho Han
I would like to generate a 401 page if the user does not have the right permission. The user requests a url and is redirected to the login page (I have deny all anonymous in web.config). The user logs in successfully and is redirected to the original url. However, upon permission check, it is determined that the user does not have the required permission, so I would like to generate a 401. But Forms Authentication always handles 401 and redirects the user to the login page. To me, this isn't correct. The user has already authenticated, the user just does not have the proper authorization. In other scenarios, such as in ajax or REST service scenario, I definitely do not want the login page - I need the proper 401 page. So far, I've tried custom Authorize filter to return ViewResult with 401 but didn't work. I then tried a normal Action Filter, overriding OnActionExecuting, which did not work either. What I was able to do is handle an event in global.asax, PostRequestHandlerExecute, and check for the permission then write out directly to response: if (permissionDenied) { Context.Response.StatusCode = 401; Context.Response.Clear(); Context.Response.Write("Permission Denied"); Context.Response.Flush(); Context.Response.Close(); return; } That works but it's not really what I want. First of all, I'm not even sure if that is the right event or the place in the pipeline to do that. Second, I want the 401 page to have a little more content. Preferably, it should be an aspx page with possibly the same master page as the rest of the site. That way, anyone browsing the site can see that the permission is denied but with the same look and feel, etc. but the ajax or service user will get the proper status code to act on. Any idea how this can be achieved? I've seen other posts with similar requests but didn't see a solution that I can use. And no, I do not want a 403.

  • Can I redirect/alias one web service call to another?

    - by Nathan Pitman
I've written a simple PHP nusoap web service for an application and wish to change the name of one of the actions so that it makes more sense. However there is a CD-ROM based application in the wild using this web service and this action and so I need to redirect or alias any incoming requests to the new action... any idea how I might go about doing this?

  • SQLite connection pooling with Fluent NHibernate

    - by Groo
Is there a way to setup SQLite connection pooling using Fluent NHibernate configuration? E.g. equivalent of DataSource=:memory: would be: var sessionFactory = Fluently .Configure() .Database(SQLiteConfiguration.Standard.InMemory) (etc.) Is there something eqivalent to "Pooling=True;Max Pool Size=1;"?

  • Getting my string value from my form into my class( not another form)

    - by jovany
Hello all, I have a question regarding the some data which is being transfered from one form to my class. It's not going quite the way i'd like to , so I figured maybe there is someone who could help me. This is my code in my class Public Class DrawableTextBox Inherits Drawable Dim i_testString As Integer Private s_InsertLabel As String Private drawFont As Font Public Sub New(ByVal fore_color As Color, ByVal fill_color As Color, Optional ByVal line_width As Integer = 0, Optional ByVal new_x1 As Integer = 0, Optional ByVal new_y1 As Integer = 0, Optional ByVal new_x2 As Integer = 1, Optional ByVal new_y2 As Integer = 1) MyBase.New(fore_color, fill_color, line_width) X1 = new_x1 Y1 = new_y1 X2 = new_x2 Y2 = new_y2 Trace.WriteLine(s_InsertLabel) End Sub Friend WriteOnly Property _textBox() As String Set(ByVal Value As String) s_InsertLabel = Value Trace.WriteLine(s_InsertLabel) End Set End Property ' Draw the object on this Graphics surface. Public Overrides Function IsEmpty() As Boolean Return (X1 = X2) AndAlso (Y1 = Y2) End Function End Class I've got a form with a textbox( form1) in which the text is being inserted and passed through a buttonclick (al via properties). As you can see I've placed several traces and in the property of the class my trace works fine , however if I look in my Draw function it is already gone. And I get a blank trace. Does anyone know what's happening here. thanks in advance. (forgive me I'm new )

  • What are the benefits of left outer join vs nested aggregate selects to find the newest rows in a table?

