  • ASP.NET MVC Conditional validation

    - by Peter Stegnar
    How to use data annotations to do a conditional validation on model? For example, lets say we have the following model (Person and Senior): public class Person { [Required(ErrorMessage = "*")] public string Name { get; set; } public bool IsSenior { get; set; } public Senior Senior { get; set; } } public class Senior { [Required(ErrorMessage = "*")]//this should be conditional validation, based on the "IsSenior" value public string Description { get; set; } } And the following view: <%= Html.EditorFor(m => m.Name)%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.Name)%> <%= Html.CheckBoxFor(m => m.IsSenior)%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.IsSenior)%> <%= Html.CheckBoxFor(m => m.Senior.Description)%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.Senior.Description)%> I would like to be the "Senior.Description" property conditional required field based on the selection of the "IsSenior" propery (true - required). How to implement conditional validation in ASP.NET MVC 2 with data annotations? UPDATE Found nice solution. Look below.

  • WCF client binding configuration in program code

    - by smarsha
    I have the following class that configures security, encoding, and token parameters but I am having trouble adding a BasicHttpBinding to specify a MaxReceivedMessageSize. Any insight would be appreciated. public class MultiAuthenticationFactorBinding { public static Binding CreateMultiFactorAuthenticationBinding() { HttpsTransportBindingElement httpTransport = new HttpsTransportBindingElement(); CustomBinding binding = new CustomBinding(); binding.Name = "myCustomBinding"; TransportSecurityBindingElement messageSecurity = TransportSecurityBindingElement.CreateUserNameOverTransportBindingElement(); messageSecurity.AllowInsecureTransport = true; messageSecurity.EnableUnsecuredResponse = true; messageSecurity.MessageSecurityVersion = MessageSecurityVersion.WSSecurity11WSTrust13WSSecureConversation13WSSecurityPolicy12; messageSecurity.SecurityHeaderLayout = SecurityHeaderLayout.Strict; messageSecurity.IncludeTimestamp = true; messageSecurity.SetKeyDerivation(false); TextMessageEncodingBindingElement Quota = new TextMessageEncodingBindingElement(MessageVersion.Soap11, System.Text.Encoding.UTF8); Quota.ReaderQuotas.MaxDepth = 32; Quota.ReaderQuotas.MaxStringContentLength = Int32.MaxValue; Quota.ReaderQuotas.MaxArrayLength = 16384; Quota.ReaderQuotas.MaxBytesPerRead = 4096; Quota.ReaderQuotas.MaxNameTableCharCount = 16384; X509SecurityTokenParameters clientX509SupportingTokenParameters = new X509SecurityTokenParameters(); clientX509SupportingTokenParameters.InclusionMode = SecurityTokenInclusionMode.AlwaysToRecipient; clientX509SupportingTokenParameters.RequireDerivedKeys = false; messageSecurity.EndpointSupportingTokenParameters.Endorsing.Add(clientX509SupportingTokenParameters); //binding.ReceiveTimeout = new TimeSpan(0,0,300); binding.Elements.Add(Quota); binding.Elements.Add(messageSecurity); binding.Elements.Add(httpTransport); return binding; } }

  • Create a WCF REST Client Proxy Programatically (in C#)

    - by Tawani
    I am trying to create a REST Client proxy programatically in C# using the code below but I keep getting a CommunicationException error. Am I missing something? public static class WebProxyFactory { public static T Create<T>(string url) where T : class { ServicePointManager.Expect100Continue = false; WebHttpBinding binding = new WebHttpBinding(); binding.MaxReceivedMessageSize = 1000000; WebChannelFactory<T> factory = new WebChannelFactory<T>(binding, new Uri(url)); T proxy = factory.CreateChannel(); return proxy; } public static T Create<T>(string url, string userName, string password) where T : class { ServicePointManager.Expect100Continue = false; WebHttpBinding binding = new WebHttpBinding(); binding.Security.Mode = WebHttpSecurityMode.TransportCredentialOnly; binding.Security.Transport.ClientCredentialType = HttpClientCredentialType.Basic; binding.UseDefaultWebProxy = false; binding.MaxReceivedMessageSize = 1000000; WebChannelFactory<T> factory = new WebChannelFactory<T>(binding, new Uri(url)); ClientCredentials credentials = factory.Credentials; credentials.UserName.UserName = userName; credentials.UserName.Password = password; T proxy = factory.CreateChannel(); return proxy; } } So that I can use it as follows: IMyRestService proxy = WebProxyFactory.Create<IMyRestService>(url, usr, pwd); var result = proxy.GetSomthing(); // Fails right here

