  • Converting a jQuery plugin to work on all objects, not just the DOM

    - by Jon Winstanley
    I am using the jQuery physics plugin for a pet project I am working on. The plugin enables the moving of DOM objects in realistic ways using velocity, gravity, wind etc. However I want to use the plugin to calculate where objects are to be placed inside a canvas element, not DOM object. How do I change the plugin script to work for ANY object with 'top' and 'left' properties rather than only working with DOM objects found with a jQuery selector? Currently the script functions look like this: jQuery.fn.funname = function() { return this; };

  • Converting SQL to LINQ to XML

    - by Morano88
    I'm writing the following code to convert SQL to LINQ and then to XML: SqlConnection thisConnection = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source=3BDALLAH-PC;Initial Catalog=XMLC;Integrated Security=True;Pooling=False;"); thisConnection.Open(); XElement eventsGive = new XElement("data", from c in ?????? select new XElement("event", new XAttribute("start", c.start), new XAttribute("end",c.eend), new XAttribute("title",c.title), new XAttribute("Color",c.Color), new XAttribute("link",c.link))); Console.WriteLine(eventsGive); The name of the table is "XMLC" and I want to refer to it. How can I do that? When I put its name directly VS gives an error. Also when I say thisConnection.XMLC it doesn't work.

  • Converting XML to RSS

    - by hkw
    I've got an xml feed that will be published in one location of our website, and would like to repurpose that for an RSS feed. A few different pages on the website will also be referencing the same xml - all of those transformations are set up and working. The base xml file (XMLTEST.xml) is using this structure: <POST> <item> <POST_ID>80000852</POST_ID> <POST_TITLE>title</POST_TITLE> <POST_CHANNEL>I</POST_CHANNEL> <POST_DESC>description</POST_DESC> <LINK>http://www...</LINK> <STOC>N</STOC> </item> </POST> I'm trying to transform the xml into an RSS feed using the following setup (feed.xml + rss.xsl) feed.xml: <?xml-stylesheet href="rss.xsl" type="text/xsl"?> <RSSChannels> <RSSChannel src="XMLTEST.xml"/> </RSSChannels> rss.xsl: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="xml" omit-xml-declaration="yes" /> <xsl:template match="RSSChannels"> <rss version="2.0"> <channel> <title>site title</title> <link></link> <description>Site description...</description> <xsl:apply-templates /> </channel> </rss> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="RSSChannel"> <xsl:apply-templates select="document(@src)" /> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="item"> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="STOC = 'Y'"></xsl:when> <xsl:when test="POST_CHANNEL = 'I'"></xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <item> <title> <xsl:value-of select="*[local-name()='POST_TITLE']" /> </title> <link> <xsl:value-of select="*[local-name()='LINK']" /> </link> <description> <xsl:value-of select="*[local-name()='POST_DESC']" /> </description> </item> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> When I try to view the output of feed.xml in Firefox, all of the filtering is applied correctly (sorting out items that shouldn't be published in that channel), but the page outputs as plain text, rather than the usual feed-detection that takes place in Firefox. Any ideas on what I'm missing? Thanks for any suggestions you can provide.

  • Best method for converting several sets of numbers with several different ratios

    - by C Patton
    I'm working on an open-source harm reduction application for opioid addicts. One of the features in this application is the conversion (in mg/mcg) between common opioids, so people don't overdose by accident. If you're morally against opioid addiction and wouldn't respond because of your morals, please consider that this application is for HARM REDUCTION.. So people don't end up dead. I have this data.. 3mg morphine IV = 10mcg fentanyl IV 2mg morphine oral = 1mg oxycodone oral 3mg oral morphine = 1mg oxymorphone oral 7.0mg morphine oral = 1mg hydromorphone oral 1mg morphine iv = .10mg oxymorphone iv 1mg morphine oral = 1mg hydrocodone oral 1mg morphine oral = 6.67mg codeine oral 1mg morphine oral = .10mg methadone oral And I have a textbox that is the source dosage in mg (a double) that the user can enter in. Underneath this, I have radio boxes for the source substance (ie: morphine) and the destination substance (ie oxycodone) for conversion.. I've been trying to think of the most efficient way to do this, but nearly every seems sloppy. If I were to do something like public static double MorphinetoOxycodone(string morphineValue) { double morphine = Double.Parse(morphineValue); return (morphine / 2 ); } I would also have to make a function for OxycodonetoMorphine, OxycodonetoCodeine, etc.. and then would end up with dozens functions.. There must be an easier way than this that I'm missing. If you'll notice, all of my conversions use morphine as the base value.. what might be the easiest way to use the morphine value to convert one opioid to another? For example, if 1mg morphine oral is equal to 1mg hydrocodone and 1mg morphine oral is equal to .10mg methadone, wouldn't I just multiply 1*.10 to get the hydrocodone-methadone value? Implementing this idea is what I'm having the most trouble with. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.. and if you'd like, I would add your name/nickname to the credits in this program. It's possible that many, many people around the world will use this (I'm translating it into several languages as well) and to know that your work could've helped an addict from dying.. I think that's a great thing :) -cory

