  • Can't login to Windows server 2008 (as any user, not even locally, not in safe mode but I have right credentials)

    - by Saix
    Just from nowhere I can't login to my Windows server 2008 machine. All the services like FTP server or webserver (which I'm actually not using, just remote desktop and FTP) are running. Whatever credentials I try (even/especialy administrator), it always says Unknown Username or bad password. I have already tried hard turn off/on and safe mode without luck. Also I already tried type in login name as SERVER NAME\user or Workgroup\user (every case sensitive scenario), still says I have wrong login. Usually we are using remote desktop to access the machine but local access over KVM doesn't work either. Now I'm lock out of any control or any way to do something. There's just logon screen preceding by ctrl+alt+del to login alert. Without me able to login I can't actually try to fix anything. Can't find much more on Internet except the SERVER NAME\user thing. Reinstall would be the last resort but I can't let things this way for much longer anyway. This server is vital. If it would be any help, I think automatic Windows updates are turned off and there were no updates or newly installed software for last couple years and just few soft restarts, non of them recently. It happened during it's runtime while all other services were still up and running, so this couldn't be just some Windows nasty screw up during boot or something. What could have possibly changed? What are my options now?

  • WhatsApp &amp; Tasker for Android &ndash; Read &amp; Write messages

    - by Shaurya Anand
    So, I finally gave up on all my previous the Microsoft Mobile/Phone OS devices and made my switch to Android this year. I am using my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with CyanogenMod 9.1.0 (http://get.cm/get/jenkins/7086/cm-9.1.0-n7000.zip) and ClockworkMod 6.0.1.2 (http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-n7000.zip) since August this year and I am so happy with the performance and the flexibility it offers me. As a software developer by profession, I would expect most of my gadget to be highly customizable and programmable (one time or at intervals) to suit my needs as close as it can. I was introduced to Automation for Android – Tasker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en) via reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/tasker) and the word ‘automation’ was enough for me to dive right into this app. Only automation that I did earlier was switching profiles depending on location on there phones. And now, just imagine a complete set of possibilities that can be automate on the phone or via the phone. I did my research and found a couple of other tools that do the same/as close as what Tasker can do and few of them are even free. There’s one even by Microsoft called on{X} (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.onx.app&hl=en). Microsoft’s on{X} really caught my eye. You can write code for your phone on the web application by them, deploy it on your phone and even trace the flow all using your PC. Really brilliant, I love the fact that it’s all JavaScript. Here comes the but, it is still very very young and it’s policy of accessing my News Feed on Facebook is not something that I can not digest. On{X} is good, but as I said earlier, the API is not very mature and hence, I gave up on it. I bought Tasker, the best 5,00 € I spent in ages and I want to talk about it in this post. I am still a “noob” while operating this tool, but I tried my shot at automating WhatsApp (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp&hl=en), a popular messenger for various platform. The requirement for the automation is that, if I send a WhatsApp ‘wru’ message to the phone, it should respond back giving the location and battery level of my phone. It could be useful, if you like to locate your misplaced phone or automatically reply to your partner/friend, honestly, I don’t know what you will use it - through this post, I am just introducing automating WhatsApp using Tasker. Before we begin, the following script only works when your phone is rooted as we will be accessing the WhatsApp database and type some special characters like ‘:’. Let’s follow the code line by line: Profile:         Location request from XYZ. (12) // Name of your profile. Event:         Notification [ Owner Application:WhatsApp Title:* ] // When a new notification comes from WhatsApp, this event is fired. Read the end note, if you face problems with Chrome app after enabling Tasker accessibility. Enter:         A1: Run Shell [ Command:sqlite3 // We will access the WhatsApp database and check if the message comes from designated phone number or not. We mustn’t reply to every message.                 /data/data/com.whatsapp/databases/msgstore.db "SELECT _id, data FROM                  messages WHERE key_from_me='0' AND key_remote_jid LIKE '%XXXXXXXXXXX%' // Replace XXXXXXXXXXX with the phone number of your message sender.                 ORDER BY _id DESC LIMIT 1;" Timeout (Seconds):10 Use Root:On Store // I made a timeout for 10 seconds, if in case WhatsApp is busy accessing the database.                 Result In:%WHATSAPP_CURRREQ ] // Store the read Id and the last message on to the variable %WHATSAPP_CURRREQ         A2: If [ %WHATSAPP_CURRREQ ~R .*[wW][rR][uU].* ] // Check if the pattern of the message is correct and we are all set to send the location.                 A3: If [ %WHATSAPP_CURRREQ !~ %WHATSAPP_LASTREQ ] // Verify that the message is different from the last request. Remember every message has a unique Id.                         A4: Notify [ Title:WhatsApp location request... Text:Sending location // Just a notification that the location message is being prepared.                                 to Krati Gupta... Icon:<icon> Number:0 Permanent:Off Priority:3 ]                                                         A27: Secure Settings [ Configuration:GPS Disabled // Disable all the horrible things we turned on earlier.                                 Package:com.intangibleobject.securesettings.plugin Name:Secure                                 Settings ]                         A28: Secure Settings [ Configuration:Pattern Lock Enabled                                 Package:com.intangibleobject.securesettings.plugin Name:Secure                                 Settings ]                         A29: Secure Settings [ Configuration:Keyguard Enabled                                 Package:com.intangibleobject.securesettings.plugin Name:Secure                                 Settings ]                 A30: End If         A31: End If Download this Task from here: http://db.tt/9vRmbhyb That’s it in the above small example – you can read/write messages from/to WhatsApp app. I am using n7000-cm9.1-cwr6. Oh yea, and if you are having the Talkback auto enabled for Chrome browser, you need to turn Off the Web scripts to run. Tasker is amazing, I have automated a lot of tasks using this tool. I will share a few none generic ones with you in my coming post here.

