  • How to tell an iphone app user what will happen before opening Facebook login dialogue

    Apps that allow users to log in over a 3rd party authentication provider (e.g. Facebook, Google, Twoitter,...) should open a browser window to let the user authenticate against the provider. That means, at some point, an app is backgrounded and the user interacts with a browser window. Just before the browser opens, it's a recommended pratctice to inform the user about what will happen (see e.g. Getting Started with OAuth 2.0 - O'Reilly), let's say an alert window with something like "you will leave now the XYZ app and a browser window will open where you can enter your credentials safely". My question: How can that be done if I use the facebook SDK for ios? Looking at the SDK, there seem to be no notifications and no designated states that would allow me to detect that the sdk is about to background my app and about to opening either Safari or the Facebook app.

  • How to tell if there is an available thread in a thread pool in java

    I am trying to proccess a queue of tasks from a database table as fast as possible while also limiting the number of threads to process the tasks. I am using a fixed sized thread pool with Executors.newFixedThreadPool(N); I want to know if there is a way of knowing if the thread pool is full, by that I mean are there currently 50 threads running, if so then I'll wait for a thread to be available before starting a new one instead of sleeping the main thread.   • When should I tell my boss that I'm thinking about looking for another job?

    I'm thinking about looking around for another job, but I don't know when I should tell my boss because I would like to see what kind of opportunities I can land before I even mention it. The reason I'm reluctant to tell him right away is I'm afraid he'll begin the process of replacing me. If I don't tell him while I'm looking around, then I can't use him as a reference and he'd most likely give a great recommendation. If I were to leave and go work for someone else, it wouldn't be until after I finish my current project which ends in two months because I don't want to screw anyone over. How would you approach him about this and when? Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

    I cant seem to be able to adjust the brightness on my think-pad laptop running Ubuntu 10.04. In the power management applet it shows that the power is set to 100%, but even if i try to lower it the actual screen brightness dosent change. Any ideas of how I can get around this? I tried changing the brightness from the terminal but its already set to Max brightness (however the actual screen brightness is no that bright at all). Thanks

    Hi, I'd like to iterate through every element on an iTunes window and try to click on each element. I'd also like to write to a text file showing each element that I've clicked. The code that I wrote below isn't working. Specifically, I get the error process "iTunes" doesn’t understand the click_an_element message. Thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?   • I cant use wasd and arrow keys at the same time?

    I am having this promblem where if I press one key on either one of the arrow keys or wasd, I cant press that direction on the other one unless that key is the only key of wasd or the arrow keys being pressed at that time. For example: I can press D and RIGHT, but if I do, I cant press W,A,S,LEFT,UP and DOWN. If I press A and S then I cant press LEFT and Down. Does anyone have a solution to that problem, cause I have searhed around, and found no similar problem.

  • Content light website and Google - Tell google it's a listings site (as opposed shop, reviews or restaurants)

    I have a listings style website. Due to the nature of this (listings) the site is content light. Each page is typically less that 50 words but there are many pages. The site in question has had a ton of media coverage and so has some great inbound links from places like Wired, Fast Company, Canada Broadcasting Corporation and many many other bloggers, media websites and recycle related niche authors (It's a recycling site). But Google really ignores it. Traffic from search is very very low - less than 5% of all traffic. I know that using markup you can tell Google whether your site is a restaurant, article, review, shop, local business and a few other categories (https://www.google.com/webmasters/markup-helper/u/0/). Is there a way to tell Google that my site is a listings site? I suspect, but do not know for sure, that part of the problem is that Google simply does not know what my site is? It's a crowdmap where people post curbalerts. The information is useful to people but it is presented in a short, concise way - a pin on a map, a picture and a short description. Adding anything further is not necessary for the site's intended purpose. 1st question - how best to tell the search engines what y site is - listings and not some spammy website?     i screwed up big time. i changed the permission of /etc in ubuntu 11.10 by using following command sudo chmod 665 /etc now when ever i try to use sudo it gives the following error: sudo: can't open /etc/sudoers: Permission denied sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting any help will be greatly appreciated because i am new to ubuntu....i have already tried using su but it doesnt even login as root and even i give it the right password it always say Authentication Failure......i dont want to login as root coz its risky and even a newbie in linux like me is not stupid enough to have such control...i just want to use my sudo again......i have tried to go into recovery mode as well but i cant get in to recovery mode......HELP please!!!