    - by RenderIn
I'm doing: select * from mytable y where y.year = (select max(yi.year) from mytable yi where yi.person = y.person) Is that better or worse from a performance aspect than: select y.* from mytable y left outer join mytable y2 on y.year < y2.year and y.person = y2.person where y2.year is null The explain plan/anecdotal evidence is inconclusive so I am wondering if in general one is better than the other.

  • c#: Clean way to fit a collection into a multidimensional array?

    - by Rosarch
    I have an ICollection<MapNode>. Each MapNode has a Position attribute, which is a Point. I want to sort these points first by Y value, then by X value, and put them in a multidimensional array (MapNode[,]). The collection would look something like this: (30, 20) (20, 20) (20, 30) (30, 10) (30, 30) (20, 10) And the final product: (20, 10) (20, 20) (20, 30) (30, 10) (30, 20) (30, 30) Here is the code I have come up with to do it. Is this hideously unreadable? I feel like it's more hacky than it needs to be. private Map createWorldPathNodes() { ICollection<MapNode> points = new HashSet<MapNode>(); Rectangle worldBounds = WorldQueryUtils.WorldBounds(); for (float x = worldBounds.Left; x < worldBounds.Right; x += PATH_NODE_CHUNK_SIZE) { for (float y = worldBounds.Y; y > worldBounds.Height; y -= PATH_NODE_CHUNK_SIZE) { // default is that everywhere is navigable; // a different function is responsible for determining the real value points.Add(new MapNode(true, new Point((int)x, (int)y))); } } int distinctXValues = points.Select(node => node.Position.X).Distinct().Count(); int distinctYValues = points.Select(node => node.Position.Y).Distinct().Count(); IList<MapNode[]> mapNodeRowsToAdd = new List<MapNode[]>(); while (points.Count > 0) // every iteration will take a row out of points { // get all the nodes with the greatest Y value currently in the collection int currentMaxY = points.Select(node => node.Position.Y).Max(); ICollection<MapNode> ythRow = points.Where(node => node.Position.Y == currentMaxY).ToList(); // remove these nodes from the pool we're picking from points = points.Where(node => ! ythRow.Contains(node)).ToList(); // ToList() is just so it is still a collection // put the nodes with max y value in the array, sorting by X value mapNodeRowsToAdd.Add(ythRow.OrderByDescending(node => node.Position.X).ToArray()); } MapNode[,] mapNodes = new MapNode[distinctXValues, distinctYValues]; int xValuesAdded = 0; int yValuesAdded = 0; foreach (MapNode[] mapNodeRow in mapNodeRowsToAdd) { xValuesAdded = 0; foreach (MapNode node in mapNodeRow) { // [y, x] may seem backwards, but mapNodes[y] == the yth row mapNodes[yValuesAdded, xValuesAdded] = node; xValuesAdded++; } yValuesAdded++; } return pathNodes; } The above function seems to work pretty well, but it hasn't been subjected to bulletproof testing yet.

  • How can I use Mongrel for my non-rails ruby webapp?

    - by aharon
I've got a non-RoR but ruby webapp in the works. So far, I've just been using requests, hacks, and mod_ruby; but I'd really like to try out Mongrel--which seems to work really well for RoR sites. I looked at the examples given in GitHub, and none of them does dynamic changing of content w/o having to restart Mongrel like you can do in RoR under dev mode. How can I do this? (Just using load doesn't work.)

  • Apache: How can i see my localhost on 192.168.1.101 from 192.168.1.102?

    - by takpar
Hi, I'm running Apache on Ubuntu. My IP address is 192.168.1.101 While http://localhost and http://192.168.1.101 work fine in my PC, I cannot access it from within my laptop using http://192.168.1.102 It's strange. I can ping 192.168.1.101 but I got "The connection has timed out." in browser. I'm using default apache config. so this is what my sites-available/default looks like: NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost DocumentRoot /home/www/public_html <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None </Directory> <Directory /home/www/public_html> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews #AllowOverride None AllowOverride all Order allow, deny allow from all </Directory> /etc/apache2/posrts.conf NameVirtualHost *:80 Listen 80 <IfModule mod_ssl.c> # If you add NameVirtualHost *:443 here, you will also have to change # the VirtualHost statement in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl # to <VirtualHost *:443> # Server Name Indication for SSL named virtual hosts is currently not # supported by MSIE on Windows XP. • To jQuery or not to jQuery?

