• Accessing A Shared Directory That Has An Account White List

  I'm on a LAN here at work and I have my desktop sharing some of my project folders. I can access the computer via \\ComputerIP\, but I can't actually open any of the folders. Upon attempting, I get the error: Windowns cannot access \ComputerIP\ProjectFolder You do not have permission to access \ComputerIP\ProjectFolder. Contact your network administrator to request access. For more information about permissions, see Windows Help and Support Now, this is understood considering I've made it so that you had to utilize the "Project" credentials to connect. I have a user account on my main computer hosting these shared folders that gives full access to the folders if you are this "Project" user. I can Remote Desktop the computer just fine from my laptop using either set of credentials. When I try to open these folders it doesn't give me the option to attempt to apply any credentials like it does when I remote desktop. How am I supposed to gain access to these folders?

  I have hosted my site in a shared environment. Recently for security reasons the hosting company has disabled socket functions. When i enquired them they said that they will enable to people who personally request for that option. And they said it is a matter of 2 minutes work and asked for my control panel username and password. They said that it is just updating the php.ini for my account. So i want to know how to do it myself. If that could be done by them in 2 minutes then why cant a developer. I asked them but they mumbled... saying not to give trouble to me. so i want to know how to edit php.ini or something like stated above my hosting is using cPanel control panel. suggestions please.

  Hi I hope someone can help me... I accidentally renamed my own user name on my mac running OS X 10.4.11 and tried renaming back to what it was but now I have two accounts (the one I want to use which has all my preferences, applications, mail boxes, etc etc) is it possible to copy my settings from my original into this new user name? When I open my computer it defaults to this new account but everything is setting up from new and I just need to get access to all my work documents, mail settings etc. If there is anyone who could help out, I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance.

• Best Practices for "temporary" accounts in a Windows server environment?

  Are there any best practices for "temporary worker" accounts in a Windows server environment? We have a couple of contractors joining the organization temporarily. They only need access to a few folders. Aside from joining them to the "Domain Guests" group and granting them access only to the folders specified. Are there any other issues to be aware of? We are in a Windows Server 2003 domain environment.

• Cannot access Azure Portal: We were unable to find any subscriptions associated with your account

  I am trying to get access to my Windows Azure Portal. Although I can access my user profile which shows two active subscriptions, I cannot access the portal (https://manage.windowsazure.com/). I get redirected to this site: https://manage.windowsazure.com/Error/NoSubscriptions, saying We were unable to find any subscriptions associated with your account. Now, this is a clear issue for the Azure support, but unfortunately, as azure thinks I don't have any subscriptions, I cannot get support, either, because I get redirected to the same error page. I've spent two hours talking and chatting with incompetent support people, i.e.: I've submitted feedback on the azure site but have no idea whether I will ever get a response. Maybe somebody has had this issue before, or can hint me which way to go?

  Hi, What are the main guidelines to setting up a user account on a Linux machine for a web app? In my case it is a Rails application that does file management. First thing I can think of is to limit access rights to only the directories it needs. But how exactly should I go about this? Setup rights through a user group or a through the user's ownership of those directories. I have very little experience in user rights management. What else do I need to consider? I've heard of ACL's and SELinux, do I need to look into any of these to guaranty decent security for my simple web app? Any advice about this and anything not mentioned welcomed, Thanks, Max. • 3CX behind UT7.1 using a callcentric.com SIP account

  Has anyone had any luck with getting 3CX working behind UT7.1 with a SIP account from callcentric.com? I am willing to reset my current UT box back to defaults, and start from there. I have a static public IP assigned to the external interface. My internal addressing is 192.168.76.0 . My 3CX box has 192.168.76.17 . Would anyone be willing to give me a step by step of changes to make in UT / 3CX. I currently have my UT box unplugged, and have replaced it with a Linksys unit. I have port forwarding setup for… TCP/UDP 5060 to 192.168.76.17 UDP 9000-9049 to 192.168.76.17 … and everything works great. I also have additional external IPs available if that helps.

• 500 Error when using custom account for application pool in IIS 7

  I have a very simple site with only static files in IIS 7 on Windows Server 2008 SP2. When I try to access any static file I get a 500 error. If I rename an html file to have an aspx extension it works fine. The site also works fine when using the built in identity for the application pool. The problem occurs when I switch to using a custom account for the application pool. I have tried using both local and domain accounts to run the application pool under. I have given full control to these accounts on the website directory and files. Turning on tracing reveals this error message: ModuleName: IIS Web Core Notification: 2 HttpStatus: 500 HttpReason: Internal Server Error HttpSubStatus: 0 ErrorCode: 2147943746 ConfigExceptionInfo Notification: AUTHENTICATE_REQUEST ErrorCode: Either a required impersonation level was not provided, or the provided impersonation level is invalid. (0x80070542) I have not had any luck with googling the error code.