  • Cant find one particular wireless network. Worked before, but sudenly stopt working.

    My first question here. My problem is: I cant find my wireless network at home. Situation: It worked fine 7 days ago. It works with a cable(wierd). I find the network on my ipad/phone. I can connect to wireless hotspot network form my phone and wireless at my university, and it works fine. I can connect to the network in windows What I have tried: Tried this Strange network issue; works on windows, but not on ubuntu, works on campus wireless, but not at home (removing resolve.conf). Hardware and software: I have a Broadcom card Use dual boot ubuntu 12.04 - windows 7 Things I did to make wireless work: blacklist brcmsmac blacklist bcma blacklist b43 blacklist ssb Can anyone help me? I'm about to kill myself(not literary)!! I'm not that good in linux so go gentle on me:)

  • HP dv6-2119tx cant find the built in tv tuner?? Ubuntu 12.10

    Installed Ubuntu 12.10 yesterday and I've been playing around trying to get all the drivers for my dv6. I have taken care of the the graphics card and the sound card which to be honest is not the greatest drivers I have found. Specs are Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz with nvidia gt230 My problem atm is the tv tuner card! Ive searched everywhere but i cant even find something to start on. I guess I am still clueless but I really dont know what to do??? I really dont want windows anymore so if anyone could guide me Id really appreciate it. Thanks...

  • How can I tell if I am out of inotify watches?

    I use an application that consumes inotify watches. I've already set fs.inotify.max_user_watches=32768 in /etc/sysctl.conf but last night the application stopped indexing unless I ran it manually, which leads me to suspect I am out of watches. Since I don't know what the trade off is when I increase this number (does it consume more RAM?), I don't know if I should just increase this number, so I'd like to know if there's a way I can tell if it's using all these watches and what the tradeoffs might be for increasing it.

I went into Edit User Profile Security and made sure that ZRTP was enables and that all boxes were checked. I asked a friend to do the same and then we called each other. There is no immediate indication that I can see that the call is secure. How can I tell if ZRTP is enabled in a Twinkle SIP call?

  • How to tell the hotplug system which NTFS driver to use?

    I need a version later than the one shipped with lucid because I want to make use of the new hide_hid_files and hide_dot_files mount options, which are not present before version 2010.8.8. Ever since I compiled and installed the latest version of NTFS-3G via checkinstall, whenever I plugin a NTFS mass storage device, Ubuntu chooses the ntfs kernel module upon the ntfs-3g fuse driver to mount it. I don't know how to tell my system to use the 3g driver. mount -t ntfs-3g and fstab entries work just fine.

    Possible Duplicate: Preventing robots from crawling specific part of a page I know you can use robots.txt to ignore entire pages or sections of your site, but is there a way to tell cralwers like the Googlebot to ignore specific sections of an HTML page? I found this blog post that discusses one method, but it appears only to work for the Google Search Appliance, not the Googlebot. Is there some method for at least Google for to do this?

  • What do neglected O'Reilly book topics tell us about that topic?

    Does anybody know how O'Reilly chooses topics to publish? For some reason, I don't see how it can be based on demand. The reason, I ask, is because they haven't published a Delphi book in almost 12 years and Object Pascal is at least as esoteric as Erlang and as practical as PHP and as robust as C++. So, maybe someone knows what rationale is behind O'Reilly's publishing methodology or what it is supposed to tell us about the relative popularity or usefulness of any given language or programming technique?