  • HTML + javascript mouse over, mouseout, onclick not working in firefox.

    - by help_inmssql
    Hello Everyone, My question is to get onMouseover,onMouseout,onMousedown,onClick on a table row. For which i am calling javascript userdefined functions. onMouseover --- Background color should change. onMouseout --- Reset to original color onClick --- First column checkbox/radio button should be set and background color should change onMousedown --- background color should change. My code in html is:- <tr onMouseOver="hover(this)" onMouseOut="hover_out(this)" onMouseDown="get_first_state(this)" onClick="checkit(this)" > and the methods in javascripts are:- var first_state = false; var oldcol = '#ffffff'; var oldcol_cellarray = new Array(); function hover(element) { if (! element) element = this; while (element.tagName != 'TR') { element = element.parentNode; } if (element.style.fontWeight != 'bold') { for (var i = 0; i<element.cells.length; i++) { if (element.cells[i].className != "no_hover") { oldcol_cellarray[i] = element.cells[i].style.backgroundColor; element.cells[i].style.backgroundColor='#e6f6f6'; } } } } // ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- function hover_out(element) { if (! element) element = this; while (element.tagName != 'TR') { element = element.parentNode; } if (element.style.fontWeight != 'bold') { for (var i = 0; i<element.cells.length; i++) { if (element.cells[i].className != "no_hover") { if (typeof oldcol_cellarray != undefined) { element.cells[i].style.backgroundColor=oldcol_cellarray[i]; } else { element.cells[i].style.backgroundColor='#ffffff'; } //var oldcol_cellarray = new Array(); } } } } // ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- function get_first_state(element) { while (element.tagName != 'TR') { element = element.parentNode; } first_state = element.cells[0].firstChild.checked; } // ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- function checkit (element) { while (element.tagName != 'TR') { element = element.parentNode; } if (element.cells[0].firstChild.type == 'radio') { var typ = 0; } else if (element.cells[0].firstChild.type == 'checkbox') { typ = 1; } if (element.cells[0].firstChild.checked == true && typ == 1) { if (element.cells[0].firstChild.checked == first_state) { element.cells[0].firstChild.checked = false; } set_rowstyle(element, element.cells[0].firstChild.checked); } else { if (typ == 0 || element.cells[0].firstChild.checked == first_state) { element.cells[0].firstChild.checked = true; } set_rowstyle(element, element.cells[0].firstChild.checked); } if (typ == 0) { var table = element.parentNode; if (table.tagName != "TABLE") { table = table.parentNode; } if (table.tagName == "TABLE") { table=table.tBodies[0].rows; //var table = document.getElementById("js_tb").tBodies[0].rows; for (var i = 1; i< table.length; i++) { if (table[i].cells[0].firstChild.checked == true && table[i] != element) { table[i].cells[0].firstChild.checked = false; } if (table[i].cells[0].firstChild.checked == false) { set_rowstyle(table[i], false); } } } } } function set_rowstyle(r, on) { if (on == true) { for (var i =0; i < r.cells.length; i++) { r.style.fontWeight = 'bold'; r.cells[i].style.backgroundColor = '#f2f2c2'; } } else { for ( i =0; i < r.cells.length; i++) { r.style.fontWeight = 'normal'; r.cells[i].style.backgroundColor = '#ffffff'; } } } It is working as expected in IE. But coming to firefox i am surprised on seeing the output after so much of coding. In Firefox:-- onMouseOver is working as expected. color change of that particular row. onClick -- Setting the background color permenantly..eventhough i do onmouseover on different rows. the clicked row color is not reset to white. -- not as expected onclick on 2 rows..the background of both the rows is set...not as expected i.e if i click on all the rows..background color of everything is changed... Eventhough i click on the row. First column i.e radio button or checkbox is not set.. Please help me to solve this issue in firefox. Do let me know where my code needs to be changed...   • When I get the Force Close dialog, I have a Report button. Where did it come from?

