  I have a WPF VB.NET project in Visual Studio 2008. For some reason, Visual Studio thinks that it needs to add an Imports MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins to every auto-generated XAML partial class (= the nameOfXamlFile.g.vb files), resulting in the following warning: warning BC40056: Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases. I can remove the Imports line, but, since this is an auto-generated file, it reappears every time that the project is rebuilt. This warning message is annoying and clutters my error list. Is ther something that can be done about it? Or is it a known bug?

• Example WCF XML-RPC client C# code against custom XML-RPC server implementation?

  I have built my own little custom XML-RPC server, and since I'd like to keep things simple, on both server and client side (server side PHP runs, by the way), what I would like to accomplish is to create a simplest possible client in C# using WCF. Let's say that Contract for service exposed via XML-RPC is as follows. [ServiceContract] public interface IContract { [OperationContract(Action="Ping")] string Ping(); // server returns back string "Pong" [OperationContract(Action="Echo")] string Echo(string message); // server echoes back whatever message is } So, there are two example methods, one without any arguments, and another with simple string argument, both returning strings (just for sake of example). Service is exposed via http. What's next? Thanks for reading! P.S. I have done my homework of googling around for samples and similar, but all that I could come up with are some blog-related samples that use existing (and very big) classes, which implement correct IContract (or IBlogger) interfaces, so that most of what I am interested is hidden below several layers of abstraction...

• Html.EditorFor, Html.DisplayFor not working on MVC1.0 -> MVC2.0 manual migration

  Has anyone encountered this problem? I manually migrated a MVC1.0 application to MVC2.0 and everything so far seems to be working fine. Today I wanted to try out the Html.EditorFor helper and it doesn't render the template. I set it up the same way in a fresh MVC2.0 application and the template does render. Is there anything other (or specifically needed when mirgrating to activate this behavior) than throwing the partial view like DateTime.ascx into Views/Shared/EditorTemplates and using the helper methods to render the model objects? I'm stumped.

• Loading any MVC page fails with the error "An item with the same key has already been added."

  I am having an intermittent issue that is appearing on one server only, and is causing all MVC pages to fail to load with the error "An item with the same key has already been added." • MVC repository pattern design decision

  I have an asp .net MVC application and recently started implementing the repository pattern with a service validation layer, much like this. I've been creating one repository/service for each model that I create. Is this overkill? Instead, should I create one repository/service for each logical business area that provides CRUD for many different models? To me, it seems like I'm either cluttering the project tree with many files or cluttering a class with many methods. 6 one way half dozen the other. Can you think of any good arguments either way?

• Silverlight MouseLeftButtonDown event not firing

  For the life of me, I can not get this to work. I can get MouseEnter, MouseLeave, and Click events to fire, but not MouseLeftButtonDown or MouseLeftButtonUp.   Hi everybody, I have a problem with my pre-commit hook. This hook test if a file is locked when the user commits. When a bad condition happens, it should output that the another user is locking this file or if nobody is locking, it should show "you are not locking this file message (file´s name)". The error happens when the file´s name has some latin character like "ç" and tortoise show me this in the output.   i'm using linq-to-sql and i'm use complied linq for better performance. I have a users table with a INT field called "LookingFor" that can have the following values.1,2,3,12,123,13,23. I wrote a query to return the users based on the "lookingFor" column i want to return all users that contains the "lookingFor" value (not only those equal to it).   I am trying to compile Nginx from source based on the original compiled Nginx server running on my DigitalOcean server ( Ubuntu-14.04 64x ) but with a few extra modules. I can get everything installed smoothly but I can not get it to start. I am sure the ini is correct because I copied the original source off the current running Nginx server [ Even though I see that Nginx now adds the ini when compiling fron source ]. And now to start the server: service nginx start And this is where s#!+ hits the fan - Nada. I check to see if Nginx is running with service --status-all and its not. Also with nginx -V and its not installed??? I reboot the system too and still nothing. So I am not sure what is wrong here. The ini was copied over from the old server along with all the other config files after deleting the old files. When I opened the new compiled files, the nginx default data was present so I replaced them with my old original data prior to starting the new server for the first time. Also to be safe, I rm /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default and symlinked with ln -s /etc/nginx/sites-available/default /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default with no errors and I verified that the data was in the sites-enabled/default file. I don't think the server really/fully installed because of the nginx -V result: The program 'nginx' can be found in the following packages: * nginx-core * nginx-extras * nginx-full * nginx-light * nginx-naxsi Try: apt-get install <selected package> Do/should I apt-get install nginx-1.7.4 ?? Or what package do I use being that its a custom package and make install earlier did nothing?? If you need to see the conf files I copied over from the old to the custom server, LMK and I'll post them. Again your help here would be appreciated!

