  • Alias a Virtual Directory or Application as Root on IIS 7

    Our current IIS setup as two applications running on different paths at (for example) http://server/sub-a and http://server/sub-b. I want to alias http://server/sub-a as root so that just going to http://server/ will bring up the contents of sub-a. The problem I face is that when I initially set up a ReverseProxy it negatively affected http://server/sub-b. I know this is a fairly common problem- how have you solved it? 99.9% of my experience is with Apache, so I feel a tad lost in the GUI world of IIS.

  • Domain migration - 301 Redirect of all contentes of directory)

    Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to do the following considering that I would like to migrate domains. I have lets say: one.com/files/one.html one.com/files/two.php one.com/other/three.html one.com/other/four.doc one.com/other/subdirectory/five.doc I am migrating to two.com So I would like to make RESPECTIVE 301 redirects to the following: two.com/old/files/one.html two.com/old/files/two.php two.com/old/other/three.html two.com/old/other/four.doc two.com/old/other/subdirectory/five.doc I've tried with cPanel and although I come "close" with the redirects option I can't seem to make it happen. The folders are not much (10 -12) the file are a lot, and obviously impossible to make it manually. How would you proceed? Can this/ should this be done with regex from the .htaccess?? Can you direct all the elements of a subdirectory in the manner expressed above? I hope the question is clear enough, if not please ask for any clarification needed!! Thanks in advance!!

    I have just set up a VM for Windows Server 2008 R2 and want to install Microsoft CRM 2011 to play around with it. CRM 2011 seems to require Active Directory to be configured and running on the server. I've never gotten involved with Active Directory and I know that I need to install it and get it going for the CRM 2011 to continue. Does anyone have any quick pointers and/or resources for someone with no Active Directory experience, so that I can get CRM 2011 installed?

    Here's what I'd like to do: If a user goes to www.example.com/thislocation, I'd like to redirect to a particular script and give it "thislocation" as a parameter. So if a user navigated to www.example.com/thislocation, I'd like to redirect to www.example.com/cgi-bin/test.pl?parameter=thislocation, and similarily, if the user navigated to www.example.com/thatlocation, I'd like to redirect to www.example.com/cgi-bin/test.pl?parameter=thatlocation. Is this possible with Apache?

  • ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider and ADAM (or AD LDS) and SetPassword

    By the subject line it seems to be a rather broad subject and I need some help here. Basically what I want is to use ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider with an ADAM instance to authenticate users in an ASP.NET web application. My development environment is a windows 7 machine with an AD LDS instance on it whilst the QA server is a Windows 2003 server with an ADAM instance on it. I have all the required users on both instances plus one with adminsitrator role (CN=Admin,CN=xxx,DC=xxx,C=xx) which I want to use as the connection user. Using connectonProtecton="None" connectionUsername="CN=Admin,CN=xxx,DC=xxx,C=xx" connectionPassword="xxx" I am able to authenticate on both environments (dev & qa). If I change to the connectionProtection to "Secure" I am not able to authenticate anymore; the error I get is "Parser Error Message: Unable to establish secure connection with the server" To me it sounds wrong to use connectionProtection="None" although I found on the net a lot of samples using this setting. Can I use connectionProtection="Secure" to connect to an ADAM instance using an account defined on that instance having Administrator role? What other choices do I have (like using an domain account)? What if my machine where I am to deploy the application is not a part of the domain, will this affect in any way the behavior? I am novice in the respect so I would really appreciate some clear answers or some directions as where to look? Now beside the "signing in" feature of the ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider I also want to add an extra one, which is setting the password without knowing the old one (something that will be used by a "reset password" feature). So I added a couple of extension methods to the provider, and used System.DirectoryServices classes like DirectoryEntry and the like. When creating a directory entry I use the same credentials provided in web.config for the provider minus the AuthenticationType as I don't know what is right combination of the flags that corresponds to None/Secure. I am able to use Invoke "SetPassword" with ADS_OPTION_PASSWORD_METHOD option as ADS_PASSWORD_ENCODE_CLEAR on my dev machine (w/ AD LDS instance); nevertheless on qa environment (w/ ADAM instance) I am getting an error like "Exception Details: System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryServicesCOMException: An operations error occurred. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80072020)" I am quite sure it is not about AD LDS vs ADAM but probably another configuration / permission issue. So can anyone help me with some hints on how to use this SetPassword feature? And as a general question what are the best practices when it comes to using ADAM regarding security, programming etc?     While experimenting with FileSystemWatcher, I've found out that it somehow surpasses Active Directory's restrictions to files and folders, and will raise change events with information about what has changed in files and folders that you don't even have access to. I have two questions about that: 1) Why does this happen ? 2) Is this a problem in the AD configuration ? how do I fix it ? 3) Is there any way to gather these files, or even create a FileSystemInfo of them to get more info about the files (not only the changes made on them) ? As far as I've tried, only the FileSystemWatcher immune to the restrictions, I can't run any other thing over it, here's a list of what I've tried: File.Exists Directory.Exists FileInfo instance on found files DirectoryInfo instance on found files File.Copy File.Delete

  • Process a set of files from a source directory to a destination directory in Python

    Being completely new in python I'm trying to run a command over a set of files in python. The command requires both source and destination file (I'm actually using imagemagick convert as in the example below). I can supply both source and destination directories, however I can't figure out how to easily retain the directory structure from the source to the destination directory. E.g. say the srcdir contains the following: srcdir/ file1 file3 dir1/ file1 file2 Then I want the program to create the following destination files on destdir: destdir/file1, destdir/file3, destdir/dir1/file1 and destdir/dir1/file2 So far this is what I came up with: import os from subprocess import call srcdir = os.curdir # just use the current directory destdir = 'path/to/destination' for root, dirs, files in os.walk(srcdir): for filename in files: sourceFile = os.path.join(root, filename) destFile = '???' cmd = "convert %s -resize 50%% %s" % (sourceFile, destFile) call(cmd, shell=True) The walk method doesn't directly provide what directory the file is under srcdir other than concatenating the root directory string with the file name. Is there some easy way to get the destination file, or do I have to do some string manipulation in order to do this?

    I am trying to write a Java program that logs what application I'm using every 5 seconds (this is a time tracker app). I need some way to find out what the current active window is. I found KeyboardFocusManager.getGlobalActiveWindow() but I can't get it to work right. A cross platform solution is preferable, but if one doesn't exist, then I'm developing for linux with X.Org. I wonder, is NTLM suitable for operations with Active Directory (such as creating user accounts)? Or AD accepts only Kerberos authentication?

  • Active directory logonCount is 0, though the user has logged in

    For a user in active directory, the properties hold values for lastlogontime & lastlogontimestamp but the logoncount is 0. I am having only one domain controller in that domain. I found from surfing, that logonCount value of 0 indicates that the value is unknown. But I am totally confused with why it is unknown. Is that an issue with AD.