    - by BenTobin
    I feel a little bit silly asking this, but I haven't been able to find any answers on my own. My Force Close dialog has a "Report" button. I think it's a great idea, and I wish everyone had it. At first, I thought it must be something I turned on without realizing it, but not only can't I find any setting that I might have touched, I also can't find any reference to this button existing on the Internet. I have a Droid, and I know 4 other people with Droids, and they say they don't have the option to report Force Closes. Am I special? Am I just missing something? The "report" button has been there for at least a few weeks now. When I use the Report button, I get a screen with a "feedback" field and a checkbox for "Include system data". Below that , it says "Information from feedback reports will be shown to the developer of the application." Under that are Preview and Send buttons. As a developer, I've never received one of these reports. I'd try to send a report to myself, but it seemingly only shows the button for apps installed from the market, and I don't know of a way to crash my production app. I suppose I could publish a simple crashing app just to try it out, but I thought I'd ask you folks first. Edit: You can view screenshots here: http://bentobin.com/crashReportImages/

  • Change The Windows 7 Start Orb the Easy Way

    - by Matthew Guay
    Want to make your Windows 7 PC even more unique and personalized?  Then check out this easy guide on how to change your start orb in Windows 7. Getting Started First, download the free Windows 7 Start Button Changer (link below), and extract the contents of the folder.  It contains the app along with a selection of alternate start button orbs you can try out.   Before changing the start button, we advise creating a system restore point in case anything goes wrong.  Enter System Restore in your Start menu search, and select “Create a restore point”. Please note:  We tested this on both the 32 bit and 64 bit editions of Windows 7, and didn’t encounter any problems or stability issues.  That said, it is always prudent to make a restore point just in case a problem did happen. Click the Create button… Then enter a name for the restore point, and click Create. Changing the Start Orb. Once this is finished, run the Windows 7 Start Button Changer as administrator by right-clicking on it and selecting “Run as administrator”.  Accept the UAC prompt that will appear. If you don’t run it as an administrator, you may see the following warning.  Click Quit, and then run again as administrator. You should now see the Windows 7 Start Button Changer.  On the left it shows what your current (default) start orb looks like inactive, when hovered over, and when selected.  Click the orb on the right to select a new start button. Here we browsed to the sample orbs folder, and selected one of them.  Let’s give Windows the Media Center orb for a start orb.  Click the orb you want, and then select open. When you click Open, your screen will momentarily freeze and your taskbar will disappear.  When it reappears, your computer will have gone from having the old, default Start orb style… …to your new, exciting Start orb!  Here it is default, and glowing when hovered over. Now, the Windows 7 Start Orb Changer will change, and show your new Start orb on the left side.  If you would like to revert to the default orb, simply click the folder icon to restore it.  Or, if you would like to change the orb again, restore the original first and then select a new one. The orbs don’t have to be round; here’s a fancy Windows 7 logo as the start button. The start orb change will work in the Aero and Aero basic (which Windows 7 Start uses) themes, but will not show up in the classic, Windows 2000 style themes.  Here’s how the new start button looks with the Aero Classic theme: There are tons of orbs available, including this cute smiley, so choose one that you like to make your computer uniquely yours. Conclusion This is a cute way to make your desktop unique, and can be a great way to make a truly personalized theme.  Let us know your favorite Start orb! • Building on someone else's DefaultButton Silverlight work...