What I would like to do is something like: var mockUserLog = new Mock<UserLog>(); mockUserLog.Setup(c=>c.UserProfile.FirstName).Returns("Fred"); etc I can do this if I go into the designer.cs and make FirstName and UserProfile virtual, however I would like to do this in the partial class.   I was evaluating jQuery plugins to make a Drupal 7 site using AJAX everywhere. I have been using ajaxy. But it does not seem to be very actively maintained. Two possible solutions I have found are pjax and djax. What are your experiences with those plugins? What other plugins do you know that do similar functionality? Very important features are SEO friendliness (preferably using pushState so no hash is being used. Hashes are used as a fallback for not supported browsers.). And also has to be very flexible since it has to wirk with Drupal's HTML structure.

• Is there any replication standard or concept for application server data replication

  Hi friends, Say, I have a server that handles file based mass data and can process thousands of read requests and hundreds of provisioning requests(Add, modify, delete) per second. This is not SQL based database. Now i planned to implement replication. There should be master- master replication, master slave replication, partial replication(entries matching a criteria) and fractional replication(part of an entry). Is there any standard for implementing such replication mechanisms? Can you please suggest some solution overview? Thanks, Naga

• Why does Mac OS X Software Update not work when machine uses Active Directory?

  My company's IT department is mostly a Windows run operation and in order to become more secure, they are altering the way that the Macintosh computers login to our internal network so that they use Active Directory like their Windows counterparts. I have been given Administrative permission on my Mac and I am able to do most of what I used to be able to do in terms of authentication of software installations. However, there is a problem: the "Software Update" feature doesn't work. What happens is that when I try to get the Mac to perform its Software Updates from the Apple menu, the normal window appears listing what has to be updated; I am able to select what to update and click the "Update" button, but then nothing happens. It doesn't ask for authentication like it used to, the computer doesn't perform any download or installation (it does sometimes ask me to agree to license agreements for iTunes). I can download the updates individually and install them without any issues, but the auto-update fails. I'd rather use the Software Update menu item like I used to: it is much more convenient. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? EDIT Nov 19th, 2009, 10:09 EST: I have posted this question to the Apple Mac OS X Snow Leopard support forum. EDIT Nov 19th, 2009, 12:39 EST:Yes, the Terminal command "sudo softwareupdate --install --all" does work flawlessly. I want to avoid that as my co-workers are generally not comfortable on the Mac. I also tried Chealion's suggestion to delete "~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist" and "/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist", Software Update still fails. However, I did get diagnostic messages in the Console (below). I've deleted the MS Office Package Receipts and examined the suhelperd (Software Update Helper Daemon?); it appears that suhelperd is crashing and that explains why it doesn't work. I've submitted a bug report to Apple (radar://7408619). • Beginner learning assembly preserving esp after function calls

  I'm a beginner learning some assembly, when preserving the ESP register before a function call does it matter if you do it by adding or subtracting? hard to explain, consider the following mov esi, esp sub esp, 12 // on 32bit OS this would mean that there are 3 arguments to the function // push, function call etc cmp esi, esp // should be the same or mov esi, esp // push, function call etc add esp, 12 cmp esi, esp // should be the same Also if for some reason the cmp fails, is it safe to do mov esp, esi to re-align the stack? Thanks EDIT: Also how come i need to do this for a call like sprintf, but MessageBox seems to fix ESP for me? How am i to know what function needs this and what doesn't?

  I have a page here with a few list views on it that are all bound to Linq data sources and they seem to be working just fine. I want to add validation such that when a checkbox (IsVoid on the object) is checked, comments must be entered (VoidedComments on the object). Here's the bound object's OnValidate method: partial void OnValidate(ChangeAction action) { if (action == ChangeAction.Update) { if (_IsVoid) { string comments = this.VoidedComments; if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(this._VoidedComments)) { throw new ValidationException("Voided Comments are Required to Void an Error"); } } } } Despite there being a dynamic validator on the page referencing the same ValidationGroup as the dynaimc control, when the exception fires, it's caught in JavaScript and the debugger wants to break in. The message is never delivered to the UI as expected. Any thoughts as to What's going on?

  Hi, in this article about boost spirit semantic actions it is mentioned that There are actually 2 more arguments being passed: the parser context and a reference to a boolean ‘hit’ parameter. The parser context is meaningful only if the semantic action is attached somewhere to the right hand side of a rule. We will see more information about this shortly. The boolean value can be set to false inside the semantic action invalidates the match in retrospective, making the parser fail. All fine, but i've been trying to find an example passing a function object as semantic action that uses the other parameters (parser context and hit boolean) but i haven't found any. I would love to see an example using regular functions or function objects, as i barely can grok the phoenix voodoo

• JSF 2 equivalent of tomahawk subform

  I have an existing JSF 1.2 app that was a portlet running on glassfish v2. I'm converting it to a webapp running on glassfish v3. The app uses tomahawk subforms in several areas. Tomahawk has not been update for JSF 2, which is what ships with glassfish v3. We would like to update our app to JSF 2. Is there a JSF 2 equivalent to tomahawk's subform? I know one option would be to change all of the subforms to be ajax enabled and use the execute attribute to specify which controls take part in the form submission, but would like to make this as straight across as I can without modifying existing functionality if I can. So, lacking a tomahawk subform substitute, is there any way to specify partial form submission for non ajax events?
