  • Question about Displaying Documents and the CQWP in MOSS 2007

    - by Psycho Bob
My organization is in the process of converting our intranet over to a SharePoint solution. Part of this intranet will be the movement and organization of all our internal documents. Currently, we have 11 pages of document links, each with its own subheadings. So far I have it set where each document has a custom field called "Page" with a check box list of all the document pages on the intranet site. On each individual page, I have setup a Content Query Web Part that displays the documents that have the corresponding Page value set (i.e. if a document Page value has been checked for "HR" it will appear on the HR page). The goal of this setup is to allow the nontechnical personal who will be responsible for the maintenance of the documents to be able to upload new documents to the documents list and note on which pages they should appear on without having to manually update the pages themselves. The problem that I am having is that I cannot seem to find a good way to sort the documents into their subheadings once they are on the appropriate page. I could create individual check boxes for each page/subheading combination, but this would create a list of approximately 50-75 items. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could accomplish this, either via CQWP or by different means? Goals/Requirements of Installation Allow Intranet documents to be maintained by nontechnical personnel Display documents on the appropriate pages without user having to edit actual page or web part Denote document page location using user settable document attributes (if possible) Maintain current intranet organization and workflow Use only one document list without subdirectories NOTE: I am aware that this is not the most efficient or elegant way to do things, but these are the requirements I have been given for the project.

  • Big Data – Operational Databases Supporting Big Data – Key-Value Pair Databases and Document Databases – Day 13 of 21

    - by Pinal Dave
In yesterday’s blog post we learned the importance of the Relational Database and NoSQL database in the Big Data Story. In this article we will understand the role of Key-Value Pair Databases and Document Databases Supporting Big Data Story. Now we will see a few of the examples of the operational databases. Relational Databases (Yesterday’s post) NoSQL Databases (Yesterday’s post) Key-Value Pair Databases (This post) Document Databases (This post) Columnar Databases (Tomorrow’s post) Graph Databases (Tomorrow’s post) Spatial Databases (Tomorrow’s post) Key Value Pair Databases Key Value Pair Databases are also known as KVP databases. A key is a field name and attribute, an identifier. The content of that field is its value, the data that is being identified and stored. They have a very simple implementation of NoSQL database concepts. They do not have schema hence they are very flexible as well as scalable. The disadvantages of Key Value Pair (KVP) database are that they do not follow ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability) properties. Additionally, it will require data architects to plan for data placement, replication as well as high availability. In KVP databases the data is stored as strings. Here is a simple example of how Key Value Database will look like: Key Value Name Pinal Dave Color Blue Twitter @pinaldave Name Nupur Dave Movie The Hero As the number of users grow in Key Value Pair databases it starts getting difficult to manage the entire database. As there is no specific schema or rules associated with the database, there are chances that database grows exponentially as well. It is very crucial to select the right Key Value Pair Database which offers an additional set of tools to manage the data and provides finer control over various business aspects of the same. Riak Rick is one of the most popular Key Value Database. It is known for its scalability and performance in high volume and velocity database. Additionally, it implements a mechanism for collection key and values which further helps to build manageable system. We will further discuss Riak in future blog posts. Key Value Databases are a good choice for social media, communities, caching layers for connecting other databases. In simpler words, whenever we required flexibility of the data storage keeping scalability in mind – KVP databases are good options to consider. Document Database There are two different kinds of document databases. 1) Full document Content (web pages, word docs etc) and 2) Storing Document Components for storage. The second types of the document database we are talking about over here. They use Javascript Object Notation (JSON) and Binary JSON for the structure of the documents. JSON is very easy to understand language and it is very easy to write for applications. There are two major structures of JSON used for Document Database – 1) Name Value Pairs and 2) Ordered List. MongoDB and CouchDB are two of the most popular Open Source NonRelational Document Database. MongoDB MongoDB databases are called collections. Each collection is build of documents and each document is composed of fields. MongoDB collections can be indexed for optimal performance. MongoDB ecosystem is highly available, supports query services as well as MapReduce. It is often used in high volume content management system. CouchDB CouchDB databases are composed of documents which consists fields and attachments (known as description). It supports ACID properties. The main attraction points of CouchDB are that it will continue to operate even though network connectivity is sketchy. Due to this nature CouchDB prefers local data storage. Document Database is a good choice of the database when users have to generate dynamic reports from elements which are changing very frequently. A good example of document usages is in real time analytics in social networking or content management system. Tomorrow In tomorrow’s blog post we will discuss about various other Operational Databases supporting Big Data. • WCF CreateMessage from custom body xml