    - by KyleBurns
    This week I was handed a "simple" requirement - have a search screen execute its search when the user pressed the Enter key instead of having to move hands from keyboard to mouse and click Search.  That is a reasonable request that has been met for years both in Windows and Web apps.  I did a quick scan for code to pilfer and found Patrick Cauldwell's Blog posting "A 'Default Button' In Silverlight".  This posting was a great start and I'm glad that the basic work had been done for me, but I ran into one issue - when using bound textboxes (I'm a die-hard MVVM enthusiast when it comes to Silverlight development), the search was being executed before the textbox I was in when the Enter key was pressed updated its bindings.  With a little bit of reflection work, I think I have found a good generic solution that builds upon Patrick's to make it more binding-friendly.  Also, I wanted to set the DefaultButton at a higher level than on each TextBox (or other control for that matter), so the use of mine is intended to be set somewhere such as the LayoutRoot or other high level control and will apply to all controls beneath it in the control tree.  I haven't tested this on controls that treat the Enter key special themselves in the mix. The real change from Patrick's solution here is that in the KeyUp event, I grab the source of the KeyUp event (in my case the textbox containing search criteria) and loop through the static fields on the element's type looking for DependencyProperty instances.  When I find a DependencyProperty, I grab the value and query for bindings.  Each time I find a binding, UpdateSource is called to make sure anything bound to any property of the field has the opportunity to update before the action represented by the DefaultButton is executed. Here's the code: public class DefaultButtonService { public static DependencyProperty DefaultButtonProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached("DefaultButton", typeof (Button), typeof (DefaultButtonService), new PropertyMetadata (null, DefaultButtonChanged)); private static void DefaultButtonChanged(DependencyObject d, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e) { var uiElement = d as UIElement; var button = e.NewValue as Button; if (uiElement != null && button != null) { uiElement.KeyUp += (sender, arg) => { if (arg.Key == Key.Enter) { var element = arg.OriginalSource as FrameworkElement; if (element != null) { UpdateBindings(element); } if (button.IsEnabled) { button.Focus(); var peer = new ButtonAutomationPeer(button); var invokeProv = peer.GetPattern(PatternInterface.Invoke) as IInvokeProvider; if (invokeProv != null) invokeProv.Invoke(); arg.Handled = true; } } }; } } public static DefaultButtonService GetDefaultButton(UIElement obj) { return (DefaultButtonService) obj.GetValue(DefaultButtonProperty); } public static void SetDefaultButton(DependencyObject obj, DefaultButtonService button) { obj.SetValue(DefaultButtonProperty, button); } public static void UpdateBindings(FrameworkElement element) { element.GetType().GetFields(BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Static).ForEach(field => { if (field.FieldType.IsAssignableFrom(typeof(DependencyProperty))) { try { var dp = field.GetValue(null) as DependencyProperty; if (dp != null) { var binding = element.GetBindingExpression(dp); if (binding != null) { binding.UpdateSource(); } } } // ReSharper disable EmptyGeneralCatchClause catch (Exception) // ReSharper restore EmptyGeneralCatchClause { // swallow exceptions } } }); } }