  • WPF Toolkit Charting and IndependentValueBinding, IndependentValuePath

    - by Joel Barsotti
    So I'm having a problem with the charting engine from the WPF toolkit. We haven't moved our data to a proper object model, so the ItemSource is backed with a DataView. First attempt <chartingToolkit:ScatterSeries x:Name="TargetSeries" DataPointStyle="{StaticResource TargetStyle}" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=TargetSeriesData}" IndependentValueBinding="{Binding Path=TargetSeries_X}" DependentValueBinding="{Binding Path=TargetSeries_X}" /> This crashes because, I believe, it thinks the bindings are the values to plot or some sort of mismatch. Second attempt <chartingToolkit:ScatterSeries x:Name="TargetSeries" DataPointStyle="{StaticResource TargetStyle}" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=TargetSeriesData}" IndependentValuePath="{Binding Path=TargetSeries_X}" DependentValuePath="{Binding Path=TargetSeries_X}" /> This crashes during the init step becaue the Path properties aren't backed with dependency properties and therefore cannot be bound. Third attempt <chartingToolkit:ScatterSeries x:Name="TargetSeries" DataPointStyle="{StaticResource TargetStyle}" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=TargetSeriesData}" IndependentValuePath="targetFooXColumnName" DependentValuePath="targetFooYColumnName" /> Now this works! But I wanted to use the binding so I can switch from using the targetFooXColumnName to the targetFooBarXColumnName. So this solution will cause a whole lot of hacky looking code to switch the Path's manually. Anyway to fix this? Can I use some sort of convertor to get the Binding properties to correctly pull the data from the columns in the DataView? Thanks, Joel

  • Binding MediaElement to a ViewModel in a Windows 8 Store App

    - by jdanforth
    If you want to play a video from your video-library in a MediaElement control of a Metro Windows Store App and tried to bind the Url of the video file as a source to the MediaElement control like this, you may have noticed it’s not working as well for you: <MediaElement Source="{Binding Url}" /> I have no idea why it’s not working, but I managed to get it going using  ContentControl instead: <ContentControl Content="{Binding Video}" /> The code behind for this is: protected override void OnNavigatedTo(NavigationEventArgs e) {     _viewModel = new VideoViewModel("video.mp4");     DataContext = _viewModel; } And the VideoViewModel looks like this: public class VideoViewModel {     private readonly MediaElement _video;     private readonly string _filename;       public VideoViewModel(string filename)     {         _filename = filename;         _video = new MediaElement { AutoPlay = true };         //don't load the stream until the control is ready         _video.Loaded += VideoLoaded;     }       public MediaElement Video     {         get { return _video; }     }       private async void VideoLoaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)     {         var file = await KnownFolders.VideosLibrary.GetFileAsync(_filename);         var stream = await file.OpenAsync(FileAccessMode.Read);         _video.SetSource(stream, file.FileType);     } } I had to wait for the MediaElement.Loaded event until I could load and set the video stream.

  • Silverlight RelativeSource of TemplatedParent Binding within a DataTemplate, Is it possible?

    - by Matt.M
    I'm trying to make a bar graph Usercontrol. I'm creating each bar using a DataTemplate. The problem is in order to compute the height of each bar, I first need to know the height of its container (the TemplatedParent). Unfortunately what I have: Height="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Path=Height, Converter={StaticResource HeightConverter}, Mode=OneWay}" Does not work. Each time a value of NaN is returned to my Converter. Does RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent} not work in this context? What else can I do to allow my DataTemplate to "talk" to the element it is being applied to? Incase it helps here is the barebones DataTemplate: <DataTemplate x:Key="BarGraphTemplate"> <Grid Width="30"> <Rectangle HorizontalAlignment="Center" Stroke="Black" Width="20" Height="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Path=Height, Converter={StaticResource HeightConverter}, Mode=OneWay}" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate>

  • How to find out exact version of iPhone SDK for conditional compilation?

    - by Jochen
    I'm looking for a macro that specified the exact version of the iPhone SDK used for compilation. This is needed because when compiling with (and only with) SDK 3.0, I need to add some additional code. __IPHONE_OS_VERSION_MIN_REQUIRED is not the right choice here, since it can be set by the user with parameter -mmacosx-version-min. For example, a user can compile with min version -mmacosx-version-min=3.0 in SDK 3.1, so a check for __IPHONE_OS_VERSION_MIN_REQUIRED == 30000 would be true, even if the user is compiling with SDK 3.1. Any help is appreciated. Regards, Jochen

  • Is it considered bad form to execute a function within a conditional statement?