    - by Cecil
I have the following code: string body = "<custom xml>"; XDocument doc = XDocument.Parse(body); MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(); XmlWriter writer = XmlWriter.Create(stream); if (writer != null) { doc.Save(writer); writer.Flush(); writer.Close(); } stream.Position = 0; XmlReader rd = XmlReader.Create(stream); Message output = Message.CreateMessage(msg.Version, msg.Headers.Action, rd); output.Headers.CopyHeadersFrom(msg); output.Properties.CopyProperties(msg.Properties); When I try to use the message I get the following error: hexadecimal value 0x02, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 2. Any idea why? And what I can do to fix this?

  • Remove All Nodes with (nodeName = "script") from a Document Fragment *before placing it in dom*

    - by Matrym
My goal is to remove all <[script] nodes from a document fragment (leaving the rest of the fragment intact) before inserting the fragment into the dom. My fragment is created by and looks something like this: range = document.createRange(); range.selectNode(document.getElementsByTagName("body").item(0)); documentFragment = range.cloneContents(); sasDom.insertBefore(documentFragment, credit); document.body.appendChild(documentFragment); I got good range walker suggestions in a separate post, but realized I asked the wrong question. I got an answer about ranges, but what I meant to ask about was a document fragment (or perhaps there's a way to set a range of the fragment? hrmmm). The walker provided was: function actOnElementsInRange(range, func) { function isContainedInRange(el, range) { var elRange = range.cloneRange(); elRange.selectNode(el); return range.compareBoundaryPoints(Range.START_TO_START, elRange) <= 0 && range.compareBoundaryPoints(Range.END_TO_END, elRange) >= 0; } var rangeStartElement = range.startContainer; if (rangeStartElement.nodeType == 3) { rangeStartElement = rangeStartElement.parentNode; } var rangeEndElement = range.endContainer; if (rangeEndElement.nodeType == 3) { rangeEndElement = rangeEndElement.parentNode; } var isInRange = function(el) { return (el === rangeStartElement || el === rangeEndElement || isContainedInRange(el, range)) ? NodeFilter.FILTER_ACCEPT : NodeFilter.FILTER_SKIP; }; var container = range.commonAncestorContainer; if (container.nodeType != 1) { container = container.parentNode; } var walker = document.createTreeWalker(document, NodeFilter.SHOW_ELEMENT, isInRange, false); while (walker.nextNode()) { func(walker.currentNode); } } actOnElementsInRange(range, function(el) { el.removeAttribute("id"); }); That walker code is lifted from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2690122/remove-all-id-attributes-from-nodes-in-a-range-of-fragment PLEASE No libraries (ie jQuery). I want to do this the raw way. Thanks in advance for your help