  • socket operation on nonsocket or bad file descriptor

    - by Magn3s1um
    I'm writing a pthread server which takes requests from clients and sends them back a bunch of .ppm files. Everything seems to go well, but sometimes when I have just 1 client connected, when trying to read from the file descriptor (for the file), it says Bad file Descriptor. This doesn't make sense, since my int fd isn't -1, and the file most certainly exists. Other times, I get this "Socket operation on nonsocket" error. This is weird because other times, it doesn't give me this error and everything works fine. When trying to connect multiple clients, for some reason, it will only send correctly to one, and then the other client gets the bad file descriptor or "nonsocket" error, even though both threads are processing the same messages and do the same routines. Anyone have an idea why? Here's the code that is giving me that error: while(mqueue.head != mqueue.tail && count < dis_m){ printf("Sending to client %s: %s\n", pointer->id, pointer->message); int fd; fd = open(pointer->message, O_RDONLY); char buf[58368]; int bytesRead; printf("This is fd %d\n", fd); bytesRead=read(fd,buf,58368); send(pointer->socket,buf,bytesRead,0); perror("Error:\n"); fflush(stdout); close(fd); mqueue.mcount--; mqueue.head = mqueue.head->next; free(pointer->message); free(pointer); pointer = mqueue.head; count++; } printf("Sending %s\n", pointer->message); int fd; fd = open(pointer->message, O_RDONLY); printf("This is fd %d\n", fd); printf("I am hhere2\n"); char buf[58368]; int bytesRead; bytesRead=read(fd,buf,58368); send(pointer->socket,buf,bytesRead,0); perror("Error:\n"); close(fd); mqueue.mcount--; if(mqueue.head != mqueue.tail){ mqueue.head = mqueue.head->next; } else{ mqueue.head->next = malloc(sizeof(struct message)); mqueue.head = mqueue.head->next; mqueue.head->next = malloc(sizeof(struct message)); mqueue.tail = mqueue.head->next; mqueue.head->message = NULL; } free(pointer->message); free(pointer); pthread_mutex_unlock(&numm); pthread_mutex_unlock(&circ); pthread_mutex_unlock(&slots); The messages for both threads are the same, being of the form ./path/imageXX.ppm where XX is the number that should go to the client. The file size of each image is 58368 bytes. Sometimes, this code hangs on the read, and stops execution. I don't know this would be either, because the file descriptor comes back as valid. Thanks in advanced. The socket that is opened when a new client connects, must be passed to the threads. To do this, we need some sort of global array. I did this by specifying an int client and main_pool_busy, and two pointers poolsockets and nonpoolsockets. My thinking on this was that when a new client enters the system, the server thread increments the variable client. When a thread is finished with this client (after it sends it the data), the thread will decrement client and close the socket. HTTP servers act this way sometimes (they terminate the socket as soon as one transmission is sent). *Note down at bottom After the server portion increments the client counter, we must open up a new socket (denoted by new_sd) and get this value to the appropriate thread. To do this, I created global array poolsockets, which will hold all the socket descriptors for our pooled threads. The server portion gets the new socket descriptor, and places the value in the first spot of the array that has a 0. We only place a value in this array IF: 1. The variable main_pool_busy < worknum (If we have more clients in the system than in our pool, it doesn't mean we should always create a new thread. At the end of this, the server signals on the condition variable clientin that a new client has arrived. In our pooled thread, we then must walk this array and check the array until we hit our first non-zero value. This is the socket we will give to that thread. The thread then changes the array to have a zero here. What if our all threads in our pool our busy? If this is the case, then we will know it because our threads in this pool will increment main_pool_busy by one when they are working on a request and decrement it when they are done. If main_pool_busy >= worknum, then we must dynamically create a new thread. Then, we must realloc the size of our nonpoolsockets array by 1 int. We then add the new socket descriptor to our pool. Here's what we need to figure out: NOTE* Each worker should generate 100 messages which specify the worker thread ID, client socket descriptor and a copy of the client message. Additionally, each message should include a message number, starting from 0 and incrementing for each subsequent message sent to the same client. I don't know how to keep track of how many messages were to the same client. Maybe we shouldn't close the socket descriptor, but rather keep an array of structs for each socket that includes how many messages they have been sent. Then, the server adds the struct, the threads remove it, then the threads add it back once they've serviced one request (unless the count is 100). ------------------------------------------------------------- CHANGES Version 1 ---------- NONE: this is the first version. */ #define MAXSLOTS 30 #define dis_m 15 //problems with dis_m ==1 //Function prototypes void inc_clients(); void init_mutex_stuff(pthread_t*, pthread_t*); void *threadpool(void *); void server(int); void add_to_socket_pool(int); void inc_busy(); void dec_busy(); void *dispatcher(); void create_message(long, int, int, char *, char *); void init_ring(); void add_to_ring(char *, char *, int, int, int); int socket_from_string(char *); void add_to_head(char *); void add_to_tail(char *); struct message * reorder(struct message *, struct message *, int); int get_threadid(char *); void delete_socket_messages(int); struct message * merge(struct message *, struct message *, int); int get_request(char *, char *, char*); ///////////////////// //Global mutexes and condition variables pthread_mutex_t startservice; pthread_mutex_t numclients; pthread_mutex_t pool_sockets; pthread_mutex_t nonpool_sockets; pthread_mutex_t m_pool_busy; pthread_mutex_t slots; pthread_mutex_t numm; pthread_mutex_t circ; pthread_cond_t clientin; pthread_cond_t m; /////////////////////////////////////// //Global variables int clients; int main_pool_busy; int * poolsockets, nonpoolsockets; int worknum; struct ring mqueue; /////////////////////////////////////// int main(int argc, char ** argv){ //error handling if not enough arguments to program if(argc != 3){ printf("Not enough arguments to server: ./server portnum NumThreadsinPool\n"); _exit(-1); } //Convert arguments from strings to integer values int port = atoi(argv[1]); worknum = atoi(argv[2]); //Start server portion server(port); } /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //The listen server thread///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// void server(int port){ int sd, new_sd; struct sockaddr_in name, cli_name; int sock_opt_val = 1; int cli_len; pthread_t threads[worknum]; //create our pthread id array pthread_t dis[1]; //create our dispatcher array (necessary to create thread) init_mutex_stuff(threads, dis); //initialize mutexes and stuff //Server setup /////////////////////////////////////////////////////// if ((sd = socket (AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0)) < 0) { perror("(servConn): socket() error"); _exit (-1); } if (setsockopt (sd, SOL_SOCKET, SO_REUSEADDR, (char *) &sock_opt_val, sizeof(sock_opt_val)) < 0) { perror ("(servConn): Failed to set SO_REUSEADDR on INET socket"); _exit (-1); } name.sin_family = AF_INET; name.sin_port = htons (port); name.sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY); if (bind (sd, (struct sockaddr *)&name, sizeof(name)) < 0) { perror ("(servConn): bind() error"); _exit (-1); } listen (sd, 5); //End of server Setup ////////////////////////////////////////////////// for (;;) { cli_len = sizeof (cli_name); new_sd = accept (sd, (struct sockaddr *) &cli_name, &cli_len); printf ("Assigning new socket descriptor: %d\n", new_sd); inc_clients(); //New client has come in, increment clients add_to_socket_pool(new_sd); //Add client to the pool of sockets if (new_sd < 0) { perror ("(servConn): accept() error"); _exit (-1); } } pthread_exit(NULL); //Quit } //Adds the new socket to the array designated for pthreads in the pool void add_to_socket_pool(int socket){ pthread_mutex_lock(&m_pool_busy); //Lock so that we can check main_pool_busy int i; //If not all our main pool is busy, then allocate to one of them if(main_pool_busy < worknum){ pthread_mutex_unlock(&m_pool_busy); //unlock busy, we no longer need to hold it pthread_mutex_lock(&pool_sockets); //Lock the socket pool array so that we can edit it without worry for(i = 0; i < worknum; i++){ //Find a poolsocket that is -1; then we should put the real socket there. • How to use jQuery to assign a class to only one radio button in a group when user clicks on it?