    - by pws5068
I rather enjoy adding practical eye-candy to the networking community I've been developing but as things start to stack up I worry about load times. Is it truly faster to have users load (a hopefully cached) copy of jquery from Google's repositories? Does using jQuery for AJAX calls improve/reduce efficiency over basic javascript xmlHTTP requests? Is there a practical way to cut down the number of included scripts? For example, I include jQuery and jQuery UI from google, table sorter, and a growl plug-in.

  • Structs, strtok, segmentation fault

    - by FILIaS
I'm trying to make a programme with structs and files. The following is just a part of my code(it;s not all). What i'm trying to do is: ask the user to write his command. eg. delete John eg. enter John James 5000 ipad purchase. The problem is that I want to split the command in order to save its 'args' for a struct element. That's why i used strtok. BUT I'm facing another problem in who to 'put' these on the struct. #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #define MAX 100 char command[1500]; struct catalogue { char short_name[50]; char surname[50]; signed int amount; char description[1000]; }*catalog[MAX]; int main ( int argc, char *argv[] ) { int i,n; char choice[3]; printf(">sort1: Print savings sorted by surname\n"); printf(">sort2: Print savings sorted by amount\n"); printf(">search+name:Print savings of each name searched\n"); printf(">delete+full_name+amount: Erase saving\n"); printf(">enter+full_name+amount+description: Enter saving \n"); printf(">quit: Update + EXIT program.\n"); printf("Choose your selection:\n>"); gets(command); //it save the whole command /*in choice it;s saved only the first 2 letters(needed for menu choice again)*/ strncpy(choice,command,2); choice[2]='\0'; char** args = (char**)malloc(strlen(command)*sizeof(char*)); memset(args, 0, sizeof(char*)*strlen(command)); char* curToken = strtok(command, " \t"); for (n = 0; curToken != NULL; ++n) { args[n] = strdup(curToken); curToken = strtok(NULL, " \t"); *catalog[n]->short_name=*args[1]; *catalog[n]->surname=args[2]; catalog[n]->amount=atoi(args[3]); *catalog[n]->description=args[4]; } return 0; } I get a warning (warning: assignment makes integer from pointer without a cast) for the lines: *catalog[n]->short_name=*args[1]; *catalog[n]->surname=args[2]; *catalog[n]->description=args[4]; As a result, after running the program i get a Segmentation Fault... Any help? Any ideas?

  • Why does "request.getUserPrincipal().getName()" sometimes return a blank string?

    - by Marcus
Has somebody an idea, why the getName method of the requests getUserPrincipal Method sometimes provides an empty String? Most of the time it returns the correct user name but not every time. This behaviour does occur randonmly. I can start the application, run the command and it works. The next time I start the application and run the command (exactly the same way as before!) it does not work... Any ideas?

  • Webserver parsing chrome input from post request

  • Is it a good idea to mock/stub in integration tests?

    - by ez
Say there are multiple requests in a integration test, some of them are sphinx calls(locator for example). Should we just stub out the entire response of these sphinx call, or, since it is a integration test, we want to excise the entire test without stubbing. If that is the case, how do we still keep test independent in the situation when sphinx fails, no internet connection, or third party server non-responsive. Give reasons. Thanks

Hey guys. I am writing an App using JTwitter however I need to authenticate in order to not have the 150 requests per minute on the public api. Jtwitter seems to support OAuth however I have some questions. My app will be running behind a company firewall - so the URL wont be accessible outside of the company's network - will callback authorisation work, and does anybody have an example of using callback authorisation using OAuth in JTwitter - because I cannot work it out in order to try it. Cheers, Andy