    - by michael
    Consider a situation in which you need to call successive routines and stop as soon as one returns a value that could be evaluated as positive (true, object, 1, str(1)). It's very tempting to do this: if (fruit = getOrange()) elseif (fruit = getApple()) elseif (fruit = getMango()) else fruit = new Banana(); return fruit; I like it, but this isn't a very recurrent style in what can be considered professional production code. One is likely to rather see more elaborate code like: fruit = getOrange(); if(!fruit){ fruit = getApple(); if(!fruit){ fruit = getMango(); if(!fruit){ fruit = new Banana(); } } } return fruit; According to the dogma on basic structures, is the previous form acceptable? Would you recommend it?

  • Accessing E4X nodes having special characters in name without breaking binding chain in flex.

    - by Jonas
    I am using E4X to bind some values from xml in flex 3. There is a problem when xml tag's (or attribute's) name has special character in it: having xml content var xml:XML = <tag> <special-name att="val" /> </tag> special-name could not be accessed using xml.special-name.@att because it is interpreted as subtraction, on the other hand using square bracket notation xml['special-name'].@att breaks binding chain. Is there an elegant way to solve this (like special language syntax) without writing custom binding setters and listeners?

  • wpftoolkit DataGridTemplateColumn Template binding

    - by Guillaume
    I want my datagrid columns to share a cell/celledit template. I have the solution do that (thanks to WPF DataGridTemplateColumn shared template?). Now what I would love to is improving the readability by avoiding all the node nesting. My current view looks like that: <wpftk:DataGrid ItemsSource="{Binding Tests}" AutoGenerateColumns="False"> <wpftk:DataGrid.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="CustomCellTemplate"> <TextBlock Text="{TemplateBinding Content}"/> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate x:Key="CustomCellEditingTemplate"> <TextBox Text="{TemplateBinding Content}"></TextBox> </DataTemplate> </wpftk:DataGrid.Resources> <wpftk:DataGrid.Columns> <wpftk:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Start Date"> <wpftk:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ContentPresenter ContentTemplate="{StaticResource CustomCellTemplate}" Content="{Binding StartDate}"/> </DataTemplate> </wpftk:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <wpftk:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ContentPresenter ContentTemplate="{StaticResource CustomCellEditingTemplate}" Content="{Binding StartDate}"/> </DataTemplate> </wpftk:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate> </wpftk:DataGridTemplateColumn> <!--and again the whole block above for each columns...--> </wpftk:DataGrid.Columns> </wpftk:DataGrid> What I would like to achieve is to bind the value at the DataGridTemplateColumn level and propagate it to the template level. Anyone know how to do that? What I tried to do is something like that: <wpftk:DataGrid ItemsSource="{Binding Tests}" AutoGenerateColumns="False"> <wpftk:DataGrid.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="CustomCellTemplate"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding}"/> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate x:Key="CustomCellEditingTemplate"> <TextBox Text="{Binding}"></TextBox> </DataTemplate> </wpftk:DataGrid.Resources> <wpftk:DataGrid.Columns> <wpftk:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Start Date" Binding="{Binding StartDate}" CellTemplate="{StaticResource CustomCellTemplate}" CellEditingTemplate="{StaticResource CustomCellEditingTemplate}"/> <wpftk:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="End Date" Binding="{Binding EndDate}" CellTemplate="{StaticResource CustomCellTemplate}" CellEditingTemplate="{StaticResource CustomCellEditingTemplate}"/> </wpftk:DataGrid.Columns> </wpftk:DataGrid> Obviously the binding porperty is not a valid property of the DataGridTemplateColumn but maybe by playing with the datacontext and some relative source could do the trick but frankly I can't find a way to implement that. Not sure if what I want is possible and i'm willing to accept a "no way you can do that" as an answer NOTE: The TextBlock/TextBox in the template is just for test (the real template is much more complex) DataGridTextColumn will not do the trick Thanks in advance

  • Why does this textbox binding example work in WPF but not in Silverlight?

    - by Edward Tanguay
    Why is it in the following silverlight application that when I: change the default text in the first textbox move the cursor to the second text box (i.e. take focus off first textbox) click the button that inside the button handler, it still has the old value "default text"? What do I have to do to get the binding to work in Silverlight? The same code works fine in WPF. • Java conditional compilation: how to prevent code chunks to be compiled?