    - by xraminx
    I have the following markup. I would like to add class_A to <p class="subitem-text"> (that holds the radio button and the label) when user clicks on the <input> or <label>. If user clicks some other radio-button/label in the same group, I would like to add class_A to this radio-button's parent paragraph and remove class_A from any other paragraph that hold radio-buttons/labels in that group. • Building a modular Website with Zend Framework: Am I on the right way?

    - by Oliver
    Hi, i´m a little bit confused by reading all this posts an tutorials about staring with Zend, because there a so many different ways to solve a problem. I only need a feedback about my code to know if iam on the right way: To simply get a (hard coded) Navigation for my side (depending on who is logged in) i build a Controller Plugin with a postDispatch method that holds following code: public function postDispatch(Zend_Controller_Request_Abstract $request) { $menu = new Menu(); //Render menu in menu.phtml $view = new Zend_View(); //NEW view -> add View Helper $prefix = 'My_View_Helper'; $dir = dirname(__FILE__).'/../../View/Helper/'; $view->addHelperPath($dir,$prefix); $view->setScriptPath('../application/default/views/scripts/menu'); $view->menu = $menu->getMenu(); $this->getResponse()->insert('menu', $view->render('menu.phtml')); } Is it right that i need to set the helper path once again? I did this in a Plugin Controller named ViewSetup. There i do some setup for the view like doctype, headlinks, helper paths...(This step is from the book: Zend Framework in Action) The Menu class which is initiated looks like this: class Menu { protected $_menu = array(); /** * Menu for notloggedin and logged in */ public function getMenu() { $auth = Zend_Auth::getInstance(); $view = new Zend_View(); //check if user is logged in if(!$auth->hasIdentity()) { $this->_menu = array( 'page1' => array( 'label' => 'page1', 'title' => 'page1', 'url' => $view->url(array('module' => 'pages','controller' => 'my', 'action' => 'page1')) ), 'page2' => array( 'label' => 'page2', 'title' => 'page2', 'url' => $view->url(array('module' => 'pages','controller' => 'my', 'action' => 'page2')) ), 'page3' => array( 'label' => 'page3', 'title' => 'page3', 'url' => $view->url(array('module' => 'pages','controller' => 'my', 'action' => 'page3')) ), 'page4' => array( 'label' => 'page4', 'title' => 'page4', 'url' => $view->url(array('module' => 'pages','controller' => 'my', 'action' => 'page4')) ), 'page5' => array( 'label' => 'page5', 'title' => 'page5', 'url' => $view->url(array('module' => 'pages','controller' => 'my', 'action' => 'page5')) ) ); } else { //user is vom type 'client' //.. } return $this->_menu; } } Here´s my view script: <ul id="mainmenu"> <?php echo $this->partialLoop('menuItem.phtml',$this->menu) ?> </ul> This is working so far. My question is: is it usual to do it this way, is there anything to improve? I´m new to Zend and in the web are many deprecated tutorials which often is not obvious. Even the book is already deprecated where the autoloader is mentioned. Many thanks in advance

    Hi, I'm trying to create "imagemaps" on an image in wpf using codebehind. See the following XML: <Button Type="Area"> <Point X="100" Y="100"></Point> <Point X="100" Y="200"></Point> <Point X="200" Y="200"></Point> <Point X="200" Y="100"></Point> <Point X="150" Y="150"></Point> </Button> I'm trying to translate this to a button on a certain image in my WPF app. I've already did a part of this, but I'm stuck at setting the Polygon as the button's "template": private Button GetAreaButton(XElement buttonNode) { // get points PointCollection buttonPointCollection = new PointCollection(); foreach (var pointNode in buttonNode.Elements("Point")) { buttonPointCollection.Add(new Point((int)pointNode.Attribute("X"), (int)pointNode.Attribute("Y"))); } // create polygon Polygon myPolygon = new Polygon(); myPolygon.Points = buttonPointCollection; myPolygon.Stroke = Brushes.Yellow; myPolygon.StrokeThickness = 2; // create button based on polygon Button button = new Button(); ????? } I'm also unsure on how to add/remove this button to/from my image, but I'm looking into that. Any help is appreciated.