  • Qt4: QPrinter / QPainter only prints the first document

    - by hurikhan77
The problem is that my application only prints the first document fine. The second document is empty, only the page number is printed, the rest of the page is empty. In Qt4, I'm initializing the printer in the main.cpp in the following way: mw->printer = new QPrinter(QPrinter::HighResolution); mw->printer->setPaperSize(QPrinter::A5); mw->printer->setNumCopies(2); mw->printer->setColorMode(QPrinter::GrayScale); QPrintDialog *dialog = new QPrintDialog(mw->printer, mw); dialog->setWindowTitle(QObject::tr("Printer Setup")); if (dialog->exec() == QDialog::Accepted) { mw->printer->setFullPage(TRUE); return a.exec (); } This works fine for printing the first document from the application: qDebug("Printing"); QPainter p; if (!p.begin(printer)) { qDebug("Printing aborted"); return; } Q3PaintDeviceMetrics metrics(p.device()); int dpiy = metrics.logicalDpiY(); int dpix = metrics.logicalDpiX(); int tmargin = (int) ((marginTop / 2.54) * dpiy); int bmargin = (int) ((marginBottom / 2.54) * dpiy); int lmargin = (int) ((marginLeft / 2.54) * dpix); int rmargin = (int) ((marginRight / 2.54) * dpix); QRect body(lmargin, tmargin, metrics.width() - (lmargin + rmargin), metrics.height() - (tmargin + bmargin)); QString document; /* ... app logic to write a richtext document */ Q3SimpleRichText richText(QString("<qt>%1</qt>").arg(document), QFont("Arial", fontSize)); richText.setWidth(&p, body.width()); QRect view(body); int page = 1; do { // draw text richText.draw(&p, body.left(), body.top(), view, colorGroup()); view.moveBy(0, body.height()); p.translate(0, -body.height()); // insert page number p.drawText(view.right() - p.fontMetrics().width(QString::number(page)), view.bottom() + p.fontMetrics().ascent() + 5, QString::number(page)); // exit loop on last page if (view.top () >= richText.height ()) break; printer->newPage(); page++; } while (TRUE); if (!p.end()) qDebug("Print painter yielded failure"); But when this routine runs the second time, it does not print the document. It will just print an empty page but still with the page number on it. This worked fine before with Qt3.

  • Outlook body background no-repeat

    - by kylex
I am sending an Email in HTML format geared toward outlook 2007/2010. I applied a background image to body tag but it does not work. Code as below: <body style="background-image: url('http://example.com/bg.jpg'); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position:top center;"> However if I change the "no-repeat" to "repeat-y no-repeat", it shows the background image but it repeats. Can anyone help me with this?

  • iframe.document.body.scrollHeight is double the correct value

    - by Dean J
    <iframe name="asdf" id="asdf" onload="change_height(this)" src="asdf.jsp" width="250" scrolling="no" frameborder="0"></iframe> function change_height(iframe) { if (document.all) { // IE. ieheight = iframe.document.body.scrollHeight; iframe.style.height = ieheight; } else { // Firefox. ffheight= iframe.contentDocument.body.offsetHeight; iframe.style.height = ffheight+ 'px'; } } ieheight is twice the actual height when this runs in IE7; haven't tested on IE6. It's the same value if I use scrollHeight or offsetHeight. It's the correct height in Firefox. Before I patch this by just dividing the IE value /2, what's the right way to do this?

  • Filtering option list values based on security in UCM

    - by kyle.hatlestad
Fellow UCM blog writer John Sim recently posted a comment asking about filtering values based on the user's security. I had never dug into that detail before, but thought I would take a look. It ended up being tricker then I originally thought and required a bit of insider knowledge, so I thought I would share. The first step is to create the option list table in Configuration Manager. You want to define the column for the option list value and any other columns desired. You then want to have a column which will store the security attribute to apply to the option list value. In this example, we'll name the column 'dGroupName'. Next step is to create a View based on the new table. For the Internal and Visible column, you can select the option list column name. Then click on the Security tab, uncheck the 'Publish view data' checkbox and select the 'Use standard document security' radio button. Click on the 'Edit Values...' button and add the values for the option list. In the dGroupName field, enter the Security Group (or Account if you use Accounts for security) to apply to that value. Create the custom metadata field and apply the View just created. The next step requires file system access to the server. Open the file [ucm directory]\data\schema\views\[view name].hda in a text editor. Below the line '@Properties LocalData', add the line: schSecurityImplementorColumnMap=dGroupName:dSecurityGroup The 'dGroupName' value designates the column in the table which stores the security value. 'dSecurityGroup' indicates the type of security to check against. It would be 'dDocAccount' if using Accounts. Save the file and restart UCM. Now when a user goes to the check-in page, they will only see the options for which they have read and write privileges to the associated Security Group. And on the Search page, they will see the options for which they have just read access. One thing to note is if a value that a user normally can't view on Check-in or Search is applied to a document, but the document is viewable by the user, the user will be able to see the value on the Content Information screen.