    - by khachik
    My project requires Java 1.6 for compilation and running. Now I have a requirement to make it working with Java 1.5 (from the marketing side). I want to replace method body (return type and arguments remain the same) to make it compiling with Java 1.5 without errors. Details: I have an utility class called OS which encapsulates all OS-specific things. It has a method public static void openFile(java.io.File file) throws java.io.IOException { // open the file using java.awt.Desktop ... } to open files like with double-click (start Windows command or open Mac OS X command equivalent). Since it cannot be compiled with Java 1.5, I want to exclude it during compilation and replace by another method which calls run32dll for Windows or open for Mac OS X using Runtime.exec. Question: How can I do that? Can annotations help here? Note: I use ant, and I can make two java files OS4J5.java and OS4J6.java which will contain the OS class with the desired code for Java 1.5 and 1.6 and copy one of them to OS.java before compiling (or an ugly way - replace the content of OS.java conditionally depending on java version) but I don't want to do that, if there is another way. Elaborating more: in C I could use ifdef, ifndef, in Python there is no compilation and I could check a feature using hasattr or something else, in Common Lisp I could use #+feature. Is there something similar for Java? Found this post but it doesn't seem to be helpful. Any help is greatly appreciated. kh.

  • Should conditional expressions go inside or outside of classes?

    - by Rupert
    It seems that often I will want to execute some methods from a Class when I call it and choosing which function will depend on some condition. This leads me to write classes like in Case 1 because it allows me to rapidly include their functionality. The alternative would be Case 2 which can take a lot of time if there is a lot of code and also means more code being written twice when I drop the Class into different pages. Having said that, Case 1 feels very wrong for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on. I haven't really seen any classes written like this, I suppose. Is there anything wrong with writing classes like in Case 1 or is Case 2 superior? Or is there a better way? What the advantages and disadvantages of each? Case 1 class Foo { public function __construct($bar) { if($bar = 'action1') $this->method1(); else if($bar = 'action2') $this->method2(); else $this->method1(); } public function method1() { } public function method2() { } } $bar = 'action1' $foo = new Foo($bar); Case 2 class Foo { public function __construct() { } public function method1() { } public function method2() { } } $foo = new Foo; $bar = 'action1'; if($bar == 'action1') $foo->method1(); else if($bar == 'action2') $foo->method2(); else $foo->method1();

  • How can I embed a conditional comment for IE with innerHTML?

    Ok so I want to conditionally add this line of code; <!--[if ! If i get rid of the selective comment ( <!--[if ! IE]><![endif]-->) and only put the SVG ( <embed src="logo.svg" type="image/svg+xml" /> ) it work! what should I do? • Conditional references in .NET project, possible to get rid of warning?

    - by Lasse V. Karlsen
    I have two references to a SQLite assembly, one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit, which looks like this (this is a test project to try to get rid of the warning, don't get hung up on the paths): <Reference Condition=" '$(Platform)' == 'x64' " Include="System.Data.SQLite, Version=1.0.61.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=db937bc2d44ff139, processorArchitecture=AMD64"> <SpecificVersion>True</SpecificVersion> <HintPath>..\..\LVK Libraries\SQLite3\version_1.0.65.0\64-bit\System.Data.SQLite.DLL</HintPath> </Reference> <Reference Condition=" '$(Platform)' == 'x86' " Include="System.Data.SQLite, Version=1.0.65.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=db937bc2d44ff139, processorArchitecture=x86"> <SpecificVersion>True</SpecificVersion> <HintPath>..\..\LVK Libraries\SQLite3\version_1.0.65.0\32-bit\System.Data.SQLite.DLL</HintPath> </Reference> This produces the following warning: Warning 1 The referenced component 'System.Data.SQLite' could not be found. Is it possible for me to get rid of this warning? One way I've looked at it to just configure my project to be 32-bit when I develop, and let the build machine fix the reference when building for 64-bit, but this seems a bit awkward and probably prone to errors. Any other options? The reason I want to get rid of it is that the warning is apparently being picked up by TeamCity and periodically flagged as something I need to look into, so I'd like to get completely rid of it.

  • What are the requirements of a collection type when model binding?

    - by Richard Ev
    I have been reviewing model binding with collections, specifically going through this article http://weblogs.asp.net/nmarun/archive/2010/03/13/asp-net-mvc-2-model-binding-for-a-collection.aspx However, the model I would like to use in my code does not implement collections using generic lists. Instead it uses its own collection classes, which inherit from a custom generic collection base class, the declaration of which is public abstract class CollectionBase<T> : IEnumerable<T> The collections in my POSTed action method are all non-null, but contain no elements. Can anyone advise?