  • HSDPA modem only working on certain USB ports

    - by nabulke
    Depending on which USB port I use to connect my HSDPA modem, the network manager will connect to the internet or not. I used to work (i.e. established a internet connection automatically) on all ports, but over time it simply stopped on some ports. lsusb output in all cases looks like that (Device ID varies depending on USB port): Bus 001 Device 009: ID 12d1:1003 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E220 HSDPA Modem / E270 HSDPA/HSUPA Modem Any ideas what could cause this behaviour? What can I do to fix this? ADDED One additional information about the modem: if connected via USB it will be available as as harddrive AND as a HSDPA modem (kind of a duality...). In the error case, it will only be shown as a harddrive. • How do I add a confirmation popup on a button (GET POST action in MVC)?

    - by user54197
    I have a get/post/JSON function on an aspx page. This page adds data entered in a textbox to a table populated by javascript. When the user select the submit button. If the textbox is not empty, have a popup button telling the user the data in the textbox is not saved in the table. How do I have a confirm "ok/cancel" popup display on the post action in the Controller? I made a quick summary of what my code looks like. ... <% using (Html.BeginForm("AddName", "Name", FormMethod.Post, new { id = "AddNameForm" })) { %> ... <table id="displayNameTable" width= "100%"> <tr> <th colspan="3">Names Already Added</th> </tr> <tr> <td style="font-size:smaller;" class="name"></td> </tr> </table> ... <input name="Name" id="txtInjuryName" type="text" value="<%=test.Name %>" /> ... <input type="submit" name="add" value="Add"/> <% } %> <form id="form1" runat="server"> string confirmNext = ""; if (test.Name == "") { confirmNext = "return confirm('It seems you have a name not added.\n\nAre Continue?')"; }%> <input type="submit" name="getNext" value="Next" onclick="<%=confirmNext%>" /> </form>

  • Ubuntu 12.04.1 completely freezing very often [closed]

    - by tyler
    Possible Duplicate: What should I do when Ubuntu freezes? I am running ubuntu 12.04.1 on an asus zenbook prime (UX31A), and I am having a problem where the entire OS freezes at random times. It doesn't seem to happen in response to any certain event, it will even sometimes happen while just moving the mouse, not even clicking on anything. The entire system will freeze, mouse and keyboard do not work, and any music/video will freeze and audio will loop. I can do nothing but hold the power button to reboot the computer. I've had this problem for a while, and just yesterday gotten around to backing up everything and doing a fresh install. Lo and behold, I get a freeze within 20 minutes of a fresh install. I've googled this a lot, and cannot find anything that resembles it exactly (some people have everything but mouse/keyboard freeze, some people only have the mouse/keyboard freeze).

  • Ever any performance different between Java >> and >>> right shift operators?

    - by Sean Owen
    Is there ever reason to think the (signed) and (unsigned) right bit-shift operators in Java would perform differently? I can't detect any difference on my machine. This is purely an academic question; it's never going to be the bottleneck I'm sure. I know: it's best to write what you mean foremost; use for division by 2, for example. I assume it comes down to which architectures have which operations implemented as an instruction.

  • How can I get a Silverlight application to check for an update without the user clicking a button?

    - by Edward Tanguay
    I have made an out-of-browser silverlight application which I want to automatically update every time there is a new .xap file uploaded to the server. When the user right-clicks the application and clicks on Updates, the default is set to "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to download and install them": This leads me to believe that it is possible to make my Silverlight application automatically detect if there is a new .xap file present on the server, and if there is, the Silverlight client will automatically ask the user if he would like to install it. This however is not the case. I upload a new .xap file and the Silverlight application does nothing. Even if I add this to my App.xaml.cs: -- private void Application_Startup(object sender, StartupEventArgs e) { this.RootVisual = new BaseApp(); if (Application.Current.IsRunningOutOfBrowser) { Application.Current.CheckAndDownloadUpdateAsync(); } } and update the .xap file, the Silverlight application does nothing. This information leads me to believe that I have to make a button which the user clicks to see if there is an update. But I don't want the user to have to click a button every day to see if there is an update. I want the application to check by itself if there is a new .xap file and if there is, let the client ask the user if he wants the update. How do I make my Silverlight application check, each time it starts, if there is a new .xap file, and if there is, pass control to the Silverlight client to ask the user if he wants to download it, as the above dialogue implies is possible?

  • possible to have a 'publish to facebook' button on my site?