  • Serializing an object into the body of a WCF request using webHttpBinding

    - by Bert
    I have a WCF service exposed with a webHttpBinding endpoint. [OperationContract(IsOneWay = true)] [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", RequestFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Bare, UriTemplate = "/?action=DoSomething&v1={value1}&v2={value2}")] void DoSomething(string value1, string value2, MySimpleObject value3); In theory, if I call this, the first two parameters (value1 & value 2) are taken from the Uri and the final one (value3) should be deserialized from the body of the request. Assuming I am using Json as the RequestFormat, what is the best way of serialising an instance of MySimpleObject into the body of the request before I send it ? This, for instance, does not seem to work : HttpWebRequest sendRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); sendRequest.ContentType = "application/json"; sendRequest.Method = "POST"; using (var sendRequestStream = sendRequest.GetRequestStream()) { DataContractJsonSerializer jsonSerializer = new DataContractJsonSerializer(typeof(MySimpleObject)); jsonSerializer.WriteObject(sendRequestStream, obj); sendRequestStream.Close(); } sendRequest.GetResponse().Close();

  • Jersey message body reader not found in maven-built JAR

    - by Olvagor
My application uses a REST (JAX-RS Jersey) interface. When I run it in Eclipse, everything' s fine. The domain objects are annotated, I'm not using XML files for the REST mapping. Now I created a standalone JAR using the maven-assembly-plugin, which packs the application and all dependencies in a single, executable JAR file. This also seems to work. But when I start the application and request an object from the server, Jersey complains, that it can't find a message body reader: com.sun.jersey.api.client.ClientHandlerException: A message body reader for Java type, class de.rybu.atuin.core.entity.User, and MIME media type, application/json, was not found Any ideas why this happens? EDIT: After I slept a night over it, I noticed that it complains about JSON... but I'm using only XML for serialization. Strange.

  • Design suggestions for creating document management structure using hidden shares.

    - by focus.nz
I need to add some document management functionality into my software. Documents will be grouped by company name and project name. The folders need to be accessed by the application using the id numbers of clients/projects, but also easily browsed by the end user using windows explorer. Clients and Projects will be stored in a database. I am thinking of having the software create the folders using the friendly name and then using a hidden share with the id number for the software to access the files. The folder structure would be something like this --Company 1 (Company-1234$) -- Project 101 (Project-101$) -- Project 102 (Project-102$) -- Project 103 (Project-103$) -- Company 2 (Company-5678$) -- Project 201 (Project-201$) -- Project 202 (Project-202$) -- Project 203 (Project-203$) So in the example above there would be a company called "Company 1" with a ID of "1234". When browsing the folders using windows explorer the user would see \\ServerName\Documents\Company1 and you could also access the same folder from \\ServerName\Documents\Company-1234$ By using the hidden share, if the company name changes or its renamed for some reason it doesn't break the link in the application because its using the hidden shared based on the ID that never changes. Will having hundreds (maybe thousands) or hidden shares on a server provide a huge performance hit? Does any one have any suggestions or alternatives to provide this feature?

  • Create xml type with no body

Hopefully this is an easy question. How can I define an XML type such that the type doesn't have a body. As an example I can define the Foo type as follows... <xs:complexType name="Foo"> <xs:simpleContent> <xs:extension base="xs:string"> <xs:attribute name="id" type="xs:integer" use="required"/> </xs:extension> </xs:simpleContent> </xs:complexType> But that would allow the following... <Foo id="7">STUFF I DON'T WANT</Foo> Is there a way I can change the xsd so that the Foo element isn't allowed any body?

    Hi, I'm creating a Firefox extension for demo purposes. I to call a specific JavaScript function in the document from the extension. I wrote this in my HTML document (not inside extension, but a page that is loaded by Firefox): document.funcToBeCalled = function() { // function body }; Then, the extension will run this on some event: var document = Application.activeWindow.activeTab.document; document.funcToBeCalled(); However it raises an error saying that funcToBeCalled is not defined. Note: I could get an element on the document by calling document.getElementById(id);

I am creating a few documents in Libre office and I have to always send them as .pdf. but each and every time I forget to export it as pdf , So is there any way to auto convert the .odt document into pdf every time I save the document ? I have only about 4 docs , I keep making changes on them , So each and every time I make a change and save the odt I need that change to be updated in the corresponding pdf file . Ps : I understand that unoconv can be used to convert via command line but is there a way to automatically do it ? Another Ps : I found out that there is something called inotify and inotify-tools and that can be used to trigger events when a file changes . But I have no idea on how to use it .