  • Converting IPv4 or IPv6 address to a long for comparisons

    - by Justin Akehurst
    In order to check if an IPv4 or IPv6 address is within a certain range, I've got code that takes an IPv4 address, turns that into a long, then does that same conversion on the upper/lower bound of the subnet, then checks to see if the long is between those values. I'd like to be able to do the same thing for IPv6, but saw nothing in the Python 2.6 standard libraries to allow me to do this, so I wrote this up: import socket, struct from array import array def ip_address_to_long(address): ip_as_long = None try: ip_as_long = socket.ntohl(struct.unpack('L', socket.inet_pton(socket.AF_INET, address))[0]) except socket.error: # try IPv6 try: addr = array('L', struct.unpack('!4L', socket.inet_pton(socket.AF_INET6, address))) addr.reverse() ip_as_long = sum(addr[i] << (i * 32) for i in range(len(addr))) except socket.error as se: raise ValueError('Invalid address') except Exception as e: print str(e) return ip_as_long My question is: Is there a simpler way to do this that I am missing? Is there a standard library call that can do this for me?

  • Converting WCF web service to Java

    - by Vitor Py
    I currently have a web service built on WCF. It's still in its infancy, so, major changes are still possible. I've been thinking on porting it from WCF to a Java-based solution since I'd like to have a Linux-based backend. What would be the best way to accomplish this "conversion"? Any advantages WCF may have that Java lacks?

  • Converting jiffies to milli seconds

    - by EpsilonVector
    How do I manually convert jiffies to milliseconds and vice versa in Linux? I know kernel 2.6 has a function for this, but I'm working on 2.4 (homework) and though I looked at the code it uses lots of macro constants which I have no idea if they're defined in 2.4.

  • Converting XDocument to XmlDocument and vice versa.

    - by Workshop Alex
    It's a very simple problem that I have. I use XDocument to generate an XML file. I then want to return it as a XmlDocument class. And I have an XmlDocument variable which I need to convert back to XDocument to append more nodes. So, what is the most efficient method to convert XML between XDocument and XmlDocument? (Without using any temporary storage in a file.)

  • Python: Converting a tuple to a string with 'err'

    - by skylarking
    Given this : import os import subprocess def check_server(): cl = subprocess.Popen(["nmap","10.7.1.71"], stdout=subprocess.PIPE) result = cl.communicate() print result check_server() check_server() returns this tuple: ('\nStarting Nmap 4.53 ( http://insecure.org ) at 2010-04-07 07:26 EDT\nInteresting ports on 10.7.1.71:\nNot shown: 1711 closed ports\nPORT STATE SERVICE\n21/tcp open ftp\n22/tcp open ssh\n80/tcp open http\n\nNmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.293 seconds\n', None) Changing the second line in the method to result, err = cl.communicate() results in check_server() returning : Starting Nmap 4.53 ( http://insecure.org ) at 2010-04-07 07:27 EDT Interesting ports on 10.7.1.71: Not shown: 1711 closed ports PORT STATE SERVICE 21/tcp open ftp 22/tcp open ssh 80/tcp open http Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.319 seconds Looks to be the case that the tuple is converted to a string, and the \n's are being stripped.... but how? What is 'err' and what exactly is it doing?

  • Struts2 converting empty string parameter to an "int"

    - by Kyle Partridge
    How does one convert an empty string to an int using Struts2. When the application encounters this parameter with no value, like from an empty text field, it throws the following exception. java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: com.XXXXXXXXXXXX.setID([Ljava.lang.String;) Where ID is an integer, and the URL is: Something.action?ID=&other=rawr Is there a way to do this without using an Integer (class)? Do I have to write a type converter?

  • Converting from a day of week to unix time in PHP

    - by Rob
    Hi, I'm trying to get the unix time for date strings that are formatted like so: 'second sunday of march 2010' 'first sunday of november 2010' I was under the impression that strtotime could handle such a string, but apparently not, as this returns false. How can I convert to unix time when given a day of week, which one of those in the month (ie. first, second, etc.), a month and a year.

  • Converting convex hull to binary mask

    - by Jonas
    I want to generate a binary mask that has ones for all pixels inside and zeros for all pixels outside a volume. The volume is defined by the convex hull around a set of 3D coordinates (<100; some of the coordinates are inside the volume). I can get the convex hull using CONVHULLN, but how do I convert that into a binary mask? In case there is no good way to go via the convex hull, do you have any other idea how I could create the binary mask?