I have never worked on linux and dont plan on working on it either - The only command I probably know is "ls" :) I am hosting my website on Eapps and use their cpanel to setup everything so never worked with linux. Now I have this one time case - where I need to provide access to a contractor to fix the CSS issues on my website. He basically needs FTP (read/write) access to certain folders. At a high level - this is my code structure /home/webadmin/example.com/html/images /css /js /login.php /facebook.php /home/webadmin/example.com/application/library /views /models /controllers /config /bootstrap.php /home/webadmin/example.com/cgi-bin I want the new user to be able to have access to only these folders /home/webadmin/example.com/html/js /home/webadmin/example.com/html/css /home/webadmin/example.com/application/views He should not be able to view even the content of other folders including files like bootstrap.php or login.php etc If any sys admins can help me set this account up - will really appreciate it. • Intraforest user account merge with Active Directory

  I have a scenario where there is a root domain (RD) and two child domains (CD1 and CD2). Users have accounts on both CD1 and CD2, with identical samAccountNames, names etc, and various applications either use the CD1 or CD2 account for authentication to resources. I need to collapse CD2 into CD1, so I want to merge the accounts together. However ADMT does not allow me this option (merge options are greyed out), I think because it does not support intraforest merge of accounts (although it does not explicitly state this anywhere in the documentation). My question is - what is the easiest way for me to merge these accounts? Ultimately all I really need (I think) is for the SID of CD2\user1 to be added to the SIDHistory of CD1\user1 - is there a tool that supports this? Computer accounts and profiles are not a concern for this scenario. Group migration is unlikely to be an issue either - CD2\user1 is usually granted resource access through membership of a group on CD1.

• Exchange 2003 HTTP Account Error

  We are trying to get one of our users connected to our Exchange 2003 server using the HTTP method as they already have an existing Exchange account on another server. The setup goes through and they appear to get connected fine however none of the subfolders are listed. Instead we get one folder of "Error-Pls file a Bug". The usual Google search just throws up nothing useful. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or has anyone actually gotten Outlook (2003 or 2007) to connect to an Exchange 2003 server?

  The problem is that I have to go through proxy here in college to make my internet work. When I signed with my live id to switch to the Microsoft account in Windows 8, it recognized and validate my security questions but says it cannot connect to Microsoft Services. All other apps like mail, messenger, etc. work except for the Windows Store. The windows store what apps are available but when installed, queues it up for a pending download. Is there a way to modify my proxy settings so that I can access both these features?

  I have my user account on my D drive and junction'd to the C:\users folder. I accidentally moved my profile Downloads folder (C:\users\me\Downloads) and then moved it back to its path on the D drive (C:\me\Downloads). After doing this, the directory tree for my user profile lists two Downloads directories, one located at C:\users\me and one at D:\me. I tried deleting the directory from the D drive, then restoring it from the Recycle Bin to the proper location on the C drive (actually the D drive, accessed through the junction), but it gave me the two Downloads directories again. Is there some way to fix this so that the only listing is for the C:\users\me\Downloads directory, like it was to begin with?

  I recently replaced a failing SCSI drive in a Windows 2000 server with an IDE drive. I made an image of the SCSI drive and Ghosted it. The purpose of the machine was to give out DHCP at one location and host a couple of files. When I restarted the machine with the new drive, DHCP appears to be working fine, but I cannot get to any of the shares. Instead, I get the following message when attempting to navigate using Explorer. Logon Failure: the target account name is incorrect It appears that this machine is not communicating with the main domain controller. Changes to user accounts (performed on the domain controller) are not replicated on this machine.

  Hello everyone I am using microsoft exchange 2003 on windows 2003 small business server. For the past month or so, the archiver account has been receiving multiple copies (about 15 or so) of each and every email. edit: All copies share the same Message ID. The machine that hosts exchange is updated religiously and an antivirus scan is run on a daily basis. So would anyone please have any ideas about how to deal with this and furthermore, how i would be able to delete the multiple copies of emails from outlook 2003 inbox.   I have 3 google apps domain accounts and a personal google account, and until recently, there was little need for the google app's calendars to have any real use; Now however the powers that be finally discovered the smart re-scheduler and the other google tools for managing meetings and schedules; unfortunately I'm now in a position where I've got events notifications all over the place and because each of the calendars do not know about each other, I'm losing all of the advantages of rescheduler / free-busy status.