  • Is it better to use a relational database or document-based database for an app like Wufoo?

    - by mboyle
I'm working on an application that's similar to Wufoo in that it allows our users to create their own databases and collect/present records with auto generated forms and views. Since every user is creating a different schema (one user might have a database of their baseball card collection, another might have a database of their recipes) our current approach is using MySQL to create separate databases for every user with its own tables. So in other words, the databases our MySQL server contains look like: main-web-app-db (our web app containing tables for users account info, billing, etc) user_1_db (baseball_cards_table) user_2_db (recipes_table) .... And so on. If a user wants to set up a new database to keep track of their DVD collection, we'd do a "create database ..." with "create table ...". If they enter some data in and then decide they want to change a column we'd do an "alter table ....". Now, the further along I get with building this out the more it seems like MySQL is poorly suited to handling this. 1) My first concern is that switching databases every request, first to our main app's database for authentication etc, and then to the user's personal database, is going to be inefficient. 2) The second concern I have is that there's going to be a limit to the number of databases a single MySQL server can host. Pretending for a moment this application had 500,000 user databases, is MySQL designed to operate this way? What if it were a million, or more? 3) Lastly, is this method going to be a nightmare to support and scale? I've never heard of MySQL being used in this way so I do worry about how this affects things like replication and other methods of scaling. To me, it seems like MySQL wasn't built to be used in this way but what do I know. I've been looking at document-based databases like MongoDB, CouchDB, and Redis as alternatives because it seems like a schema-less approach to this particular problem makes a lot of sense. Can anyone offer some advice on this?

  • Adding a javascript immediate after body tag

    - by prabdrup
I am making a drupal module. My requirement in the module is that when the module is activated then it needs to add a javascript in page.tpl file just after the body tag. Can anyone help me how to do this. I have tried using drupal_add_js but it will not exactly put the script after body tag, rather puts inside the head or below in footer. I also tried using template variable and preprocess method but the problem is the preprocess method replaces the old value of that variable with the new one. Is there a way how i can implement this in.

  • CSS: Base styles on body or html?

    - by Svish
When I declare some base styles for my site I have used to do that on the body tag. Like for example body { font-size: medium; line-height: 1.3em; } But I have also seen people do things like that on the html tag. And on both. Where should it be done? Should some be at one and some at the other? Should all be on one of them? Or does it simply not matter at all? Or?

  • Display random image when page loads without utilizing onload in the body tag

    - by Peachy
I'm trying to create a fairly simple piece of JavaScript that displays a random image from an array each time the page loads. I need to figure out a way to get this running without adding code to the body tag. Is there a way to accomplish this without, say, an onload funtion placed in the body tag? Here's what I have that relies on the onLoad: ImageSwitch=new Array(); ImageSwitch[0]='1.jpg'; ImageSwitch[1]='2.jpg'; ImageSwitch[2]='3.jpg'; ImageSwitch[3]='4.jpg'; function swapImage() { document.getElementById("theImage").setAttribute("src", ImageSwitch[ Math.round(Math.random()*3)]) } Any alternative ideas to accomplish this? Thanks.

  • can not find out if the div element is already set in body in chrome extension

    - by alpham8
in my chrome extension I got an div, which I will add to the body of the current tab. I am listening to chrome.tabs.onUpdated. If this event is called, I execute a script inside content_scripts. In this function there I´ll wait till the document is ready with jQuery $(document).ready(...). I try to access $("#div").length and sometimes it returns 1 and sometimes 0. It should added to the body, if it´s not already there. For some strange reasons, the onUpdated event is called twice on each page reload. Actually I found no way to check safely if the div was already added.