  • converting a timestring to a duration

    - by radman
    Hi, At the moment I am trying to read in a timestring formatted and create a duration from that. I am currently trying to use the boost date_time time_duration class to read and store the value. boost date_time provides a method time_duration duration_from_string(std::string) that allows a time_duration to be created from a time string and it accepts strings formatted appropriately ("[-]h[h][:mm][:ss][.fff]".). Now this method works fine if you use a correctly formatted time string. However if you submit something invalid like "ham_sandwich" or "100" then you will still be returned a time_duration that is not valid. Specifically if you try to pass it to a standard output stream then an assertion will occur. My question is: Does anyone know how to test the validity of the boost time_duration? and failing that can you suggest another method of reading a timestring and getting a duration from it? Note: I have tried the obvious testing methods that time_duration provides; is_not_a_date_time(), is_special() etc and they don't pick up that there is an issue. Using boost 1.38.0

  • Converting an equation into a way java script can interpret it

    - by GeorgeTaylor
    So I have this code that is meant to do this equation: (1 / 15) * arccos(-tan(L) * tan(23.44 * sin(360 * (D + 284) / 365))) and for testing purposes alert it! But for some reason it returns "NaN". I've probably done something really stupid :P var now = new Date(); var start = new Date(now.getFullYear(), 0, 0); var diff = now - start; var oneDay = 1000 * 60 * 60 * 24; var d = Math.floor(diff / oneDay); var lat = position.coords.latitude; var long = position.coords.longitude; var tanlat = Math.atan(lat); var tantwentythree = Math.tan(23.44); var dayplus = d + 284; var sinday = Math.sin(360 * dayplus); var arccos = Math.acos(tanlat); var start = 1 / 15; var equation = start * arccos * tantwentythree * sinday / 365; alert(equation);

  • Converting Flash frame to JPEG

    - by dhorn
    We are attempting to convert a flash frame into a JPEG without using the Flex SDK or other adobe tools. Right now, we have a flash file that passes binary data over to a .cfm page, which uses the following code to change the headers: <cfset var = GetHttpRequestData()> <cfcontent type="image/jpeg"> <cfheader name="Content-Disposition" value="attachment; filename=#url.name#"> <cfoutput>#var.content#</cfoutput> This code is producing some strange results. Basically, it renders as an image, and I can "right click - Set as desktop background", but I cannot save the image any other way, as it simply saves the contents of the HTML Source. So, questions: 1) Is what I'm trying to do even possible? 2) If so, any suggestions? Thanks guys.

  • Problem with tcp server when converting to service

    - by djerry
    Hello lads, I'm working on monitoring some object (cdr-packets). I'm setting up a tcp-server and am listening on port 50043 for the packages. The program as a console application is working just fine, my server is working like it should and i'm receiving the packets. When i try to use it as a service, i cannot seem to get a client connected to my server. Is there something i need to change to deploy this as a service? Code below is from my application: this is my service class where i start protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { server = new TcpServer(); server.StartServer(); } this is the constructor of TcpServer public TcpServer() { try { _server = new TcpListener(IPAddress.Any, 50043); } catch (Exception) { _server = null; } } this is the method i call after initialising the class public void StartServer() { if (_server != null) { // Create a ArrayList for storing SocketListeners before starting the server. _socketListenersList = new ArrayList(); // Start the Server and start the thread to listen client requests. _server.Start(); _serverThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(ServerThreadStart)); _serverThread.Start(); // Create a low priority thread that checks and deletes client // SocktConnection objcts that are marked for deletion. _purgingThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(PurgingThreadStart)); _purgingThread.Priority = ThreadPriority.Lowest; _purgingThread.Start(); } } this is the thread that keep checking if any client tries to connect private void ServerThreadStart() { // Client Socket variable; Socket clientSocket = null; TcpSocketListener socketListener = null; while (!_stopServer) { try { // Wait for any client requests and if there is any request from any //client accept it (Wait indefinitely). clientSocket = _server.AcceptSocket(); // Create a SocketListener object for the client. socketListener = new TcpSocketListener(clientSocket); // Add the socket listener to an array list in a thread safe fashon. lock (_socketListenersList) { _socketListenersList.Add(socketListener); } // Start a communicating with the client in a different thread. socketListener.StartSocketListener(); } catch (SocketException se) { _stopServer = true; } } } when for the first time a packet waits to be read, and i get to "clientSocket = _server.AcceptSocket();", it throws an exception (service, not very good debugable) Does anyone recognize this problem or can help me? Thanks in advance