    - by Haroldo
    I'm building a music events website and want to have a 'share this event' button which publishes the event details on facebook. this tool looks like exactly what i want: http://developers.facebook.com/tools.php?connect_wizard&wizard=stream_publish however, if i copy the code snippet to new file on my site, it doesn't work. I'm assuming there's a few lines of extra php/js i need somewhere? so far i have <body> <script src="http://static.ak.connect.facebook.com/js/api_lib/v0.4/FeatureLoader.js.php" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="http://static.ak.connect.facebook.com/connect.php/en_GB" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript">FB.init("89bb37189bede9e30eb07a66b9a1c52a");</script> <script type="text/javascript"> function callPublish(msg, attachment, action_link) { FB.ensureInit(function () { FB.Connect.streamPublish('', attachment, action_link); }); } </script> <input type="button" onclick="callPublish('',{'name':'jkhkjhkjh','href':'http://www.headfirstbristol.co.uk/','description':'jhfg jkdfgkjdfgjkdfkgdfg df gdg dfg dfg dfg dfg dfg dfg dfg','media':[{'type':'image','src':'http://www.headfirstbristol.co.uk/site_files/images/hf-logo.jpg','href':'http://www.headfirstbristol.co.uk/'}]},null);return false;" value="Preview Dialog" />

  • ASP.NET MVC Ajax.BeginForm eats params of submit button clicked. Looks like bug.

    - by RonnBlack
    If you are using Ajax.BeginForm() with multiple submit buttons similar to this: // View.aspx <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("Action", "Controller", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "MyControl", })) { %> <span id="MyControl"> <% Html.RenderPartial("MyControl"); %> </span> <% } %> //MyControl.ascx <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl" %> <input name="prev" type="submit" value="prev" /> <input name="next" type="submit" value="next" /> //... Everything is submitted to the controller fine but the params for the submit button that was clicked are absent from the Request. In otherwords Request["next"] and Request["prev"] are always null. I looked in to the JavaScript in Microsoft.MvcAjax.js and it looks like the function Sys_Mvc_MvcHelpers$_serializeForm completely skips over the inputs that are of type 'submit'. This doesn't seem logical at all. How else can you find out what button has been clicked? It looks like a bug to me. Is there any logical reason to skip these form parameters?

  • How to future-proof my touch-enabled web application?

    - by Rice Flour Cookies
    I recently went out and purchased a touch-screen monitor with the intention of learning how to program touch-enabled web applications. I had reviewed the MDN documentation about touch events, as well as the W3C specification. To get started, I wrote a very short test page with two event handlers: one for the mousedown event and one for the touchstart event. I fired up the web page in IE and touched the document and found that only the mousedown event fired. I saw the same behavior with Firefox, only to find out later that Firefox can be set to enable the touchstart event using about:config. When touch events are enabled, the touchstart event fires, but not mousedown. Chrome was even stranger: it fired both events when I touched the document: touchstart and mousedown, in that order. Only on my Android phone does it appear to be the case that only the touchstart event fires when I touch the document. I did a a Google search and ended up on two interesting pages. First, I found the page on CanIUse for touch events: http://caniuse.com/#feat=touch Can I Use clearly indicates that IE does not support touch events as of this writing, and Firefox only supports touch events if they are manually enabled. Furthermore, all four browsers I mentioned treat the touch in a completely different way. It boils down to this: IE: simulated mouse click Firefox with touch disabled: simulated mouse click Firefox with touch enabled: touch event Chrome: touch event and simulated mouse click Android: touch event What is more frustrating is that Google also found a Microsoft page called RethinkIE. RethinkIE brags about touch support in IE; as a matter of fact, one of their slogans is "Touch the Web". It links to a number of touch-based application. I followed some of these links, and as best I can tell, it's just like CanIUse described; no proper touch support; just simulated mouse clicks. The MDN (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Touch) and W3C (http://www.w3.org/TR/touch-events/) documentation describe a far richer interface; an interface that doesn't just simulate mouse clicks, but keeps track of multiple touches at once, the contact area, rotation, and force of each touch, and unique identifiers for each touch so that they can be tracked individually. I don't see how simulated mouse clicks can ever touch the above described functionality, which, once again, is part of the W3C specification, although it is listed as "non-normative", meaning that a browser can claim to be standards-compliant without implementing it. (Why bother making it part of the standard, then?) What motivated my research is that I've written an HTML5 application that doesn't work on Android because Android doesn't fire mouse events. I'm now afraid to try to implement touch for my application because the browsers all behave so differently. I imagine that at some time in the future, the browsers might start handling touch similarly, but how can I tell how they might be handled in the future short of writing code to handle the behavior of each individual browser? Is it possible to write code today that will work with touch-enabled browsers for years to come? If so, how?
